Ranma ½

Same mangaka, similar graphics, same seiyuus. Wanna hear Yamaguchi Kappei again? Then you should watch this.  

it's just like inuyasha but more like the love side. it doesn't really have any blood. and ranma 1/2 is just a little more silly =P 

A lot of people already said it but I guess it is a good reason to watch Inuyasha then:) I love both series very much,and that is because I'm a big fan of Takahashi Rumiko, the creator of both, Ranma 1/2 and Inuyaha. The story isn't really similar, but the art and the characters sure are! Inuyasha is more dramatic and serious , while Ranma has a quite stupid and illogical story, it is amazingly funny though! If you like the funny moments in Inuyasha you should know that if you watch Ranma 1/2, you'll laugh at least every 5 minutes. Also, if you were craving for a more serious story in Ranma 1/2, you should watch Inuyasha. The main characters are also very alike, Ranma Saotome and Inuyasha even have the same voice and the behavior is almost the same. This goes for their relationship with the main female as well! Of course there are a lot of fighting scenes and interesting antiheroes in both series. Both anime are by the same person, great comedy and mostly liked by people who watched it as a child or watched when they just starting to like anime, both has prideful and powerful protaginist and with a girl that they must work together 

The characters, story and art are very similar. What else do you expect if it's made by the same creators? Though the genre is not exactly the same thing. They added action (Not matrial arts, but fighting most of the time monsters) and adventure to InuYasha, so Ranma 1/2 has more comedy. Ranma 1/2 is also older, they made InuYasha after Ranma 1/2. So the art looks very similar, but InuYasha's art is better. There are some characters with almost excatly the same personality.. Akane Tendo - Kagome Higurashi Ranma Saotome - InuYasha Ryoga Hibiki - Koga Cologne - Kaede and probably more.. InuYasha and Kagome's relationship is almost the same as Ranma's relationship with Akane.. It gives me the same feeling. If you liked Ranma 1/2 I strongly recommend you to watch InuYasha. If you you watched InuYasha you might think Ranma 1/2 sucks because its old. That's what I thought before watching it, and now I'm really glad I've tryed this series. The characters are very similar and both series since they are written by the same author. Each series is on the lengthy side and although there is more story in InuYasha it still follows a similar comedic and romantic pattern with Ranma 1/2 

the desing of the characters is very similar, the personality of inuyasha and ranma and its the same and aome and akane 

The main couple hide their feelings for eachother andit has good action.

Ranma and InuYasha both involve fighting and love. Also, both of these shows were created by the same lady: Rumiko Takahashi.

Urusei Yatsura was the first big series and success of Rumiko Takahashi, it was on Urusei Yatsura where she developed her clever and wacky classic comedy stories that she would also use later on Ranma. Both series went to being highly influential on the anime industry and comedy anime was never the same after them, especially Urusei Yatsura. Needless to say that if you enjoy one, you'll also enjoy the other.  

Firstly, they're by the same mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi, and they have the same wacky, absurd type of comedy, stupid, crazy, unique characters, and surreal, insane (mis)adventures, all put into a rather normal, slice of life-ish situation. In both anime the 2 main characters don't exactly get along well with each other, even though they live under the same roof and are destined to get married. Also, the male and female protagonist of both series have about 3 or 4 people who are hopelessly in love with them, and constantly chase after them trying to break the couple up, and who, also, deeply hate the fiancée of their loved one. In both series the main female character (Akane/Lum) is a short-tempered, easily angered tsundere, but actually cares a lot about the main guy (Ranma/Ataru). Both anime have a huge cast and a lot of weird supporting characters. Also, both are really long series, and have a bunch of OAVs, specials, movies, and OSTs. The main difference is that Ranma 1/2 is better, funnier, and about martial arts, and Urusei Yatsura is a sci-fi series (even though Ranma has some fantasy/supernatural elements too). read more 

They are made by the same manga-ka. The main characters don't get along very well even though they live together and are destined to be married. Other people who are desprately trying to break them up both sets of main chartacters who live with their parents and go to the same highschool. Both shows are long running comedies that emply lots of slap stick and ironic humor and mnisadventures. Also both shows have their share of movies and ovas, and a huge OST set. 

A lot of the themes of Ranma 1/2 were first developed in Urusei Yatsura. There are so many similarities, in fact, that you may wander why you should watch one if you've seen the other (just remember that Urusei Yatsura was a hit in Japan and Ranma wasn't). There is a character Ryuunosuke that has a very similar relationship to her father to Ranma's and his dad. That character is also a female martial artist like Akane and a female crossdresser like Ukkyo. Lum and Ten wear tiger stripes like Ryoga, and all of them have fangs. Themes of Japanese folklore pervade both series. Lum's obsession with Ataru is similar to ... well, all the girl's fascination with Ranma. Ataru's relationship to Ten is similar to Ranma's relationship to P-Chan. Cherry the preist is reminiscent of Happosai. Mendou is reminiscent of Kuno, though he was trained in much the same way Ranma got Cat-Fu. As I said, the similarities are extensive. read more 

Ranma 1/2 is the spiritual successor to Urusei Yatsura. Urusei Yatsura was the first major hit authored by Rumiko Takahashi-sensei. It's the basis for pretty much every subsequent work of the author and none of them hit true as much as Ranma 1/2. If you love one then you'll definitely love the other. If you're someone who only watched Ranma 1/2 and left wanting for more then you might enjoy the more chaotic nature of Urusei Yatsura. Urusei Yatsura has a lot of experimental episodes compared to formulaic ones. Its comedy has more over-the-top slapstick nature paired with great voice acting and the plot is even more loose. A lot of the bases for Ranma 1/2 (and even InuYasha) characters can be found in Urusei Yatsura. read more 

Asu no Yoichi is a spiritual successor to Ranma's "Martial Arts Comedy Romance" genre. There's a family dojo with sisters, the main characters practice a martial art, and there's lots of accidental falling in cleavage moments. 

Both shows are comical, and include a male protagonist who have been segregated from society due to their training and everything that they experience in the city is new to them. Not to mention both of them are freeloading from a girl, both male protagonist are very strong but allow themselves to be beaten up by a specific girl.(usually the girl they like) Both male and female protagonist like each other but can't admit it.  

Fighter-guy has to go live at a dojo with a girl dedicated to fighting, as well as her sisters who don't care so much for violence. Funny situations ensue, using a lot of the same jokes, etc. 

Basically the same orientation: Martial arts, freeloading at dojo and entourage of bishojou. 

In both shows the main characters transform for different reasons. Fruits Basket is when they are hugged by someone of the opposite gender and Ranma is when they get splashed with water 

In the shows both contain main characters that are cursed and turn into animals and/or the opposite gender under certain circumstances. They are also both filled with comedy, although Fruits Basket adds a bit of drama, whereas Ranma is simply all out silly. Ranma 1/2 is more episodic and Fruits Basket has a more continuous story development. All in all, the premise of both are quite similar, and are worth a viewing.  

Basically the same taste and the same layout: people changing to animals due to a curse, a lost boy, etc... 

Both the anime have curses in which the characters chage into other forms. In Ranma 1/2 ,Ranma turns into a girl when doused by cold water and the other characters turn into different animals like a pig, a panda, a cat, a duck etc. In Fruits Basket different characters of the Shoma family turn into different animals of the Zodiac when hugged by a member of the opposite sex. Both series have comedy. 

Both Have 3 Things In Common 1. Martial Arts 2. Romace 3. LOTS OF COMEDY These 3 Things Play A Huge Part in Both Shows 

Both shows involve a guy and his romantic interest practicing martial arts, but also involve lots comedy, especially of the slapstick variety. Lots and lots of slapstick. 

They have comedy and romance with martial arts. If you like kenichi you will like ranma and viceversa 

Both of these series are created by Rumiko Takahashi. The animations style and character design are very similar. Ranma is based more on martial arts while Masion Ikkoku has more to do with day to day life. Both series share the same kind of humor and odd family/friend relationships. 

In relation to this anime its made by the same wonderful creator Rumiko Takashi so you will notice a similar drawing style and maybe a few familiar scenes. The difference is mostly in Maison Ikkoku has a lot more romantic developments than pitted rivalry's. One of the things i felt could have been more explored in Ranma was the romantic aspects of the show and when i found out that Maison Ikkoku existed i was instantly curious and after watching only 5 episodes i knew this is just what i wanted. It is nowhere near as long as Ranma so do not be intimidated to start it off, also unlike Ranma's ending they wrapped it up in a movie tho the movie adds a few characters that never made it onto the show. If you love the comedy and the romance of Ranma this may be a good follow up show for you, it has just such a familiar feel while making it all feel closer to reality.  read more 

If after watching Ranma 1/2 you're left wanting a series that has a bigger emphasis on the romance or romance-drama aspect then look no further than the author's own series Maison Ikkoku. Maison Ikkoku is way more grounded than anything like Ranma or Urusei Yatsura as there are no fantasy or sci-fi elements. It takes place in real life 1980's Japan. Despite this, it still somehow retains the comedic nature of other series of Rumiko Takahashi-sensei which is excellent. But compared to Ranma 1/2 it has a plot that progresses slowly but surely with a believable cast of characters and has a huge payoff at the end. If you watched Maison Ikkoku first then expect a more loose plot and a bigger emphasis on episodic comedy in Ranma 1/2. It's still worth watching if you're a fan but you may not find all the elements that you liked about Maison Ikkoku here. read more 

A boy is turned to a girl and otherwise. 

Both are about boys that sometimes turn into girls, both are very funny as well. If you like a good long story with something diffrent I think you schould cheek out Kämpfer and Ranma 1/2. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender will love this as much as straight people but I can see how an LGBT person would like this one alot!  

These two shows are 50% similar to each other I guess because they both go their separate paths throughout their storylines. 1. They are both gender bender shows 2. They both have plenty of nude scenes 3. They both contain fighting scenes (for all of you action lovers) 4.They both have catchy credits 

Both harem, many waifus and the main waifu is a grumpy one. Both are about a marriage promise. Main boy searching his waifu among waifus. 

Enjoyed the Harem , the male Protagonist in both the anime series experience a 4 girls around him who is directly or indirectly love him. But the male protagonist is too dense to feel it and even though he know didn't want to get involved in any of the relation! 

From the same studio. Includes a couple that argue a lot, and also a lot of love interests. They are both silly, funny and a bit romantic. 

Both shows have a similar premise and a similar type of comedy. Visual style is pretty similar between the two and many of the characters have similar personalities as well. There's also a gender bending concept shared between the two. 

An extremely skilled and strong male protagonist with a big secret has to go to school with a fiery tempered dark-haired girl who continually beats the crap out of him for social faux pas or for accidentally getting into some sort of sexually suggestive situation. Both shows are incredibly funny, as well. 

Well the author is the same.. The setting is different but the storyline is similar... You can call Kyokai no rinne the concept of Inuyasha and storyline of Ranma1/2... Boy meets girl.. they solve problems of ghost/people together Subtle romance... Bad point The story aimlessly rotates in the same point.... 

Classic over-exaggerated anime based on Chinese martial arts and wacky comedy with a very weird love story attached Differences: Ranma is a love story set in modern Japan, Dragon Ball is an adventure story set in a sci-fi fantasy world 

Ayano and Akane both act the same if the person they like disrespects them they get mad and fight them though Ranma and Kazuma are both stronger than them and like to tease them. The differences in both shows are huge in Ranma 1/2 it is a light hearted random dojo fighting show while this show is more darker and sort of funny but mostly action packed. Another common thing about both of shows are Akane and Ayano both have dads who want to push them to fall in love with the lead guy.  

Unspoken Crushes and hectic situations

Slayers has the same style of humor of Ranma except less odd martial arts and more magic but about the same number of explosions and destruction! The music and cell-animation in both shows are just wonderful and highly recommended if you want a good laugh! 

swear to god there was one scene were megumi was getting a ice cream desert with miki, exactly how girl ranma was getting ice cream with akane! 

Both are incredibly funny. Some of the interaction between Harima and Hanai is similar to Ranma and Ryoga.
