A group of boys on their way to become idols. Starmyu has school setting and Shounen Hollywood story takes place in a theater. In both shows, the boys work hard to reach their goals although Shounen Hollywood has higher grade of realism. Musicals and character songs are important parts of these shows.

Both of the animes are about idols who want to be more known. The only difference is that UtaPri is a reverse harem

Both are essentially Slice of Life of Idols Both have flashy idol illustrations Both have considerably amusing Idols performances Marginal has more focus on the high school slice of life plot while Shounen focuses more on the idol work Marginal is more comedic and natural Marginal has a way more relatable slice of life story plot too Marginal has more variety of the idols' songs too Marginal is more lighthearted

Like in Shonen Hollywood, the girls of Sore ga Seiyuu! are just trying to make it in one of Japan's biggest entertainment industries. However, instead of being an idol, it's voice acting! Join Futaba, Ichigo, and Rin as they gain experience in voice acting, grow closer together as a group, and even become an idol group. Like Shonen Hollywood, Sore ga Seiyuu! is dedicated to showing all aspects of a voice actor's life, including the most mundane things. If you enjoyed watching the boys of Shonen Hollywood struggle and overcome obstacles to be the best idols they can be, you will most definitely enjoy Sore  read more

Both anime tell the story of a theater group that used to be really famous in the past, but now it's about to go bankrupt. A new group of actors/singers gather to try to revive its fame.

Shounen Hollywood is about a group of guys trying to make it as idols, and Wake Up Girls! is about a group of girls trying to make it as idols.

It's rare to find an innocent slice of life anime about a group of boys, within anime. Even harder when both exhibit character themed episodes, character growth, subtle development, a relaxing mood and cute boys doing cute things. A few philosophical themes and morals in each show. Similar music.

> Idols > Colours > Not reverse harem > More focus on idol characters and their emotional journey in both > Characters are interesting, deep but very different in each. If you enjoyed one, the other will be a unique experience despite being a different take on idols.

If you liked Bakumatsu Rock, then you will definitely like Shounen Hollywood. The reason is simple: it has good songs and voice actors and it actually has a plot. Both anime are ilustrating a group of musicians trying to show everyone what they can do. In Shounen Hollywood you will see a group of teenagers in their way of becoming true idols while in Bakumatsu Rock you will see three men trying to show the world ”the true power of rock”. Also, it shares some of the voice actors.

Both have boys with similar aesthetic forming a group and the dynamics behind that. Them having to work together to produce stage results for a crowd where they have to look good. I feel like the art and pacing are similar.
