Although Saki is about Mahjong rather than acting, the basic premise is the same. In Hitohira, the lead character has an exceptional skill which is voice projection as it relates to acting, while in Saki, the lead character has exceptional skill in Mahjong. both characters seem to hate their respective role in which their skills are utilized, but soon start to change their mind.

This anime really reminded me of clannad mainly because of a drama club. They are both emotional but Hitohira juggles more of the emotions around the club itself and its members. If you loved either of the series i'm sure you'll love the other one. But i tell you, Hitohira is definately a junior of clannad in my opinion

"If you tremble at each step, how do you wanna walk?" - This question deals with the main girls problems in both animes: Kimi ni Todoke and Hitohira share two big similitaries: First, the female main character is so adoring (her personality), you'd love to help her with all her problems. Second, both girls have got problems, either to find friends or too really be open and live life. Kimi ni Todoke, Sawako (Sadako) is just too shy to find friends, as well because she always was sort of "bullied" cause of her name and her "weird" charisma. In Hitohira, the girl is too shy to speak (in  read more

Hitohira and Hanayamata begin and go in a pretty similar way. A shy, complexed and un-special female protagonist being dragged into something interesting, and hilarity ensues with said protagonist seeing everything in an overly romantic way. This could leave an impression that Hanayamata, like Hitohira, is a show best suited for girls, with the only difference Hanayamata begins having joy and doing motion after first few episodes, and Hitohira retains more calm and composed.

The female mc is quitely similar. They're quiet and can't talk. But surprisingly, when they're talk, the voice is beautiful and sweet voice. The second similarity is they're performed school drama. Even though, on hitohira just drama.

Hitohira is almost exactly a prototype Hibike to the point that it's scary. MCs are similar in that they are fairly shy people who are coerced into a club activity (Wind music club for Hibike! and Drama club for Hitohira) and grow to appreciate their respective clubs and the things that come with it throughout the course of the series. Both are primarily highschool dramas and excel at character drama. The dynamics between the characters are similar especially between the MCs and their senpai.

Both anime feature quiet main characters, who have almost no self-confidence, learn to open up through friendship and theater. Fans of Hinako Note might enjoy a similar story with a more dramatic bent, which Hitohira provides.

Hitohira is about a girl that doesn't know anything about acting, Skip Beat has the same harem and also has the same storyline.

Both are high school series, and the main character join a club which it dosen't fit for her but after time she likes it.

Both series have a group of all likable people who, through trials and tribulations, come together in order to accomplish a number of causes. And we also get a nice dose of reality from both shows in the fact that change is a course of life and that things don’t always turn out right in the process. Of the two shows, Hitohira is more realistic and dramatic about the idea that life goes on, but it won’t always be happy. While Manabi with its feel good attitudes stays away from that angle, Hitohira tackles it full on.

Hitohira and Sketchbook are both slice-of-life series about a group of students in an artistic club. Each has a shy protagonist, although they expand to include significant screen time for other characters. Both series are perfect for fans of short, slow-paced, character-based series.

Fans of Asatte no Houkou's interpersonal drama might find much to like in Hitohira, and vice versa. The highlight of both shows are their strong characters and their growth over the series. Both could be said to be seinen anime who draw influence from shoujo sources, due to their character-driven plots. Also, Hitohira offers more lighthearted material than Asatte no Houkou does.

Both are lighthearted high school series with characters you instantly relate to and cheer for. While School Rumble focuses more on character interaction and comedy, Hitohira concentrates on character development and drama.

A person joins a club which he/she is not really fit for, but the warm atmosphere makes things go for the better.

Both about girls who want to act.

Both series follow young girls in their struggle to find their voices (for very different reasons, mind you!), as well as encounters along the way that help them along that path. Shion no Ou is much darker in nature, while Hitohira is more of your classic school drama. Both series are also rather underrated, in my opinion.
