Both start with an interesting premise and have great visuals. But imo, both of them fall flat with unmemorable characters and a plot that doesn't seem to understand the rules of story progression that well.

Conflict on how the society functions. Both main characters using the special powers they received to help/fix the problem in order for a better future. Both MCs feels that they need to do what needs to be done on their own by there own way. Even though they some what dislike the choices they've made they know that the can persevere over whatever trails they face. They both work hard and are willing to scarify themselves to benefit others.

The protagonists live a boring school life but are dragged into an unknown world with their lives at stake. Shu (Guilty Crown) is somewhat of an emo and a coward who obtains the power of the King unknowingly, while Kirito (Sword Art Online) chooses to become stronger through vigorous training to survive and clear the twisted virtual world he was thrust into. They both have a female partner and other companions that help them achieve their goals. Since both are produced by the same company, I also expect Sword Art Online to display stunning visuals and music much like its past predecessors.

Morale, survival, and timing are the three central plot in the series. Though not really similar, it is know to have it's high fantasy, great animation and art, unique music, and action scenes. The story takes place in the near future where the characters in here are somewhat in a dangerous environmental atmosphere where they fight for their survival until they meet their goal. Both are know to be "Overhyped" series, but visuals and music are great.

The difference is that SAO is basically trapped in the game and focuses more on romance. Guilty Crown is much more of advance sci-fi setting, using Mecha and Void battles, and takes place on the outside world.

Both are Romantic Dramas with lots of action. Each have a haremy feeling and a big twist on a character. Both MCs start out as kindof a loner, but end up a leaders and heroes. Guilty Crown is more tragic and SAO changes locations a lot more. Both are beautiful animes with similar basic themes.

I found that Sword Art Online is a hard anime to beat and is in fact my favourite anime, but some anime have a lot in common with Sword Art Online. Guilty Crown has that same passion in the fighting with the character Shu, just like Kirito had passion in his fighting. BOTH Kirito and Shu both had the love of their life suffering along with them. I would specifically recommend Guilty Crown to those who loved the passion in Sword Art Online and  for those who loved the passion in Guilty Crown should watch Sword Art Online.

-They both have groups that question the morality of this system and try to oppress it. 
-They both are sci-fi and the mood is pretty dark. 
-You see the characters struggle internally with their emotions and there is also some tragedies in both.

- Both have a male and female protagonist . 
- Great character growth .
- Both male protagonists are driven by their own ideas . 
- Both female protagonists are motivated to help the male protagonist . 
- At least one character from both animes grow a back bone .
- Both male protagonists possess something special ( in Guilty Crown's case ; he can take people's voids && in Psycho - Pass the guy is extremely , unhumanely clever and intelligent. )
- Both endings leave you sort of upset but wraps up the anime nicely.

Both of these anime are set in the future with new and different technology. Although they may seem different, they do have many similarities. They both consist of something that is in the human body that defines them in the anime. For example in guilty crown, the voids represent the people, although in psycho pass, they're mental stability does. But whereas not many people in guilty crown are aware of these voids, in psycho pass, the mental stability can determine your life and is socially accepted. Also, both of them revolve around a special weapon that is unique to the anime.

Both are set in a futuristic Tokyo where a villain tries to change the society in a major way.
In both of them the human mental state is represented in a specific way: in Guilty Crown by "voids" and in Psycho-Pass by the "Psycho-Pass".
The characters are very easy to attach to and present significant character development.
The art and OST are similar and amazing.

Both being original anime from the same studio production I.g and both focus on a male and female lead that are total opposites from each other working together to stopping the bad guys and both even have egoist as well too and both are in a dark futrisistic setting with lots of action in it as well too.

Both series have supernatural abilities with humans who have, and humans who don't have those powers. Both characters get their powers due to an accident and learn to live with them during the anime. Both series also have a supporting female character.
In guilty crown and in tokyo ghoul the mc fights against a big orginization to stay alive.
Although being a bit of a crybaby at first, both mc's turn out to be pretty badass.

both of these shows are around the same length if you take both seasons of tokyo ghoul. They are both very dramatic and action packed. Also they both had potential to be great but were littered with plot holes.

These anime share a similar main character, both males who have lost parents and are awkward anti-social types. In both anime they do not want to get mixed up in the action they are both uncertain of themselves and simply want to stay in the background and let others do the fighting. In both cases this changes as the anime progresses with both main characters coming to embrace their own power. Both anime have lots action and don't shy away from blood and violence. They have similar romance aspects with a strong female character first sticking with the main character out of need or orders and then ,as the story progresses, starting to fall for the main character. read more

both anime explore what is rigth and wrong thing to do. they both present interesting views of work in shades of gray. While Tokyo ghoul may be a bit darker than guilty crown. both works did great in this aspect.

Also what is really good in both of them are beautiful drawings and animation, captivating music and great action.

The main character lives a very normal life until suddenly they are endued with a rare supernatural power and find themselves on one side of a war, against the government. The main character initially struggles with this power until they undergo trauma and as a result begin to lose their grip on their humanity. Both animes take place in a dark version of Japan and have lots of action and drama.

Both shows feature a young man whose life is changed completely when they obtain a power that they never asked for, and meet a young girl who helps them adapt to their new circumstances. They both have fantastic openings and great music in general.

When I found out that Shu and Kaneki share the same voice actor (Austin Tindle), I thought the similarities ended there. They don't, as they're both submissive people who initially struggle to figure out whose side they're on and go through a ton of pain and grief until they finally snap under the pressure. The heroines are total opposites, however- Inori is a calm, feminine nice girl, while Touka is a short-tempered tomboyish tsundere.

I personally prefer "Guilty Crown" as it has better animation and characters and isn't quite as depressing (not that that's saying much, mind you).  read more

Similarities
-Both anime share a similar kind of character development for the male MC
-Both anime have similar settings where Tokyo is found to be a very dangerous place
-Both anime have amazing animation though Tokyo Ghoul is more graphic and gory than Guilty Crown
-Both anime share the fact that the music is amazing and fits very well to the stories

Differences
-Shu and Kaneki originally just start of pretty similar, though once they go through significant hardships (which I will not go into detail with) they split off, Kaneki basically becomes a badass, and Shu becomes a really big jerk.
-The stories are a little similar in the environment in which they're set but apart from that they are vastly different

While TTGL is much more focused on the actual mecha aspects whereas in Guilty Crown it's just a periphery element, the storytelling has some some similarities. Both main characters, Simon and Shu, go through a crazy amount of hardships and losses especially with those close to them. They each have a role model that they look up to and want to eventually become, and both characters go through a significant amount of character development, changing from weak-willed little boys to mature and respectable adults. There's many similarities too in terms of character relationships and plot events, but giving away any of that would lead to massive spoilers. Definitely give both of these a shot. read more

So what to say? At first i wouldn't have thought that those two series have something in common.. at least not this much. But, the more i went ahead and watched Guilty Crown, and the more i felt somehow of a bond between this and TTGL.
• Well, as i said, besides both of them share sci-fi and (lots of) action genres, doesn't seem they have anything else.. but~
• The more you get to know GC's characters, and the more you become to notice how their relations is similar to TTGL's ones.
Let's analyze better: they both have a pretty badass leader (Gai / Kamina) who encourages people (Undertaker / Dai-Gurren Team) to take their rebellion against the "dictators".
Then, the more you watch both series and the more you see that the main character (Shu / Simon) are somehow "weak" but through the adventures get stronger and they both aim to become similar to their best friend or idol (Gai / Kamina).
Still the main female character is strong at fighting and a constant role in the rebellion (Inori / Yoko), despite of course when talking by personality, Yoko surely has way more than Inori.

That's it pretty much. TTGL might look having a "happier" atmosphere, for most of time, than GC but believe me, they both worth watching.
TTGL is epic, as well GC so far is going great.
I'm sure that if you liked one of them, you might probably like the another as well if you give it a try!

TTGL is a lot more over the top, the drawing styles are no where near the same,  and the story lines are slightly different....  But the similarities are unmistakeable.

If you liked Guilty Crown then you'll love TTGL (unless you're not a fan of over the top comedy & action)

If you liked TTGL then you'll probably think guilty crown is a cheap imitation whose story isn't even close to the same....  (Can't help fanboys & girls lol)

a few thing to add and change. for one, if you liked GC (which i don't think is likely = =) u'll love TTGL as said above. 

one thing is that Yoko, although the female lead, isn't the trade off for Inori. if i were to say Ayase would be a better trade off for Yoko. Inori's trade off would be Nia. they both are the main characters love interest and have "damsel in distress" cliche. read more

GC is basically the more serious version of TTGL. While TTGL has a more comedic way of going about things, GC has a more deeper and serious way they do things.

Characters:
Kamina=Gai
Simon=Shu
Nia=Inori
Yoko=Ayase
Viral=Daryl (In a way)
Rossiu=Yahiro (In a way)


Plot:
A rebel group fights another group. Both of them use mechas to fight one another. Both use a special power to assist them in fighting. Both have two parts. Both involve a main character that goes through the challenge of leading a group. The first halves are very similar. Both include a rival that faces the main character and his group.

To be honest, it's kinda hard to do this without spoiling, so go watch both and think about GC if you are watching TTGL and TTGL when you are watching GC. ;D read more

The best way to enjoy Guilty Crown is the same way to enjoy Gurren Lagann. Don't think to hard on the story and watch the awesome shit being displayed. Guilty Crown has the same amount of cool action scenes, pretty visuals, great music, development for the main character, charming romance between the main two leads, emotional moments and well-down themes and messages as Gurren Lagann. They both also have a lot of plotholes which is why it's better to not think to hard on it's story writing.

The reason why I think both serie are very similare is because how the character/plot developed during it's run time. In a way I can stay they're pretty much the same thing just with different characters. Also the MC in both serie starts off as a weak character but later on receive some sort of super power that allows them to save the day, also the female character are also very similar in both show. On top of that there're Mecha in both show as well.

Both are Mecha, Super Power, Sci-fi, Romance shows. The story is something like this. The male lead is weak in terms of power in the beginning, but very soon receives a mysterious power that allows them to fight for their beliefs and make an impact in the results. The way the story progresses and ends also bear semblance. 

Well, these are nothing to be surprised about. After all, the same person wrote the story for Kakumeiki Valvrave and Guilty Crown (also the writer for Code Geass).

They are similar how a person with no military experience, and more or a less a pacifist, ends up leading an entire organization against a major group or entity. They both come into power by accidentally finding something they weren't supposed to. Here it's a robot, and in Guilty Crown its a genetic sample. Both have to deal with teh lost of loved ones and the quarreling within their own ranks, without really understanding the power they have.

Their genre is completely the same. As a school faces terrible problems, the main character will rise to protect it and the people who are important to him. It also pulls in that supernatural powers that the protagonist will gain, but will also struggle to control it.
Anybody who enjoys A slice of life and some Sci-fi mixed in it should definitely watch one of them - or rather both!

Main characters in these shows are kinda similar. They both have mechas although Valvrave is much more focused on them where they don't play huge role in GC.

Both shows start with interesting premise, although they end up mostly wasted.

The boy joins the rebellion, starting a revolution against powerful villains. Akame ga Kill!'s "imperial arms" are like Guilty Crown's "voids".

Akame ga Kill! And Guilty Crown both involve a male protagonist who is dragged into a group of terrorists, more or less against his will. These terrorists are not ones who kill innocent people, rather they fight against corruption. Arguably, the terrorists in each series are the "good guys."

Same plot base: A young boy is recruited into a rebel organization, who are fighting to save the world from the corrupted government. In both cases the rebel orgnanization is depicted as bad. Both are good, and an enjoyable watch. One is a Mecha (Guilty Crown), the other isn’t (Akame ga Kill!).

Similar to Guilty Crown in soundtrack but its complexity in mechanics and storyline actually work and flow. I won't spoil anything but this anime get's deceptively better. Despite a few aggravating scenes this anime pulls such a difficult concept and set of characters together quite beautifully. Most memorable action anime in a while.

They have same kind of story, not really same but, its like at first they knew nothing about themselves, after that they found out something great, worth to do, and to continue their lifes with it.

Guilty crown holds just about the same emotions as this show. It has a real life kind of feel to it and as the series goes on, it becomes more horrifying. The characters aren't perfect, they're flawed as well and it's not a typical anime, incredibly original of how it ended. I never expected anything that happened through the series. 

Characters:
The main girl is not like most characters I've seen in the anime, and is stronger then the main male, just like this one but the main male isn't weak either. The main characters with this anime and guilty crown are very similar.

Plot:
That said, guilty crown revolves the idea of Adam and Eve. A virus had struck earth because of this 'Eve.' This day is called 'Lost Christmas'  Because the virus has struck, the main character can pull out weapons from souls. It's similar in the way that everyone fears this virus and the only way they feel to rid of is to get rid of these people with the virus. The world is coming into an end as well. You'll have to watch all the episodes to understand it yourselves but I highly recommend it! It has a great story-line.  read more

Guilty Crown and Attack on Titan's main characters (Shu and Eren) have the same voice actor. They both are sad animes to watch with lots of violence. They're both really great animes to watch!

They have same kind of story, but not really same but, its like at first they knew nothing about themselves, after that they found out something great, worth to do and continue their lifes with it. 

They got the same OST composer too, great singer. Guilty Crown and Attack on Titan's main characters (Shu and Eren) are the same voice actors.

They're both action anime with the same studio (Production I.G) and same composer (Hiroyuki Sawano), and so both have amazing animation and music. They also have similar themes such as war, a fight for freedom and how much one is willing to sacrifice to get the job done.

Eren and Shu have the same voice actor (Yuki Kaiji), brown hair and no particularly outstanding abilities but a unique power to make up for that (Titan-shifting and Voids, respectively), while Mikasa and Inori are THE action girls of their respective series, rarely show emotion and are characterised largely by their extreme loyalty to the male lead. As both series go on, Eren and Shu become colder, while Mikasa and Inori become warmer.

Armin and Gai SEEM completely different at first. but even they start to show similarities as time goes on.

Essentially, "Attack on Titan" can be seen as "Guilty Crown" perfected. read more

A boy meets a special girl and finds himself dragged into a world of danger that he previously didn't know existed. Both boys, Touma and Shu, find themselves fighting against an enemy to protect something. Great art, great characters, great music. 
Both worlds have a similar feel that draws you in. As they say: "when science and magic meet... They will beat the crap out of you."
Although I'm not sure if there's magic in Guilty Crown yet.

Guilty Crown revolves around a male lead trying to save the world in which they live. Both shows take place in a Dystopian society except that Guilty Crown is a little more futuristic. In Guilty Crown, humanity suffers from a crystallized version of cancer where in Seraph, they fall to a virus that kills all adults. The MC in Guilty Crown is an innocent student dragged into the plot while in Seraph its basically the same thing, except he is an orphan. Both anime have the same composer as well (Hiroyuki Sawano) so the soundtracks sound very very similar.

Zetsuen no Tempest addpermalink

Both pieces display some plot similarities, like for instance the typical "the world is in danger" due to a virus that kills people by transforming them in crystal/metal and the hero with a mysterious deceased sister that was also connected to the other hero. Both animes have great soundtrack and character designs. 
I must say I enjoyed Znt much more than GC. In my opinion, ZnT is GC done right: that is, even if they share plot similarities, the stories differ completely, the direction of Znt was well executed, not containing any of the flaws, plot holes and fanservice of the former. Also, the characters in ZnT have a good development and evolution, with their distinct personalities breaking the line of cliché, leading them to become one of the most unique protagonists of the genre. 
If you haven't watched any of these animes, then if you would like to watch a lighter anime with more action and angst go for GC, if you prefer instead, to watch deep, stimulating and confusing dialogues with poetic twists, go for ZnT. If you watched one of the mentioned, and you usually like anime with plot similarities, then you should watch the other, you might come to enjoy it too.  read more

Both anime have a great animation with a promising plot that gets flushed down the drain. 

Both series face an extinction caused by a virus, in Kabaneri case virus turns people to zombie. Both series have a bishoujo character gone bad, strong relationship/friendship between two leads. Female being a cause of MCs stronger powers and etc.

Differences, different time era. Kabaneri is more bloody. Guilty Crown develops its plot more.

If you managed to see redeeming qualities in one, you might in another. Otherwise watch it purely for animation and sound. More of a story and character person? Don't bother with either then.

About weapons being manifested via souls solidifying into a state that represents a weapon of some sort. Although I've only seen episode 1 of absolute duo, it seems like a promising 7/10 or 8/10 anime series where guilty crown is a 9/10 or 10/10

Corrupt Military? MC with some ability? and a female protagonist the MC has feelings for? those three checks are there, and so if you happened to enjoy one of these the other may be an enjoyable watch for you.

Both anime have good action, with guilty crown having some of the best fighting scenes I've seen in a while. Also both Angel Beats and Guilty Crown tend to be more serious anime with a little comedy thrown in. Both anime focus on the importance of relationships and both have great music! if you liked angel beats you will love guilty crown as well!!

Both series contain sci-fi themes mixed in with action and drama. Additionally, both series have a darker mood as the episodes progresses. There is also a bit of mystery in both series covered up malevolence. 

In addition, the main character are accompanied by a girl with supernatural powers and with a similar stoic personality in which the protagonist tries to save.

Aldnoah.Zero Part 2 addpermalink

Two modern mecha classics which, aided by Sawano's subdued brand of music, forever imprinted themselves into the minds of their viewers. These two definitively proved that all-star writer / director staff lists, when paired with original robot anime, leads to greatness. Never will what they contributed to anime be forgotten. Ever. 

Code Geass was heavily influential for both shows. More so in the case of Guilty Crown since it was created by the same people and had the same basic plot/everything, along with robots on roller-skates. The idea of marrying magic powers with robots is how Geass came to add new life to the mecha genre, which is so notoriously narrow Gundam has been unofficially remaking itself for decades. Aldnoah is like a twisted love child of Geass and Gundam. And on a semi-related note, Aldnoah was so heavily influenced *COUGHPLAGIARISMCOUGH* by Gundam that it even shares the same red-gold uniforms. 

One must be cultured to truly appreciate what these two have to offer: their respective stoic heroic and unheroic wuss leads. In Aldnoah, whenever Gary Inahoe's Engrish win-button theme song starts playing, like myself, you will be doing hip thrusts in-sync with the music. I assure you. read more

Wel that is what they have in common with each other in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, because both main characters kinda become darker and gain a much more complex attitude along the way..hence the quote lol. And much more !

My recommendation.. if you haven't seen either one of the above ^ trust me it's worth your while.

Both animes have:
- Precisely the same Voice actors as mains and they voice the same type of character.
- One of the villains wants to exchange marriage vows with the main heroine. 
- When the main guy wants to obtain more of his power from the others, they have an ecstasy reaction. 
- The main heroine has some secret and is connected to the main hero´s past.

-Both animes has a weak maincharacter at the beginning and a female MC, who is the reason why the male protagonist is seeking for power. 
- Both animes have mecha aspects, but in Guilty crown its more mecha and in Tokyo Ravens its mixed with magic.
-Ending is kinda similiar ( well in the anime at least)
-The art of both animes are really good and the special effects are well done

These shows feature a young boy with a brown hair who starts off optimistic but grows cold hearted later on in a school setting where conflict is bound to happen wherever they are. Later they meet the female character who gives them a special power capable of transcending beyond to the point that the MCs will never go back to their normal lives. Both stories contain supernatural themes, dark moments, slice of life, and drama deconstructing the themes continued by the previous shows before them.

P5 like GC has a teenager whose life was changed forever by a certain power and is has guidance of a strange individual and has a group that rebels against a corrupted society.

P5 and GC have strong artwork and visuals that have worth the budget despite suffering certain story flaws. The soundtrack is worth listening to with music greats and voice acting is well done.

Same Bible setting (If you don't get it, try compare bible with Mass Effect, or FMA, or Guilty Crown and so on. You'll find out incredible amount of similarities.)

Battle for the fate of the world in an apocalyptic state is the theme in both shows in a dark and tragic way but the main difference is the setting (Guilty Crown-Sci Fi and X-Modern) as well as the story and action. Plot twists, decision making, choices, dialogue, and pacing all comes down to play. The best friend-brother-sister triangle is a lot similar. On the other hand, you will see a lot of similarities such as friends turning against enemies, betrayal, deaths on both sides, school scenes, war, and the final decision that will determine everything.

Strong main heroine.
Similar apocalyptic world.
Just some characters can really fight against the enemy.
Nice love story but not the most important part of it.
Good soundtrack.
They can make you feel that feeling of despair that you should have when the world is hopeless and everything is lost, but to never give up because there is always a reason to fight.
