There is something patriotic within these two anime. It could be me...or not. There isn't also much to say. These two are basically fun anime to watch if you get tired of the same-o same-o stuff that's playing today. Grab some popcorn and a soda and relax...

Both Nagai properties were worked on contemporaneously by the same studio, and it shows. They're animated quite similarly (stiff figures, bright colors) and both feature a simple monster-of-the-week plot. I'm relatively sure that the two shows even share actors; Kouji and Akira are essentially the same character.

The resemblance of this series is given in the context of some of his characters. For example, in Mazinger, Boss is a fat teenager who is school rival of the protagonist of the series (Koji Kabuto) and who gets jealous when someone approaches Sayaka Yumi, while that in Albegas, Kumai Goro is also a rival school that Daisaku have and has the same feelings and attitudes towards Hotaru, than Boss had towards Yumi. Also both female protagonists have a parent who constructs or improves the main fuse.

Mazinger Z and Mobile Suit Gundam are both one of the oldest and greatest Mecha/Super Robot anime's there is, both of these classics involve teens dragged into piloting a giant robot to fight other giant robots. Both Amuro and Kouji are apart of the Super Robot pilots "holy trinity" (which was started by Super Robot Taisen).
