This is very similar animes, even same devloper,Inuyasha and Kikyo voice actors, here as Ranma and Akane, both have action-romance and comedy, even same personality ^_^

Another really funny anime series, written by the same manga-ka. Both series are very alike because they don't focus on a main plot. Instead, they tend to concentrate on the characters, their evolution and their relationships throughout the series.
report Recommended by SailorKagome
The styles are from an older school of animation, yet despite the simplicity there aren't any issues which stand out. Both series employ similar humor which is off the wall yet somehow still ends up working despite the fact one doesn't expect this. Both also involve fighting.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both animes have people in who are "cursed" into changing into other things (such as animals)... in Ranma 1/2 the cause is cold water in Fruits Basket the cause is being hugged by the opposite sex.
report Recommended by ChinaGirl
The draw for both isn't just the fighting, but the humor. Said humor can take some getting used to, yet both series employ the type of humor well.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
both are funny and romantic. Ranma is more funny then romantic and Maison Ikkoku is more romantic then funny. both are created by Rumiko Takahashi and both are enjoyable.

Both Ranma and this Kampfer guy have the same problem-when they turn into a girl, thay don't stare at themselvees in the mirror naked, and don't musturbate on themselves. Though they don't do it with different reasons-Ranma is a man of honour, when Kampfer guy is a pussy even in male form. so same problems, same jokes,if u liked one u may like another.

Both are rom-coms where a boy and a girl are forced to be a couple by their fathers. Though the boy and the girl hate each other at first, after a while, hate starts to change into love. Both series have also other girls who have crush on the boy. Also, while Ranma ½ is ecchi, Nisekoi isn't.

Both were originally written by the same mangaka. They both feature a similar type of slapstick humor. More importantly, they have a lot of similar character archetypes such as Ryuunosuke and Ranma, Shinobu and Akane, Lum and Shampoo, Mendo and Kuno, etc. Both are comedies at their core but also have a heavy emphasis on romance.

The setting in these two series is very similiar. Guy goes to live with a family that has three daughters. Both of the series contain same kind of humour and even though Ranma ½ has more battling, they share the same kind of feeling.
report Recommended by Necronomicon
The lead characters are incredibly similar. Kaname and Akane and both short-tempered, and violent, but also kind, sweet, and easily embarrassed. The male leads, Sagara and Ranma, are both romantically and sexually clueless. The relationship that they have with the female lead is also very similar. Both have incredible ability in combat, which often gets them in trouble.

Kyoukai no Rinne is pratically the second incarnation of Ranma 1/2. Both are comedy anime, made by the same author and both have basically the same feel. While Ranma relies on gender bending, people turning into animals and martial arts parodies to make the audicence laugh, Rinne's gags are all about the interaction with ghosts and the main character's financial problems.

Both are funny, quirky and unique 80's shonen anime with great art, intriguing and goofy characters, martial arts and the like.

Why are these similar? Beyond the fighting there may not seem like anything in common, and yet both the main male protagonist and female protagonist are strong characters. There is also the implication of romance between the two along with fighting the fact things don't feel as if they would work out.

Both series involves harems and similar humor though "Ranma 1/2" leans more towards the humor and "Love Hina" leans more towards the harem. Both employ older art styles as well and bright colors.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
The main male protagonists are brash, but the female ones also share similar personalities. Both involve supernatural, but both involve gaining a group of comrades as the hero proceeds on their jounrney. One is more goal orientated than the other, yet both are action packed.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
It has the same funny plot to it with alot of fighting.
report Recommended by StormLexer
Both have a guy/girl main character and have a focus on martial arts. they also have a major romance and plot twist. ranma is also interesting since it has a panda. watch it and see what i mean. :)

These older classics utilize similar humor and similar settings. Whether one will like the other may be a bit of a hit or miss depending on the person, yet I also feel checking the other out isn't something someone would want to miss out on.

While Ranma 1/2 has way more episodes then Juubee-chan, I'd like to think of both of them as action comedies. I think its the comedy within the characters that drive both anime. Their also old school anime with old school fighting techniques.
report Recommended by pottercourt
Both involve 2 characters who treat each other harshly, especially at first, but as the series develops they begin to have their moments where they break that front and eventually have romantic feelings toward each other. Both have hilarious comedy and i highly reccomend this anime to any who enjoyed Lovely complex. If you've seen this anime and liked it, you must watch Ranma 1/2. I'd even consider it a step up.

Both have the main character being the strongest, encountering rivals along the way who constantly re-challenge him time and time again. Many times involving a new technique or way of powering up for the rival side character to stand up to the MC this time around. Both have filler, many episodes of which is dedicated to a certain side character. Developing the character further. Both are action shows where the MC blows away some side characters (Beelzebub, the MK5. Ranma, Kuno.) Sending them flying into the distance. It doesnt sound like much, but it happens so often it sort of sets a tone for the show. Both of  read more

Lot's of humor, hate-love relationship (not admitting that they like the other person), main character has a goal and it's for a type of sport she's enthusiastic about just like Ranma and his martial arts.
report Recommended by annamay91
Both are harems written with an almost spiteful idea towards the concept, which makes for some real solid fun. Both mains subvert the trope of 'good guy normie' by being absolute jackasses, while girls (and boys in Ranma's case) just as manipulative fawn over them for the most insignificant of reasons, and as such their harems grow to a comical degree. The Baseball Game and Bench-kun churn out freaks at a pace even exceeding the Drowned Springs in Ranma. You could even compare the duality of Joro to Ranma's, though they take on a different form.
report Recommended by bastard_of_young
both of main char must do something to get an exchange but, if ranma 1/2 doing it by it self, yamada to 7nin doing it with the others, actually "the witch"
report Recommended by Hiiroda
Some of the characters are similar to those of Ranma and other Rumiko works, the humor and romance is very identical with jerk protagonist and very flawed characters. The main character is the voice of Inuyasha and later seasoned Ranma too! Ironically, the english dub voice of Kuno and female!Ranma are a couple in this series.

they both very funyy and both have martial arts and in Ranma ½: have a very srtong hearm for women and fo man

same goofy vibe- silly episodic out of this world scenarios with good casts
report Recommended by cablenewz
Both series are episodic romcoms, and while I was watching Kodocha, it reminded me of Ranma. The main difference is character ages, and Ranma's supernatural elements. But other than that, they're a lot alike IMO.
report Recommended by animewatcher8454
Gender-bender comedy with action. Ayakashi is just a bit more ecchi than Ranma.

Classic comedy anime full of mindless physical humor.
report Recommended by Dalek-kun
Well both protagonist change from guy to girl. in the beggining ranma girl and takumi behaved the same way a boy on girls body but after certain events both changed and started behaving like cheap sluts. Ranko and Takumi behave the same way around guys and will do whatever they can to achieve it. Both seiyuus sound almost the same. Shindo_L author of TSF monogatari main inspiration for TSF monogatari and Takumi was Ranma 1/2. Takumi and Ranma girl have the same height, same body type and same hair color

Both anime has cursed persons that turns into another gender or animal when getting wet by hot/cold water or in the the case of Fruits Basket: hugged by the opposite gender.
report Recommended by Scelto
Both are old-style animes around the time of the original DBZ. The stories do have one main difference involving the TYPE of romance relationship however. Ranma is a romance that requires the characters to slowly warm up to each other, whereas in Aoshi they jump right into the relationship, although it fits given the beginning of the story.
report Recommended by Shadolance
They both have the same "transexual" theme and a similar comedy

Rozen maiden will bring out a pedophile in you ,and ranma will make that woman in you come to the surface. both have some very funny moments and some strange love, which you will see in no other anime.both have some fighting loving and missunderstanding.
report Recommended by Katzen
Both have bizarre comedy, take place in Dojo though one of the leads is a part time singer. The romance is different though both very slap stick Chou has a lead romantic couple while Ranma has two people who like each or but just don't get along. Ranma is a gender bender hes a male who turns back and forth from female. The lead girl in Chou just dresses up as a boy at school. Chou Kuse ni Narisou is sometimes refer too as the female version of Ranma 1/2.
report Recommended by bunnij
they both have many love triangles, both have comedy-ranma has a little more comedy, the main couple live together because of their parents, the characters are in high school Ranma 1/2: there is romance, comedy, martial arts, and action Marmalade Boy:comedy, drama, romance, and shoujo I really enjoyed both :)

If you're looking for something with similiar drawing style to later Ranma ½ series, Haunted Junction has that and vice versa, also character expressions are super similiar + both are comedies.
report Recommended by Necronomicon
both are very funny comedies as well as having one male lead that has a lot of girls that love him as well as both having action in them as well besides just the romance and comedy. so i think a must watch if your a fan of one or the other.

Like Sumomomo, Ranma 1/2 incorporates martial arts families, an arranged marriage, love dodecahedrons, and lots of comedy. Ranma 1/2 has the additional twist of the water-induced sex-change problem.
report Recommended by alexandramuses
Wacky gender blender high school antics with a good amount of fantasy elements and fights. The main characters’ goals are to somehow go back to being an ordinary boy.
report Recommended by Shocked
They both have a female main character but they have a more manly attitude to them. Also, both the animes are made up of smaller stories that effect the ending. Both the animes are really good.
report Recommended by stackleberg
Martial arts comedy where a boy martial artist (Ranma practices an anything-goes style, while Kabamaru is a ninja descended from the Iga) is invited to live with a new family thanks to a parent/grandparent, but the new family's daughter/granddaughter doesn't get along with him.
report Recommended by Numi
Akane and Louise are both violent girls. Ranma and Saito are both popular with girls. The funny thing about Ranma 1/2 is that it's full of trouble. It's the same thing for ZnT. Plus, ZnT can be considered as a romantic comedy too, I think. The only difference is that ZnT is a tiny bit more serious than Ranma 1/2.

URGGHh Words are not enough to express how awesome both of these animes were *tears up* I personally fell inlove with both because of the love/hate thing going on oAo SERIOUSLY!!!! I also liked the fact that despite Aoba's "tomboy-ish-ness" lots of people were still able to develop a crush on her....WHICH MADE KOU SO FRIGGIN JEALOUS....well yeah i exaggerate too much but come on...don't you think that his jealousy was so cute :3 ^_^ same with Akane from ranma 1/2, even ranma has his lapses wherein he would sort of accidentally admit that he likes akane (indirectly) by being all jealous and stuff  read more

Both are two fun and bizarre martial arts animes with weird attacks and happenings.
report Recommended by frrffrfrfr
They're both about martial arts, very funny and the main character also changes into a girl once in a while XD
report Recommended by kohime8
Well, Kenshin is a lot more violent and it's more realistic (in battling scenes and all) than Ranma. Ranma doesn't have that much of a serious atmosphere as Kenshin has, it has more cheerful scenes. They both have interesting long battles, cute lover quarrels and stubborn girl characters. I'm definitely sure you'll love Ranma as well! (^_^)

Both the main boy characters are cursed and transform when they get wet! Comedy and romance (very obvious hints of it). Ramna 1/2 has less emphasis on finding the cure for the curse and is more slice of life, whereas Kero Kero is about the journey to find a cure. Both made in the 90s!
report Recommended by Pereppii
Both are 90's comedies about a gender bending main character.
