It's hard not to see Guilty Crown as something of a Code Geass rip-off when they're similar to the extent the main character receives "the power of the king" from a mysterious female, before involving himself in a Japanese rebellion against foreigners discriminating against the Japanese. There are even robots on roller-skates in it! So far, what keeps the two as separate entities is the respective leads. In Code Geass Lelouch starts the rebellion himself and is driven by both hatred and the desire to protect his disabled little sister. In Guilty Crown the lead is (mod edit) a bit emotionally unstable and gets himself pulled  read more

If you take a serious look at both of them, you might discover that they are really alike. I first watched Mirai Nikki (when it was released) and two days ago I have also watched Guilty Crown; my first impression was: this is very similar to Mirai Nikki. They are both Thriller /Action /Superpower animes with the necessary drop of romance, drama and fine graphics. They are similar in graphics, in action and interest. Also, the characters are at some point alike (if we are talking about the main characters : Shuu is similar to Yuki quite a lot, even though Inori is not completely alike  read more

A teenage boy meets a cute apathetic girl in which they are connected by a red string of fate to these unique girls. The closer these individuals become the more we see how deep of a connection they share. Both series have a mecha theme when on the battlefield

Cardboard cutout characters in a baffling clusterf@#* of events (you just can't call it a cohesive story) try to entertain you for at least a season too long. While occasionally visually stunning, both titles try to entangle you with forced drama, random action and CGI eye candy before you start to realize: It's just a waste of time!

An infectious disease has spread. Causing people to die/turn into monsters. Only the main character and his companions have a way of dealing with it. They must find a way to cure it. Both series has great OST and visuals. One series is mecha while other is not. Kaji Yuuki does the voice of the main protagonist.

in Neon and Guilty Crown the robot and user are really connected, as in when the robot get damage, the user will feel the pain, but in Neon the user will receive the damage that robot has. it's really bloody too

Similarities: -young male 'hero' -supernatural/ability elements -high school setting While they may not seem super similar in terms of plot, Guilty Crown features a male protagonist that winds up with an ability he does not know the full extent of, just as in Charlotte. Both use these abilities to save many people. In Charlotte, abilities are the norm while in Guilty Crown, 'voids' (manifestations of one's soul/heart) is the norm. The main characters both use others' abilities/voids to their advantage to help others. Both take place in a high school setting. If you loved the supernatural elements, thrill and hero protagonist in Charlotte, you'll love Guilty Crown!

Music is very similar with the techno, rock and symphony parts. The settings also pit a superior enemy against the underdog main characters set in the future with mechs. Both series feature cute girl protagonists, mech battles and awesome action & animation, with moving techno-symphony music and chorus.

Highly familar elements feature in both these series's, you'd think it was delibrate... Both start with a pretty, mystery girl singing, an 'average schoolboy' who's life is about to change as he plays hero in a superpower world he's not too clued up on, the girl seems familar, the military element is displayed pretty much right away.

Guilty Crown is more like R2 than Code Geass 1st season. The main character is thrust into a politically unstable Japan where he himself vows to change the nation his own way by his own methods (which are needless to say at times cruel). He has a power only he can use and uses it to further his own ambitions. (Geass with Lelouch and Void extraction with Shu) He is also leader of an anti-government faction. He also has a quiet female that supports him on the side. (Pizza girl in Geass and Inori in Guilty Crown) I do not want to  read more

Both involve a deadly virus that seems to be used by the government in both series to rule undemocratically. They both feature government corruption, rebel groups and take place in a futuristic setting. Yuki Kaji voices both Shion (No.6) and Shu (Guilty Crown). Both aired on noitaminA, and both have many flaws which have lead to both being called the worst of noitaminA.

Well...if you like one, then you'd like the other. Both animes gave the same feeling. Storywise, C is better; but if it's some wicked music you want, then Guilty Crown. Art style is sort of similar, even the main characters look alike. Boy leading his normal life unwillingly gets sucked into something...BIG but he still goes through with it because it could save his country.

Both MCs feels that they need to do what needs to be done on their own by there own way. Even though they some what dislike the choices they've made they know that the can persevere over whatever trails they face. They both work hard and are willing to scarify themselves to benefit others.

1. These two anime's are set in the future. 2. There is something wrong in the government. 3. A lot of action. 4. Awesome characters in both. 5. Dark themed.

Both series have supernatural abilities with humans who have, and humans who don't have those powers. Both characters get their powers due to an accident and learn to live with them during the anime. Both series also have a supporting female character. In guilty crown and in tokyo ghoul the mc fights against a big orginization to stay alive. Although being a bit of a crybaby at first, both mc's turn out to be pretty badass.

While TTGL is much more focused on the actual mecha aspects whereas in Guilty Crown it's just a periphery element, the storytelling has some some similarities. Both main characters, Simon and Shu, go through a crazy amount of hardships and losses especially with those close to them. They each have a role model that they look up to and want to eventually become, and both characters go through a significant amount of character development, changing from weak-willed little boys to mature and respectable adults. There's many similarities too in terms of character relationships and plot events, but giving away any of that would lead to  read more

The reason why I think both serie are very similare is because how the character/plot developed during it's run time. In a way I can stay they're pretty much the same thing just with different characters. Also the MC in both serie starts off as a weak character but later on receive some sort of super power that allows them to save the day, also the female character are also very similar in both show. On top of that there're Mecha in both show as well.

A boy with a sad past, meets a girl who is a member of a rebel group, whose members seek the restoration of the actual corrupted and evil society/government. The boy joins the rebellion, starting a revolution against powerful villains. Akame ga Kill!'s "imperial arms" are like Guilty Crown's "voids".

Similar to Guilty Crown in soundtrack but its complexity in mechanics and storyline actually work and flow. I won't spoil anything but this anime get's deceptively better. Despite a few aggravating scenes this anime pulls such a difficult concept and set of characters together quite beautifully. Most memorable action anime in a while.

A boy meets a special girl and finds himself dragged into a world of danger that he previously didn't know existed. Both boys, Touma and Shu, find themselves fighting against an enemy to protect something. Great art, great characters, great music. Both worlds have a similar feel that draws you in. As they say: "when science and magic meet... They will beat the crap out of you." Although I'm not sure if there's magic in Guilty Crown yet.

Guilty Crown revolves around a male lead trying to save the world in which they live. Both shows take place in a Dystopian society except that Guilty Crown is a little more futuristic. In Guilty Crown, humanity suffers from a crystallized version of cancer where in Seraph, they fall to a virus that kills all adults. The MC in Guilty Crown is an innocent student dragged into the plot while in Seraph its basically the same thing, except he is an orphan. Both anime have the same composer as well (Hiroyuki Sawano) so the soundtracks sound very very similar.

Both pieces display some plot similarities, like for instance the typical "the world is in danger" due to a virus that kills people by transforming them in crystal/metal and the hero with a mysterious deceased sister that was also connected to the other hero. Both animes have great soundtrack and character designs. I must say I enjoyed Znt much more than GC. In my opinion, ZnT is GC done right: that is, even if they share plot similarities, the stories differ completely, the direction of Znt was well executed, not containing any of the flaws, plot holes and fanservice of the former. Both anime have a great animation with a promising plot that gets flushed down the drain. Both series face an extinction caused by a virus, in Kabaneri case virus turns people to zombie. Both series have a bishoujo character gone bad, strong relationship/friendship between two leads. Female being a cause of MCs stronger powers and etc. Differences, different time era. Kabaneri is more bloody. Guilty Crown develops its plot more. If you managed to see redeeming qualities in one, you might in another. Otherwise watch it purely for animation and sound. More of a story and character person? Don't bother with either then.

Both series contain sci-fi themes mixed in with action and drama. Additionally, both series have a darker mood as the episodes progresses. There is also a bit of mystery in both series covered up malevolence. In addition, the main character are accompanied by a girl with supernatural powers and with a similar stoic personality in which the protagonist tries to save.

Two modern mecha classics which, aided by Sawano's subdued brand of music, forever imprinted themselves into the minds of their viewers. These two definitively proved that all-star writer / director staff lists, when paired with original robot anime, leads to greatness. Never will what they contributed to anime be forgotten. Ever. Code Geass was heavily influential for both shows. More so in the case of Guilty Crown since it was created by the same people and had the same basic plot/everything, along with robots on roller-skates. "If you were to write a story with me as the main character, it would certainly be a..tragedy.." Wel that is what they have in common with each other in my opinion. Later they meet the female character who gives them a special power capable of transcending beyond to the point that the MCs will never go back to their normal lives. Battle for the fate of the world in an apocalyptic state is the theme in both shows in a dark and tragic way but the main difference is the setting (Guilty Crown-Sci Fi and X-Modern) as well as the story and action. Plot twists, decision making, choices, dialogue, and pacing all comes down to play. The best friend-brother-sister triangle is a lot similar. On the other hand, you will see a lot of similarities such as friends turning against enemies, betrayal, deaths on both sides, school scenes, war, and the final decision that will determine everything.

Strong main heroine. Similar apocalyptic world. Just some characters can really fight against the enemy. Nice love story but not the most important part of it. Good soundtrack. They can make you feel that feeling of despair that you should have when the world is hopeless and everything is lost, but to never give up because there is always a reason to fight.

Before and after Code Geass, these anime shows were the highlight of their popularity written by those involved with Code Geass (Goro Taniguchi-Scryed and Ichiro Okuichi-Guilty Crown). Supernatural powers are the focus of the story regarding a phenomenon that devastated the world (Great Uprising and Lost Christmas) and at the same time a group of freedom fighters sought to achieve independence from an oppressive regime (HOLY and GHQ). As the story unfolds, later do things become more complex and twisted that the crusade shows it's true colors.............

Just happen to be continuing the ideas guilty crown ripped off of other series' recommendations. Mostly people confer to Code Geass when they say Guilty Crown, but Utena serves as a much better example due to their similar motifs and usage of swift action scenes. In both series, a main character, who's either a male or a female with strong animus egotism, likes to pull swords out of other people's chests, because, why? It's fun, probably. Watch both series to find out their separate, individual purposes, but effectively, the swords/ weaponry which pops out of the people's chests happen to give the 'protagonist' power to kill  read more

Both series contain supernatural themes mixed in with action, drama, and sci-fi elements. Both series contains a main protagonist who discovers a mysterious dormant power that lies within him. Both series also contain a dark theme with melancholy.

Let's just say that both involves guys who's is living a boring school life and all of the sudden got themselves into something which spells "TROUBLE" and the best part for them is.......they're enjoying it.

They both have that annoying factor where I/we/you have no idea what's "really" going on. They both have that "bad guy" in the background that pops up, yet doesn't really play a part in the anime, until he does... They both have a romance that's doomed form the start (TC-she has no memories, GC-she "likes" Gai). They both have mecha-themed items (TC-some of the worlds they visit) They both are on a team that you're not quite sure is the good side, but they might be... (TC-Fai is not who we think he is, GC-the group Shu is in, is not on the "right" side of  read more

The world has a dark secret in both of these Anime that revolve around people having powers and abilities which make them stand out from the rest of society and be ostrosized.

Both of these Anime take place in the future and deal with sci-fi and mecha. The animation style is a mix of vibrant brights and gothic darks. Both Anime also have a dark storyline to draw the viewer in.

both have bloody scene, very both have girl with pink hair both are romantic in a way, guilty crown has more romance in my opinion

Same accentuation on "boy meets girl with tragic consequences", same sublimely bitter aftertaste.

Male main characters intended to be the "king", leading the good forces. Both Shu and Tori caused the death of a important girl in their past (Mana in Guilty Crown; Horizon for Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon). Also Inori from Guilty Crown strongly resembles Mana, while "P-01s" from Horizon strongly resembles Horizon Ariadust. The two anime have events and scenes that aren't always fully understandable, with odd things. Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon is more funny, while Guilty Crown is more mature and serious.

Mild shounen spins on the 'magic girl' type. The leads in both are male characters who are pretty much average, using the abilities of the 'magic gilrs' sidekicks in order to save the day as they face off against threats that don't need to concern them personally - trouble seems to follow the famales.

Second part of Guilty crown is a dead ringer to Mugen no Ryvius: bunch of students left to 'figure things out'. Political power struggles, betrayals, oppression ... all happening under the menace of a external threat

Guilty crown is took out some elements from macross frontier. They both contain songstresses whose songs are relevant to the plot. Both have action and decent plot development for a mecha anime, and are recommended to watch.

Both focus on the idea of weapons hidden within human body, which are closely connected with people's souls; both feature teenage protagonist who is forced to use those weapons in order to fight for his family's and friends (as well as the world's, of course) sake; action in both takes place in the future, a bit more distant in GC. There are also some obvious similarities between the two girls who are the keys to enigma, pasts of the protagonists and their families, background events fundamental for the shows and the general messages behind them, however GC is more action-packed and futuristic, while "Persona" is  read more

I'm only on episode 5 of Guilty Crown, but so far this is what i can tell from it: Both main characters join a "criminal group" but both criminal groups turn out to be good. Both criminal groups adore their leader. Both main characters were tested and accepted into the group.

main girl is calm and reserved but serves as a catalyst for the MC's power. Both are mecha anime where the MC lacks confidence but with the help of the "girl" they both somehow become uber powerful.

A boy protecting the girl The girl is used as a dangerous and destructive weapon The girl is in love with the boy Same theme of war Differences: Guilty crown is more action filled and music is better! A definite must-see!

Guilty crown is similar to coopelion in a few ways.. -Both animes have a sort of disease/epidemic -People have special powers.

Both main characters have a good set of mind but begins to lose their dignity. Near the end, both characters realize what they've done and return to their way of thinking with maturity.

Both are set in the future, with a outside force going against the MC and his organization. In Guilty Crown its Funeral Parlor and God Eater it is well... the god eaters. Both MCs have generic hairstyles and wield a big-ass sword obviously compensating for something.

In my opinion they are both great animes. Gilgamesh is older but the story and art are well done and it keeps the viewers attention through-out the whole series. Guilty crown has amazing art and animation and share the intense story plot with Gilgamesh. I would recommend you watch both series.

Both "A boy meets girl" animes. Male lead character development is similar. Whiny boy at the beginning becomes a hero(he-he) at the end, willing to save his girl and the world at the cost of his own life. Both have some ecchi episodes, though in Guilty Crown characters are more grown-up. Both male leads also have done some dark deeds to archive their goals. Guilty Crown is better in the part of soundtrack and also has less fillers. Both great animes really which leave with lots to think of.

Similar: - superpowers - both have style. sound and animation are good. - neither make much sense, but make up for it by being flashy and epic. - a lot of characters have ambiguous morals Dissimilar: - context is very different. there is no real similarity in the story or setting. - while main reason for making this recommendation is style, it is a matter of impact, not direct similarity. they look quite different.

The style of the characters is really similar, which I love. However, that's about where the similarities end...

Groups fighting for freedom (Japan and Colonies) against tyrannical factions (GHQ and United Earth Sphere Alliance). Guilty Crown is similar to Code Geass whose story is based on Gundam Wing but with a more Evangelion approach meaning more supernatural powers are involved than just aristocrats and mechas.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
Groups (Undertakers and Celestial Being) fight tyrannical organizations (GHQ and A-Laws) to save the world from oppression. Supernatural powers are involved (Void and Innovator powers) as well as mechas. A lot of drama, suspense, and twists involved.

Both show's setting (Japan and Tokyo) are in ruins at a post apocalyptic state especially finding a way to cure the disturbance that affected it. Both have dark tone, twists, powers, revelations, interactions, and romance.

If you like Gundam 00 even Code Geass, try Guilty Crown as well even if you're also big in to Sci Fi and Mechas as well. Other than just mechas, supernatural powers are also involved including drama, interactions, romance, twists, and revelations that will shock the whole story to another level which you'll never forget for your entire life.

Gai Tsutsugami and Rey Za Burrel are similar and the main protagonist Ouma Shu is similar to Kira Yamato and the same goes for a pink haired singing girl (Inori and Lacus) . Story involves groups fighting corruption and at some point, revelations, corruption drama, and tragedy involve.
