A comic adaptation of Charles Perrault's classic fairy tale about a clever musketeer feline in boots. His goal is to help the weak and defenseless, but his saving a mouse makes him the most wanted in all Catdom. On the run from the notorious Three Blunderers, Perro befriends a young miller's boy, Pierre, and together, they decide to seek their fame and fortune. When they cross paths with the lovely Princess Rosa, Perro determines to get Pierre hitched to Her Royal Highness. But the wicked ogre, Lucifer, also has his sights on Rosa. Nonetheless, with the help of a band of comic mice thieves, Perro manages to get Pierre to become engaged to Rosa. But on the night of the full moon, Lucifer kidnaps the princess, and Pierre, Perro, and the mice bandits set off to rescue her.

As the mascot of Toei studios I was curious to watch this movie, as expected of anime movie based in afairy tail an from the year it was made this movie is obviously aimed to children. Like many early anime movies this one is also very influenced by early Disney animation mixing comedy, songs and a morale to teh story.
The art is fine for the year it was made but not the best compared to some of its contemporaries, the music nothing memorable but it does it's job represnting the situations and characters in a musical movie style.
The story mostly follows the main plot of read more

As a young child, I used to watch this movie all the time and loved it. Even today, I like to watch it and as an old anime-style movie, it is is a classic to me. The catchy main song is still stuck in my head to this day.

I had the English dub version of the movie on DVD and didn't watch the original Japanese version but I still think that the voice actors did pretty well, especially for the time period it was made in.

Made from TOEI Animation, was a crisp animation with a good plot/story and fun characters. I don't know if read more

I watched this movie for the first time when I was a little child. I liked it, and I like it even now. Yes, it's an old anime-movie, but it's one of the BEST movies I ever watched. The animation is beautiful, the story is full of adventure, and great characters. I like Puss a lot, he's always there for his friends to save the princess and do the right thing.

It's a perfect movie for the whole family, because the end is Happy end of course. A real fairytale for everyone from Japan. :)

I don't know what I should write about this awesome movie. read more
