Synopsis

Long ago, all humans lived beneath the sea. However, some people preferred the surface and abandoned living underwater permanently. As a consequence, they were stripped of their god-given protection called "Ena" which allowed them to breathe underwater. Over time, the rift between the denizens of the sea and of the surface widened, although contact between the two peoples still existed.

Nagi no Asu kara follows the story of Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido, along with their childhood friends Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki, who are forced to leave the sea and attend a school on the surface. There, the group also meets Tsumugu Kihara, a fellow student and fisherman who loves the sea.

Hikari and his friends' lives are bound to change as they have to deal with the deep-seated hatred and discrimination between the people of sea and of the surface, the storms in their personal lives, as well as an impending tempest which may spell doom for all who dwell on the surface.

A Lull In The Sea stayed consistent throughout all it's episodes. The characters were all interesting, or at least had value, and the story had strong themes that made it into a great anime. This anime is about change, and how it effects others at certain times. Some people don't like change, but no matter what they do, they have to accept it. That's kind of the memo of this anime, where all the characters have some sort of change happen to them in the series. The love "triangle", even though its more than that, was decent. But, one thing I found a little sus ...

Mixed Feelings
It was one of the most frustrating shows to watch. It has the typical trope of "will they? won't they?" and honestly, the only reason I finished this series is to see where all the character relationships will eventually lead.
I recommend this show to people who enjoy the tsun-deres/dere-deres and love triangles. This show has a cartwheel of relationships and I do not recommend this show to people who cannot stand age-gap romances. There are few questionable infatuations and relationships that I found uncomfortable to watch.
On the bright side, some of characters were well-written and towards the second part of the series, there ...

Nagi no Asu kara for the first 12 or something episodes is like oppenheimer watching the A bomb at the trinity site. Its Fun, Cool, Intresting. But than comes Little boy and Fat man. Holy shit does this anime fucking jump 10 sharks. Im not going to get into spoilers but I felt tramatized after watching it. It was so horrendousily bad at the end. Its just devolves into degeneracy it pulls a SAO where part 1 was really good and than the other half of the anime was so gross and weird. Except Nagi no Asu kara brings in fucking time skips, Kids and ...

The Art of Time Skips: When, How and Why

With flashbacks, plot twists and foreshadowing often being the most analyzed narrative elements in anime, time skips get ignored quite often. However, they offer just as much potential, for better or for worse.
