Both have a very similar genre/setting. In Yozakura Quartet you have youkai (kind of supernatural beings that are usually in a human form) and in Kyoukai no Kanata you have youmu (pretty much the same thing accept they attack people and most don't have a human form) and both series are supernatural action. However, YQ is more about coexisting with the youkai while KnK is more about exterminating them. Both also have half-versions of the monsters in their worlds. However, YQ does have a bit more fan service and over the top action while KnK has some romance and moe.

A group of friends fight together, though sometimes against one another, to save their city or world from evil yokai/spirits with some comedy, implied romance & good/catchy OST's along the way.

These shows have similar animation style and some well animated action sequences. There are some story elements which are similar.

- Similar visuals (including character designs) - Broad cast of unique and lovable characters with each of them contributing to story - Similar urban setting. City itself plays important role. - Lots of comedy and action

These shows have strong female main characters. Supernatural elements and magic are parts of their worlds.

- The supernatural is treated as standard giving both series a feel of magical realism - Large cast of very colourful characters, all with wildly different designs and personalities, characters you really want to find out more about - Similar art styles, full of energy and unafraid of imaginative colour use - Fantastic animation with lots of background detail and movement so you're never at a loss for what to look at

What do you get when you combine a colorful cast of characters, unapologetic yet never vulgar fan service, super power out the wazoo and true friendship? - it should be noted that both shows make use of fanservice, however it is limited and never becomes obnoxious or unpleasant - the story revolves around a group of friends with unique personalities - well directed and fast paced action full of energy and spirit - dynamic character interactions and good chemistry - quirky super powers - atypical endings - entertaining, touching and easily watchable - underrated and often overlooked - emphasis on friendship without it ever becoming too "in your face" and without making the "power  read more

Both animes have a lot of main characters.

Similar settings with Youkai/Curses, contrast between really well animated action scenes & drama and more lighthearted comedic segments. Fun cast of characters (both main and side), interesting antagonists. Good soundtracks, awesome openings/endings. Chances are high that if you enjoyed JJK you'd probably find some value in YZQ as well!

- The residence of the figures are not inhabited by humans alone, there are also stealth - Compatibility between humans and demons was well established

I felt reminded of Yozakura Quartet in multiple stages of the movie. Lovable characters fighting with creative and whimsical powers, in a world that blends spirituality and mythology with our modern world. They have similar vibes for sure!

The similar principle of having a group of people (resembling teenagers, if not actually teens) maintain balance in a town between normal people and the empowered (spirits, in the case of Yozakura Quartet; minimum holders in the case of Hamatora). Hamatora has a slightly darker vibe than Yozakura Quartet, but YQ is funnier, in my honest opinion.

The character designs, color palette, and action sequences in these two anime showcase Ryo-timo's signature style of bright colors and simple but flashy animations. If you're a fan of the art style and animation of one of these shows, then I'd definitely recommend you watch the other.

Both are super underrated shows about a bunch of kids coming into their supernatural abilities. They both have tasteful fanservice, great animation, and the likable characters drive both of these shows. If you like one I guarantee you'll like the other.

Both have a city that is ran by a highschool girl and a group dedicated to keeping the status quo of the city. Both shows have bad-ass females. Both have a blue-haired, mysterious bishounen working behind the scenes. Both series I think have top notch animation and BGM.

Both are quality supernatural shounens Both deal with the balance between humans and youkais Both deal with protagonists that have to take over from their legendary grandparent. If you like one then you would like the other

A group of teenagers maintaining balance between two factions within a city. One of the factions is normal, while the other has powers or are spirits.

This is a remake that follows the manga unlike the old series.

There is an agency working to promote relations between humans and spirits. The antagonist of both series are related to the protagonists in some way (spoiler, so I won't say). The teens in Yozakura Quartet are more powerful though.
