It's been almost 2,5 years of waiting but Yuru Yuri is finally back!
Assuming you've seen both seasons of the TV-series prior to this, there is little need for introduction and thus I will keep this short. It's the same good old character cast as it has always been; Akari's hair buns are still detachable, Chinatsu's artistic skills are still frighteningly bad and TOSHINOU KYOUKO is still as whimsical and energetic as ever in her tomato outfit.
In this 1-hour OVA, after a rather... *unexpected* opening scene, the story is about the whole group going on a camping trip in the summer. It's a very typical slice-of-life

If you're reading this, I'm going to assume you've seen both seasons of Yuru Yuri already, and wondering how the OVA stood up to the original aired series.
In short: It was everything all Yuru Yuri fans wanted (and needed!). With the exception of the first five minutes, which was a funny engrish over the top parody scene. The entire OVA stayed true to all of the characters, and any returning fan will be very pleased with how they brought back their favorite characters. Another great element they kept bringing back were the running jokes from the series. Ayano's Puns, Chinatsu's terrible art, Akarin's non ... Mar 9, 2015
They did everything right with this one, and everyone who has seen the previous two seasons should watch this, or at least if they want to experience the most relaxing and beautiful OVA ever. I know you do.
In this hour-long episode, the Yuru Yuri girls travel on a camping trip, which totally hasn't been done before by anyone. The first thing you'll notice is the new animation. It's beautiful. If you exclude the five minute Engrish opening scene, the OVA radiates an aura of calmness and serenity, which actually diverts quite a bit from the usual show, but it's done in such a way that ... Most appraisals of YuruYuri commend its uniqueness that defied the cliches associated with the Moe-Slice of Life genre, as well as its vast potential as a series. As of today, the legacy of YuruYuri is safely carried on by the newest iteration in the series, YuruYuri Nachuyachumi.
The story of Nachuyachumi can never be described in a few general terms because it is separated into two distinct parts: The OVA originals and the manga adaptations. I will review them separately. Firstly, the OVA originals mostly consist of the camping trip story arc. Unfortunately, to many viewers a camping trip might seem vapid and mundane. However, bear in ... Mar 7, 2015
Watching YuruYuri Nachuyachumi is like reuniting with an old friend, and the spark of friendship reignites. I remember when I watched seasons one and two back in 2012, and I liked it a lot. However, the ending for the second season felt incomplete, and that has bothered me for a long time. Thus, when this OVA was announced, I was so hyped that you wouldn't even believe it! Luckily, the hype I had was well worth it.
In case you're not familiar with YuruYuri, it's basically a slice-of-life centering around around four middle school girls, Akari Akaza, Kyoko Toshino, Yui Funami, and Chinatsu Yoshikawa. Akari, Kyoko, ... Jun 5, 2015
Yuru Yuri is an anime about middle school girls having fun, quite a simple idea, but its been handled extremely well and the characters, while mostly cliche, work because they interact well with each other.
Yuru Yuri itself as a whole was a solid 8 for me - before this OVA.In the previous seasons, though the basic premise was all too common in anime, the characters were fun to watch and most of the jokes were over the top and different, not cheap cliche ones. This OVA seems to be produced by a different production house, and they totally butchered it.It has became too tame and conformist, ... Dec 31, 2015
Yuru Yuri Nachuyachumi! is an hour-long OVA featuring the girls during their summer vacation. It's a great watch, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the show.
Story: 8 As with most slice-of-life shows, the story isn't intense. Everything is relaxation, cutesy, and comedy. The plot of this movie-length episode is a camping trip the girls go to, courtesy of Kyouko (who seems to have everything planned out). It's nothing special, but I liked the way that the plot moved smoothly and slowly. Art: 9 The art hasn't changed a lot from the original series, although I've heard that the quality seems to have improved a lot ... Jan 28, 2016
Ahh, watching this OVA reminded me of the day I went camping with my friends..How could I forget the pranks that they pulled on me or the urban legend about the deformed faces that we saw on the tree near our camping spot...
[Story]: (8/10) The members of the Amusement club decides to go camping together for summer vacation, along with the members of the student council. The first 5 or so minutes of the OVA is one of the funniest scenes that I have ever seen in Yuru Yuri. It begins with what I'm assuming to be a parody of some Western Animation show and 4 ... Knowing that a third season was in the works, I was more excited than I was for any other anime in a while. Well, unless Pani Poni Dash would hurry up and get another season already.
What you expect to get out of this OVA is the entrance to the plot of two more OVA episodes that continue the story. This one is a simple episode, albeit elongated to an hour; and yet, it felt like I was only watching a single episode in terms of time This one offered the most beautiful art, character development and comedy yet without feeling too bland at all. It ... Dec 1, 2015
What's better than a 24-minute episode of our favorite Yuru Yuri anime? An OVA that is 1 hour long. Yes, that's 60 minutes of Yuri Yuri's cute cast. Is it really worth watching for an hour, or is this OVA a bust.
JAPANESE LEARNERS (2/5 Easy to Understand) Yuru Yuri still manages to be an easy anime to understand without subtitles if you are at the intermediate and advanced levels. It may just be me, but after watching Yuru Yuri seasons ... Aug 19, 2017
First things first. My "reviews" system is explained on a blog entry. Which can be found through my profile.
------ Nice little 1 hour "movie". This time around Kyouko and her party decides to have a camping trip. I found this movie cute, lot of cute scenes, reactions, dialogues, nice jokes and their corresponding reactions. Overall quite enjoyable hour . Also the hard-boiled JoJo intro was also nice touch. Don't really have anything else to comment. Rest of opinions I have about this anime are pretty much same as previous seasons. Cute girls doing cute stuff is not going anywhere. Thus the short "review". Apparently the studio changed which changed ... Jun 9, 2022
Yuru Yuri is a franchise I've looked at quite a few times. And there's still more to it so I'll be looking at it again. Nachuyachumi came out in early 2015 as an hour long OVA. Is it as solid as the rest of the franchise? Let's have a look.
Story: We open with the Amusement club struggling through a hot summer day. They discover some camping supplies and decide that it's a perfect opportunity for a camping trip. Naturally, they invite the girls of the student council along and hijinks ensue. Overall, most of the jokes do land pretty well. There are a few ... Jan 2, 2022
This OVA is long and high budget enough to feel almost like a full feature anime movie. It has everything you want and have come to expect from Yuru Yuri, and coming off the second season you really start to feel like you know these girls, and it's a group of friends that you just want to see more shenanigans of.
The idea of going camping was a fresh one for this series. Though they've had school trips before they were never all together for them, half the girls being different ages. So this was a nice chance to see all of them away from the ... Mar 2, 2023
What drew me towards this anime was the artwork and premise, it's a newer story coming from Japan, something that may stand out and possibly open a pathway for more similar styles of art and story. Taking all context from the story, and looking only at the plot, this series is very dry and repetitive.
Unfortunately it attempts a good meaning, but leaving the characters forgettable or confusing to tell apart from one another. Without the diversity, personality (other than being trans), and substance. Some may find it difficult to relate to many of the characters. On the positive notes, beautiful artwork. I love the ... |
