As this list becomes more and more popular (thanks everyone! Feedback appreciated!), I'm adding a friendly reminder: Autistic people are as diverse as neurotypical people are. This list could contain every character from every anime ever made and still be accurate as autistic rep! I just add the ones who "score higher" in showing more common autistic traits.

If you've gotten tired or bored with the common trope of the main character trying to get stronger to save something or somebody. If you just want to take a breather and take a break without worrying about the main character for a while - although I can't guarantee it for all of them - this list is for you (one entry per series - no sequels, etc.). SRW V - SRW 30

The opposite of Real Robot mecha genre like Gundam. Super Robots uses more super advance technological weapons similar to magic instead of current real life modern weapons found on Real Robots.

Political Anime shows.

Some powerfully executed mecha and sci-fi anime! If you're in for some action, drama, and some political, psychological, or philosophical subject matter, these are good anime recommendations. Please, give them a watch.

While many of the best anime series are based on popular manga, some of them are entirely original. Believe it or not, some of the best anime have nothing to do with manga at all, and some even got a manga adaptation after they were aired or while they were in production. Compiled here are non-manga-based anime that you need to add to your watchlist as soon as possible. Some of them are classics that you might have watched and re-watched many times before, while others are a bit more unknown.

Shows/Series where ships play some fairly notable part in the story. Stack is biased toward ocean-going vessels. Submarines are also included.
