Interest Stacks![]() ![]() Series that utilize philosophical approach when it comes to their portrayal of society. Usually featuring "outsider" perspective as a main vehicle for the exploration of the "society" and the philosophy. ![]() ![]() Only series that are ranked below 2,000 in 'Popularity' on MAL. ![]() ![]() Series that emphasise the presentation of struggle and dramatic event(s) through culminating the portrayal of the experience to that point visually or by some other means. ![]() ![]() Releases which draw in meaningful ways from the named esoteric Hellenic spiritual tradition in their symbolism, themes, or both (Alchemy, Kabbalah, etc.). Most elements from the practice are fairly perennial in their implementation, and this is something up to interpretation, so I've tried to be strict without relying on explicit references. ![]() ![]() A subgenre of science fiction that focuses on biotechnology. Includes anime with biotechnology even if it isn't a primary theme. ![]() ![]() While the exact definition is vague, "Sekai-Kei" media shares similar themes in reshaping/remaking/changing the world, typically as a result of things on a personal scale such as a relationship or impactful event. This could be literally, but also can be one's perception of the world. There are usually elements that make it not grounded in reality with vaguely explained mystic/religious/magic/fantasy/spiritual elements as opposed to science. Apocalyptic fiction is a common stage setting for sekai-kei, but it is not a condition. ![]() ![]() Original TV anime from 1996 to 2002, I characterize this era as 'post-eva' as a good number of these series contain aspects that resemble Evangelion, some were even inspired by it. ![]() ![]() Neon Genesis Evangelion is widely considered one of the most influential anime ever made, and a multitude of series were created to follow the leader, copying from its premise, characters, aesthetics, themes, and any combination of the previous. Here's some anime that can be considered to be EVA clones. Note: Some series that, in contrast, inspired EVA are included at the end. ![]() ![]() Anime Unleashed was an anime block that was broadcast on the American cable TV network G4. Anime Current is its Canadian counterpart. The block is notable for having a unique catalog of sci-fi anime including popular titles such as Serial Experiments Lain and rather obscure titles such as Betterman. In my opinion, this is one of the strangest but also coolest block of anime to air on American TVs. ![]() ![]() Series that been represented in Super Robot Wars in the Decade the Series Debuted In. |
