Both are about spiritual powers, youkai etc. and in many parts of both series you'll find lots of familiarity. Perhaps Yato's social awkwardness is nothing aganist Akihito's pervert self, but in any case both of them are quite entertaining. Kyoukai is has more dark side story compared to Noragami thought.
These two shows are both popular examples of a certain type of supernatural stories that have become a staple of anime in the past few years. Mixing the mundane, calming feeling of the slice-of-life genre with a very distinctive supernatural element that you find only in anime and manga. The world is not as one-dimensional as you think and a roaming spirit might lurk in every corner. Only few humans can see them and only fewer are gifted enough to fight them, But drifting to the other side is not all fun and games because while our beloved heroes might have good intentions, there are people (or gods) out there whose intentions are not so pure and it is a protagonists responsibility to stop them! There are a lot of anime of that genres that you can watch but I personally find Noragami and KNK to be some of the most fun-to watch series this genre has to offer. With sleek visual styles courtesy of Kyoto Animation and Studio Bones, a balanced mixture of drama and action, and a dash of romantic undertones, Both shows will keep you entertained and maybe manage to make you chuckle and/or shed a tear in the process. read more
Both have the same type of vibe to them, I feel. Both seem to contain happy and shallow characters at first, then you fall in love with all of them and learn of their struggles and want them to be happy. Both are great and I recommend both!
Noragami and Kyoukai no Kanata are supernatural theme series involving spirits and apparitions. The main characters gets themselves involved in a variety of ways that changes their lives while helping others.
Throughout both series, there's internal struggles explored regarding the main characters, in particular with their pasts that are reflected by flashback scenes. At the apex of the story, these internal struggles manifest and brings out feelings that are reflected by our characters' reactions.
There's a small cast of characters with strange interactions between them. Expect comedy, drama, and action.
These are really similar anime. Only a handful of people can see the supernatural events and monsters. The characters fight against evil. The story setting and characters are more interesting.
Both series are about a 'boundary' between two realms/worlds, where evil spirits are coming into the real world. Both have protagonists that have superhuman powers (Yato and Mirai) that are funny characters who are hiding an important issue, and both have a 'normal' friend (Hiyori and and Akihito) who try and lead them in the right direction, morally.
Both series have to do with the supernatural (i.e. yokai, spirits). The two also share a fair bit of drama, subtle comedy, and even brief romantic undertones.
They're also similar in the sense that you're allowed to watch characters develop and grow stronger together as they help one another reach their goals.
Though obviosuly different in many ways, they do share significant similarities. For example, both give off the same fantasy vibe, and they both involve a character that gets caught up in something to do with the supernatural.
Both series have supernatural elements, but more than that they have the same elegant and sincere approach to deep inside of human soul. Both made me smile and cry at the same time.
Both animes have spirits where only a handful of people can see them.
Both main characters have "bad" pasts.
Both deal with a term they call a "boundary"
Both have a supernatural theme where they fight spirits.
Both are comedic in some ways.
Both have a romantic feel that's not totally canon at first but seems like it might be.
Both animes deal with a theme similar to fantasy; they both contain otherworldly creatures. They also both have protagonists who fight said creatures.
Both rely on humour and plot alike.
Viewers be warned that I enjoyed Noragami far more than KnK.
(NOTE: This entry keeps messing up no matter what I do. I am recommending KYOUKAI NO KANATA for fans of NORAGAMI, not the other way around.)
While Noragami is undoubtedly the more popular of these two, both are supernatural action series featuring a distinct variation on similar subject matter: battling against creatures unseen by the general public and focusing on those charged with the task of defeating them.
Kyoukai no Kanata a.k.a. Beyond the Boundary has perhaps slightly more slick animation, but just as humorous and action packed; with great characters and slice of life segments that don't feel much like filler.
It's an easy recommendation for any fan of the former. read more
If you liked the concept of people defeating "other world monsters" then you will certainly like either of these series. Each will have a mix of serious episodes and fun to watch ones. Each have a character who is stuck between being a half human half monster and needs to figure out themselves.
- Both consist of supernatural themes and contain similar action.
- Both have similar stories and ways with the phantoms. (They both focused on a small group, both main charactesr are supernatural beings of some sort.)
- Both anime about the characters trying to fend off supernatural monster while building relationships and getting to know each other.
- Both anime use the same style of blending comedy, drama and action.
- Both are modern fantasies with an underlying mystery and a well-rounded, interesting cast.
- The Animation and Art is also somewhat similar.
- Both have the same plot style of blending comedy , drama and action.
The action scenes are top notch with great characters and lots of heart. Noragami has more heart than action and Beyond the boundary has more action than Noragami. read more
They are really similar . Both are actions anime, based on supernatural spirits borned from human's feelings that the main characters are hunting . Animation and fight scenes are comparable . They both include a romance story between two characters . And to end with, the charm of those series lies in the humor, which is very concentrated and distracting .
Both series' involve the extermination of spirits (youkai), and both involve a central protagonist that has the potential to become way stronger than the rest. Both series also have their share of comedic and dramatic moments, however Noragami is more focused around the former
If you’re a fan of the supernatural, fighting demons, and a touch of school life you’ve found the right series. Noragami and Kyoukai no Kanata have very similar atmosphere and gorgeous animation, coupled with some golden comedy to lighten the dark parts of the story. Lovable characters, enticing action sequences, and a tiny bit of the touchy feely. Noragami and Kyoukai have such a similar feel not just in story but in setting, while being completely unique to each other. If you enjoyed one of these I highly recommend you check out the other.
Both are similar in that they are engaged in exorcising spirits or youkai, bad creatures, something supernatural. Also similar in their genres: romance, drama, comedy; and also its atmosphere. Why do I recommend Noragami, because this anime title is better and more interesting, the music in it is simply amazing, a very mesmerizing plot, also very cool characters: D
However, I recommend both of them, because Noragami and kyoukai no kanata are very funny TV series, I really liked both of them, I recommend!
kyoukai no kanata and noragami resemble quite a lot
both series are supernatural theme involving spirits that attack human
both series have well-blended comedy, action, romance?
the female protagonists are saved by the male protagonists
Slaying spirits, phantoms, ayakashi and the like are the common plot and setting of this anime. The characters have their powers to eliminate those supernatural enemies. They also protect people from the danger that comes from them.
Both harness the concept of hunting other worldly beings for rewards in order to function, whether it be grief seeds, or money. Both also have a seemingly unstoppable force that our main characters encounter.
They both show the loneliness of people, chosen to fight against evil spirits. Also, these people collect demons' souls and get personal rewards for them (soul gems in Madoka Magica, and gem-stones-like in KnK).
Both have magical-girl type characters. Both main characters get more powerful through friendship. Girly art style with intense fighting. Both are dark fantasies mixed with the supernatural. Similarly likable characters. Beautiful art and music in both.
The two animes are dramatic yet have some joyous moments in it. The main female protagonists in both stories are hesitating on the decision that they have, whether to do it or not. Both stories revolves around killing monsters, which is a sworn duty and a way of living(kind of). These two are really good, could make you stick on the series till you finish it.
Both have characters that have special powers
Both anime have creatures the main character 'hunts'
Both main characters have pink hair
Both anime are very colourful
Both anime have a similar ambiance, but Kyoukai no Kanata is lighter
Both main characters are faced with a difficult choice
Both have the following similarities:
- Two worlds where people get skills, which they use to eliminate monsters to obtain gems.
- The protagonist girl doubts about her own power.
- A dark environment is shown between the doses of comedy and things in life.
Both similar vibe, in both worlds there´s character who fight demons in order to live,
the main is a girl who suffers because of her magical powers in both anime
Puella Magi (Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica) and Kyoukai no Kanta's form of economy is very similar. When you defeat a monster it drops an ore that can be appraised for currency to live off of. The organizations are also similar for example Kyoukai no Kanata has Spirit World Warriors that fight off monsters that create natural disasters while in Puella Magi the Magical Girls also fight monsters creating negative energy/disasters.
Both Rika and Mirai have similar personality and character design. Also Yuuta and Akihito are drawn to our lovely female protagonist. In Chuunibyou: our main female and friends are chuunibyou or 8th grade syndrome aka Delusion of Grandeur. They are able to create imaginative battle sequences which we see throughout the series. In Kyoukai no Kanata: everyone has some sort of supernatural powers within them. Both series retain the comedy and drama atmosphere. Kyoto Animation is the same studio for both Chuunibyou, Kyoukai no Kanata and many other series. I would recommend you check out their other works.
The fake 8th grader syndrome fantasy delusions that Rikka has in Chuunibyou are very similar in style (both being made by Kyoto Animation) to the real fights in Kyoukai no Kanata. Both have similar male and female protagonists where the male protagonist is pulled into problems by the female protagonist who won't leave him alone. They also have both a mix of comedy and drama, but from what I've seen of KnK so far, it has more drama than comedy while Chu2 is more of an even mix.
while chunninbyou's supernatural side is fake, KnK has it real
both of the anime is created by KyoAni, so it has the same visual art overall, and it's marvelous too
- Both shows was made by Kyoto Animation.
- The Character designs and their mannerism is Similiar.
- Premise in Both shows is Similar. ( male character dragged into all sorts of problems by a strange, socially awkward female lead.)
- Despite the fact that Chuunibyou is comedy both anime have well animated fight sequences.
- Same type of Story Telling!
- Both pull at your heartstrings near the end of the series and leave you wanting more.
- They are both beautiful and endearing succinctly told stories.
The situations in Beyond the Boundary are more serious and often dangerous, whereas the situations in Chuuibyou are mostly comedic. However, in both anime the socially awkward girl does lead to a lot of comedic social situations for the guy. read more
both are by the same studio, are similarly enjoyable, with pretty much the same downfalls. the characters throughout both are largely endearing, if tropey, and their daily lives are full of feel-good goofy antics, with both main heroines having a few deeper and more emotional undertones to their usual airheaded vibe.
quite often in both, the actual plot ends up a little bit buried under slice-of-life moe, which, in chu-2 isn't so much of a problem, but as KnK is a little more ambitious with its fantasy setting and plot, it's a little more noticeable there. in my opinion, KnK makes up for what it loses there with its absolutely stunning art and design, though! read more
Both have characters who can manipulate their blood to be used as a weapon. DMWL is more of humans fighting humans, and kyoukai is humans and "demons." Both have action, blood, romance, drama, and psychological themes
In both, the protagonist has the power to control their own blood and use it as weapon. The art styles vary dramatically (DmW is seinen while KnK is shounen) and DmW has more horror, but they both have a decent amount of drama. Both of the other protagonists who do not have the power to control blood have powers as well.
Both have the following similarities:
- Protagonist who can control blood and doubt what is right.
- Revenge for loved ones
- Fight to get money.
- Beings with supernatural abilities.
I'd say this if you were more interested in the action aspect of the show than the romance. Deadman Wonderland has the same type of blood powers but has none of the lightheartedness expressed in Kyoukai no Kanata.
The Main female from both anime must face Phantoms/Youmu in order to live. The Main guy from both series help them. They are in a club that deals with these phantoms/youmu. Both anime made by Kyoto Animation.
Both are animated by Kyoto and showcase kids with superpowers in a high school setting, but Kyoukai no Kanata is far more endearing and self aware, and has actual stakes in its plot established early on.
- Shiny anime with very smooth animation (as expected of KyoAni).
- Female lead is poor and works on exterminating supernatural creatures for food.
- Confident male lead who is a bit of a bookworm.
- General theme of high schoolers battling random supernatural creatures for rewards.
Kyoukai no Kanata is slower and sadder with a shy lead female. Musaigen has a confident lead female but is pretty much a souped up harem complete with all the necessary fanservice.
Both are done by Kyoto Animation, and as such have amazing animation and art. Both follow the story of high school phantom hunters who fight youmu/phantoms to keep the peace and earn some compensation. Both are lighthearted and are a great watch, however KnK is more story based, where MnPW is more episodic comedy based.
These are both school/fantasy/supernatural shows made by Kyoto Animation.
Both shows revolve around the concept of high school students with powers in a world where ghosts, yokai, ect. exist .
KnK have Spirit World Warriors that hunt Youmu while Phantom World has a hunting-club that hunts Phantoms.
Both have epic fighting scenes and have beautiful animation (as expected from KyoAni)
While KnK labels itself as a "dark fantasy', Phantom World is more of an ecchi/SoL.
Both great animations (similar drawings), both mainly about a boy and a girl, where the boy helps out the girl (A LOT). A club is an important part of the anime, but plays more of a role in Hyouka. Also, a similar atmosphere to both animes. Both have a great soundtrack.
Similar art styles. Akihito resembles Satoshi so much. Similar school setting. A bit of enforced mystery to keep you very interested through out the series.
If you liked Hyouka, you'll definitely like Kyoukai no Kanata. Both are made by the same company, so it has the same look to it. Kyoukai no Kanata is almost exactly like Hyouka, except for the fantasy/supernatural that you find in Kyoukai no Kanata. Also while in Hyouka it has a bit of comedy/romance to it, Kyoukai no Kanata follows on that genre bit more, as well as some action. Both are good watches.
Both Hyouka and Kyoukai no Kanata shares the most similar kind of art and characters If Kyoukai no Kanata's story are about fantasy, Hyouka tells us some more reality. They both also have great soundtrack. You can feel the same air between these animes when you watch it eventhough they have different kind of story. And I'm sure you will like them.
The animation is just the best as expected from KyoAni<3
Still hoping for new season from both anime huhu
And i bet you guys will fall in love with kuriyama-san and chitanda-san!!!
Fuyukai desu!
Watashi kininarimasu!
Bakemonogatari and Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) are series with supernatural themes involving the events of the main characters. The events behind both series are bizarre as the main male protagonist finds himself dealing with various supernatural creatures.
The main protagonist also seems to have immortality with gifted powers.
There's a sense of mystery going on as well regarding the origins of the characters.
-Both male MC's are half-supernatrual beings which makes them immortal
-Both have "fast-paced art style"
-Both are comedic at some points
-Both are dramatic at some points
-Both have a lot scenes fighting against supernatural beings
-both mc's have some normal fetishes
both show has the same genre, although bakemonogatari has more complex story plot, while KnK has simple, yet moe-esque story. both show have a superbly good art (as we expected from shaft and kyoani) and good op/ed too
Girl and boy with supernatural powers meet then fall in love.
The boy is kind of "dangerous".
Even the characters look similar, lively short girl with short hair and tall melancholic boy.
The same circumstantial event when girl with special ability finds boy with a different special ability and from there on boy's life was never the same again when he finds himself being drafted into service by the girl into fighting supernatural entities.
In/Spectre and Beyond the Boundary are two supernatural anime about a short-haired girl and a boy who both have supernatural abilities—the girl is personally associated with supernatural beings and the boy is seemingly immortal. The two eventually form a relationship due to their supernatural connections.
both are are romance, supernatural and involve youkai. they have very similar vibes so if you enjoyed kyoukai no kanata you’ll probably enjoy kyokou suiri.
-Both are very touching story with little bit of romance.
-Both story surely make you feel like wanna cry.
-Both has a very nice and touching song that surely make you fall for it.
-Both are about teamwork and friendship.
-Both story shows that everyone has their own past.
-Both story shows the sadness and the difficulty when departing with your friends or someone you treasure the most.
-Both has a peaceful ending and all the character continue to live their own normal usual life.
KnK revolves around a group of high school students, but the protagonists (a shy, innocent girl and a funny, compassionate guy) carry the plot with their mysterious past.
AnoHana also stars a friendly duo and their friends as its main cast. The drama in this show intensifies overtime since new feelings open up as conflicts revive after an entire decade has passed. If you are a fan of stories that cover the lives of lonely characters that change after a while, then you will like Kyoukai no Kanata.
Kuriyama's quirky and adorable personality covers a large part in the show, just like how Menma's selfless and slightly silly behavior had a strong effect on Anohana, but her character also acts similar to Jintan for they both take on a certain goal that must be fulfilled. read more
-Well both series are short and sweet and get to the point.
-Colorful cast of characters some flow with the tropes some don't, you probably know someone like one of the characters
-Anohana will bring you to tears, if you cried at the end of this prepare to feel it even harder here
-But much like this series it ends on a high note and puts a smile on your crying face.
Both AnoHana and Kyoukai no Kanata revolve around a group of school friends and, mainly, around a mysterious shy girl and her relationship to the male protagonist. Each contain some paranormal phenomena and a touching emotional plot.
-Both about fighting in order to survive or be safe.
-Both are very touching story with little bit of romance.
-Both story surely make you feel like wanna cry.
-Both has a very nice and touching song that surely make you fall for it.
-Both are about teamwork and friendship.
-Both story shows that everyone has their own past that has been kept secret all the way.
-Both story shows the sadness and the difficulty when departing with your friends or someone you treasure the most.
-Both of the main character did met up in the end of the story.
-Both has a peaceful ending and all the character continue to live their own normal usual life. read more
While they might not seem like it at first, there are a few things that are similar between the two.
1. One of the main characters has a hard time knowing whether to join up with the group at the start.
2. One of the other main characters (the other gender from the character described in number 1) is an anti-hero of sorts, but moreso in KnK.
3. Both are quite heart-wrenching by the end of the anime.
4. They will both leave some questions lingering in your mind at the end.
5. They both have an amazingly hilarious filler episode (Angel Beats isn't part of the main series though). You should not skip over them.
6. At a later point in the anime, the protaginists fight of a massive horde of monsters which split apart the main group.
Trust me, both are good animes. read more
Beyond the Boundary and Angel Beats are two somewhat divisively received anime that is both action-packed and follows the daily life of various characters, all while having a somewhat supernatural setting. The male lead in both anime cannot die and finds himself interacting with the girl who gave him a painful impression upon their first meeting. With a couple of laughs mixed in emotional and active scenes, people who liked one of these anime will likely try out (and maybe like) the other.
Supernatural action series with the same concept: a bunch of chosen ones - Jujutsu sorcerers/Spirit World warriors are fighting against different Curses/Youmu - most of them are just brainless monsters, but some can communicate and even imitate a human form. The most principal difference between these two shows is that Beyond the Boundary is a SoL moe romance while JJK is a classic battle shounen.
although kyoukai no kanata involves romance between the mcs, i feel like it is similar to jjk in regards to the whole slaying creatures thing. they both have comedy as well. i think if you enjoy jjk, you'll like kyoukai no kanata too. (if you dont mind the romance but i feel like they do it really tastefully)
Both have people who fight off evil sprits that only they can see.
One show being called Spirit Warriors and the other being called Jujutsu Sorcerers.
MC's are similar in the sense that they both have a somewhat evil spirit trapped inside of them as well.
Jujutsu Kaisen employs the same type of system: curses. Also, the MCs are similar; both of them have a special entity enclosed within them. Both of them occasionally use humor and are hilarious. They also have exceptional fights and animations.
Both have a very similar genre/setting. In Yozakura Quartet you have youkai (kind of supernatural beings that are usually in a human form) and in Kyoukai no Kanata you have youmu (pretty much the same thing accept they attack people and most don't have a human form) and both series are supernatural action. However, YQ is more about coexisting with the youkai while KnK is more about exterminating them. Both also have half-versions of the monsters in their worlds. However, YQ does have a bit more fan service and over the top action while KnK has some romance and moe.
Both talks about yokai creatures in the human world and they fight the evil creatures with there friend it has the same style with the drama and the comedy
These shows have fairly strong female main characters with supernatural powers. While shows are in general well animated they also have some extremely good animation, especially when it comes to action.
Both animes feature supernatural, school girls who use their blood to fight demon-like enemies as their main characters. Both are action oriented with a slight hint at romance. Blood+ has a more serious tone about it, whereas Kyoukai no Kanata has a lot more jokes. If you want something a little longer and little more serious, check out Blood+. If you want something quick and fun, watch Kyoukai no Kanata.
The main female protagonist of both series both series uses blood to enhance the abilities of their sword, though Saaya(the female protagonist of Blood +) uses an actual Katana.
Both have to deal with killing supernatural monsters.
The main male protagonist of both series are somewhat immortal.
The action of both series are somewhat similar.
Both series have demon hunting, a half-demon main character, and a Japanese highschool setting. There are also many almost identical character archetypes. Both series have a theme of not all demons being evil, while having gratuitous amounts of combat between the characters and demons. Action/animation quality and the general "feel" are comparable.
It should be noted that Ao no Exorcist is more focused on the main character and his training, while Kyokai no Kanata splits the focus between the two main characters and their romance.
In Kyoukai no Kanata there are spirit hunters and spirits and in Ao no Exorcist there are similarly exorcists and demons. So they're very simiral when it comes to the exorcisms /battles. Kyoukai no Kanata's kind of humour is also found in Ao no Exorcist, but in bigger doses, and they both contain the ''many characters all coming together to defeat their enemy and the relationships they have are also presented'' element. If you enjoyed the plot and character development of Kyoukai no Kanata you'll definitely adore Ao no Exorcist!
as i saw only 1 rec for these 2 shows i guess you actually may like both.
Fighting girl with sword, some spirit powers. Mix of comedy romance.
even though shana maybe have more DEEP world building :p
They feature very likable female leads with special powers who drag the male protagonist into situations. Both male protagonists also have powers and are not really human. They have similar feelings to them with similar mixes of comedy and drama.
Both series share a few similar concepts that I'm surprised there aren't anymore recommendations made between the two, though I'm not saying you'd like one show given you like the other since they vary in tones.
Both worlds are inhabited by entities unseen by normal people whose very lives are threatened by their presence. They are maintained by specialists that hunt these entities for the safety and stability of the world. The hunters have their means of combating without interfering with everyday normal life.
Both female leads have this role of being a hunter, whilst the male leads portrays the partner whose existential presence at first, goes against the female's ideals. This quickly changes with character progression, where the couples help each other throughout the series.  read more
Charlotte and Beyond the Boundary are both anime with a male protagonist who has some kind of supernatural ability meeting a somewhat stern girl who socially isolates herself and has an ability of her own. In fact, nearly the whole cast of characters have supernatural abilities and the few supporting characters that both shows spend a lot of time on are students from the protagonist's school. Both anime also have a somewhat episodic structure up until some serious drama comes up and some slow hints of romance.
The set up between Beyond the Boundary and Charlotte is the same. A bunch of kids with special abilities form a club. They then differ in their purpose. Beyond the Boundary has them fighting demons around town while Charlotte has the kids tasked with going after others with powers that are misusing them.
Kyoukai no Kanata has a much lighter feel compared to Tokyo Ghoul's dark and gothic vibe, however they have very similar qualities
- both MC are half breeds
- both struggle to control their non-human half
If you're looking for something with the same premise as Tokyo Ghoul but lacking the darkness of it, try Kyoukai no Kanata - same ideas just a lighter, easy/breezy vibe to it.
Similarities:
Both anime contain a main character who is half human and half monster. (Half-Youmu in KnK and Half-Ghoul in Tokyo Ghoul).
Both anime and dark fantasies type anime with elements of supernatural and horror.
The OP and ED's of both anime are stunning, and some of the best I've heard, KnK taking a more J-Pop/Rock route and Tokyo Ghoul a J-Rock/Metal style, either way great soundtracks in both.
Differences:
In Kyoukai no Kanata, the MC has a love interest, meanwhile in Tokyo Ghoul, the MC does not.
Kyoukai no Kanata is much more fantasy based, while Tokyo Ghoul is more focused on suspense and horror. This gives Tokyo Ghoul a much darker and gory feel to it.
KnK is animated much more fluidly than Tokyo Ghoul since KnK was animated by the stunning KyoAni, but that's not to say the art is bad in Tokyo Ghoul, it's just slightly more average looking.
Either way, I'd give Tokyo Ghoul a shot if you have some time on your hands, it's airing this season (Summer 2014) and likewise to watch Kyoukai no Kanata if you can. Both are good anime.

The demon-y aspect and supernatural feel to it are very similar. Multiple characters as well seem like they will add to a very Yozakura feel (especially that one dude with the scarf lol).
A modern day world, where monsters live among people. A group of friends and family members with various super powers. They make an organization, that takes care of the dangerous cases, eliminating the creatures. We also get a glimpse of their normal daily lives. One of their friends is also a monster and unintentionally poses a threat to society, so they must decide, whether to kill him as well.
Both anime have similar story telling. They start as comedy, and slowly, episode by episode, more and more drama comes in. Also, the art style is quite alike. Both shows include supernatural elements as well as a certain amount of romance, and the main characters are school students. Kyoukai no Kanata has more action, but both shows are really worth watching.
These two anime are similar in the aspect of supernatural, spirituality, and the growth of the characters due to those things.
They both have a boy that meets a girl with supernatural powers and each affects one another somehow.
Similarities:
- Female lead
- Supernatural powers
- Supernatural beings
- Mystery
- and more subtle similarities
Differences:
- Pacing (!)
- Style
- KnK: Fantasy oriented
- RDG: More traditional themes
Both great immersive stories
Both highly recommended
They both have a MC who does not like conflict and would rather then anything spend his days in a calm manner.
This however is usually not the case as both of them have an insane power hidden inside them which when going berserk is strong enough to whip out anything and everything they hold dear.
If you like Story's where the MC is bound by a power he can't control and the tragedy that cause him you will definitely like this.
Both have a male main character that is part "demon" and has insane power where if he goes out of control he will destroy everything including his loved ones. Both the main characters also wish for a peaceful life where they won't hurt anyone. Both have a female love interest that is also very strong and both use a sword as their main weapon.
If you are looking for another internal struggle within the part-demon main character than definitely check out Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu. Both have their funny moments, interesting and lovable characters, and interesting turn of events.
Both have spiritual ability to fight off youkai/youma and fight with some level of a sword.
Also both belong to some tribe/group that trains and has spiritual power.
- Both deal with two individuals somehow intertwined by fate.
- Both deal with a form of demon-hunting.
Be warned, Ga-Rei: Zero is way darker than Kyoukai no Kanata.
Both series are similar with a male and female protagonist involved with the supernatural which leads to many action scenes. The female leads are quite similar as they are always with their "sempai" (male protagonist), and believing they are perverts.
the main character has a special connection with the heroine since both of them is the kouhai of the protagonist.
both of the protagonist has some special power more than the heroine
both of the protagonist considered danger by the surrounding because of their power
Altho its much shorter anime Kyoukai no Kanata has the upper hand in superb animation style and much less eerie atmosphere than Kekkaishi it is also much more moe and comedy focused show but also has that contrast of dark events happening compared to Kekkaishi both MC's are badass in their own way and have somebody who they really care for or somebody who really cares for them! And both anime are about Otherworldly beings, Youkai and Supernatural abilities!
Both main females are sweet girls with pink hair and tragic pasts who carry deadly power if used unwisely.
Both main couples have similar personalities and looks.
Both have intricate plots about a group of youth with special abilities trying to change fate.
Kyoukai no Janata is similar to rewrite as both the main male protagonist have the same nature Akihito Kanbara and kotorou tennouji have free nature but still they have some super power which they try to hide not only that they both have blond hair color .(:
The overall feel in both anime. The underlying love between both characters and the moments where you cry. I finished watching KnK and immediately thought of Guilty Crown. Both anime are amazing. I dont want to say too much because i find that not knowing before leaves a more genuine response when watching. If you enjoyed KnK you'll enjoy Guilty Crown.
Both have the same powerful but useless MC and a powerful girl dealing with troubles while getting closer
Both have someone who cares for their sibling a little too much
Both series are quite similar because the main character is involved in eliminating dark spirits from the world. And both series are quite comedic except that isuca has some fan-service. Besides, both main characters have a boy assistant that kinda love each other.
Both shows are similar in that they have a lot of tension, mixed with occasional humor and romance; however, Steins;Gate is more focused on the science fiction aspect while Kyoukai no Kanata is more focused on the fantasy aspect. They both have more complex plots that unfold as the series goes on.
If you're familiar with both, you'd see that these two are notably similar. Concepts rooted in Eastern spiritualism, otherworld/doing something with that otherworld, powers, youkais, etc etc. Cool visuals is a common feature too.
However, KnK is the much inferior version.
The couple of protagonists fight together, and deal with situations that demand the maximum from each one. Throughout history, the romance between them develops.
- Both have a very similar style in animation and art
- Both very sad
- Both have to do with killing monsters made from people's emotions
- Both psychological in some way
- Both have a sort of creepy feel to them
Both show the main characters struggling to find their place among society.
Each has their own sub theme of romance, though each show explores that field in their own manner.
Both shows are heavy on use of symbolism and both carry themes regarding aspects of society.
Though Koukai no Kanata has a darker situation than Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, their central ideas remain very similar.
They both have at times boring slice of life aspects, some action, cute girls and a bit of romance.
They give off a very similar feeling, they both have main characters that feel lonely and change for better when getting to know their love interest.
If you liked the other I don't see why you wouldn't like the other one aswell.
Both have an adorable main character who is driven by some sort of regret. Both have awesome art styles and music. Although, depending on the viewer, the romance element is quite different.

If you are looking for an anime which revolves around evil spirits and a group fighting to keep the peace, with the addition of funny romance scenes with tsundere characters, this is it.
Both are made by KyoAni, so they have similar art. They are both sort of supernatural slice of life stories. Technically, they both include a literature club. Akihito's glasses fetish reminded me of Kyon's ponytail fetish).
They are similar because they focus on a girl with powers. Also they have almost the same development and also that they share similar conclusions.
Both are great series if you want to watch something.
Both have the following major plot elements : cursed power, good fighting scenes, little sister character, big sister character, powerful family and organisation. Both depict the struggles the main characters are going through when the world around them changes and their fight against their past and their family history.
However while Kure-nai is focused more on martial arts and the problems of a powerful family that wants to keep its traditions, Kyoukai no Kanata is more spiritual and about yokai and exorcism.
The main female Nagato and Mirai act similar in a way. They are both in a literature club. In Kanata it has supernatural powers and romance. While in Nagato only slice of life and romance. Originally Haruhi series was done by KyoAni. Who also did Kyoukai no Kanata. But now its a new Studio.
Kyoukai no Kanata and Kyuuketsuhime Miyu both have female main characters that kill demons as spirit warriors, male companions that are at least half-demon and interested in the female leads. They are dark fantasies that have the main characters involved in a lot of action and introspection. The personalities of the main characters are very different, but if you like one of these, you should watch the other.
The main characters of both shows are strong glasses-wearing girls whose trauma for having killed someone in the past, but have to fight. Both shows genres are action and fantasy, and they both have funny, action, and sad moments in the end.
If you like Sinon you'll like Mirai.
- High School setting
- Mononoke/yokai/spirits
- Teenage cast
- Colourful
- Playful dialogue
Kyoukai no Kanata is more about the story about the people surrounded by youkai which needs exorcising, whereas Mononokean is more about the youkai's story and the people who deal with them.
-They revolve around supernatural beings trying to make their way in the real world. One a heroic character who has qualities that make them seem non-heroic (Mirai and Emilia) and a demonic character who tries his best to make himself seem less like a villain.
-KnK and Hataraku find ways to make the action scenes hilarious in ways, although Hataraku Maou-sama manages to do it a lot more.
-Most of the times KnK and Hataraku are drawn with bright and cheery animation, but when the action scenes come they generally both turn to a must darker tone.
Both anime have a beautiful art style and color variety
Both anime have unique and colorful characters
Both anime have amazing battles
Both anime have cat who turns into a cat
Both anime have great soundtrack
Both anime have a lot of similarities between characters
I have watched 2 series and I love both of them and they are alike in many so things
Having seen both Natsume Yuujinchou and Kyoukai no Kanata, it's easy to spot the similarities. In fact, it's very easy to see the two animes taking place in the same world/setting. Both animes have spirits, first off. The youmu and the youkai are practically identical beings. In both animes neither the youmu or youkai are visible to normal people, which is a huge similarity. Then, the Spirit World Warriors in KnK are very similar to the various exorcist groups in Natsume Yuujinchou (think Matoba clan). It's all the same stuff. Curses, fighting, friendships, all that. The only glaring difference is that Natsume Yuujinchou goes at a slower pace, with less action. You most likely won't find yourself crying at Kyoukai no Kanata, while Natsume Yuujinchou sets most off on every single episode. Sure KnK is less feelsy, but it has them.
Also, in both of these fantastic animes, you'll find yourself becoming attached to the mains, Natsume and Akihito. They're very similar in appearance, but also in personality. Neither of them fail to be persistently naïve. Ever. In fact, there are a lot of character similarities. The youmu appraisal woman in Kyoukai no Kanata is very much like Hinoe from Natume Yuujinchou, with that ever-calm personality. Both of them smoke, even! Then the second main in KnK is very much like Taki Tooru in Natsume Yuujinchou. Both are secluded, shy, nervous, and withdrawn from society. In fact, they even both have curses! Of course, both warm up to the mains.
All in all, for Natsume Yuujinchou lovers, Kyoukai no Kanata is a wonderful follow-up, and at 13 episodes is basically another season of the prior.  read more
Similarities:
Both are pretty dark, serious, and dramatic for an anime (plotwise) made by Kyoani, although Kyoukai has more violence and fighting
Both have male and female protagonists who are always suffering and struggling because of their past actions.
Differences:
Kyoukai no Kanata is more supernatural, while Koe no Katachi is more of a slice of life.
Both heroine was born with rare ability which makes it difficult for them to have a normal life.
Kotoura Haruka: "... but what i don't like the most is when the people I care about leave me!"
Kuriyama Mirai: "Somewhere along the line, I had decided that I can't interact with other people. That I have no choice but to be alone, but..."
Rather than get hurt they decided to be alone so they wont hurt the people they love. Both heroine found love and friends who accepted them. Both great stories of love and friendship which I'm envious of, so I love to recommend both of this series! read more
