Both series have a young protagonist who is given/discovers he has an unusual power and is required to fight similarly powered people to survive. Both have similar art styles and rather stylishly violent action on top of its inherent moral dilemmas and pervasive air of desperation.
As soon as I started watching Mirai Nikki, I noticed a big similarity to Deadman Wonderland. In both series there's a strange girl that will do anything to protect the boy, both have everyone playing a life or death "game" where you either kill or be killed, the characters are very similar, and in both the main girl is yandere.
There are many other little details that make them similar, but so far those have been the biggest similarities I've seen. I felt the same sort of feeling while watching both of them, aswell. Despite the fact that the art is quite different, they're very much alike.
There's a style of horror in them that I don't see in many animes, which makes one a must watch to anyone who liked the other! read more
The principal caracters are in a ''game'' where they have to kill each other. Some want to participate, other have to fight against their will. Ganta and Yuki are quite similar, they are both weak at the begining and become more stronger through the story. They both are protected by a strong girl...
The atmospheres of both shows are extraordinarily similar, possessing a common darkness and near-constant suspense. Deadman Wonderland tends to be a bit flashier about the gore, but both are undeniably gory. Both have supernatural elements to them, and the protagonists of both appear eerily alike at certain times (Ganta and Yukiteru, and Shiro and Yuno, respectively). There is also a common theme of survival, and, sometimes, being forced to cruelty and murder in order to continue living, as well as deception. The main characters are never quite sure who to trust, and they suffer greatly if they put their trust in the wrong hands.
These shows are far from being copies of each other, but they both demonstrate multiple commonalities and similarities and divert greatly from most anime even in their own genres, making them rare finds for the fans of this type of anime. If you enjoy one of these two shows, you’ll most likely enjoy the other, as well. read more
In both, there's a strange girl that will do anything to protect the boy. It's also unknown why the girl wants to protect the main boy so much. Both have everyone participating in a survival game. Lots of kill or be killed situations. There's gore scenes in each. They both offer the same kind of suspense for the viewer.
Both are intense, bloody and engaging shows that center around survival. Shiro and Ganta's relationship is very similar to that of Yuno and Yukkitteru-- both female leads have the dominant personality, mixed with mystery and more to them than meets the eye. Similar art between the two. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other, guaranteed.
1. Both have the same setting of modern day Japan
2. Feature weak-willed boys who eventually become hardcore through various hardships but maintain their humanity
3. Lots of gore, plot twists, and other messed up stuff
4. Has a female character who constantly saves the boy and is hiding secrets from him
Overall amazing animes really worth watching
- They are both involved in a game in which they risk their life.
- The main boy and girl characters are VERY similar, with the girl being crazy about the boy.
- The main boy protagonist is a coward and got in the situation because someone set him up or he has to do it.
Deadman Wonderland is a dark series where the protagonist is in very real danger and could die at any moment in a high-stakes 'game'. It's a lot more bloody than Mirai Nikki, though to me, they share similar themes and concepts.
Mirai Nikki has a similar feeling to Deadman Wonderland. Both involve a 14 year old boy in a survival game fighting for his life. Also, the main girl in both animes appear to be crazily in love with the boy and is constantly looking out to protect him from danger. Both shows are violent (DW is more violent).
Oh God, these two series. You just can't help but think about Mirai Nikki when watching Deadman Wonderland as well as vice versa. Let's break this down here and see what they have in similarities:
1) Both series has a weak protagonist (at first) that gets their life turned around forever after the pilot episode as well as special circumstances. The main protagonist in both series then meets a young girl who has an interest in him.
2) Both series main female protagonist at first seemingly playful has a darker side to themselves as well as a holder of many secrets.
3) In both series, it's all about power and nearly every one where its usage is essential to survival.
4) Both series contain psychological themes that is presented both physically and mentally with some thriller like endings.
5) Both series contains drama, action, as well as gore presented in various ways to portray the reality of the characters' survival/deaths
6) Both series contain supernatural elements
Overall, both Mirai Nikki and Deadman Wonderland are two series that should be watched only if one enjoyed the other and vice versa, at least to some extent. read more
I haven't watched the other recommendation yet, but it does resemble Deadman Wonderland A lot.
Both are a nightmare survival game, filled with blood and gore.
Both have the main character as a shy boy.
Both main characters have a girl that has strong emotions for the boy.
Both the girls are extremely strong and take anyone and anything that targets their crush, no exemptions or thoughts about right and wrong, if you touch their crush you'll be torn to pieces.
Your average wimpy teenage boy, thrown into a game of life and death. Turning his life upside down. Accompanied by a psychotic girl that only cares for him. Yandere for short. With all this to stand by, both anime are precisely the same.
Both girls love the main character and both girls have like a split personality were there nice normally, but when something happens they go INSANE
Same as in Mirai Nikki there is a lot of fighting in both of them, but in Deadman Wonderland the characters have powers (that involve minipullating their blood into some insanely cool weapons
•both have the strategic/determined to win streak in the main protagonist,
•both have a weak/pitiful/too nice, young boy, which he is partnered with a powerful, motivational young girl which has the intent to kill, while she keeps secrets
•both is given a power, that they have to win to survive the 'game' by killing off every other supporting character
•both have lots of blood, twists, and wicked laughing
•both show the characters mentality as they kill others for survival, in which their personalities change throughout the show, toughening up as the plot/story develops.
•both are similiar in which its a survival game with blood, twists, and the protagonists are personality wise the same. read more
The two animes are a litte heavy and with a bit of gore action. (Spoil Alert) One of the main characters in either one of them is a girl with a disturbed split/bipolar personality. Another similarity is the fact that in either one of the plots, the characters have to forcely kill or fight each other.
Both series revolve around a forced "survival game" of sorts with prominent themes of trust and betrayal, and involve an inexperienced young boy and a mentally abnormal love interest that protects him. They also have a central theme about becoming strong through the destruction of innocence.
Both have frequent bloody violence, mild fanservice, a large cast of odd characters, and an overall "twisted" feel. However, Deadman Wonderland is more action-oriented and Mirai Nikki is more psychological.
Both involve a game to the death, and both involve a yandere. Though in this case, Mirai Nikki takes both to the extremes. If you enjoyed the thrill and suspense from Deadman Wonderland, you'll most definitely crave for Mirai Nikki.
When I first saw Deadman Wonderland, my first impression told me: Hey, I've seen something like this somewhere before.
Both animes are set in a 'futuristic' supernatural fantasy world, featuring a 'strong' female protaganist and 'weak' male protaganist who struggles to overcome the shock of sudden change in their life.
Personally, I prefer Mirai Nikki over Deadman Wonderland. Deadman Wonderland is too straightforward and shallow, it lacks the deep, thrilingl, filling plot/storyline and the strategies and the conspiracy that Mirai Nikki offers. Also in Mirai Nikki, the male protaganist's battle for his change in life is more evident.
If you enjoyed this anime, i guarantee you'd definitly love Mirai Nikki. read more
Both have a weak male lead who is dragged into a deadly survival situation where he meets a strong female lead who is always protecting him. Both male leads get stronger in mind and body as the series progresses and both series have tons of blood and violence.
Both are almost the same, a survival game of life and death. Even the characters are much alike. Overall if you are looking for an anime with thrill and excitement and bloody, I recommend to watch them both.
Deadman Wonderland is like Mirai Nikki but better. It's like Akira but better. It has the same dark and bloody aspect with twisted personalities and interesting back stories and an archetypally cute girl for a young boy who suddenly finds uexpected powers, but like gasai yuno, shiro is so much more than she seems.
both have main characters that are weak and are either romantically involved with or friends with a yandere that fight and defend them, both are survival tactic animes (i.e. you have to fight to survive), and both have awesome supporting characters that befriend the protagonist and help them in some way (uryuu minene in mirai nikki, senji kiyomasa in deadman wonderland)
One of the MCs is Yandere. The other MC starts out as a major "Beta" male but grows to become braver as blood, death and time passes by. These are two main things they have in common, but they both also have the "kill or be killed" kind of plot. Blood will be spilled, and if you're into that kinda thing, you will be into this.
Both are bloody anime and have similar characters (Yuuki - Ganta; Yuno - Shiro). The story of both anime talks about a group of people who have to kill each other. The relationships of YuukixYuno and GantaxShiro are similar.
As many of you above I too go for this same crazyness, not too much of my favourite as plot and telling style but still too many similarities with characters to miss this one out!
Both have crazyy crazyy bitch to kick HIS ass !!
I see so many recommendations for Mirai Nikki I dont have enough facepalms for it. I spend hours ( days even ) to search for something similar and the only thing I found was deadman wonderland. Dont believe other recommendations for the love of god ^^
Mirai Nikki is an excellent anime that has a storyline well-crafted and that makes you hate a character after you come to love them and then hate them again. At the end of the episode it leaves you wanting more, to see more and to know more. It has a little comedy bits, jokes here and there that really add to quality of the series but mostly is a psychological thriller that is rich in bloodshed and warped love story’s.
Both focus on gore-fests and shock values to amuse the viewers, and horror fanatics alike. The art style is similar too, and the main males have personality traits that are in common with each other. Both shows have a good survival feel to them, and characters that have mental issues. The only difference is Deadman Wonderland feels more unfinished than Mirai Nikki.
-Both main characters start off as innocent students and have a power thrust upon them
-Both can't grasp how to use their power
-Both MC are protected by a strange female character
-they are both manipulated by a "higher power" to play a game of survival with others
-diary owners are similar to deadmen in that are chosen and can both be created on will
in mirai nikki. the main characters are very alike. they are both wimps who man up at the end of the film. they both develop a deep connection with the viewer. if you liked deadman wonderland, chances are you will like mirai nikki too. they are both gorey and have a similar cast. both have great plots with few plot holes.
It's almost the same thing. The main character begins from being and ignorant dipshit with a normal life and then all hell breaks loose. He meets a girl with mental issues who he actually has met before and she is way stronger than the main character. And someone loses an eye.
Each anime offer a competition, where you must kill to survive. Thus display themes of survival tactics and death/misery. Both male MCs suffer from the same lack of courage and understanding of the world/competition they have been dragged into and are useless without help. This help comes in the form of the female lead MCs who make up for the male MCs lack of survival skills. Both female MCs display an unhealthy interest in the male MCs and these female MCs are the best aspects of both anime. (the male MCs tend to convey annoying traits and dialogue)
If you like one, you may well enjoy the other. Some differences to consider is the length of the two shows. (Deadman Wonderland = 13 episodes, Future Diary = 26 episodes) And Deadman Wonderland also has an open ending. (room for another season) read more
Character development is very fast paced from wimpy to hero. They are both gory and darker, but also have some comedic aspects to it. Mirai Nikki is more a comedy where as Deadman Wonderland is more a thriller/horror. Both star a yandere character, as defined by the anime community. Strong females. Both are highly recommended.
What I truly found similar with those two anime of confirmed distinguish topic is not only how the genres of blood, gore, dark, horror and devotion of hopes pops out from their veins to your eyes but how the interactions and reflections of the characters and the atmospheres of these anime links them together has pairs of pillars. The two main characters and protagonists of these series (Yukiteru and Ganta) have so much in common I would say they are the same. As well as for the support characters with almost same order or position in the scenario.
Main Characters start off weak and pretty hopeless. But they both start to build confidence further into the anime. Both have lots of murders with plenty of blood. Both MCs have a supporting female lead. And they both revolve around a twisted game where the MCs are forced to murder the other "contestants".
These two shows are similar in that they are quite dark shows, focusing on teenage characters as they are overcome with a similar issue (that means life or death for them) and follows them as they deal with the issues, with many sympathetic side-characters dying along the way.
-Both include survival games
-Both reasonably gory
-Both MCs seem pretty weak on their own at first
-Both MCs are protected by a girl
-Both anime will give you a thrill if you like survival game anime
-Ganta and Yukiteru have a sense of desperation that's made clear to the viewer
-Both include a yandere girl
-Both could be put under the 'psychological' genre
-Both explore 'dark' themes
The list can go on but I'll stop here. If you enjoyed watching one, I think you will enjoy watching the other.
Both series are set in a survivial game-ish setting where the protaganist is a whimp in the beginning but becomes stronger as the story progresses. They both also feature a psychotic female character who is very strong and have an intrest in the MC. Both are also very grim stories.
The main character lives a peaceful life until the day when his life changes into a survival game.
Blood, horror, weak main character in the beginning, a strong and weird girl who love the main character, and a lot of madness !
I think if you appreciate the one, you should appreciate the other one.
(The anime adaptation of Deadman Wonderland was a springboard for the manga, so read the manga because is much better and the anime is not complete.)
Both series showcase an pretty introverted main character who is 'gifted' with amazing powers. Throughout the show, both main characters move from being a introverted young boy up to a thoughtful and aggressive contender in the 'arena' they are forced to fight in.
The settings for both anime are a bit on the depressing side, with no real friends and everyone as a type of enemy save for the supporting female roll who is just a bit toooo friendly and willing to help the main character.
In addition, both series do not hesitate to showcase these 'games' in all of their intense and violent glory, nor do they ever truly let up in the intensity. read more
Another 'kill or be killed' title. Deadman Wonderland is also reliant on the aid of powers and the contestants in the killing game are also hand picked by some higher power (can't remember if that was actually revealed in the anime as well as the manga).
I guess Shiro could be classed as similar to Yuno as she follows around Ganta (MC) and appears to be cute and ditsy but has a whole other side to her. I see a lot of similarities between characters in both of these anime.
The main characters of Mirai Nikki and Deadman Wonderland have much in common: The male protagonist, Ganta, begins as a bit of a wimp, no friends and forced into a crazy contest to the death with other users of a special power he and they wield. He also meets the female protagonist with a crazy knack for killing, who undoubtedly loves and trusts him. As for the story, both involve fighting elements of "only one winner who lives." Its themes of romance may be a bit less extreme, yet the personalities of the characters tend to be just as crazy. The power each character wields reflects their personality, much like that of the future diaries. The blood-bending powers are all used differently, however for the same effect, as with Mirai Nikki. Some characters appear to be allies while actually being enemies. Personalities range from pure terrorist to fighting for revenge. Ganta, similar to Yukiteru, fights to avenge the deaths of those close to him. Also to be noted, a large incident in which many students die in a school are important events in both animes. read more
Well, it is exactly but not much same to this. Unlikely, this is actually game with diary of future which it caused twist life in Yukiteru Amano. But in Deadman Wonderland is similar to this because this is sound like game. This is caused by whose boy have power but became twist in his life. Ganta Igarashi was forced into game of fight that was very violence and risk on his life. It compared to Mirai Nikki but it was pretty similar! I bet you would be like this anime for sure 100%! I recommend you to watch this and then tell us what do you think this? Hmm.. I watched thsi but it was insane and amazing! Well, it was very good one anime.  read more
Mirai Nikki (The future diary) is similar to Deadman wonderland because they both have aspects of powers and a weird romance between the main charters.
Both of the main characters are weak but come through in the end.
There are more reasons but I won't spoil it.
Future Diary main character was chosen by god to participate in a battle royale whlist in deadman wonderland main charcater was chosen by people.
Both gain powers and works with a female.
Both popular anime.
The main heroines, Yuno and Shiro, are quite similar in terms of personality (both act/are usually innocent but can get pretty violent) and always try to protect their friend, Yukiteru and Ganta. Both animes share a dark theme, but Deadman Wonderland has a more eerie atmosphere. The main protagonists are very weak at the beginning but develop in the course of time.
If you enjoyed Deadman Wonderland with its bloodiness and violence, you will probably also like Mirai Nikki.
- the protagonists have to fight for their survival
- most of the time they are protected by the female leads
- both protagonists wonder why they can't fight with their own strength why they must be protected
- survival games
- similar art
- memorable openings
+ The male protagonists are quite similar. In most situations, they require help from the female leads. In other words, they're crybabies
+ Continuing from above, the female protagonists are similar in terms that both of them help save the guy escape from death
+ The plot revolves around the game they have to play to survive
+ The guy and girl have to work together to defeat other contestants
+ Both anime are violent
- The goals of the games are different. Mirai Nikki's is to fight to become a God while the Deadman Wonderland's is simply fight to survive
- The motives of the girl to help the guy is different in both (Not mentioning spoilers)
- Of course, the setting is quite different read more
It's like a mirror of each other. Not a mistake Deadman Wonderland is EXTREMELY identical with Mirai Nikki. The main character is a same insecure boy (and in this case have extremely identical personality as well) who got dragged into a 'game' of survival that he doesn't want to play. Both share the same crazy psychological interaction in around the main character, make you doubt which one trust-able and which one will stab you in the back. The animation share the same gore and violence but Deadman wonderland have more ecchi illustrations than Mirai Nikki.
I will 100% say if you like Mirai Nikki, you will like Deadman Wonderland. Deadman Wonderland have a nice pace and the story progressing well, while Mirai Nikki since have more episodes it have a slower pace and less compact than Deadman Wonderland. read more
These two shows are similar in how Yuki and Ganta are both thrown into a death game they don't want to be in; along with some new found supernatural powers, with a strong female yandere that follows them. In my opinion the Branches of Sin is a cooler power than a Future Diary. This means that there are some cool action scenes in Deadman Wonderland due to the powers, but Mirai Nikki has a better psychological edge to it. Both are brilliant shows.
- Blood and gore.
- Survival of the fittest.
Mirai Nikki focuses on a "survival game", while Deadman Wonderland follows the main protagonist fighting for his life in a 'special' prison.
These two anime are similar because:
-The main character is weak
-A survival game with kill or be killed situations
-The MC enters the game against his will
-The mysterious female character who saves the MC from every danger
Indeed similar, while watching Mirai Nikki it brought me back the feeling i had when i used to watch Higashi no Eden.
Both series are action and mystery genres, as well both share an important point of the main line in the plot: a teenager (Akira for Higashi and Yukiteru for Mirai) received a "special phone" and has to somewhat change the world with it.
Akira has 10 billions of yen which he has to use to change Japan for good, as well Yukiteru has the diary of future which he needs to use in order to survive and become the new god of space and time.
Still, both characters, are introduced to play this "game" and have to pay attention to the other contestants who, of course, will try anything in their power to trouble them, or else worse, kill them; because everyone wants obviously win the game.
The strong action of both series will keep you very interested as to know what will come next, by each episode you'll watch.
If you liked one of those, it's highly probable that you will enjoy the other as well! read more
Higashi no Eden reminded me a lot of Mirai Nikki. Both are really interesting stories about 12 people in a "game." Using their cell phone, one of them will change the world somehow while the rest will die.
Both involve 12 players fighting to stay alive
Both involve players using their special cell phones to win the battle
Both involve a Mysterious mastermind behind the game
In both anime the main character is helped by a girl
They both involve strategy and planning in order to win the game
12 people with special cell phones compete in a survival game in Japan. One of the cell phone holders watches the other eleven. One of the main characters loses their memories early on. The winner of the survival game gets a position of power.
They are 12 people connected in a game with cellphones with a battle royale outcome, only one can survive.
They are very different in animation style and way of storytelling but they are both great and if you love the 12 people+cellpphone+battle royale story you'll love both of them!
When I saw Mirai Nikki, I remembered immediately Higashi no Eden.
The fact that they use mobile phones as a way to change the future - in different ways and with ambitions a bit different, but still this way. - Got me interested in both stories.
A plot well done, many great works.
The use of cellphones in order to see the events of other peoples actions in Eden of the east there is basically one diary with all the events in it and its always being updated but in Mirai Nikki Each Diary is different and corresponds with that persons physical and mental conditions.
Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki are quite similar. First, the plot are mainly based on a game that's used on a cellphone. Second, the main character feels lost in the anime and tries to figure out what to do. Third, people die; though, Mirai Nikki is more bloody.
Both Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki have 12 individuals with phones (usually) that have something special about them. One major difference is Higashi's less supernatural and not a horror anime like Mirai Nikki. Also, it should be noted that Higashi ONLY has special phones involved, whereas the powers in Mirai Nikki don't necessarily require a phone...it just has to be some sort of diary (be that a phone, book, or what have you). Still, if you enjoyed the idea of 12 individuals getting thrown in a special (and oftentimes dangerous) situation against each other, or if you enjoyed one of these two, you'll probably like the other. Probably. :) read more
Both series, through the use of cell phones and knowledge, allow for a total of 12 individuals to compete in a survival game. In Mirai Nikki, the objective of the game is to destroy everyone else's diary, or simply kill them, until there is only one person left standing. This final person, by winning the game, is granted the title of god in the place of Deus ex Machina, who is on the verge of death. While, in Higashi no Eden, the objective of the game is for the participants to "save" Japan by using the 10 billion yen that is on their phone. Both series are great and will leave you in awe. read more
both are survival games involving a group of 12 people who have cell phones possessing strange qualities that help the participant compete without giving them an actual supernatural power to fight.
both have shocking twists and turns that leave you wondering who is on who's side, and an ending that is impossible to grasp.
both manage to wrap up their stories in such a way that you are both surprised, satisfied, and left to wonder what will happen.
both have unusual romances for the lead characters.
Both story is about the main character gets a cell phone with awesome power and their mission is to change the world.....but mirai nikki is more of a horror genres and Eden of the east is more of a romance genres....my point is both anime are good and if you seen one you show check out the other
Both of these animes contain cell phones with mysterious powers. Each show had 12 players and the goal is to be the overall winner of a game.
Mirai Nikki is more serious and sci-fi, Higashi no Eden is funnier and has a lighter feel.
Both animes involve a game of life and death , with unknown opponents competing for a grand prize. Both also use phones(or in mirai nikki case phones or something similar) to help them in their task. Mirai Nikki contains fantasy elements, with gore. On the other hand eden of the east is more realistic, and is not as graphic. Both animes though are definetly worth a watch.
Both of them consist of characters taking part in a survival game, with mobile phones as the tool to battle one another. However Mirai Nikki decides to portray this in a much more violent way, making you want to see how the Diary owners will fare in battles against one and other. Whereas Eden of the East pulls you in with a much more mysterious feel, giving you the desire to watch more to piece together the mystery.
Both have survival games where their cellphones have powers that help them stay alive. They both have some drama in them but for the most part Higashi no Eden is a Mystery while Mirai Nikki is a Horror/Action.Both female leads are opposites of each other and almost the same can be said for the male lead.
As others have said, they are similar! A game using your lives in Japan!
However, Mirai Nikki is a bit more... Wild and disturbing compared to Higashi no Eden, which is really cute and funny most of the time. Higashi no Eden is leaned more towards girls IMO.
They both are survival games. They both use cell phones in the game. They both have at least double digit enemies meaning at least 10 others besides the Protagonist. Both the protagonists are male and are friendly with a female. They are both action packed from the start and interest never fades.
SURVIVAL GAME: The plots for both includes having 12 people gathered and given a special cellphone in order for them to survive. The cellphone is what identifies them as a player, fighting to win a mysterious battle.
Mirai Nikki is more horror, gore, and supernatural than Eden of the East as it is more innocent and has a lighter story.
Both have a great love story that will let you sail great ships lol
- both are focusing in a game scenario where you you have to eliminate the other players to win.
- players have to track down the others using a specific device. Eden uses other players' logs while Mirai Nikki is on future predictions.
- both are thrillers. Mirai Nikki is slightly better.
Mirai Nikki ( Future Diary ) and Higashi no Eden ( Eden of The East ) are both very similar. The plots of both series is the main male character being sent into a real life death game were you have to kill the other players to survive. Both are VERY similar. The similarities are.....
- Both have cell phones as their weapons
- Both main male and female characters fall in love
- Both are plots are the same
- Both main male characters become more mature as the series continues.
- Both main female main support the male main
- Both have to fight to survive
If you haven't seen these series, I highly recommend it :)
While Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki are different in terms of character, they share the same idea of twelve people who are selected and forced to play a "game." The two animes also share the idea of the "players" having phones with a certain degree of power.
Both anime have some sort of death game, where the winner becomes very powerful. Both use phones as their main tool. Both have good romance. Both have badass characters (Mirai Nikki: Yuno / Higashi no Eden: Akira Takizawa) Both are thrilling and contain some spectacular plot twists :) A must watch!
If you enjoyed the concept of Higashi no Eden -- a game involving cellphones, with 12 players chosen without a say, where only one can be the winner and the others must all die -- then you will love Mirai Nikki. The atmosphere and purpose of the game are quite different - in Higashi no Eden, it is fairly light-hearted and the aim is to save Japan, while Mirai Nikki is pretty dark and the only goal is to become the new God -- however, the concept is nearly identical, including the romance between the two main characters, friends outside of the game getting involved, and the surprising plot twists! However, be prepared for a LOT more blood and gore! read more
-both have the "op cell phones"
-eden has a better romance, but mirai nikki has a romance(though creepy) too
- both main characters have the aim to take over a role that was formerly inherited by the initiator of the game
- neither yukiteru nor takizawa get arrogant/egoistic in spite of their power
They are both Survival Games and There are 12 Participants who needs to use their cellphones to change the world. However only one shall be the winner and the MC also has a relationship with the female lead. Although The Female Lead in Mirai Nikki is a lot more "Clingy" than the one in Higashi no Eden. If you like The first one then you will like the other.
The core concepts of both these shows are very similar and at the same time very different. The concept of the cell phone as their main tool of survival and destruction are unique and similar between both series. The mystery of the game and the concealment of main characters through out each series with each having their own motive to save or kill each other is right along the lines of Higashi no Eden. I highly recommend if you liked Eden and what something that is very similar but with a refreshing twist and new characters, Mirai Nikki would be perfect.
The plot of both shows revolves around cell phones that citizens have been given and are forced to use in order to survive. The main characters of each discover new things about their respective "games" and learn how to function within them. Both shows contain an ultimatum that includes death as a possible penalty. Psychologically thrilling with a hint of romance, both series will have you on the edge of your seat until the end.
-include a game with 12 participants
-have a device of some sort to use in the game (the Salecao phones for Higashi no Eden and the future diaries for Mirai Nikki)
-both have male a female leads where female is interested in the guy
-Mirai Nikki is more violent and has more gore
-the female lead in Higashi no Eden is not a killer
-different overall feel in anime
People who were chosen for a kind of game where only one will be the winner, and will acquire great power. These people each acquires a Quick Tools that will facilitate the game. Things will be hard to do when their identities are not known.
If you enjoyed the phone giving you control aspect of Mirai Nikki, Higashi no Eden is for you as these people can do pretty much anything with their phones
This anime is also a death game of sorts but there is less urgency to it as the phone users don't hunt each other down and a player only meets death if they break kinda easy to follow rules. This one is more so a mystery and also a comment on modern day society (more specifically employment and NEETs)
If you liked Mirai Nikki, then you may like Higashi no Eden. As in Mirai Nikki, there is a game using mobile phones where each candidate must eliminate the others to win. But it has less violence, much more thinking and no fantastic stuff.
The shows are very similar because both shows are action, mystery shows. The MC receives a "special" cellphone that he needs to use to change the world. In Higashi no Eden the MC gets 10 billion yen, which he need to use to change Japan. In Mirai Nikki he has a cellphone that he can use to see the future that he needs to use to survive. Mirai Nikki goes more to the horror and gore side and Higashi no Eden is a show with more humor.
Both feature an almost identical premise in "survival game with phones".
Be warned: Mirai Nikki is significantly more violent and heavier. Higashi no Eden, on the contrast, has a more fleshed out MC who is actually decisive and intelligent.
Both shows have to do with weird mysterious mobile phones. The users of these phones in both anime are taking part in a survival game. Eden of the East focuses on a more serious and deep plot full with mystery right from the beginning, without using characters as props(Oh the yandere girl we all know), and Mirai Nikki focuses more on romance if you can call this thing a romance. Both have awesome opening songs and revovle around mystery and games of life and death. If you liked Higashi no Eden and you're into paranoid infatuated girls, you should definately watch Mirai Nikki, you're bound to like it read more
To me, watching Higashi No Eden was the same as Mirai Nikki
They both give off a very similar vibe
-They are randomly selected to be in a survival game.
-Utilizes their cellphones to play the 'game'.
-The amount of mystery and suspense will leave the viewers looking for more.
-Has to eliminate the other players of the game to win.
-Main lead has a girl following him around.
However, Mirai Nikki gives off a very creepy vibe everytime you watch it and will send a chill down your spine while Higashi No Eden is more relaxed.

We can say that both have romance, drama and are like a game of survival, however Higashi no Eden there is a very good humor, and romance as nothing forced Mirai Nikki, I recommend those who like drama, romance and mystery. For further information, see my comments.

The plot of both the series revolves around a protagonist who is caught up in a game along with other members, in the name of justice. Also the power that is granted to the characters in both the series is a mobile phone
In both anime most of the characters are dragged in to the game where only one person wins, and others have to die.
Both anime are based on interaction with mobile phones and thoes phones have some crazy powers.
Both series involve multiple competitors participating in a 'game' (and using cellphones). While Future Diary is more based on killing everyone else in order to win, Eden of the East is more on spending money to reshape Japan
both animes have similar feel to them, the concept of having a device that can virtually do anything for you and how they can help you win a game that can determine the fate of the world ...at times the mind games can be convoluted which is not necessarily a good or bad thing (i say it depends on the viewer)
Both anime are survival death games. While Mirai Nikki lets players use personalized Future Diaries, Btooom! gives them specific types of bombs.
Mirai Nikki has supernatural elements while Btoom stays on real side.
Main characters are incredibly dumb but Btooom!'s MC at least doesn't care about ethics that much which makes him more interesting.
Both Anime focus around a game that the members are competing against to win a prize. The problem... both games involve killing other people in order to win. The main characters of both Anime doesn't want to kill people either, which in itself is another problem.
Both shows involve intense survival games. In Mirai Nikki, players in the survival game use diaries that can somewhat accurately predict the future to be the last player alive. In Btooom, players use bombs to ensure that they survive. Btooom has more psychological elements to it, but they can both be considered psychological horror.
-Both animes are about receiving or meeting a third party to supply you with powers to fight in a survival game, and aim to defeat the opposing parties to win the game.
-Both contains romance, and is gorey
Both are survival games where a certain number of people have to fight against each other. While in Mirai Nikki a cellphone is used to guide the characters, in Btooom! it's used a radar located in the participants' hands.
Although i haven't seen past ep 2 of Btooom, it turning out to be a 'survival of the fitness' type of anime - like Mirai Nikki. The first similarity i saw between the two anime were that each candidate are given objects and have to learn to use them to survive. In Mirai Nikki is was a future diary (in the form of a mobile phone or a scroll), in Btooom they are given a type of bomb. The similarities continue with the amount of bloodshed, explosives, stabbings and a deep history of the characters which has shaped them into the characters they are at the beginning of the anime.  read more
Both anime involves playing a game of survival and whoever becomes the winner gets to survive. In the anime, many people's true nature were shown; their cruelty towards other people. The female lead falls in love with the male lead and assists him in surviving.
It's all about survival and games in both of these series.
In Mirai Nikki and Btooom!, the theme of survival horror is present and there are the "players" who fights for their lives. The main protagonist meets a female protagonist who both happens to be gamers in the series.
There is violence. There is blood. There is emotions. There is drama. Then, at times, there seems to be a little hope..
also very bloody and gory with a lot of crazy characters
People compete against eachother in order to survive (or in this case to not get killed)
a lot of sick stuff and twisted stuff, just like in btooom!
Both series are about a survival game forced on the main character.
While you use cellphones in Mirai Nikki which predicts the future there are radars in the participants' hands which locates the enemy.
Both anime are about a Battle Royale where random people are chosen to kill each other. This is either to become the next God (Mirai Nikki), or to simply stay alive. (Btooom!) Both anime are very well put together and are interesting from start to finish. In any case there will be a lot of deaths, lots of exciting moments and blood will be flowing, no matter which of these anime you choose.
Both anime revolve around the the characters playing a survival to the death game against others players resulting in a prize. The players were all pushed into the game under their will and the only way out was death. In Mirai Nikki, the players used a diary to help them that could tell about the future, and when the diary breaks they die. In Btooom, the players use different kinds of bombs and have a use radar to locate the characters They are both full of blood, killing, betrayal, companionship ,and romantic scenes.
Though Btooom! has bombs instead of supernatural phones that predict the future, like Mirai Nikki, they both revolve around survival as a theme and are about ordinary(ish) people that have to kill each other as per the rules of a game that the main protagonists are forced into playing.
Both main characters are socially withdrawn, reluctant to kill, and they fall in love with the lead girl (although you'll see that Himiko's and Yuno's personalities and roles are quite different).
Both also feature an interesting cast of characters ranging from cunning to crazy.
If you enjoyed either series, you will enjoy the other.
Mirai Nikki, and Btooom! both are survival games, the contestants in must fight to the death. In Btooom they are given Bombs that are called BIM's, they are given different type's of BIM's and a scanner each. In Btooom! you have only a Limited amount of BIM's the only way to gain more is by killing a contestant your self and take their BIM's. Similar to Btooom's BIM's and scanner in Mirai Nikki the contestant is given a future diary, they are varied like the BIM's in Btoom!, the future diaries predict the future but your future can change from other diary owners having it also work like the scanner in Btoom!. Both Mirai Nikki and Btoom!
are darker shows, you get to see how people react and struggle when their life is completely changed and placed in a alien like environment, both shows are also
worth the watch!
This is my first recommendation that i have written I hope it was helpful and not a waste of your time, have a good one. read more
Both are survival anime. There's also romance between the male and female protagonists who work together to win the game. People also lose sanity in both anime. Both anime are also have pretty cool and gory deaths.
Btooom! and Mirai Nikki (TV) have the same psychological feeling to them. They both have people turning on, betraying, and allying each other. They are very similar since both anime feature a survival "game". If you liked one, you would most likely like the other.
Both are about people trying to make it out alive in a survival game.
Both protagonists are socially withdrawn at first, but slowly develop self confidence and become more outspoken throughout the show.
They are the same except in this one all you need to live and get back home is you have to kill 7 people. This is based of a game where you have to use bombs there are tracker bombs, timers, fist contact, dark hole, trap, and smoke acid bombs. The bombs are like the diarys in this anime. There is a love interest. There are 30 ish people playing the death game. Hope this help you thanks for your time.
Survival, trust, and competition, a death match game involving competitors to frag people to complete or escape the game. As the quote says when in this dangerous situation; 'It's every man for himself." This can be a quite the challenge for the main male character, not by a death game, but also a female character is added in their life who mostly help and escape this death match. Expect some plot twist, romance, and strategies that they will use throughout the show.
Btooom takes place on an isolated island where competitors frag other people to escape. Mirai Nikki uses a phone to tell future events and uses it as an item to fight competitors. read more

Watch Mirai Nikki if:
You want to follow a male lead that acts more human-like. You want a colourful cast of side characters that each have their own complexities. Interested in more of a science fiction-feel. & would like to know a good definition of a yandere character.
Watch Btooom! if:
You want a survival game to follow more of an online video game. Don't mind character development via flashbacks. Would like to see more crazy than normal people. & would like a main character that isn't a "wiener".
- Both survival death games
- Both have a female protagonist who loves the MC
- Both contain a dark plot
-Female protagonists have different personalities
- Mirai Nikki is more supernatural, where as Btooom is more realistic
- Mirai Nikki has more Bloodlust
- Btooom is more about the two main MCs romantic development, where as in Mirai Nikki its more about the female MC obsessing over the male MC
Both are survival games. The contestants must kill each other in order to win the death game, and in return they are rewarded if they win. Both series have a lead male and female protagonist that work together.
They're both survival anime.
They're both romances at heart, with the two leads getting together.
They both have very unique and memorable characters.
And they're both pretty damn enjoyable.
Overall, Mirai Nikki has better plot twists, and Btooom! is a tad more realistic with respect to the psychological damage that comes with a death game, but if you liked Mirai Nikki, I'm positive Btooom! will keep you wanting more.
Both series' are blood spilling action genre, with bits of ecchi scenes in some episodes.
Both series' main male protagonists fights for survival in order to accomplish their wish.
while the main female protagonists differ from each other, one is can kill mercilessly while the other fears men and somehow hesitates to kill.
Both series' story revolves on survival and trusting on one.
The main character in both, Btoom and Mirai Nikki, are stuck fighting against other humans. There's betrayal, violence, and a lot of murder in each. However, in Btoom they're stuck on an island whereas in Mirai Nikki the whole world is their playground to kill the other players.
both main characters have very little social life's and are forced into a game where they have to fight people to the death .at the start they don't know its a game of death .in both anime they resist the game and chose not to play it. but the other contestants force there hands and they must change to survive .in both shows the characters get a heads up on the enemy's . movements in btooom its a raider and in mirai nikki it the future dairy's .each person has there own advantages btooom different bombs in mirai nikki it different dairy's . this gives each person a unique tactical advantage .the only real difference is that in mirai nikki the main character is scared needs protection and in Btooom the main character usually ends up protecting people ........ that and mirai nikki has a psychotic love interest .you know the best part of that show. but aside form that basicly mirai nikki is a scifi version of btooom.......and if it helps the main character in btooom considers doing bad things to the main love intrest ... :/ BTOOOM's still good watch it. not as good but. watch it mirainikkibetter ............................................................................ WHY WOULD YOU READ ALL OF THIS ...................................................... WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE . IM CLEARLY WASTING TIME YOURS AND MY OWN ... bye :)  read more
Both Mirai Nikki and Btooom!, have the survival game aspect in them. Both also give the players in the death game, powers. In Mirai Nikki, Future Diaries, and in Btooom!, bombs. Btooom! is slightly better than Mirai Nikki, in the fact that it has a slightly more tolerable main character, and is more of a mature anime. Plus, it doesn't have as many Plot Holes.
In both animies the main character and a girl have to fight in these survival games! While Btooom is on a deserted island, Mirai Nikki take places in a city. Both the main characters at first are reluctant to kill people, but realize they are going to have to, to survive.
Both animes revolve around a survival game. In Btooom! the characters are sent to an deserted island, but in Mirai Nikki the game takes place in everyday society. The participants are either armed with bombs (Btooom!) or a future diary (Mirai Nikki). Apart from the story, these two shows have somewhat similar main characters. There's a boy and a girl, suffering from some kind of social phobia and/or mental disorder.
Btooom! is basically a survival/romance genre, a survival game, but with bombs, and there is romance that develops between the male and female lead characters. I found it really intresting, why don't you give it a try.
Both anime are survival "games" where many people have to kill each other until the last survivor be the winner.
In both anime the 2 main charachters are in the group of last survivors and are in love each other.
Mirai Nikki is more violent and emotional.
BTOOM! is more about a game and much more simple to understand.
Mirai Nikki and Btooom and set off in a world where people must kill each other in order to survive. The protagonists were forced into a life or death game where they were given a weapon for a chance to live. In Mirai Nikki, characters have a diary on their cell phone that predicts the future. In Btooom, they were given different types of bombs. Along the way of their journey, they will meet an ally and/or allies which add a bit of romance to the story. The mean difference I would say it’s the place where it takes in. Mirai Nikki is in Tokyo and Btooom is on a deserted island. read more
Btooom! and Mirai Nikki are similar. Both were forced into a death game and only allows one winner. Another similarity is at the last episode of both shows they male and the female protagonists kiss each other. Now the things that aren't the same is Mirai Nikki uses cell phones as a guide to kill the other players but Btooom! Uses a gem to tell when an enemy is near by. Another difference is Btooom! only uses bombs to kill the other players and Mirai Nikki uses any weapon. And the Btooom's ending wasn't bad and wasn't that good but still better than Mirai Nikki's ending. And to see the full ending of Mirai Nikki you have to watch the OVA called Mirai Nikki: Redial read more
Both have a simillar plot, in btooom the main character is forced to play a survial game, like survival of the fittest.
They both have a boy, and a girl that are together and end up loving each other.
Diffrences: In Mirai Nikki the winnner gets a reward, but in Btooom the winners only get to live, so it wouldn't really be called a reward.
These are both 2 similar and bloody animes.
They both share a battle royal theme where you have to kill people to escape.
I can guarantee you that if you liked BTOOM or Future Diary you will enjoy both of them.
Both of these Anime deal with notes that fortell things. On one side, you have a strong male lead who writes the death futures, on the other side, you have a weak male lead who sees his own future predicted and his possible death.
They both involve common items that give incredible godly power, lots of death and violence, and a hot chick that hangs around the main character (who ignores them/uses them as a pawn). The real difference is that Yuno (in mirai nikki) is like a lvl 13 yandere, while Misa is like a lvl 3 annoying emo supermodel.
Two supernatural animes that feature:
- Loner teen boy who comes across as a snob to others holding the fate of others in his hands
- His 'diary' is something supernatural and he dare not lose it
- Blind loyal fangirls also feature in both
- Deceitful gods
Mirai Nikki = Death Note with a middle schooler. There's something about the feel of the two shows that's the same, as well as the animation of the OP (first here to second in DN). Yuno is like a badass yandere Misamisa, and Yuki doesn't (so far?) have Light's... questionable morals. Like... he tried to 'use' Yuno, but that kind of failed. =3=; And there's police, and 'diary that predicts the future' is eerily similar to 'notebook that causes the future death of people'.
both have serial murders .
both have loner main character.
both have god / death gods.
both have woman obsessed with main character .
both have main character using the woman .
both have“text-tool” used to kill or murder.
both have few characters who are only visible to a few .
both the main characters are bored with the world .
both main character go to school.
both have some sort of diary and has power to predict the future/kill.
both have many genre in common Mystery, Supernatural, Psychological, Thriller.
both have detectives , police and serial murders .
both anime have the power to kill and to change the world.
both the main characters are bored with the world and they are drawn to interesting game or world. read more
Mirai Nikki and Death Note share some similarities with their supernatural elements. In both series, there is a god who makes the rules for the participants. Moreover, both series involve diaries that have to do with fate. Death Note is more on the strategic side while Mirai Nikki is more on the psychological side. Both are recommended for people who enjoy thrillers.
Mirai nikki, death note, mirai nikki, death note. Characters in both animes have close "perimeters" with death, deals with death, and include notes that literally have the supernatural powers to prognosticate death.
They're similar in regards to the entire 'NoteBook of Death/Crappy Blackberry Of Death' figure. However, the storyline, plotholes, suspense .. I can't begin to explain the details of such a revolutionary anime. Broke my #1 instantly!
they both focus on the cat and mouse game, the one who finds out the others identety dies. They both have great stradigy and tactics. antoher thing thats simular is that it's both really suspence, you know that addiction of needing to know whats going to happen next.
Both animes are psychological thrillers that involve some supernatural item and have several plot twists and insane characters. Mirai Nikki is more action oriented while Death Note is more of strategy than fighting.
Both series are horror/mystery, both have objects that let them change the future.Death Notes strong main charcther does everything on his own to survive while in Mirai Nikkis weak main charcther has to rely on other people to survive.
Death Note asks the question 'What would you do if you were given free license to kill by simply writing your desire in a notebook?'
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) asks the question 'What would you do if a god gave you (and others) powers of foresight and promised that the last one standing would take over his place as god?'
Both shows have a competition among people granted supernatural powers who must use their wits if they want to survive. They also provide a dark plot with a few twists and pose philosophical questions about the justifications of murder for a noble goal. The main characters find themselves taking advantage of crazy and obsessed girlfriends. The primary, but notable difference between the two is the vast difference in the protagonists. Light is outgoing, brilliant, and set on molding a new world with the blood of criminals. Yuki is shy, at first glance is rather unremarkable, and spends most of his time trying in vain to avoid danger. They are indeed nothing alike. It is Yuki's obsessive sidekick Yuno who more closely resembles Light in deeds, wits, and sheer bravado. read more
Both anime follow really intuitive plot lines, with constant twists. They are both excellent interesting drama's to the very end. Aside from that they have few similarities, but if you like one you WILL like the other.
Mirai Nikki is a little Death Note, hasn't got the power of the characters of Death Note, but have a very original story with mistery and drama, with similar things.
Also Mirai Nikki is one of the most underrated anime
- Both anime have some kind of "God" in the play.
- The main characters evade death and kill other characters without hesitation, but use their wits to do that.
- Both have an overly attached girlfriend in them.
- In both anime you can find a device that is helping the main character (in Mirai Nikki it helps the side characters as well), but the thing is that those devices have flaws which the opponents have to discover in order to win or outsmart the main character or the other characters.
- The theme is a survival game in both anime, even if it's not that present in Death Note, but still there nonetheless, or better said, win at all costs game. read more
The basic idea is similar, but the storyline is different in every way (almost).
The recommendation is more like "what should i watch next?". Both are masterpieces and the stories are really unique.
The charactters hook you up and dont let you get away. Once u start watching it, there is no way u wont be thinking it the next day at work!
The big difference between those 2 in general is that Mirai Nikki has romance in it, and Death Note, well not even close to romance...
And another difference is that in Mirai Nikki you are living it.. In Death Note u are like an observer of the story and after the the 1st half of the anime u are living it too read more
Both series involve diaries, except there are major differences in how things are played out. Instead of the main character being strong and playing god, as seen in "Death Note's" Light, "Future Diary's" Yukiteru Amano is battling to BE god, or rather, survive the attacks from others trying to beat him to it.
The parallels between the two are strikingly clear, although both series take off in different directions. One harnesses the power of death, while the other makes its plays by attempting to avoid it.
Both anime are kinda "self insert" but truly epic. Both have male main character with supernatural powers that are used to become god. They also have heavy story progression with practically no fillers and a lot of cliff hangers between episodes. Also they are both relatively dark and feature heavy character progression.
Honestly if you haven't seen both I'd recommend to watch them asap.
-both has a God involved, giving the Male Lead powers to change their destiny.
-both has a Female Lead with same powers but uses it to help the Male Lead achieve their goals.
-both has a good detective trying to work out a solution to the problems at hand.
-Death Note keeps the murders (gore stuff) a little bit controlled and has less sexual intimacy around.
-Mirai Nikki has more of the murderous stuff (gore) and has a more sexual intimacy around.
These anime have so much difference and probably shouldn't be compared. However there is a few similarities - psycho guys and a thing in which you write :D... If you looking for a anime with psycho there you are. However these psychoes are different. Death note character takes all thinking and strategising on his own while in Mirai nikki yuki thinks and yuno usually acts. These things they use are similar but alsow different. Yagami uses death note to kill, yuki uses his phone to predict his rivals movements. So basically that's it. Start watching :)
It is quite violent and there is a way that the diaries and Death Notes kind of tie in together. The diary gets shot and the holder dies. Whereas the Death Note holders life is lengthened by the note. So it kind of has some similarities if you really dig deep but it's hard to explain how with out spoiling it.
Both Death Note and Mirai Nikki start off with the main character recieving a tool of potential mass destruction from a godlike existence. Even though the main characters are polar oposites in terms of personality, they both face similar challenges in which they have to use their tool to defeat -- in most instances, kill -- the many rivals they face throughout the series. There is a similar degree of mystery and suspense in both series; they blurr the lines between friend or foe, good or evil, and you never know when the enemy is going to strike next.
Both have amazing plot twist
Both have WTF l did not see that coming endings
Both deal with the whole kill others to save the world thing
Both have a psychopathic main character and theme
Both have gods
Both are binge watchable
BOTH ARE A MUST WATCH ANIME SERIES THAT YOU WILL LOVE
The series are psychological thrillers that keep you at the edge of your seat. Both the protagonists are given a supernatural power and aim to become a god while trying to eliminate anyone who stands in their way.
It's a series that keeps you guessing. The characters are dark but feels real. It has a good start, a little slow in the middle but finishes well. If you like the mind game aspect of Death Note, I think you'll love this one as well, even though its not as famous.
Both of them are dark stories. Death Note has notes to kill while Mirai Nikki has notes to survive to stay alive or be killed. Both of them has a god to serve. In Death Note, the god is a companion while Mira Nikki the hod is a watcher to different people who are participating the game. In Death Note, the concept is a criminal chase while Mirai Nikki is a survival game.
Both animes center around the idea of objects with superpowers. In both animes, main characters try to outsmart their opponents to survive. Every episode in Mirai Nikki was exciting, full of suspense. The bit of romance in both animes were also a bit similar. I recommend you watch Mirai Nikki if you enjoyed Death Note.
Death note has a death note, Mirai Nikki has a future diary! Once the future diary is destroyed, you are dead. It also contains mind games and plot twists and keeps you in suspense just like Death Note
Both series will have you cheering on morally ambiguous or even psychopathic protagonists in violent confrontations. There's a bit of (usually dark) humour and exploring relationships between characters, including romantic subplots. Also, pink hair.
Lucy & Yuno (similarities: pink hair, psycho, past, family circumstances, love for main character, jealousy etc.)
Kohta & Yukiteru (same innocent character, relationship with main girl, lost memories, suffering)
similarities in general: a lot of blood, murders, unpredictable, psychological etc.
-Both girl in the anime have split personality / one side good, one side bad
-Both girl in the anime have pink hair
-Both girl in the anime have been through a tough time in their past
-Both girl in the anime have a guy they love and want to protect with their life
-Both anime are very dark, exciting, and keeps you hooked on the first episode compared to the other ones
-Both anime has a lot of blood
-Not a clitche.
Both Elfen lied and Mirrai nikki pull you along into the depths of the anti-heroes spiralling insanity as you watch their encounters with other estranged or morally imbalanced characters. Elfen Lied has a large focus on uncensored gore whilst Mirai Nikki does not, But it is only to add to the story of each anime to add emphasis on the characters moral actions in each story.
Elfen lied leaves you at a cliff hanger at twelve episodes and could use another season to finish it off (They should have waited for the manga to finish first). Mirrai Nikki is a twenty six episode series with an ending that could look both sad or good depending on how you look at it (there will be an OVA). The protagonist in Mirrai Nikki may get on your nerves either really quickly or later on just by the way he handles his situation. read more
Personally, I find Gasai Yuno and Lucy / Nyuu to pretty similar. They both have their innocent and fragile sides, but then they also have their mass-murder psychotic sides. Both animes are good for showing the development of the characters and their 'bi-polar' personalities.
Drip...drip...drip.. Ahhh, the sound of blood pattering on the floor from your hands. Your heart hammering in your chest just to see what will happen next as you start to cackle. Your eyes widen as you realize the one you love doesn't love you back. You'll KILL just to protect them! Mirai Nikki won't leave you crying on your hands and knees, but you surely won't be disappointed. You can call these animes similar, with two completely different plots. You'll be tearing at your skin to watch the next episode! Just don't forget to... breathe...
these series both have a very macabre tone and setting. Rampant violence is frequent, and disturbing sexual content is present at times. If you enjoyed Mirai Nikki's exploration into human nature, and especially the mystery of each character's pasts, Elfen Lied is undoubtably up your alley.
I think that two main characters are alike. They both love one person and are ready to do everything to protect their loved one (even kill dozens of people), and they are cruel to the outside world. Also, the girls' appearances are similar.
If you want a mature show with serious gore and shocking events these shows are for you. They both have frustrating protagonists but a great supporting cast. These shows are extremely brutal, viewer discretion is advised.
Elfen Lied and Mirai Nikki let you think about life. Because of the things the characters went trough, or the ending (especially the ending of Mirai Nikki) They're both bloody and you have to understand EVERY single thing that happens before you can truly understand the series. Also they have both kind of 'dramatical' endings cause you don't know what happened after.
I recommend Elfen Lied and Mirai Nikki to people who love bloody animes with a good storyline in it.
Horror type, have a pink hair main girl that are a murder, have a helpless boy, have a beautiful art and there tell about a type of love.
there is a main girl with four invisible hands that it like killing machines, there is a boy who in very friendly with girls, the story is very good and there is a little of Harem.
It tells about twelve peoples fighting to be the god of a world, the main girl is a crazy murder of ~16 years,I really like this anime because...discover yourselves this anime.
And in my opinion both need to be 9/10
-Psychotic lead female characters/split personality
-Dark character pasts
The general plots are similar and both are thrilling to watch. If you liked one, you should like the other.
If you liked Mirai Nikki you will probably like Elfen Lied. Both have great story lines get at times are gory. They are both two of my personal favourite anime's although not appropriate for younger ages.
Both have bloodshed (a lot), Mirai Nikki has it's share of brief nudity. Both have a character that would be listed as a Yandere..Most importantly Mirai Nikki and Elfen Lied include a character that is a crazy murderer.
These shows both take part in the almost "infamous" yandere genre where a beautiful pink haired chick obsessively falls for our poor, pathetic, naive main character. Both girls were horrifically abused as children and are violent killers, and have personality disorders (must I say more?), etc.
If you get off with murder, or rape, decapitation, gore, cruelty, abuse, and other twisted unspeakable, you'll definitely love both then.
Both of the shows are yandere concept
and both of them have pretty amazing plot
both of them are totally messing with your
sexuallity and you cant understand a thing
both of them are making you hate certain character
and the next scene can make you love her again
until you understand you must hate her
but then she is SUGOI KAWAII and you must love that shit
after all both of the shows are huge mainstreams
and both of them are amazing and a must watch
I would not say that the two shows are similar in terms of the story and plot, but I am writing this recommendation just suggesting the similarities between the two and why I recommend them.
- Both have an ultra dark and depressing feel to them
- Both of them have psychopaths and are really "gore-y".
- The girl MCs both have pink hair (Valid point for recommendation!)
- Both involve a little bit of romance.
These two anime keep you at the edge of your seat as you watch the main character meet a pink haired girl who might be more dangerous than her appearance suggests. Both series also have a lot of action and gore. If you enjoy watching psychological anime that have characters with twisted backstories you should like both of them.
Both deal with psychological and mentally insane peaple who wants senpai to notice them. there both very brilliant story's with great plot. if you love psychological horror, then you will love both of these.
These two shows are similar because of their gore and dark themes, as well as romance and the yandere trope, specifically in Mirai Nikki. There is some nudity too, especially in Elfen Lied. There are good plot twists as well, and interesting casts in both.
If you enjoyed one of them, you are quite likely going to enjoy the other as well.
Similar story taste and style, Elfen Lied contains slightly more gore but not in a bad way. Will help with cravings for murderous pink-haired girls and foolish male protagonists/love interests. Less focus on romance but more on family-related emotions.
Those mysterious pink-haired girls share secrets beyond belief and have a truly fucked up past. They are goddesses. They are weapons. The sadness from the end of both animes can give a pretty disastrous case of Post-Anime Syndrome.
Shows are both seinen meaning they are intended for a slightly older audience (roughly 17-25 years if I'm not mistaken). In addition to the fact that they both have a darker and more gritty atmosphere, complete with heavy gore, they both have heavy moral dilemmas and intense psychological aspects.
These series have much in common, first of all it's gender.
In both series the plot is about a survival game, where the protagonist have to do everything to survive, including killing other people.
The both Main Characters are ordinary boys, and suddenly got their life changed making them shocked about what is going on.
They also have "crazy" girls that have crush for them.
Both series have many participants on the game, even the design and the characteristcs of these participants are similar
The persons that control both games are "unknown" creatures, envolving a mistery about what will happen later on.
An ordinary boy one day certainly finds his life changed forever. That sets off the premise of this series as they as they are involved in a deadly game/test. Among other things, they meet other characters who are involved. All of them seems to possesses unique skills that defines their styles. They also meet a female character who seems to have an interest in him.
Among other factors, there is a sense of mystery regarding the master/god of both series and what they want. There is a theme of game/survival involved in which the characters are tasked with killing others.
Similar themes of Mystery, Action, Psychological and a bit of a Thriller. A battle royale where a select number of people have to kill each other (kill or be killed) in order to "win". In both Anime's, the main character is a teenage male who teams up with another character in order to survive.
•both are about a group of people who have to fight for their own survival to win there freedom, otherwise its a deadend/gameover for them.
•both are a battle royale where there is only 1 victor
•both have the same type of genres...mystery,action, psychological
•both show the the characters mental state as they develop new feelings/situations/friends as the story progresses and how they react to situations where the human instinct to survive comes into 'play'
•they are both the battle royale type of anime, so if youll like one you will probably like the other.
In both anime series there is a some-what normal teenage boy who is thrown into a survival game. The only way to escape is to either kill the other players or to die. In both Mirrai Nikki and Danganronpa the main character teams up with the most popular girl, and they try to survive the death game together.
In both of the anime the plot is about a game where the main character have to survive and the only way to win the game is by killing the other players. While In Danganronpa they have to kill each other without getting caught.
In both of the animes the main characters suddenly gets himself in a game which they didn't want. Also in both animes the main character are ordinary people and forced into a game they didn't want to be in.
In both animes the host of the games are unknown beings which you learn later in the anime.
Both anime focus on the theme of survival and both involve moderate amounts of blood and death, however Mirai Nikki is a lot more graphic and "realistic" if you like in the way it goes about presenting the death of the characters. They both have a mystery aspect to them, DR focusing more on this than the actual murdering, and both have a group of people who are unwilling to kill in order to survive against a group who are willing to kill in order to survive.
A survival game where you proceed forward by killing the other players.
Mirai Nikki - The game is controlled by God and the winner gets his title. The players are free to roam the world or area to look for other players and defeat them. Also has an interesting romance to it that is rewarding in the end if you watch the OVA. =)
Danganronpa - The game is controlled by a damn psychopathic teddy bear. His motives are yet to be reveled at least in the anime, not sure about the game. The setting is an elite school from which they cant escape.
Dark, sad and thrilling to watch. Go ahead, you wont regret it.! =)  read more
They both have a story that is a battle royale style, being that they are both like kill or be killed.
Both main protaganists are represented as innocent through out the story.
Both also have a sense of mystery, Mirai Nikki being that its the mystery of other peoples future diaries and Danganronpa being that its the mystery's of murders etc.
Both share the themes of psychological and horror.
- both anime involve a calm boy main character who trying to survive againts people who try to kill each other in order to achieve something .
in mirai nikkie they need to know who is the person they need to kill , in dangnronpa they need to know which one commit the murder.
- in both anime the responsible for their situation have some kind of court to discuss things.
- both male MC have a girl by their side.
They both have the characters play a game - one where the characters must try and kill each other in order to survive.
Although Mirai Nikki does take this theme to a more public level, both of them have most of the characters as just ordinary students who's life has completely changed ever since the 'game' has started.
Some will die, and some will survive - or, maybe none at all. Watch the TV show to find out.
Both of these Anime have the concept of 'kill or be killed' and the the last person standing wins. They both involve killing other characters whether they liked it or not.
In Mirai Nikki each person had to keep their identity hidden in order to stay alive without the fear of death. In Danganronpa the person who committed a murder had to make sure no one found out it was them... also in order to stay alive.
Both are pretty bloody, although the blood in Danganronpa is less realistic.
In booth animes, the characters will forced to play a game of killing one another in order to achieve a goal, with a nice and huge plot you will definitely choose a favorite one and support him, the story is very good and worth it to watch with no doubts
Murder is the game. Survival is the goal. But wait, there can only be one winner?!
In both shows, a large handful of characters are forced into playing a sick and twisted game of "last man standing wins." Both character sets are very diverse and unique, making for two great casts. Of course the main character is a more noble young lad who doesn't want to have to kill anyone, yet is desperate to stay alive. Is there anyone he can trust?!
The biggest mystery is who is actually controlling the game?
Both anime have a group of people locked in a kill or be killed survival game, but while Mirai Nikki focuses more on the relationship between the two main characters, Dangnronpa focuses more on the mystery behind each killing. Both anime involve school-aged protagonists and crazy psychos.
Both are a type of survival game where each individual has his or her unique "ability". They are set on to killing each other for a higher purpose, in this case to leave a school. There isn't much ecchi as merai nikki but the plot has same feel. Over all the animation is done great!
There are similarities between these two anime series. Diary owners are stuck in a world where you have to kill other future diary owners to become the one 'God' in Mirai Nikki. In Danganronpa, a small select amount of students are trapped in a school and the only way out is to murder your classmates. They both involve killing people for higher gain or for personal satisfaction and the motivation given to the characters make both shows interesting where we have people teaming up and lack of trust of the people surrounding you as anyone can kill each other and the lack of trust gives the show interest and 'binge watching' capability. read more
'Mirai Nikki' and 'Danganronpa' both have similar themes of survival of the fittest. While the characters of Danganronpa are trapped inside a school, characters of Mirai Nikki are trapped playing a game to become a god which results in killing, like Danganronpa. Both anime have a certain goal of surpassing victory in either becoming god or leaving the school in one piece. I do recommend Danganronpa if you like suspense/mystery/death. I do also recommend watching the anime first before checking out the three games.
Both anime are about survival games where the contestants/students have to kill each other to achieve a specific goal.
Mirai Nikki: Becoming God
Danganronpa: Graduation/Leaving The School
The main difference is that in Danganronpa after someone dies they hold a class trial where they have to identify who the killer was or everyone but the killer will be executed
both anime also have unique characters that make the shows so much better
To be honest I'm not sure if I'm recommending this for the game or the anime. Dangan Ronpa is also an anime about a killing game where the last man standing gets a reward of some kind, however DR doesn't really have any handicaps like cellphones with future-telling abilities or anything along those lines.
Dangan Ronpa is a 'who-dunnit' anime but still shares that 'kill or be killed' feeling akin to Mirai Nikki. DR also has a strong focus on the characters and their motivation to kill/what gives the motivation to kill.
Both are survival games planned out by an evil mastermind and both include a vulnerable teenage boy as a main character, except Naegi is a good at making points at the trials and a lot of times saves the lives of the contestants in the game, while Yuki just relied on Yuno, killed some people, for protection most of the game.
-Both are killing games focused on a moderately sized cast of characters
-The main characters are both ordinary boys that are at a loss for how to react to this otherworldly situation (less so in Makoto)
-In both, murders and plots to kill others are outrageously unrealistic
-Both involve huge plot twists toward the end that completely change the story's direction
-Both anime tell about a group of people that try to kill other people in that group in order to complete the goals (just like Hunger Games).
-Both anime contain many gore scenes.
-Both anime have the sama genre, especially action, mystery & psychological.
-Both main character have no idea what's going on in the beginning and very weak, but they grow stronger and became the most important protagonist as the story goes.
Although under completely different circumstances, they both deal with having to make rash decisions immediately and suffer the consequences of those.
Whether it be voting incorrectly, or moving incorrectly; they are both irreversible. And they both end in a DEAD END.
If you enjoyed Mirai Nikki, you would probably enjoy Danganronpa. Danganronpa has all of the action, suspense, and excitement that Mirai Nikki has. However, it also has the added element of mystery. It's an excellent anime that is brief but endlessly entertaining. I highly recommend Danganronpa.
Beware the seemingly innocent children -- when push comes to shove, they can be the scariest. Both series explore the increasingly horrific circumstances that come to pass when desperation leads to sanity slippage and an ever-increasing body count. Sometimes the most important thing is knowing who to trust, but even that's not foolproof.
Just because you're cute doesn't mean you can't creep someone out, as both these anime can show that being silly is only part of their plan, catching you off guard with a knife wielding character among other disturbing things laying in wait is what these anime have in store.
Both of them have a teenager (who suddenly finds himself in a situation with lots of blood and mystery) as a main character. Also, there are really strange cute characters with multiple personalities and a character of an older guy who helps the main chracter to solve the mystery.
Both have lots of gore with scary moments. Both series have a cute girl that chases the main character around, use the wide-eyed look for creepy characters and use disgusting splats for blood shedding scenes. Also, Both the main characters in Higurashi and Mirai Nikki have one objective-- to stay alive.
Interested in bloody animes with a complicated non-linear timeline? Or maybe you like cute kids doing not so cute kiddy things such as killing each other. Both Mirai Nikki and Higurashi have that 'creepy girl' and that sort-of useless male protagonist, with the 'Supernatural' parts in it as well.
Both are high caliber psychological thrillers. While Mirai Nikki has one character who can snap at any moment, this is true for the entire cast of Higurashi. If you love that atmosphere of never knowing when someone is going to snap and never knowing what horror is about to happen, then I'd recommend both of these shows to you (I'd recommend them to anyone, but especially to you).
Both contain intense psychological and character development as well as everyone's favorite: a yandere. :)
There are thrilling aspects as well as heart-wrenching, and I found both of them to be excellent by my standards.
If you liked the "feel" of Mirai Nikki, you'll probably also enjoy Higurashi. (Especially the first arc)
Both are exciting thriller shows with some supernatural elements, with things that are, perhaps, not as they seem.
Psycho relationships with the male main character of the show, showing a good example of yanderes.
Thrillers with weird storylines and very violent scenarios.
And pretty moe artstyles.
Mirai Nikki isn't really a "harem".
Higurashi hasn't a Hunger Games like plot.
If you like horror anime, you're at the right reccomendation. The two of these shows are dark, funny at times, and really mind boggling.
If you like yandere characters and a lot of violence, you're in for a treat.
Both are first and foremost fairly gory thrillers featuring a multitude of mentally unstable characters. Higurashi's resident yandere was the face of the archetype until Mirai Nikki's Gasai Yuno usurped that position. While Higurashi is slower pace-wise than Mirai Nikki, they end up giving similar vibes, as they have many plot similarities and handle their mysteries in a similar fashion (the sort of mysteries the studios didn't want you to think all that much about because the way these anime are adapted leaves a number of inconsistencies & holes in the plot, though this is much more easily apparent in Mirai Nikki).
Both contain yandere characters. Both have gore. Most importantly both are a disservice to their respective source material. Did you know that Keiichi from Higurashi regularly cross-dresses? No? You wouldn't know that from watching the anime because they try to cram 10 hours of visual novel into 2 hour segments by cutting out most of the plot; it's like the cliff-notes of anime. Meanwhile Mirai Nikki doesn't feel too rushed, but it totally changes the mood of the manga; all of creepy things Yuno does are played off as fanservice. In summary, read the VN before watching Higurashi, but if you liked Mirai Nikki, you're going to love Higurashi regardless. read more
Both anime narrate a deaths sequel, one is more like a game that the one who lives will be the new God, and the other is a school tragedy, that the peaple will stop dieying just when they found out the 'ghost roomate'. Blood and drama, characters with tragic stories, despair, two very popular anime from the same year.
It must be acknowledged that both Another and Mirai Nikki are similar in more ways than one can imagine. Coincidentally, both Another and Mirai Nikki are of the fantasy genre as well as the horror genre. The fact these anime's share both of my favourite genre's is enough to lead me in, but there's more. Also, both of these anime's have the same themes present within them. These themes consist of death and teenagers. These themes continue throughout every episode. Both are very dark and have similar characters. I shall explain further. Mirai Nikki's main central focus is around a girl. This is also subsequent of the anime, Another. They both also have the sub-protagonist of a male in both anime's. The male in both anime's also helps further the plot, by being the female's goal. Both anime's also have exquisite art. I would highly recommend this anime if you liked and loved Another, and vise versa. read more
•Both have a guy and a girl pairing focused on as the main characters
•both have supporting characters dieing/murdered around them as the anime progresses
•both question the existence of humanity, if one wants to survive in this game/curse, they have to do what ever it takes to win/solve to keep themselves from dieing.
•both have horror in it, that is cringe worthy, and the mystery is more exposed in Another, but mirai nikki is questionable.
•they are similar in the mystery deaths/murders/killings and those who love to watch people die
Both are well made shows involving mass death and killing. The two also both involve a female lead who is nice, but seems a little too willing to kill people when necessary. It also involves a death of many main and supporting characters, as well as each of those characters killing each other. The relationship between the two main characters is similar, where the boy likes the girl and knows she's misunderstood, and she likes him, but there's a hint of distrust.
Both series are very dark and based on horror. The main character in both series is boy who comes in contact with a certain girl that changes his life (and that of everybody else) completely. The element of mystery that suround the story in both series makes in one hell of a ride that will have you marathoning episode after episode in order to know what happens next. If you like gore and situations where people have to fight for their lives, these series are perfect for you.
Mirrai Nikki and Another is similar in the sense that it is all mystery, thriller, and somewhat school-relatred. They both contain death of many people related to the game(Mirrai Nikki) and the curse(Another).
If you enjoy horror I would recommend Mirai Nikki
These series are known to have dark atmospheres, suspense, and horror. As the main characters (usually a boy and a girl) progress, they mostly survive these obstacles, but several other characters either, become missing or get killed off in the end. If you are a big fan of horror and suspense, then these two will fit your time.
Mirai Nikki is based on competition and is mostly action where the characters use a phone as their weapon. Another is based on a mysterious girl gallivanting around the school with a strange horror phenomenal around them.
They're both about a killing game - Mirai Nikki is survival-oriented but Another is deaths at random. There's a fair bit of gore in both of them, and they both have psychological thriller elements. Music is also similar.
Both Mirai Nikki and Another are based on a group of people being picked off one by one, the whole event caused by a supernatural force. They're both complex and tricky to follow at times, and have some real gory deaths.
-Both about high school students
-Both focus on death
-Sad character pasts
-Great character development
Both anime focus on a relationship between a main male character and a main female character, but Mirai Nikki is more of a one-sided relationship, whereas Another isn't. I found myself hooked on both.
Both consist of weak plots which easily fall apart just by the main characters asking questions, they'll have you trying to wrap your head around how characters could be so stupid. Both feel like everything happening is contrived nonsense. But they both made me laugh, I don't know if it was on purpose or not but whatever.
- Blood and gore.
- Lots of plot twists to keep the story flowing and yet interesting.
Mirai Nikki focuses on a "survival game", while Another depicts high schoolers trying to figure out what is killing people in their school.
I absolutely love both of these series. Both are the type that make involve great and amazing plot twists and action that will keep you on your toes. I love how everything ties together, and almost nothing isn't important. Absolutely recommend both!
Both series have to do with messages on cell phones. In S;G they send messages to the past as a way to 'time travel' while in MN!, a person's fate is written as a diary. Both animes are excellent psychological thrillers.
Cell phones, thriller, drama, and epic action scenes. What else could we ask for more in both of these incredible anime(s)? Both Mirai Nikki and Steins;Gate also incorporates the usage of cell phones although for different purposes. Additionally, there is romance in both series as well as comedy and emotional drama. As the series continues for both anime, we also see various plot twists and cliffhangers that leaves the audience asking "what's next"?
Both animes are related withe the time and situations that must be handled according to time rules, the main characters become sort of "time lord". Nevertheless Steins; Gate has a cientific approach while Mirai Nikki get a supernatural like.
Both series have something to do with the future and time travelling. The main character goes to so much trouble he never asked for that you will start to feel sorry for him. The emotions in these series are see deep that you just cannot do otherwise than feel along with the characters. I am really sure that you will enjoy them both.
Both share an impossible romance, hard to endure emotional moments, similar time and space theories, character development and backstory, lots of plot twists, awesome music soundtrack and seiyus (voiceovers). In both case, you end up marathoning the whole thing in a day or two =)
Both animes deal with how the future can be changed through certain actions, the difference is that Steins;Gate is closer to reality, including elements that exist such as "SERN" and "IBN" (that would be the "CERN "and" IBM ") and characters using time machines, since the Mirai Nikki is a game where you can not return to the past but to predict the future, but it is a game of survival and all holders of" Mirai Nikki "have to kill the other carriers.
They both use cellular devices to depicts the future or time travel in steins gate case, they both have very strong plots that make sense for something like time travel being involved, the differences is that Mirai nikki is sooo much more violent I would not recommend it to people who dislike gore.
Both series has a complicated story that involve world line, which make interesting to watch if you like complicated story. really had a brilliant story and confusing if you don't watch it until the last episode.
Both are somehow about survival, but Steins;Gate is more about trying to get everyone alive, Mirrai Nikki is about being the last man standing. Both have sophisticated bonds between characters and unexpected moments. Both involve using mobile phones to something irregular.
-Both protagonists use their cellphones to change the future
-Both protagonists try to change the outcome of a future event to protect their loved ones
-Both include a female and male lead that try to interfere with "fate"
-Both have a complicated plot which plays with your mind
*P/S: Keep in mind that Mirai Nikki is a lot more twisted if you like that aspect.
These animes has one very similar aspect, but with one big difference.
In mirai nikki you know your future, in steins gate you know your past. They know how to change their future in mirai nikki and they know how to change their past in steins gate. But what they both do not know is what will happen if they change it. Even the fact if you make it worse or better is never clear. Of course you can always think that it cannot get any badder.
The other fact is that they know their past and future immediately after that. So they can change it once more.
The big difference is of course future and past in this theorie. Other difference are that steins gate has a more complicated plot and mirai nikki has yuno with all the battles accompanied with all the blood :). read more
Mirai Nikki and Steins;Gate both deal with changing the future, and past. Although one is more action orientated, and one is more scientific. Both contain amazing revelations and keep you on the edge of your seat. Mirai Nikki is more heart pounding and supernatural, but Steins;Gate is more intellectual. Both are deep and most importantly, these shows have AMAZING character development. We can feel their tremendous growth, their motives, and their ambitions. Tearjerker, heartwarming, and immersive, if you've seen one and want an anime that makes you think just as deep, check the other out.
Both series deal with the concept of using "time" to your advantage. While Steins;Gate is about changing the past, Mirai Nikki is about changing the future. Both stories are dark albeit Mirai Nikki pretty much starts out that way while Steins;Gate had a long buildup towards it. Both series have interesting characters and you'll enjoy learning more as the stories progress.
Anything and everything can change something especially since both use cellphones to alter the future and outcomes of different events of course mirai nikki has a lot more gore and in my opinion Steins;Gate is better but they have similar base plots.
- Both trying to change the fate or the outcome of different situations
- Both have a very harsh psychological aspect
- Both Protagonist have the ability to peer into the future.
- One is more realistic doing this scientifically while the other is more of a horror game
- The female protagonist, one is Yandere one is Tsundere.
They both include the concept of time. However they do it in different ways. Steins;Gate uses time travel while Mirai Nikki uses the concept of predicting the future using diaries. In Steins;Gate, you can also somewhat figure out the future if you travel back in time. They both execute these ideas perfectly, in different ways and they both work.
Changing the future plays a large part in both series. Both the protagonists discover the ability to alter the future and use that power to try and change it to their liking. If you enjoy thrillers that keep you at the edge of your seat you might like both the series.
Similarity: Just as Mirai Nikki literally translates to "Future Diary," Steins;Gate is also all about altering the future with information that is known beforehand—and both anime alter the debacles of time through the use of particular phones! Now, what could be more thrilling and exciting than that! I mean, both anime are highly fascinating, not because the future is no longer a secret in both, but because these two shows are captivating in their own right. Suspense, thrills, action, and twists—there’s plenty more where that came from, and you’ll find quite a lot in Steins;Gate.
Both animes are about receiving or meeting a third party to supply you with powers to fight in a survival game, and aim to defeat the other parties to win the game.
Both have groups that build bonds over the time they spend together.
Both focus around a group of people fighting each other to obtain a God-like power. They both take place in modern day (more-or-less) and each character is given a special power to help them fight (Zero=Servants/Nikki=Diaries).
Fate/Zero is basically a prettier and way less convoluted version of Future Diary.
Both anime have a kind of competition of survival and domination. If they win, they'll get something that can change their life and the world..
The characters are given something special to use for the whole competition.. They might die in the competition too..
Both anime have genre of action, drama, fantasy, and good plot twist and character development..
I score both anime 10 (masterpiece)
Like survival? Like action? Like good OST and art? Then, both these series may spark some interest as they share the collected theme of capturing a reward upon winning a battle-royale between other characters. Both series has spectacular soundtrack as well.
•both animes are more or less just a bunch of people thrown/expected it to happen, into a game where they will have to battle others until there is 1 winner to obtain enormous power.
•both are different in the way they do battle, as in one the actual person/diary has to die, but the other there 'avatar' has to die, to make them lose and not be in the running to be the victor.
•both contain fair amounts of great action which motivates the viewer for a particular person to win, and a slight somewhat of romance, to also add a bit of humour.
•both animes are different in the way how they act out how to kill others aswell, with MN its dark/malicious/brutally murdering the intended party with mind games and backstabbing with lots of twists throughout the whole show, while F/Z is mainly just action and quick alliances, but it does have its fair share of dark/murdering/evil/malicious bits here and there.
•they are fairly similar in the 'battle royale'/'hunger games' sense that there is only 1 victor. but if you liked one you will possibily like the other.
>Both anime have a "battle royale" background, if you live, you win a great power, in the other hand if you die, you lose.
>Both have a lot of action, even if they are different in that, Mirai Nikki have a more realistic style (guns, knives etc), Fate/Zero fights are between GDR role (Saber, Archer, Caster, Lancer etc).
>I really enjoyed both anime, hope you will have the same fun if you decide to try them ;)
Both involve a survival game between a group of people aided by a supernatural power in order to win a near omnipotent power. They both feature a large variety of "players" with different motives to win. They both have fantastic, but very different soundtracks.
Both series involve characters fighting each other in a survival game and they must fight each other in order to win whether they defeat or even kill each other.
Both series can be very dark at times with characters facing difficult situations such as loss and death.
Each of the characters in both series have motivations to win and utilize the prize from the victory of the competition. However, within Fate/Zero, there is more emphasis on all of the participants yet in Mirai Nikki, there is more emphasis on Yukiteru and Yuno.
There is action within both series, yet Fate/Zero is much more fluent while Mirai Nikki is more gruesome. read more
Both animes have similar plot. They focus about death match and strange people that are participating in it.
In the Mirai Nikki, characters are fighting to become a god, while in Fate/Zero they are fighting for Holy Grail, which can make any wish come true.
Both shows are about a big survival game. One must fight to survive and beat the other parties to win. They both use a third party which aid the main character. One show uses servants and the other simply uses a overly attached yandere. Over time the main groups grow bonds as they fight for survival.
Both encompass a battle royal scenario where people are competing for some grand mythical prize. Both carry mature themes, but the stories for both are interesting. If you liked one, you'll probably like the other.
Survival game, main character, and great actions.are main smiliar of both series.
-) Survival game here explains that a competition to be change the world.the characters are similiar-means too.if Fate zero contents Servants from heroic spirits to survival while Future diary contents Diary users who God gifts.they also make parties to defeat each their enemies.not only that, both series has strong MC.
-) these series most shows best actions.however, both have spesific genre.Fate zero based on Fantasy while Future diary most shows horror, drama, and psychological.
Although I personally wasn't a huge fan of Mirai Nikki, if you were into the battle royale that was Fate/Zero, you might enjoy Mirai Nikki's sometimes dark plot, with some interesting plot twists along the way.
They are shows with a battle royale setting, fighting to the death with the goal of having one lone winner granted with a seemingly omnipotent reward. The themes explored are of similar nature, a set of mature ones that involved the act of what is right or wrong. High tension and suspense are also similarities that both possessed when it comes to the battles.
If you take a serious look at both of them, you might discover that they are really alike. I first watched Mirai Nikki (when it was released) and two days ago I have also watched Guilty Crown; my first impression was: this is very similar to Mirai Nikki.
They are both Thriller /Action /Superpower animes with the necessary drop of romance, drama and fine graphics. They are similar in graphics, in action and interest. Also, the characters are at some point alike (if we are talking about the main characters : Shuu is similar to Yuki quite a lot, even though Inori is not completely alike with Yuno, you can clearly understand the similarities between them. Not only that they both have pink hair (which is in itself a cute detail), but their personalities are both distorted and they are dependent (at some point on another) on the main character, a guy who can easily freak around, but whom -in the end, or at the times that matter -fights bravely (both male main characters have nice personalities and outbreak scenes).
Rather similar type of protagonist, small similarity in the female protagonist as well.
Both end in sort of a bittersweet way, also I find the overall vibes sort of matching, so if you enjoy one you are likely to enjoy the other as well!
If you liked the dynamics between the two main characters in one show, you will most likely enjoy this part of the other one as well. For once we have the boy who is rather boring, kind of helpless and pretty uninteresting at first, but gets a sudden development (even a very similar one). Then we have the pink haired girl who helps the boy survive and becomes a romantic interest (not so obvious in GC). While the girls are quite similar in their role, the character is extremly different actually.
Other than that, they have a lot of action scenes, some unexpected twists (more so in MN) but overall the plot isn't as consistent. However, they can be extremly entertaining if you don't care TOO much about a few plot holes. read more
Powers granted to a non hero type of boy that turns out to be a great decision.
Both filled with twists in the plot that you definitely do not see.
Great, thrilling, weird. Add to that the special atmosphere and you got a Mindbreaking anime.
Similar scenes from time to time, Yukiteru is Shu, Yuno is Inori, both have mysterious pasts, the Void King in Guilty Crown is the God of Time and Space in Mirai Nikki. Both female protagonists have relationships with the male protagonist, both mention about the Apocalypse in a different way.
Thriller animes where the main protagonists are wimpy teenaged males who are put into a situation where they'd rather not participate in. They both go through some kind of psychological trauma leading them to losing their insanity. Both protagonists are accompanied by pink-haired females who aren't necessarily mentally stable but are important in keeping the main character alive. Seriously, both these survival/romance animes have great story plots, animation, music and excellent plot twists that will keep you wanting to watch more. If you loved either one, you'll really love the other.
Both are amazing anime. They have a wimpy guys that have badass moments and have help from cute and possible unstable girls. the plot is twisted and is somewhat unexpected that will keep you hooked.they have a sort of sad ending but overall your be glad you watched it. they are both mostly action and about survival and romance they are some of the best anime i've ever seen you wont regret watching either of them :D
I dont know about other people, but in my opinion guilty crown reminds me of mirai nikki in lots of ways. for example how the main caracters are rather frail and after some psycological trauma they both become rather insane. thats one of the things i like most in both of them. so i think those that like a the insanity from mirai nikki really should give guilty crown a try.
They both have the same idea of ruling over the world, lead by the strongest "couple" which coincidentally consists of a young aimless boy and a fairly powerful pink haired girl. Also in both series the girl has a split personality (though in different ways) and the boy matures into a cool-looking cloak. Both have an intriguing element--Guilty Crown has the existence of Voids and Mirai Nikki allows the ability to see into your future. Overall I found MN to be lingering on the horror side while GC had a lot of action.
The main protagonists of both anime's (Yukiteru and Shu) are pretty similiar, they're both kind of weak in the beginning, but due to the support of their girlfriend, they become more powerful and seem to realize more important things then they origionally didn't. Both anime's also feature a pink haired main character (Yuno and Inori) who would do anything in their power to support and protect the main protagonist.
Both also have a very good emotional OST.
If you liked the fast paced action that Mirai Nikki had to offer, then you'll like Guilty Crown since it basically has the same amount of action in the first few episodes.
If you liked the relationship between Shu and Inori in Guilty Crown, you will love Mirai Nikki since it's almost the same.  read more
- A lot of action.
- In Mirai Nikki they have the ability to use a Future Diary, and in Guilty Crown, Shu has the ability to extract voids out of human bodies.
- A problem in the plot is getting worser and worser.
- A lot of scenes with violenty and blood.
- Yukiteru and Yuno, and in Guilty Crown: Shu, had at the beginning normal lives, but their lives do change further in the anime.
The similarities between Guilty Crown and Mirai Nikki are not difficult to spot. Both main characters developed a relationship. Both main characters had social anxiety issues but began to make friends as the story moved on. Both series will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Both have great animation along with an enjoyable OST. Lastly, both series are filled with plenty of action, drama, and major plot twists.
Similar Protagonists and also similar love story and a bittersweet ending.
Over all a nie story and well animated. The expression of emotions is reflected on the eyes and you learn about the characters psychological problems and get a nice insight on their personalities.
One victor - for the ultimate price, both series involves a scenario where the main character becomes a target for assassination. Luckily, they do manage to make friends with an unlikely alliance who has their own skills in protecting them. And although different in man ways, they bond throughout the series and learn about each others' dark pasts. Both series features a cast of diverse characters each with their own set of skills and personalities. Expect grim scenes and horrific sequences when it comes to attempts to kill off their targets.
Survival genres. We see them in almost every anime. Akuma no Riddle is similar to Mirai Nikki in the sense that in order to survive or win, you have to defeat your enemies. Not only that, both anime have a darker story to them and especially action scenes. Both anime have a person protecting another person. Just like a bodyguard protecting the hunted from the hunters.
In Mirai Nikki: Yuno protecting Yukiteru
In Akuma no Riddle: Tokaku protecting Haru
However, the difference between Mirai Nikki & Akuma no Riddle is the characters. All of the cast members are female in Akuma no Riddle, while Mirai Nikki has both male and female participants. read more
These anime are very similar, because both anime goes about a kind of 'survival game' when only one survives, but in Akuma no Riddle everyone is after one person and in Mirai Nikki everyone is after each other.
And in both anime one person is protecting another person in the survival game.
In Mirai Nikki: Yuno is protecting Yuki.
In Akuma no Riddle : Tokaku is protecting Haru.
But one difference is that in Akuma no Riddle ALL the people who participated the survival game are women, and in Mirai Nikki are there both man and women in the survival game.
If you like the survival game plot, Akuma no Riddle will make you have that. The plot is very similar (one person is threatened by others, one of the 'killers' chose to protect them instead, all characters have a previous story and it's shown later why do they want/need to kill the main character. Akuma no Riddle has a bit of shoujo-ai in it, but nothing that would discourage you to watch it.
Both anime involve a group of people trying to kill each other (or in Akuma no Riddle's case, one person), and both have some comedy in them, but it being kept to a minimum in Mirai Nikki. And both anime also have romance, but the romance in Akuma no Riddle is only slight romance, and you most likely wouldn't notice if it wasn't there. And both anime also have one character being protected by another character who does all the work, but Character A is found out to be very important to the plot, even though they've done nothing.
Akuma No Riddle haves good art, story and also intense fighting scenes which are unique. The Main character maybe be look kinda "lame" but actually she's a badass like Gasai Yuno.maybe few people dosent see those too similiar but they are.
This anime about 'kill or be killed' is actually only about eliminating one target but still has a similar feel. Each episode a character takes a stab at the target (literally) and we see some character exposition. The endings are really similar as well in a way.
Akuma no Riddle is leagues away from the violence of Mirai Nikki but we still get pretty good fights and wacky/crazy characters out of it!
In both anime one of the main things is the fact that one person is protecting a person they love in a deadly competition and in both of them their is a group of people is gathered to try to kill each other to be the last one standing.
Both anime contain a story which involves a competition where you have to eliminate your opponents by killing and be the last one standing to win, with a prize to 'improve' lives of others and power.
However, in both anime, two unlikely pairs join forces to survive the competition, facing complications in the process
The protagonist is always screaming and crying in the face of danger. In both the series, the protagonist just wants to be left alone. They also share the common theme of murder and mystery. Also, the protagonist eventually learn to except their roles in the story and the final battle takes place towards the end (as in any other typical story!).
Nevertheless, they are both very good anime, very closely related if you watch the entire series (or even just the first episode or two), and well worth watching!
-Both are set in modern times
-Main character is introverted and paranoid
-Pink-haired girl leads main character through a mystery, while hiding her own secrets
-Main character develops a relationship with the pink-haired girl
-Supporting characters with similar supernatural powers appear
-Mirai Nikki is much more suspenseful and nerve-wrecking
-Chaos head eventually loses its horror/psychological feel
Both have this "blow your mind"-setting that keeps you constantly wondering about what actually goes on. At both series you have to think hard pretty to follow the storyline but keeps very much space for surprises. The gory scenes are pretty equal too. Both heros are very similar in character. Rimi (ChäosHead) is pretty much a second Yuno (at least by appearence). At first it felt like a weird sequel to Mirai Nikki but then the story kicked in ;)
both girls are a little bit insane, and the main characters are both terrified of the girl, but still follows them around
they both have about the same horrorish felling about them, but not as extreme as Mirai Nikki
the characters are quite alike, the main character being a boy they don't think they are worthy and are quite outcast from the rest of the world and suddenly a girl also being a main character bring them back to humanity essentially an we constantly question can we trust the people surrounding the characters and often question them themselves
Both have chaotic plots that become nonsensical over time, pink haired female protagonists, and a strange preoccupation with god. They also both have plot holes and huge casts that are utilized poorly. I would argue Mirai Nikki is worse on both these accounts, though that is not the general consensus.
Both basically have the same idea of survival fighting people with similar origin of special powers. The protagonist gets a psycho female sidekick and they venture out into the world to achieve whatever goals they have. However, the female sidekick in Big Order wants revenge on the male protagonist whereas the female protagonist in Mirai Nikki basically loves the male protagonist to death. Literally to death.
Just watch the first episode of the season... if you're a Yuno fan like me, youll love it
the main characters are similar
some mind games too
its a fun first episode. I expect great things from this series!
Both are written by the same author Esuno, Sakae.
Both feature a death match/survival theme of hunting down others in the same predicaments as themselves.
Both feature crazy yandere female protagonists however, not as saturated as Mirai Nikki.
Both feature Esuno's love for plot twists.
Both have a super natural theme of abilities only, rather than future prediction, literal powers.
Compared to Mirai Nikki, Eiji, the main protagonist fights for something whereas Yuki only wanted to survive and was very cowardly for the majority of the anime.
Big Order and Mirai Nikki. Both series show a guy who discovers that he has supernatural abilities, and that he is part of a survival game with other people with the same abilities. He also gets involved with a girl, which he will use as self-defense until he can put an end to this twisted game.
The series shows us the mentality of the protagonists, how that power can be used for a good, as well as for evil. Letting go of their instincts, they will fight with all their strength to be the one that survives. It shows the characters' lives and how everything changes for them when they acquire those abilities. read more
Pretty obvious similarities.
Both titles are made by Asread and based on manga by Sakae Esuno.
Also, very similar character design.
In both titles highschooler is bestowed with supernatural ability, then encounters a girl with questionable sanity.
One can only say that Big Order is a bad, more shounen-ish version of Mirai Nikki
+ The anime start off with a boy getting superpowers
+ They meet a girl, whose appearance is pretty much the same in both anime
+ The girls are more or less psychopaths
+ The stories are similar in the sense that they involve protagonists having to team up to defeat threats
+ The stories have something to do with a god
+ These two anime are written by the same mangaka
- Of course, the male lead's personality. Eiji is the polar opposite of Yukki
-Both animes are made by the same studio
-The MC look similar
-We have a scary pink haired girl
-MC is a target for assassination
-MC has family he wants to protect
-Both shows give off eerie and strange vibes
-Both anime are about certain people who posses special abilities/items
-Eiji is basically Yuki's badass twin
Both stories come from the same mangaka, so it was obvious they'd be similar, but I didn't expect THIS!
-Both protagonists are introduced in the same way
-Possible yandere girl
-Extremely similar character design
Mirai Nikki and Big Order are both based on manga written by Esuno Sakae and were adapted by Asread.
There are a lot of similarities between them:
-The main character and other people within the series possess a supernatural item or ability.
-Both have a pink haired girlfriend with similar scary personality.
-Similar dark setting.
-Similar character designs.
With Mirai Nikki, Sakae Esuno tried to make an unintentionally hilarious series with some of the most absurd and ridiculously over-the-top bullshit you'll ever see in any work of fiction, however he wasn't quite experienced on the so-bad-it's-good department yet, thus Mirai Nikki ended up being just plain awful. However, with Big Order, the guy finally got his shit together, learned from his mistakes and delivered a series that will make your sides disappear from this plane of existence, never to be found or heard from again.
Something that people enjoy is turned into a living nightmare and it involves technology. A character who is unable to make friends is suddenly able to make friends only to lose them due to the "game". There is also a "god" in the game too.
Both anime throw you into a changed and kind of malformed world, in it the main characters try to servive by different means.
Although both anime are different by genre, they are similar in the action and emotion filled scenarios, both of them will take you off your your feet!
At first Mirai Nikki will mess up with your mind in many ways, it will make you be scared and thrilled and it will probably make you think entirely differently about that anime genre...
On the other hand S.A.O. will take you also to a new world but in it it will put you a condition never known before (I do not count .Hack) and scenarios who will bring you to tears, and many many moments your jaw will drop.
I'd recommend to watch Mirai Nikki and then Sword Art Online. It;s much better that way :) read more
When I was watching the first episode of SAO it reminded me a lot of Mirai Nikki.
Both shows have the same feeling, that kind of feeling of deep that you can't die if you want to win the game... and you HAVE TO WIN THE GAME to survive.
While Mirai Nikki is more GORE and realistic, SAO has more "fantasy-world" stuff, like sword fights, experience points after a battle, and more game-like things.
Of course, if you already watched Mirai Nikki, you'll like SAO... and if you didn't, what are you waiting for? These shows are amazing!
Both are a survival game in a sense that if you lose you die. However the more you get into the both show, the more generic and uncreative it gets, I mean seriously, both of these shows will piss you off.
Both have a group of people who are thrown into a deadly game by that world's God. Both have a variety of different people in this game, people that are nice and trying to help others survive against vicious killers. Differences are how the main characters react to the news that they are in this survival game.
SAO is more fantasy like while Mirai Nikki is more gory, but they both deal with being trapped in some sort of game. A game that is suppose to be fun is turned into a living nightmare as they fight for their own survival.
When looking for a survival game, these two will kill you. Literally. Both animes showcase having an overseer of the game, whether that is a god or game creator. However, in order to leave said game, both are different but still leave a sense of survival and death games. I didn't care for the fast pace of SAO's way of showing the survival aspect of the plot. I did like Mirai Nikki's way of survival of kill with whatever resources you got. Overall, if you like watching lives at stake and the struggle of a death game more real than SAO, Mirai Nikki will fill that gap for you.  read more
Yandere - Romance - Action - Drama - Life changing decisions
Race for becoming a god, Every participant has a item that has its own kind of way to show the future so they must find a way to counter the opponent and kill them.
main charecters are yuki-male , very soft, dosent have any kind of power.
and the yuno-female , in love with yuki. well she is a yandere...
it has a good story, nice ending, interesting actions and storytelling.
i think the only major problem is charecters, because they seem very out of place, i didnt connect them realy well (except for yuni and yuno).
Both can be dark
Use time Magic in simaler ways
Simaler people for example the kyube and the time god + assistant
Both are great dark animes that make you relly think about what you have watched
Both have quite diferent art styles mixed into the normaly with gives them both very indeviual looks and finaly they are both epic
Both are mind fucks to the core yet are ridiculously awesome!
If you love mystery and want memorable scenes then these anime are right for you!
Both have a dynamic story line with twists and turns around every corner. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride!
both question true intentions & the existance of life.
Mirai Nikki has intense questions
Madoka has subtle questions
Mirai is more graphic than Madoka, if you've watched Madoka but not Mirai Nikki please reconsider.
Both important to philosophy & have rad characters
Made me question life a bunch of times.
Both have extremely dark undertones, and both take a couple episodes to get running. Though Mirai Nikki blasts you faster, Madoka also hits you in the face. Both have:
-Strong Character Development
-A mysterious heroine that gets revealed later through the series
-An ending that will drive you off a cliff
Though their plots differ, their dark themes, messages, and characters will make you love one if you preferred the other.
Even though, from a first approach, you could mistake Mirai Nikki for a shounen and Mahou Shojo Madoka for a fantasy/shoujo/magical girl anime, don't be fooled. Before anything, they are thrillers. Their intrigues can be related, but on the same time they are not actually that similar (won't say more not to spoil you).
Overall, I make this recommandation because these two anime can give you the same feelings (chills, thrill or WTF), especially when they start to run wild. If you enjoyed watching one, you will enjoy watching the other.
How far would you go for the person you care and love? Are you ready to face the consequences of your actions? Both series have a dark themed atmosphere filled with a sense of mystery and action thrown into the mix. The two contain gore and fighting as well, albeit in their own way. The build up of tension, the drama, and the way the plot unfolds; both series will surely keep you glued to your seats.
Fate Stay Night and Mirai Nikki both tells about Survival Game in which the contestants battle against each other to win the prize. They also features similar protagonists who were initially weak and pathetic, but grows as the series progresses. In FSN, Emiya Shirou is accompanied by Saber while in Mirai Nikki Yukiteru is accompanied by Gasai Yuno. Yuno and Saber are both powerful heroines able to surpass the heroes in combat.
Both animes began to unveil dark, hidden secrets as the story progresses.
Both the protagonists have been dragged into a war (both against 11 other characters) without a choice, a fight for survival with the reward being something of great importance. Both have very dark themes
The characters are forced to participate in a game where they must kill in order to be granted any one wish. There are no familiars, but the concept is similar. The main characters are both unwilling, but this anime is more horror though.
Fate/stay night and Mirai Nikki involve Emiya Shirou and Yukiteru Amano, respectively, being dragged into a survival game against their will. The games in both involve goin against a set of opponents with a certain objective. In Fate/stay night, the objective is to eliminate all the opposing servants of the other contestants. In Mirai Nikki, you must destroy all other future diaries owned by the contestants. If one were to win in Mirai Nikki, one would become god of their universe. If one were to win in Fate/stay night, one would receive the all powerful Holy Grail. Both main characters are portrayed to be weak and soft in their personalities. The two characters receive help from strong-willed, more experienced females--Tohsaka Rin in Fate/stay night, and Gasai Yuno in Mirai Nikki. Both shows can be lighthearted but can also become very dark. They were both very enjoyable to watch. read more
Both animes involve a winner-take-all game where the combatants have to fight one another to the death.
Both have a protagonist who is reluctant to fight unless absolutely necessary
Both have a female main character who is clearly more skilled than the protagonist (and is much more willing to play the game)
In both this female character assists the protagonist in trying to win the game
Both are quite dark and have a lot of bloodshed and deaths as the story progresses
Both have very good fight scenes and story exposition, as well as good character growth
Mirai Nikki uses cellphones as diaries to predict the future and the characters have to fight amongst themselves, whereas F/SN the characters summon servants to help them fight
Mirai Nikki the game is held to determine the next God of Space and Time, F/SN the game is held to determine a worthy recipient of the Holy Grail read more
Both shows have similar premises, main characters, and present a balanced mix of action & drama with a fair share of plot twists and dark undertones. Also the main pairings presented are similar in many ways (though are both different enough to feel unique from each other as well).
However the biggest reason I have is, oddly enough, the main criticism people have for both shows ~ that they are said to have many inconsistencies and plot holes. The underlying reason for each is different, but if you disagree/don't care about this being an issue in one, then the main reason people will tell you not to watch the other is null and void for you. As such you are better suited to enjoy the other for the things it does well. read more
- Both Yuno and Satou are typical yanderes.
- In these two animes, one main character is defenseless and the other main character protects him/her at any cost.
- Brutal, bloody scenes.
In my opinion, Mirai Nikki is better than Happy Sugar Life but if you like psycho female characters, brutal scenes and deep relationships you must watch HSL.
If you liked Satou, you will almost definitely like Yuno Gasai. They are very similar in their way of thinking. They are both crazy yanderes with unhealthy obsessions and they are not afraid to kill anybody that gets in their way.
Both of the animes involve someone who will go to extreme lengths to protect their love... both main characters also have an insane side, if you enjoy the horror psychological genres then you'll like both. They also can be a bit disturbing at times so only watch if you are comfortable with that.
Both have a Yandere Girl who is sweet and kind at first glance, but when it comes to their object of love and affection will act obsessive and violent. Both Yuno Gasai and Satō Matsuzaka both act sweet and kind to on-lookers at the start. But when someone were to get involved or get in the way of their object of affection (Yuno with Yuki and Sato with Shio) they become violently aggressive and murderous. Though Yuno's body count is definitely higher than Sato's, what Sato brings to the table, in terms of obsessiveness and possessiveness, rivals even Yuno's. Anyone who enjoyed Happy Sugar Life would enjoy Mirai Nikki, and vice verse. read more
Mirai Nikki is a divisive topic among anime fans. But if you've seen it and need your fix of pink haired yandere that will do anything for the one she loves, then Happy Sugar Life will definitely fill that void.
The themes in Happy Sugar Life are much darker than in Mirai Nikki and places a lot more of it's focus on the characters. But the legacy Mirai Nikki has made will outlast that of Happy Sugar Life.
both are scary anime!
both are Mystery, Supernatural, Thriller.
both have serial murders
both have detectives.
both have kill or get killed situations.
both have yandere characters .
both have same scary feeling and atmosphere and have same excitement"what will happen next ?"
Preatty creepy and bloody anime! Actually after seeing Megumi i realized how similar to Yuno she is!
Preatty, psyco, yandereish (imo) and also pink haired!
Personally i love both this anime even if the themes are not to similar
Mirai Nikki and Shiki aside from both having a pink haired yandere character obsessing over a guy named Yuki, shows us that no one is truly good or truly evil. We all have our reasons and we are all human after all.
"I am here to protect you because we are destined to be together." And of course the main character is thinking along the lines, "What is up with this crazy chick?". Well, the hero and heroine go through a bunch of mysteries of sorts in order to survive, whether it be from a "game" or it be killers on the street.
Creepy schoolgirl stalkers with a cute side, some gore and mindscrew, and Japanese schoolgirls being your average Japanese schoolgirls, bloody knifes included.
DTK being an OVA suffers quality-wise, but voiceacting is very nice, and the thriller feeling is just as good.
Both have a school setting and a romance where one of the girls is basically THE definition of "yandere" and the boy doesn't speak his mind (or, quite frankly, is an idiot).
There's gore in both shows (though in Mirai Nikki a lot more).
School days rather focuses on the romance and the drama, while Mirai Nikki has a plot that revolves around a survival game, though the romance is still important for the way the character act.
Both can be a bit disturbing at certain parts and both are kind of hit-or-miss shows with a lot of people loving them and a lot of people not liking them at all. read more
Both contain obnoxious characters, yanderes and (spoiler) severed heads.
The protagonists are both idiots.
School Days has less gore than Mirai Nikki, however, and is a lot more bearable. Mirai Nikki is longer with a more complex plot, whereas School Days instead focuses on the "romance".
For those who likes "yandere", should watch Mirai Nikki, the women protagonists of both animes are psychopaths (Kotonoha and Yuno). Mirai Nikki is more violent and dramatic than School Days, but both of them have the "Psychopath Love".
There is an obessive girlfriend, the story is very twisted and deep, and at the end there is extreme violence involved. I highly recommend if you're into horror , an extremely deep story and a little romance.
Both have Yanderes
Both deal with teen love
Both have WTF I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING endings
Both get creepier the more you watch it
Both deal with the stress of having the wrong person falling in love with you
These two series can gives you a bit of enjoyment because of the retarded characters in the show. Both are gory and dramatic which also focuses on romance. If you are a person who like dark stories, well, you're gonna enjoy these two shows.
Mobile phones get used as tools of survival game warfare, whilst characters act stupid and die/suicide for 'so bad, it's kinda good?' entertainment purposes. This is why I don't have a phone.
Ousama Game has Light Yagami's voice; Mirai Nikki has cute waifu yandere Yuno. Make your choice wisely. Mirai Nikki also has a budget.
Very much filled with adult content just like Mirai Nikki.
The story is about a group of people trying to survive by following their cell phones command or else they will die, and Mirai Nikki has the same idea except their cellphones have abilities that would help them survive in this survival game. The characters all have their own twists and turns.
Survival games with players using gadget / cell phone for fighting each other on the death match
On Mirai Nikki, the last survivor will be the next God of Time and Space but on MahouIku there's 8 last survivor .. Both are full of bloodbath and dark story between each character
Kill or be killed. Both anime will give you several characters and then you can bet which character will survive. Main protagonist must find allies to fight enemies, but not all ally can be trusted. Fear, hate, and revenge will cover every character personality. Blood everywhere, and corpse everywhere. Who will survive? Watch and you will know how difficult to survive with other survivors...
Similar introduction to the series (The first minute or so of the 1st episode)
Both are based upon survival games
A lot of characters put into the survival games (Mirai Nikki has 12, Raising project has 16)
They follow almost the same plot line. Future Diary and Magic Girl Raising Project both have “magic cell phones”, it’s battle royal, they were specifically chosen to fight.
The differences, Future Diary has a Yandere character and it’s much more mature than Magic Girl Raising Project.
Magic Girl Rasing Project is way more cutesy but still have the same elements that all battle royal type anime need to have.
Also, while Future Diary has more of “insightful cell phone”, while in Magic Girl, the girls each have their own specific powers to help them fight.
Well from the initial premise, both Mirai Nikki and Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge involves a twisted game using dangerous objects. These objects has supernatural abilities that can be fatal to opponents when used correctly.
More than that though, the main protagonist from both series has seemingly has an obsession (although different in nature).
Both series contains a mystery like aura as well given the background of the game that the characters are involved in. Additionally, it seems that the game itself has consequences for losers.
Both series also adds in flavors comedy, drama, action, and inklings of romance between the two main characters from their perspective stories. read more
If you are into a little bit of "gore" theme and would want to see straight to the point action, then somehow this will entice you to go for this series.
Some of you may encountered that "Akame Ga Kill!" is a no good series. Well for some reason:
1. They started of really good but upon reaching the end. They did not anymore follow the manga series.
2. (P.S. - I may be a little bit biased here) Rule of thumb, just don't pick who your favorite characters are you'll see xD
Last but not the least if "drama" or simply known as "feel trip" will be an ingredient to this series. read more
It's one of the most similar anime that you could find to Mirai Nikki. It's going in the same line, although the argument is different.
Perhaps this anime doesn't have a part as romantic and fictional as Mirai Nikki, in other words, it's more possible or seems more real.
Punctuation that I have put in this anime is similar in both because graphics are very good, opening and ending are fantastic despite of they don't have a lot of soundtrack, but the best is the unexpected, that surprises you, especially at the end.
In summary, if you like Mirai Nikki, I believe that this anime will like you.
The atmosphere is very similar in both, dark, eerie, yet also some quirkiness at times... and the presence of much blood and gore, very graphic and psychotic... The male protagonist in both also seem similar in that they are just normal students until they are entangled in a "game" of life and death, contemplating murder in order to survive. They both also met very crazed girls who seem to hold no remorse for killing.
Although the plots to Mirai Nikki and Tokyo Ghoul are nowhere near each other, they're pretty similar in all other aspects. It all really comes down to the central idea of anime not being just for kids. Like Tokyo Ghoul, Mirai Nikki delivers in violence, character development, and plot. If you're looking for a bit more twisted romance and less censored violence, then be sure to watch Mirai Nikki. If you want badass characters and character development coming straight out of every orifice of the protagonist, then watch Tokyo Ghoul. Either way, both shows are of my favorite anime and I highly recommend you watch them right away.  read more
Both animes involve a lot of gore, and the MC of both animes is a pussy for at least half the show. The MC's supporting character is a Yandere that is madly in love with him in one(Mirai Nikki) While the other one is a Tsundere who i honestly couldn't say if she loves him or not (Tokyo Ghoul)
I found that both these anime had a creepy spine tingling feel to them
they both deal with a power one being seeing the future and the other becoming a ghoul and that causes them both to have to kill
both have male leads who have to kill but hate doing so
both leads go from soft to hardcore when it come to protection who they love
both are well done and fun series with horrifying moments and heartwarming ones as well
Wimpy isolated protagonists have to fight for their lives and become a central part of the impending apocalypse. Both have unstable (young) people engaging in brutal but also strategically interesting combat. Both have... Kaworu, pretty much.
Concerning the Main Character:
Both Shinji and Yukiteru are young boys who have lived a lonely life. Both of their fathers want nothing to do with them unless it benefits them. Both of them are suddenly forced to have a level of power that very few others have. This causes many moral dilenmas for the MC, and it takes a LONG time for both to even begin coming to terms with it.
Both of the main characters are typically overshadowed in the series by a stronger female role, who typically performs the more significant feats in the series (Asuka in NGE, Yuno in Mirai Nikki). In addition, both have their own dark pasts which have a severe effect on their current mindsets.
In addition, there is a 'divine' being in the form of human male that shows up in both series and takes a strange liking to the main character, but the relationship, usually inferred romantic, never gets to progress in any direction.
In addition, both series are not afraid to go all out with showcasing the graphic nature of the situation. Blood is spilt, and spilt heavily, in both series. The loss of human life is a serious thing and is treated as such.
And both series have a depressing atmosphere that just permeates the entire world around them, though NGE's is more noteworthy due to it's late-series decline in animation quality. read more
Kids fighting for their lives, knowing full well most of them won't make it out alive. While Mirai Nikki is a bit more violent, both have their fair share of nightmare fuel and horrifying revelations as the stories unfold.
Both deals with people who are destined to die, and how they cope with it. Both explains each person's past to enable the watchers to sympathize with the players of the messed up game. Both worlds are destined to be destroyed if games are not carried out successfully. Both are good mix of drama, psychological, action, with twists that involve different worlds.
If you're a fan of that survival game theme, then you'll definitely enjoy this. Mirai Nikki focuses more on a direct linear storyline with 2 MC (2 others joining them later on) while Bokurano focuses on a storyline that bases on each individual character in a linear storyline. Both contain a lot of action, drama, psychological twists, and horror. Mirai Nikki also focuses a bit on romance between the two main characters.
I've grown disgusted of the word "both". So, let's just say this: Mirai Nikki has quite a few kids (along with plenty of adults) wrapped up in a deathmatch perpetrated by a dying god looking to crown his successor. Where Bokurano portrays people coming to terms with duty and death, Mirai Nikki portrays people willing to part with the core of their being in order to survive. Bokurano employs a more consistent set of laws and concepts to its world, but fails to reach as far off the deep end as MN does as a result.
•both are are about a game which focus on a group of people that are bound to the game and will eventually die
•both the groups of people in each series fully understand that they themselves will die eventually,
•both series, as it progresses, it shows each characters past and the psychological pain they withstand and under go as they come to terms with the 'game'
•both are of the psychological genre, with the characters forced into 'battle' and learning to grow up as fast as possible, for there own series plots
•both show the mindsets of humanity as it is forced into horrible situations and they both show the unkind side of humanity ..
•they are somewhat similar with the 'game' and the psychological genre aspect, but if you liked one, you might like the other.
"Dude, you're so way dead unless you do something to change it," your cellphone suddenly tells you. "Oh, and don't worry about the whole supporting cast having more interesting personalities than you, the main character. They get no screentime, anyway. BTW, the world is totally ending, so have fun with that!"
Both anime are about survival and the approach of humans to a dangerous situation with teenage main characters.
Mirai Nikki has a psychological approach with action elements, Devil Survivor 2 has philosophical elements about the destiny of mankind.
Also some characters have traits in common.
Both series involves around a city in which there is strange supernatural phenomenon taking place. The usage of cell phones is a part of those phenomenons.
The setting also features a game-like scenario where survival is the key. In other words, lives are at stakes and there are no second chances.
The series also has action, drama, and deals with how the main characters must overcome obstacles in order to survive.
Protagonists of the two anime series must use some sort of a future telling device to prevent themselves from dying.
Supernatural events occur a lot through out the story.
Along the animes, many gory violent scenes occur.
Both have an element where you can predict future deaths using your phone.
(Well more specific is in Devil Survivor 2, it's a phone app)
It's a similar idea as it's survival, but rather than it being a Battle Royale, people/humanity are clubbing together to defeat demons. So it's a new story to enjoy!
To Kill or Be Killed
Both shows employ the concept of "Battle Royal", where contestants will fight or kill each other until only one survivor remains. The only difference is Mirai Nikki has a vast location while Danganronpa is only limited to a specific place.
This anime have same theme of a killing game and the future about people trying to survive a certain amount of time. Both have a host (Monokuma and the God of Time), and they both have devices that they have to keep or they will die (Phone and Bracelet).
This animes are almost the same things because:
-Both take place in a killing game
-Both have som kind of weakness (Phone or bracelet)
-Both are about future
-Both have a host (Monokuma and the gof of time
Except that one takes place in a specific place and the other one is anywhere.
There is this common link between the two series which is hard to get into without getting into spoilers for 11eyes, yet in some ways the common link is one that is going to vary from person to person, as one person’s favorite character isn’t going to be the favorite character of another person. What I can say though regarding this common link is that I personally have felt a deep connection with the characters of both series, but found myself rooting for said characters. Yet, in this regard, both series are dark, so one should not go in expecting a happy ending.
Both anime have...
-a crazy girl who is in love with the main protagonist
-a end of the world disaster theme
-few select people with powers
-a final sex scene (though is isn't shown, just suggested)
-a really hard to follow where it wont make sense
-both use alternative worlds as an excuse to tie up loose ends
-ability to predict the future
If I had to choose between the two i would say Mirai Nikki is better but if you like one you will enjoy the other
Both anime have a yandere trying to make the protagonist theirs doing whatever they can to make him theirs even if it means killing others and cheating life, and both have a supernatural horror type feeling to them.
I found that the main characters of both (Zero Two and Hiro, Yuno and Yuuki) have very similar traits and characteristics that bring together their independent series'. Zero Two and Yuno have very passionate and goal-directed behaviour, whereas Hiro and Yuuki are both leaders in their own right (Yuuki falls into the category a lot later than Hiro though).
And yes, each pair have the same hair colour.
If you loved the Romance in Mirai Nikki you will love Darling in the FranXX,for me it was a little difficult with the childish Robot-stuff, but if you hold on, you will feel the same as in Mirai Nikki.

- Both shows have very similar romances and relationships between the male and female leads.
- Both male and female leads have similar personalities and both characters look similar.
- Both force teenage couples into a very serious and dangerous situation
- Both made me very sad
Both shows have a psycho yandere girlfriend. They both act almost the same. They even both have a diary that predicts the future. The character Ringo has many of the same traits as Yuno, in fact it's likely she was based off of her.
Both anime have in-depth plots dealing with questions of fate, time travel, control of the universe, and how far one would go for the person they love. Using the word "epic" to describe either one would be an understatement.
Both series center around a diary that holds the fate of our main characters. Both series also have a psychopath in love (main character in Mirai Nikki, supporting character in Mawaru Penguindrum).
Penguindrum is not as straightforward as Mirai Nikki, but both have their twists and turns.
although the way the game is set up, they are still both about a survival compitition for dominance... while watching mirai nikki i got this feeling that it was reminding me of something and i finally realised it was C... both amazing animes
After watching half way through this show I got a slight feeling that I had been here before and then it hit me, Mirai Nikki is just like C , both are strong psychological thrillers that personally left me wanting know what would happen next each and every episode and both kept me on edge wondering who would betray the main characters next and who could be trusted. In all honesty if you could keep up with intellectual demand of Mirai Nikki then you should be fine with C and maybe even seeing the twists before they happen. So if you liked Mirai Nikki then give C a go and vice versa.  read more
Code Geass isn't a psychological thriller but it is similar to Mirai Nikki in terms of cliffhangers and plot twists. Code Geass and Mirai Nikki both focus on how certain characters use their special abilities (Geass and the Future Diary) in order to achieve their goal. Code Geass is more upbeat and grand while Mirai Nikki is much more gloomy and melodramatic.
Both quite dark at times, both action packed, both have engaging lead characters who are very bright but come across as wimpy occasionally. Both make you think as you watch, and are suspenseful and engaging.
When i first saw Code Geass and Death Note i saw a lot of similiraties... with Mirai Nikki it happened too... in this 3 animes there's a theme which is seen in this 3 animes: a new world creation... and yes in this 3 animes all principal characters have a "power" whch make them god alike.
They both share a similar characteristic of playing with your emotions, although Mirai Nikki has a much much stronger element of fear added in the mix. Both have strong plots and dark character backstories that become motives for their struggles. One could also argue that Mirai Nikki is a perversion of Angel Beats! since the participants are forced to fight each other to alleviate their live's sorrows instead of working together to overcome them.
Both fantastic comedies, made by the prolific Miyazaki-chan and his long time partner David Williams-dono. These two shows are both great to pick up your mood, especially after realizing Miyazaki, and David Williams did not work on these shows, but you can believe. Nothing wrong with these shows at all, if I have to say it, these shows are the best shows in the universe, quite possibly the world. 10/10
Both are primarily psychological thrillers that embrace the darkest aspects of their worlds: Mirai Nikki with its battle royale blood-bath and Phantom with its life-ruining mafia lifestyle. Being thrillers, both are well-paced, have good plots, highly suspenseful, and are exciting to watch. However, Phantom focuses on creating intense emotional responses to the overwhelming psychological suffering of its assassin characters, instead of focusing on suspense and horror like Mirai Nikki. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, these two are the best in the book.
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom and Mirai Nikki are both dark, despairing dramas where the main character is suddenly thrown into a dilemma that tests his strength. Yukiteru and Zwei try to survive throughout the stories when many obstacles are thrown their way. At first both ukiteru and Zwei are hesitant to kill people, but after their first kill, they acclimatize with their new circumstances and deal with it.
Both also have a strong female leads with unique personalities, with a penchant for killing. The tendency to show rated R gore and mood fit each other. If you liked the darkness/mystery of Mirai Nikki with a tinge of a smaller romantic subplot that slowly develops over time, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom is a great watch. read more
Both are involved with tournament-survival game, where book owners (Gash Bell)/diary's owners (Mirai Nikki) will have to destroy each other book/diary.
The winner, which is the last one standing will became king (Gash Bell)/god (Mirai Nikki).
Mirai Nikki is darker than Gash Bell in many prospects including destroying diary will lead to death of the owner, thus owners mostly wouldn't care less to kill each other directly. While in Gash Bell, the demon of the book will return to demon world after destroying the book.
Mirai Nikki and Konjiki no Gash Bell both have very different stories, however they do share some aspects that are a constant in both:
First, they both include people who are dragged into a "game" without choosing to be entered into it. Mirai Nikki is a much more violent "game" than the mamodo battle in Konjiki No Gash Bell.
Second, Yuuki and Kiyo are somewhat similar characters. The competition that they have been entered in improves their character and makes them into a stronger person overall. Watching the character of the two grow adds to the show in my opinion.
Third, they are both accompanied by one person who is basically the one person that they can truly trust when it comes to the competition. They both happen to have supernatural powers.
I wasn't a huge fan of Konjiki no Gash Bell, but i think that if this is your style of anime then you will be able to enjoy it fully. read more
The basis of the "Survival game" and the fact everyone has similar-esque powers to the other contestants in Zatch bell they all have a demon with respective powers in Mirai Nikki you have the ability to see different futures.
A group of individuals are selected to fight in a death match. Both settings are urban and the contestants are a variety of unique characters. Their their battles include well animated fight scenes and calculative and strategic monologues. Mirai Nikki has plot twists and interesting character backgrounds which involve complex romances.
A group of individuals with hidden talents and skill sets, are made to kill each other in order to win a 'game'. Both series involve manipulations, surprising alliances, lots of action, gore and deaths, as well as a completely unexpected ending.
The art styles of both Anime contain Gothic elements. The story lines are dark. The main characters are nobodies. Technology is in some manner involved. A game is involved that could leave one completely out of the game for good. Things slowly get revealed over time. They also have interesting casts of characters.
Both male protagonists get caught up in a game challenging other player, as well as female characters leading them along the journey. The protagonists have a goal to find out their identities, and defeat the other players to win the game. However Mirai Nikki is more violent and gory since players are killed when defeated, while Accel World is just action.
On one hand you have an insane yandere, and on the other hand you have a deredere.
Look past the basic cast and setting and you'll see many similarities between the show.
Weak main character with a strong heroine and useful friends.
Battle royale - kill or be killed, kill everyone else to achieve limitless power.
These animes are different but similar. First the most noticeable similarity are they are both battle royales. Even though Sekirei is a ecchi, harem, and more romance like feel they both have romace. In both series the contestants often fight with someone rather it's a partner or a group of underlings. If ecchi/harem isn't your most hated genre then give Sekirei a try if you liked Mirai Nikki or at least liked it's battle royale.
Both involve some way of surviving in a supernatural setting. In Mirai Nikki, one person has to survive to replace the current God, who is currently running out of time and in Gunslinger Stratos, two teams (both teams are the same people, but with alternate personalities from a different world) fight each other to the death, to determine which world should survive since there are two worlds. Both are also violent and action packed.
-Both are about killing to survive, Gunslinger Stratos is more futurist (about guns and all the stuff)
-Both have a romantic history between the main characters. Is more obvious in Mirai Nikki
- Both have interesting supporting characters that makes the anime better
- Both have a great history
These to animes are similar because it's about God/Deus (latin). There is this game going on where the main characters go all out, meaning betting their own lives on the games they are playing. Of course, we have a God who watches them and observes the process, but does not interfere with them. I want to end this recommendation with the fact that there are a lot of plot twists and surprising moments which you cannot always predict.
- Good action scenes with blood and gore.
- Both Alucard and Yuno show no guilt of killing.
- The MCs must eliminate their enemies.
- Supernatural aspects.
- Yukiteru relies on the heroine(Yuno), but Alucard hacks down his enemies with minimum help.
- In Mirai Nikki the characters play a "game" of 12 players, but Hellsing features a "war" of three factions.
- Mirai Nikki was censored, but Hellsing wasn't.
- (In my opinion) The animation of Hellsing is way better than Mirai Nikki.
- Both have violence (if you're into that kind of thing)
- Both are in a place where the world is literally ending
- Both the heroines look sort of the same (to me)
- Mirai Nikki is part romance while Owari no Seraph isn't, so I would not recommend it if you don't like that particular genre
- Owari no Seraph have supernatural weapons unlike Mirai Nikki
Both series revolve around a female protagonist who is psychotic in nature. They also make magnificent decisions and are also well skilled in fighting. Both of the anime are pretty dark in nature and while Mirai Nikki revolves around a survivor game, Youjo Senki revolves around a war. But every war is a survivor game right?
If you are a fan of mind bending genre of anime like I am, where you like heroes choosing life changing decisions, then Mirai Nikki is the one for you.
They are both kinda like a survival game. In Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, the characters going after the Holy Grail use these heroic spirits called Servants to aid them in their battles to survive, while in Mirai Nikki or The Future Diary, most of them are equipped with phones that tell them the future to help them try to change their fate... or death. There's also some romance going on with the main boy and girl in each of these series. The last surviving person in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works gets a wish from the Holy Grail and the last surviving person in Mirai Nikki or The Future Diary become the new God of Time and Space. But that's not always the case since both of these survival elements are altered in the end of each of these series.
They both have Action and Supernatural elements. read more
The main similarity shared between the two anime is the theme of "Love."
In both anime, the lead female character loves the leading male protagonist so much. With this, it makes them seem as a stalker/yandere... which is true (It's obviously true in Mirai Nikki as she killed people for the leading male while the leading female in Netoge No Yome acts like one, but never actually kills a person).
"At first, the leading male doesn't care much for her, in fact he views her more of a creep. But over time, he tends to like her more and more." This is true for both anime.
So if you like the completely obsessive girlfriend, they try this recommendation out.
(P.S both anime are very great, you'll definitely enjoy it) read more
The main character is just a normal guy, but a girl falls in love with him. The problem is that the girl is nuts. One is significantly darker than the other, but the two sets of leads have the same type of relationship, and in the dub at least, their voices are very similar.
Similar story : Survival Death Games Set In Parallel World
In Mirai Nikki, players in the survival game use "Future Diary" that can somewhat accurately predict the future to be the last player alive. The winner can make any wish to be granted.
In Alice in Borderlands, players pure using their strength & mind to survive in games. The winner get "Passport" for how long they alive.
Good psychological aspects and characters are similar.
The atmosphere is dark and the theme is mystery oriented.
The Sc-Fi tag on B is misleading as it's the only tag and while it is Sc-Fi, it's just so much more than that.
Two sci-fi thrillers that are not afraid to be totally absurd. Both have intense action sequences that border on insane adding more and more elements that make them unbelievable(ly entertaining). Overall crazy vibe meets super edgy characters makes for a weird but exciting experience. Each dabbles in detective mysteries but become more focused on fantasy elements as the story unfolds towards the end.
Both shows have toilet scenes.
Both animes are death games, where the last surviving player will win something on a mass scale. To survive the death games, the characters participating are given something to help them succeed. In UBW, the characters have servants, who were once heroic spirits, fend for them. However in Mirai Nikki, the characters have personalised future diaries .
This recommendation may be a stretch, but these two series both gave me weird feelings while watching them. Mysterious Girlfriend X is more light-hearted and lovey-dovey while Mirai Nikki has more of a serious tone to the whole anime. Both series have their main characters obsessed over one another (Yuno and Yukki in Mirai Nikki, Tsubaki and Urabe in MGX). If you liked MGX, I think you should be able to like Mirai Nikki, and vice versa.
Both really Plot-twisty and exciting to watch.
The main girl characters (AIKA, YUNO) have interest personalities and story twist is main revolved around them.
The main characters really does not have any special powers whatsoever.
Both has questionable moments about what the main conflict is as well as who or what is the antagonist.
Both really underrated and overlooked animes.
Tbvh this Mirai Nikki isn't even similar to Corpse Party at all.
But it has that psychotic, crazy, mental feeling in it that makes you want to say "This is so messed
up but wtf that was cool as hell." Especially at the end of Corpse Party I was like //woah.
Plus! If you like gore and blood and just crazy psycho characters running around killing people
with wide open eyes and creepy smiles then Mirai Nikki is for you. And to throw in a bonus
you will meet the queen of yandere's: Gasai Yuno. You'll have a blast with her :))
- Blood and gore.
- Slight humor
Mirai Nikki focuses on a "survival game", while Corpse Party follows kids trying to uncover the murderer of their school. Corpse Party is based on a game, and the show is VERY descriptive.
They're both really dark and do not shy away from themes such as murder, suicide, and insanity. Kara no Kyoukai is quite a bit darker and more serious than Mirai Nikki, but I think anyone who enjoyed Mirai Nikki for its characters will find a lot to like about Kara no Kyoukai.
It's a bit of a slow burner, but it's worth it if you give it a chance.
If you started seeing ayakashi, it is certainly not bad. But the fact is that some lines and details come back in a much better serie (personally).
Anyway, mirai nikki is made out of ayakashi, but end up in the same kind of situation through different lines
These two animes share the really similar game of desperate elimination of each other, the Alice game of Rozen Maiden and the future diary destroying in Mirai Nikki. All participaters are just trying to get to the top at all costs. Only that Mirai Nikki is the bloodier version.
-Both animes are about receiving or meeting a third party to supply you with powers to fight in a survival game, and aim to defeat the other parties to win the game.
-Both have groups that build bonds over the time they spend together.
Both of these Anime involve a dark storyline from the start. While Mirai Nikki doesn't have actual puzzles, the characters have to figure out a kind of mental logic puzzle when it comes to the other players in the death game. As for Phi Brain, while the death games aren't as drastic, the main characters have to solve the puzzles so that they or other people won't die.
both have do or die situations.
both are based on survival games someone has setup for the main character.
both main character have girl beside the like partner.
both have many situations where they have risk their life .
both are mystery anime.
both are aired in fall anime 2011
The action part of both series centers around mind games and logical strategies with surviving/winning as a goal. Also the enemies are prone to changing sides, though their motives become clear eventually.
-Both animes are about receiving or meeting a third party to supply you with powers to fight in a survival game, and aim to defeat the other parties to win the game.
-Both have groups that build bonds over the time they spend together.
both involve 12 people fighting to be #1
both main characters would rather not fight
both have a secondary character that goes kinda crazy
both have misplaced trust and betrayal
difference: Mai-HiME is heading more in the direction of shoujo
Mirai Nikki-12 candidates fight to become God.
The Law of Ueki-fighting to make your "God Candidate" God.
both having to do with participating in a game/tournament to decide who will become God......Mirai Nikki has a much more serious atmosphere and the characters have more phsycological problems
The Law of Ueki is Shounen
same animators Asread
and also shuffle! has a yandere girl who likes the main character kaede like yuno is jealous and has psychological sometimes violent issues as well as a dark past . yeah shes about as twisted as yuno the only difference is without the murders and gore..how do i say this? a milder version of yuno and with a different hair color. the theme is different theres nothing much similar aside from that one character comparison. so I'm just putting this out there for anybody who likes female characters who are similar to Yuno Gasai read more
Action, Supernatural, Thriller/Horror, Both anime contains the same genres, Both are a little bit brutal, (Even though on High School Of The Dead they killed zombies? Is that called a brutal?) No wonder, There are some blood shed, Action, Fighting, And I've seen some zombies in Mirai Nikki, Isn't that called a zombie? Or err, Just similar to zombie would be fine, One more thing, Both shows contains Mild Nudity. High School of the dead shows some porn? Or what, Just what they mean "Ecchi" And about the Mirai Nikki, I think less than?
Both involve games that directly affect the lives of the players. Also, the psychological part of both stories show how various characters think and act under pressure and in critical conditions. Both have strong female characters with unique personalities and obsessions.
The psychological tension is in both animes. Death parade i guess more. If you like psychological and plot twist animes i have to recommend Death Parade because it's really interesting , not quite similar to mirai nikki but I feel like the mood and theme is same.
In Death parade people are put into very tense situations and from that you can see mental breakdowns and more interesting ''events''.
Have fun watching it, Don't marathon it - Its more interesting 1-2 episodes a day!
Both revolve around the idea of diaries and the future; in Orange the MC keeps a diary which she uses to know the mistakes she made to tell her past self. In Mirai Nikki, the MC(s) use diaries that tell them of the future. Both revolve around this but present the idea in different ways; I'd recommend watching both!
If you thought the "Psychological" genre of Mirai Nikki was too much for you, Aoi Bungaku will blow you away with its in-your-face cruelty/madness. Though the entire series is good, the first arc is highly recommended is you are looking for Mirai Nikki-eque trauma.
I'm pretty sure that you know what I'm talking about if you watched mirrai nikki, and or RE:Zero up until episode 8. Don't get hyped, they are grate anime that especially RE:Zero, will make some fans rage.
Aldonah.Zero (the first and the second seasons) is the "INAHO!" to Mirai Nikki's "YUUKI!". Both anime revolve too much around one particular main (and not in a good way). Both MC's names are said waaaaayyyy too often, wherein the other characters just seems lost without them. Also, ACTION.
Tonally and in terms of the relationship between the leads, this is the closest I've found. A girl of two natures who is spooky and potentially dangerous becomes fixated on a nervous wreck of a boy who just wants to do the right thing. Whereas Mirai Nikki is interspersed with random bits of humor and lightness amidst the violence and dark themes, Tasogare starts out lighter in tone and gradually grows darker across the run of the series, eventually including that level of violence. However, the central focus on the unlikely romance between an adorable-yet-dangerous girl and a sweet guy who has to learn to cross some weird lines he's initially uncomfortable with remains a core component in both. read more
The main female protagonist got a crazy mind from her experienced terrible past in both shows,
is very good at fooling others to get her will and doesnt shy away from murder.
A crazy girl like out of a dream; I think that is really attractive.
Both shows are Hunger Games-esque series, where people from different walks of lives (with different sets of skills and talent) are pit against one another in order to win this mysterious game that they are a part of. Both shows have their fair share of action and mystery solving, and the last few episodes in both bring forward a twist that nobody could have possibly seen coming.
The biggest difference between the two is that Duan's MC is OP, while Mirai's MC is totally useless.
Warning: The MAL synopsis of Duan Nao gives away massive spoilers. I had reported that to the Mods, but ofc they didn't bother editing the description. read more
What makes the two series alike is that only a certain number of people posses something the majority does not have. In Mirrai Nikki it's the phones that the character in the show posses and the ability to know the outcome of future events. For Ajin, some characters posses immortality. While Mirrai Nikki's "God" literally gives a handful of people a survival game, for Ajin it is just survival and no "wish" would be granted to any of the characters ( although one or two of the characters in the anime make it seem like it is a game ).Furthermore both anime series makes you have a sense of uncertainty for the characters' personality and who the main character should really trust. read more
Aku no Hana starts out very imaginative like Deus Ex Machima where the flower grows from the person's mind. I love Aku no Hana's look much more though as it redeems itself for looking like true Japanese and the landscape of it is also realistic too. Mirai Nikki also has that eerie setting and plot along with Aku no Hana.
Both have a girl who is obsessed with a boy to the point where they consider their own life incomplete without him. They are constantly rude to those who they consider competition and will make it completely obvious to everyone else. There's a lot of love drama and denial from the boy despite their past history together. Both have escapes from the most life-threatening situations and jealousy. Love it!
Both of these anime have a dark twisted sense to it. At times you can actually feel a sense of urgency in both anime because both revolve around life or death situations. Katanagatari is about a guy who has to adjust to life around people; he discovers what it means to love. Being badass at the same time, he is trying to exterminate anyone who opposes his quest to retrive the last 12 legendary swords forged by the greatest sword-smith who ever lived. One more thing: he fights these sword wielders barehanded. o_O The relationships of the main characters are almost built on the same aspects (aside from the O.C.D.) Katanagatari has long episodes, but if you don't mind that, you will definitively appreciate both writing styles and enjoy the overall plot of both these anime. :D read more
both have strong romance elements
both have cycological elements
Bakemonogatari is more supernatural but mirai niki is more thriller
same kind of artwork
Both really good anime if you like romance action
Bakemonogatari is more like a harem whereas mirai niki is one girl only
I strongly recommend both as they always keep you wanting more!
both have do or die or kill before you get killed situations.
both the main characters share same thoughts while they are scared or frighting .
both have many people betraying the main character.
both have somebody conducting the survival games.
both have Game, Thriller genre.
both the main character blame themself for being a loser.
both get same feeling while watching them and get exited to watch next episode.
both the main character have lost interest in life .
both have a secret organization .
both have secret identity and have meeting with face covered.
both are Action, Mystery and Shounen .
both series take place in school.
both have some enemy character supporting the main character .
both have a game setup by someone for the main character
Darker Than Black and Mirai Nikki have a similar type of feel when you're watching them. They both have unique plots as well. In both Darker Than Black and Mirai Nikki, there are people trying to kill people while others try to protect them.
What makes these two shows similar are the two main characters: Yuno in Mirai Nikki and Amira in Rage Of Bahamut. These two are what makes each of these respective shows interesting, because of their amazing character, and also, their cute looks. But remember that no two shows are exactly the same, they are both good in their own ways. I hope you found this recommendation helpful, thank you.

Amazing storyline going thru 50 episodes and the ending is perfect the mighty finale what have been twisting and thightening 48 revial to the truth and to the future.
There is an abnormal and obsessive love for someone, in Mirai Nikki Yuno for Yukki and in Sankarea the father of Rea for her, you will think that kind of love is not normal in both anime, if you want to see a crazy and obsessive love I recommend both.
Mirai Nikki is higher in that and darker and Sankarea has dark setting too but with more comedy and romance.
Both feature a battle royale setting, where several characters fight eachother to death for one goal. These characters are aided by a third party in both cases as well. This makes for quite a similiar atmosphere in both shows.
Let's see here:
-Both shows have a lot to deal with supernatural themes
-Both can get rather extreme at times (although this happens more in Mnemosyne than in Mirai Nikki)
-Both have a female lead who is associated with the show (Yuno Gasai in Mirai Nikki, Rin Asogi in Mnemosyne)
-Both happen to have at least one female character who has "god" powers in a way (Mnemosyne has Rin Asogi and Mimi; I can't say who the characters are in Mirai Nikki without spoiling them, but if you've seen Mirai Nikki, you'll know who I'm referring to)
-Both are really scary and violent
Both aren't for the light-hearted and fairly deep plots.
Very sci-fi centered themes.
Psycho-Pass has a future and adult based setting whereas Mirai Nikki is more of a present, fictional and (slight) high school setting.
Psycho-Pass is, however, superior.
Both leave you wondering why something happened in most episodes and have unexpected series of events. The female character is a mystery in both of them.
Mirai Nikki doesn't look as good as Gode Geass but it is really interesting
The main male characters in both of these series, are being protected by a main female character, who is described as beautiful, smart, and really powerful. The male character was caught in a dangerous situation where they almost get killed through various means. However, whenever a boy is in danger, the girl steps in and protects him at all cost, eradicating anyone who tries to kill the boy, even if its too reckless. The boy is portrayed as being weak but slightly improve his power as the series progress through.
Mirai Nikki follows a boy who are caught up in a death game, and is being protected by a yandere girl. Witch Craft Works follows a boy who is being targeted by enemy witches, and is being protected by an emotionless girl. read more

Just like Mirai Nikki, Kiseijuu has a lot of gore and bloody scenes, the plot is original and the graphic is awesome just like Mirai Nikki. Both animes have unexpected turns of situation. Also, you may like that little drib of romance inside it that makes the character grow little by little.
- both anime talks about group of people who fight to beat each other in order to make their wishes comes true , in mirai nikkie they fight to be God and In wixoss they fight to be Eternal Girl so they can make their wishes.
- both anime are psychological.
Same feeling of helpless excitement/tension. Both bring a certain sense of relief when things go right and a feeling of dread when it goes wrong. MCs are a lot alike too. Helpless at first but well rounded and tactical later on.
