It starts out fairly good. Then enters Kiba, someone who eventually will make you want to punch the screen. He's extremely selfish, never says anything memorable, expects to be followed, and he's always aggressive and moody. It makes no sense that anyone in the universe would want to be around someone like that, but he manages to find numerous of fellow wolfs who are willing to give up their lives to follow him.
Because there are subplots with other characters on different missions, I was really hoping those moments would outbalance the annoying sight of Kiba. They didn't. Episode 19 got me closer than ever

Honestly, this feels like a masterpiece that has been overlooked for far too long. If it ever gets a remastering, id imagine itd be VERY popular. That being said, lets go over it. This series has a never ending struggle that has a hopeful tone to it. The characters feel relatable and well rounded, giving many different and unique perspectives of the main plot. My only real complaint is that I wished to see more.
The technology and the state of the world feels mysterious and perhaps it is a part of this series charm eventhough I would have loved to delve in deeper. I ... Jul 18, 2015
Overall Rating would be a 7,5.
I have JUST finished watching this anime, and I've got to say, I am indeed a little bit mindblown. (I apologize for any mistakes since it is 1 AM.) Wolf's Rain was a beautiful anime to watch, since the characters are very well developed, in my opinion. It had a rather open ending which was kind of upsetting me because I am not a fan of such things, but I think that the characters were all really relatable. (If you look besides the fact that Kiba really got on my nerves sometimes.) The character development of Tsume was just amazing. I ... Oct 18, 2007
First of all, Wolf's Rain is 26 Episodes plus 4 Extra OVA episodes to complete the series. You MUST watch the OVA episodes otherwise you won't know the ending.
Okay Wolf's rain is one of the greatest anime series I have ever watched, If you have not watched this series OBTAIN IT NOW! It is well worth it and up there with Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop. 10/10 From me, Dub and Sub are both equally good with great voice actors on each side. Oct 15, 2008
To be honest I got addicted to this anime from a trailer I saw. And I am proud to admit I don't regret buying the boxset.
Wolf's Rain is based in a post-apocalyptic earth where the planet has begun to die and decay. Humanity clings to existence in it's cities. out of the cities lies a barren wasteland devoid of most living things. It is said in the legendary "book of the moon" that when the earth is about to die completely wolves (which are thought to be extinct) will lead everyone to paradise. (paradise being similar to the garden of Eden. (well that's what I ... Feb 23, 2008
Wolf's Rain is a very good series. It's placed in a largely action-oriented, urban environment, and incorporates many science-fiction themes. It feels like a shounen anime, though with a greater dramatic emphasis than most. The dub is fine, if that's your preference.
I'll leave the story summaries and the general praise of the series up to other reviewers. In my opinion, it really doesn't deserve perfect 10s all the way. There are more than a few plotholes throughout, the characters can be bland at times, and I personally couldn't stand the opening song. It started out well, but slowed down in the middle. In truth, I ... Jan 22, 2023
I'm going to be honest, for the entire first half of this show, I didn't really like it. I thought it had a weird concept, and had long stretches of dry characterization, which all moved at a glacial pace. Had I rated it before the mid-season recaps, I would have maybe given it a 6. But, after the recaps, like a lunar flower which blooms at night, Wolf's Rain really comes into its own in the second half, and only gets better the closer to the end you get. I was floored by how compelling it was past this point, and my opinion was totally

One of the best things about this anime is its pacing. In a 26-episode series, you would usually expect too much fillers to make-up for the lack of substance or too little episodes to contain one big plot. Although there are 4 episodes dedicated for flashbacks, every single episode would always explain the characters and their drives. The pacing of this anime makes the plot and the characters more meaningful.
STORY: The story revolves around four protagonists who travel in search of their future in a place called Paradise. This alone drives them to do anything - even to death. Although this may seem superficial to ... Jun 6, 2008
I believe wolf's rain to be one of the most memorizing and action filled, dramatic edge of the seat thriller of all times. It's by far the best anime i've ever seen, and its a damn shame it had to come to an end.
The story for wolf's rain is very well written and thought out. Each episode was action filled or even sadly eye watering. It never had a dull moment in this storyline, and for that I give it a 9. The art in this anime was simply astonishing! It was perfect, the affects of the fighting scenes were by far the best i've ... Apr 1, 2020
So I have a problem with Wolf's Rain. It is often compared to its younger brother Texhnolyze. Texhnolyze is in my top 10; Wolf's Rain is in my top 50. What happened?
[Movie Announcer Voice:] From the creators of timeless classics like Evangelion, Lain, Code Geass, and Cowboy Bebop... comes a dark, dystopian, atmospheric fantasy-sci-fi series that is bound to sweep you off your feet. Wolf's Rain, 2003. [End Trailer] "OMG, every anime the announcer mentioned is in my top 10!" - me Again, so what happened? Wolf's Rain has the right formula, the right people, and the right feel. They had the technology, but it's just not Texhnolyze. ... Jan 4, 2015
I'll start out by saying that I hold a sweet spot to this anime. I had long fallen out of my casual anime days by the point that I ran into this. Previously I had never known of any classics or what was "good" rather than what was popular. This is the anime that invested faith in me and turned me onto the path of popular anime such as "Cowboy Bebop", "Samurai Champloo" and the list goes on. While the first episode did nothing for me, I highly recommend to keep going if you feel the same way.
I'm not here to tell you what ... Feb 23, 2016
Wolf's Rain is in a word: OneoftheworstanimesIhaveeeverseen
I can not believe I watched this whole thing. The only reason I watched past episode 6 was because someone jokingly lied to me and told me it got better...it only got worse. It was boring with some lame action. A few people claim that the story line is deep and thought provoking (blah blah blah). It felt more like the story writers were trying to be deep, but didn't know what to be deep about. I was conflicted when it came to the characters. I wanted to like them, but I just couldn't. There wasn't any one who stood out ... Nov 27, 2010
What can I say about Wolf's Rain? It's a show that deserves your attention, but, i guess you won't watch it unless I convince you why it is a very good anime.
The opening song "Stray", sung by Steve Conte and written by Yoko Hanno (by the way, the song and the lyrics are awesome) makes the entrance in a world in which it was thought that wolfs had been extincted for 200 years. Those who are wolf lovers, do not worry, they did not exactly disappear- in order to protect themselfs from being killed, wolfs learned to change their animal form into a human ... Dec 26, 2008
I am just an ordinary person who has never really been fully into anime. When a friend told me about Wolf's Rain after reading the story I have been writing I thought it might be a good idea to watch it. I sat down and watched all the way to ep 15 till 2am then had to get some sleep for school. While at school that day my chest felt like I was being stabbed and my mind kept wondering about what was going to happen next. I was so zoned out that day at school my teachers even noticed it(major nerd). When I got

There are many anime that "hardcore" or "patrician" anime viewers will tell you that you need to watch or you're not "real." Cowboy Bebop and NGE, are the two best examples. Though both of them are very good, classic shows that, yes, you should watch, they are both flawed in their own rights. The one anime that I feel should get more recognition as an anime-you-should-watch is Wolf's Rain. You can ask almost any hardcore fan if you should watch it and, if they've seen it, they will almost certainly tell you to watch it. However, I have rarely heard anyone telling others, unprovoked, that

It's kinda hard to write a review about this anime, since there isn't much for me to criticize on. The story is extraordinary good, the characters are well designed with loads of character development going on, the art is of a superb standard and well, it has everything going for it...
This is the anime that made me an instant Bones fan, they made something unique here. The amount of depth they put into the story is incredible, the main characters are all very different and and all the backgrounds are pretty much explored, even those of most of the supporting characters. The plot progression is ... Jun 5, 2015
Wolf's Rain, known for it's very well made animation and art (for a title from 2003, it's really gorgeous) is a must-watch for every anime enthusiast, and if you ask why then the answer is simple: because it's unique, or I like to think that it is. Taking place in a wolrd ruled by nobles , where the poor struggle to make their living, a lone wolf seeks Paradise. Nothing much is said about that imaginary world except that it looks futuristic and beat up by wars. And speaking of wars, each of the characters seem to be fighting their own wars gainst their fears

This is easily my favorite anime of all time.
The beginning of the first episode is a little off-putting. The color palate is muted and dark and the uninviting city looms in the background. However, Wolf's Rain evolves from that point (while keeping it's relatively muted color tones) into a blossoming story with themes of natural instinct, heroism, human nature, destiny, sacrifice, happiness, contentment and pain. The soundtrack sets the style for the rest of the show. Yoko Kanno uses her versatility to the best of her ability. You get some salsa-type music in the cities, calm harp pieces, epic battle songs, requiems, french ... Sep 1, 2011
These are my Reviews if they're helpful great, if not, that's great too. I am NOT adept at writing/typing this is merely a contribution to the site. I assume the reader has finished the show.
Story This will be covering both the original series along with the 4 episode OVA as a single set. Wolf's Rain has a premise that for years kept me from giving it a fair chance. The thought of Wolves disguising themselves as humans sounded silly to me along with a flower in the form of a girl. Only wolves can reach paradise, they are also enamored with "The Flower Maiden" so right from ... Feb 2, 2024
I have no idea what is going on in this show?? It’s so insanely edgy it feels like some middle school wattpad fanfiction with equal amount of cringe to match it. The world is rich but not explored, the history is complex but not explained at all, the main characters are all bland mary-sues with no personality, and the plot itself is extremely unclear. Honestly even serious moments make me laugh because this show is so ridiculous. The animation is good though. Whatever website told me this was like Golden Kamuy is absolutely insane for that. Dunno if this will grow on me but I’m
