Until finishing Ano Natsu, I had thought the OBVIOUS similarities between the two were nothing more than examples of the anime industry's lack of originality. But it turns out they were written by the same person, with Ano Natsu linking into Onegai Teacher at the very end. So, it wasn't theft: it was just the writer being lazy. Glad that's clear, now.
Two alien Mary Sues come from space. They have the same basic character designs. One becomes a teacher; one becomes a student. They fall in love with scrawny, four-eyed midgets. There's drama.
Same producer, same style, same atmosphere. Both stories are about an alien girl (with red hair) come to earth and meet the Hero. Both stories are happened in a school at remote area. Both Hero are wearing glasses and are students. Both Heroine are older than the Heros. Both have a girl likes the Hero. Yukari is acting very similar characters in both animes.
Same writer, story, character designs, setting and even opening theme singer (KOTOKO)
If you've watched one then you've practically watched the other and can update your MAL list accordingly ... disappointingly unoriginal ..
Oh come on, how similar can you get with these two? Good looking aliens? Check. Guy romantically involved with said alien? Check. School setting? Check. The main difference I can point out is the storyline. Onegai Teacher tipped more on the drama scale. AnoNatsu has better art style and animation though. Anyway, both were entertaining to watch.
Aside from the having the same writer, Yousuke Kuroda, the overall tone of the series follows the same structure as Onegai Teacher.
1) A lot of inner monologues between the two main characters' and exploring their emotions with each other. The viewers are shown all the worries and thoughts of the characters. As if they were living in the character's shoes.
2) Easy to understand conflicts. A lot of explanations with dialogues, monologues, and clearly structured scenes to reassure all aspects of the viewer's thoughts.
The story is practically the same, only with characters with different names, but if they liked the romantic theme of the boy who falls in love with the beautiful alien woman and the existence of a strong love triangle, then I think this series should of interest.
A beautiful story of love, friendship, comedy and drama.
Ano Natsu de Matteru and Onegai Teacher are romance anime that have a very similar storyline where the main male protagonists fall in love with an alien girl from outer space. Both series feature amazing animation and character design. The conflicts that carry the story are pretty much the same and many of the characters bear a strong resemblance, in terms of design and personality. It's safe to say that, if you enjoyed watching Ano Natsu de Matteru, you will most likely enjoy Onegai Teacher, and vice versa.
It's the pseudo-remake of Onegai Teacher. Rejoice.
-They're both straight romances.
-They both showcase a high school boy as the protagonist.
-The heroines are both older (senpai in Ano Natsu and sensei in Onegai) then the protagonist.
-The female leads are both red-haired bespectacled aliens with cute companions (Rinon and Marie).
-The cast in general feel similar.
-They eventually live together.
-They occur in a rural setting.
-They both showcase a love triangle with the protagonist's close female friend.
-They have the same writer.
-The story also feels similar.
-The art feels similar.
-Even the sound feel similar.
-Most importantly, They're both interesting.
As alot of people have already pointed out, this anime is very similar to onegai teacher. (same writer/producer) However, i'd like to extrapolate from that and go as far as to say that the two animes occur in the same universe.
Firstly, lets compare Ichigo (strawberry) vs. Remon (lemon). Looks very similar and have the same VA. They've implied in the last couple of episodes that Remon had standstills. She mentions about being "eternally 17" and how Tetsurou teases Remon for "still being in highschool". In addition, her personality is almost one in the same as ichigo. Also Remon reiterates the words ichigo spoke, "Don't stop. Stay in motion. Go forward."
Lake and the trees. Seems like a reoccurring theme. Nagano lake was where onegai teacher took place, hinting at the same location.
Ichika Takatsuki is in fact Kei x Mizhuo's daughter???
Mizuho is known to have been half human and half alien. The implication is such that it is acceptable in her society to bring back humans to live together.
Lastly Kei was 155cm and Mizuho was 170cm
assuming basic mandelian genetics (which height is pretty well approximated to be)
155+170 / 2 = 162.5.
Ichika is 163cm. Coincidence? Well you can say so is everything else.
Kei has red eyes, Mizuho has purple eyes and Ichika has blue eyes. read more
The story line of both is similar. Both have an alien and human romance in it with a good ending, give the same feeling/atmosphere, have something to do with the theme of summer, have similar art, and are interesting.
Both Series is about alien girls (Both have red hair and glasses) come to earth and fall in love with a human boy (both have glasses). Both series have more than one love triangle going on and spuriously the main setting is at school (Like any other high school harem) Both series also sharing the same genres such as Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi, Ecchi & Drama.
The only differance between Please Teacher and Ano Natsu de matteru is that the alien became a teacher at the school (Please Teacher) instead of a Grade 12 student.
Never seen two series that's so much alike with each other so if like either show then i'm about 99% sure that you'll enjoy the other one. read more
Is the same thing!! really, sometimes i think..is kei kusanagi and mizuho-sensei in cosplay?? :S
The story is very very very similar, the personalities of characters, etc
Ano natsu de matteru has better animation.
-Both have an alien that comes to earth
-In Both the main character finds out and has to keep it a secret
-In both the guy falls for the girl (in Onegai Teacher The girl also falls for the boy right away)
-Both have another girl that likes him and he has to chose between the two
-They both have the same concept
-Both are extremly Fantastic anime that made me wont to meet an alien :)
So If you've loved Ano Natsu de Matteru You'll love Onegai Teacher
- Same author
- Same alien bullsh*t
- Similar character designs (four-eyed midget MC, Voluptuous main heroine)
- Similar storyline
- Onegai teacher is slightly more mature than Ano natsu.
* Both have similar characters ( not by designs, but personalities )
* Alien girl/woman living under the same roof with four-eyes male lead...
* Strong SOL/Supernatural/School vibes...
* Lot's of annoying monologues....again again and again....
* In both, characters looks like 15/17 years old as minimum, but they're acting like 10 year old kids who doesn't know anything...even the super/high IQ alien girl...wtf.....
* They both have several hilarious or just funny moments...
* Romance actually goes somewhere....idk it's just plain boring in AnoNatsu...unlike Onegai Teacher!
Neither has much to talk about the difference between the two, because they are IDENTICAL, simply Ano Natsu de Matteru was based completely on Onegai Teacher but Ano Natsu is best known for being current, having a beautiful animation, then you who already watched Ano Natsu de Matteru run and watch Onegai Teacher which is simply great, particularly prefer Onegai Teacher, is spicier and has a more charismatic characters.
Plots are similar with some minor differences. An alien goes to earth to complete a mission and where in one anime she disguises herself as a teacher in the other anime disguises herself as a student. They both fall in love with their classmate/student who both discover the other's identity. I liked Ano Natsu de Matteru better because I think it has better character dynamic and character/relationships development. And it was just so cute ^^
Both are about attractive female aliens that invade a males house and go to school. They both have to marry the male, against the male's wishes. The plots are practically the same, but I will not say in which cases because my reasons are spoilers.
Both have a normal boy who learns the main girl's secret. (In Onegai Teacher she's an alien, and in Seto no Hanayome she's a mermaid.) After learning this, they have to get married. Both are supernatural and funny.
-One boy is the protagonist, he is visited by a Beautiful and perfect woman.
-The Woman falls in love with him
-The sisters of the woman, the friends of the guy and the lovers too, breaks the "precious moment"
-Little mature sexual references.
Both have the same cougar to tadpole kind of relationship.
Both cougars have special powers, and the tadpoles is just an ordinary boy.
Both have the same fantasy and romance genre.
One has an extra sci-fi genre while the other has an extra magic genre.
The boy in one anime is just an ordinary high-school student with a bad case of narcolepsy, while the boy in another anime is a bratty ruler.
The cougar in one anime really does maintain a romantic relationship with her tadpole, while the cougar in another anime acts like a mother figure to her tadpole.
Both have the same sotacon element where it involves mature lady to young boy kind of romance. It also involves mature lady having special ability and young boy being just a simple human, and beside there is no anime version of the classic "The King and I" movie, where the anime SSU is more related to.
Like in Please Teacher, an ordinary Earth boy and an alien female basically fall in love, but in Please Teacher they had to get married due to circumstance. Also, Narue is only half alien, her mom's an Earthling,
and the Teacher, Miss Mizuho is also half Earthling, and like Narue's dad, was sent to observe the Earth by a galatic federation. Please! Teacher is much more risque than Narue though.
This is set in the same town and share cross over story with it as well. Theres a new set of main characters with romantic problems just as bad as these two but there is a lack of aliens. It is mostly just teenagers who don't understand love yet. oh and a guy and his possibly little sister who might be his girlfriend eventually.
Anyway if your a fan of onegai teacher, onegai twins is almost exactly a like but i found it even better cause it was slightly more relate-able and not as far fetched in a way. Also in a way the characters were more or less more enjoyable since there was more of them and they just seemed to be more energetic in the plots. read more
Same Concept; a student and their teacher is married but unable to make their relationship public. In Onegai Teacher the student is male and the teacher is female but in Okusama wa Joshikousei the student is female and the teacher is male.
Both series involves the relationship between a teacher and student with mixture themes of comedy, drama, and of course romance.
There are misunderstandings in the story and love trials as episodes progresses in a slice of life style.
The main protagonists are also similar in terms of personalities.
Both about hot women, and they end up falling in love with a high school boy, turning his life upside down. Although Onegai Teacher can be maybe more emotional than this, it is practically the same in the other aspects. Another close relation is that the girl which the main character falls in love with is also an alien.
Very similar settings of an alien coming to Earth and eventually falling in love with the male MC.
The male MC's are VERY similar, they even look the same! Both grow mentally stronger over the course of the series but they're both still a bit of a push-over.
Onegai Teacher focuses on hiding the existence of aliens while Cat Planet Cuties flaunts showing off the aliens to the world.
They are both about a pink haired girl from another planet coming to earth and meeting a weak male protagonist that has an illness and falling in love with one another. Both have some comedy and eechi elements to them.
If you're looking for some short comedy and romance, then these two series are the way to go especially when a boy and a girl living under the same roof is one of the themes of both series.
Additionally, there are those awkward moments and sexual tension between the main characters that you can cut through with a knife.
Great series for fans for those looking for romance (with a little ecchi and mature themes) ;)
These two are similar because in the beginnings, it's suppose to be a fake relationship. Then they get stuck in love triangles from each side and later on they develop feelings for each other <3 <3 .
Talk about a love story? C:
the same teacher and young person kind of relationship , except in Onegai Teacher was more like a Cougar and Tadpole relationship, in Nobunaga, it is more like a loli relationship between male teacher and a 14 year old girl.
Without giving too much info both stories have a similar concept of a young male interacting with an older woman. As the story progresses, they start to be drawn towards each other.
The difference is in "Onegai Teacher" the MC gets married early on in the story, while "Kotonoha no Niwa" is more subtle.
Both shows have a very real relationship feel to them. Both lead female characters have a very similar personality, very quiet, cute and at times can get very jealous and angry. Please teacher isn't as long and the story isn't as developed because its only 12 episodes, but it still has a very good story and because of that I think you should give please teacher a shot.
These anime feature "weird" female MCs in romance + school settings, so weird you'd fall in love at first sight. Doubts and questions about love and faith in one's lover are even explored critically. Adequately similarly unusual plot devices are also present. One obvious difference is that NnK X is about the relationship between two students while OT is between a student and a teacher. Overall, the ratings both have have quite truth in them and that they're absolutely shows of the same weird caliber.
These two anime start sillying from beginning to end. Even though being silly, they both bind you with their fluency. A crazy sexy curvy hot female alien comes to a harmless boy's world and events occur. But onegai teacher is more romantic and less funny according to FLCL. I hope one day you think about watching onegai teacher :-)))
They are both about how a certain disease influences the relationship between the two main characters. Also, the two main characters get together quickly in both of them, and there is one other girl who is in love with the protagonist that again, creates difficulties for the relationship of the protagonist.
Plus there is the smaller girl character who's the silent type and a bit mysterious.
Both the animes also have their healthy dose of drama involved.
Both have a girl that came from a weird place living with a shy regular boy. And both make a very shy couple. Side characters are also very similar and the voice actress for Sensei and Belldandy is the same.
