Hitori Bocchi suffers from extreme social anxiety, she's not good at talking to people, takes pretty extreme actions, is surprisingly adept at avoiding people, her legs cramp when she overexerts herself, gets full of herself when alone, will vomit when exposed to extreme tension and often comes up with plans. Now she is entering middle school and her only friend, Yawara Kai, is attending a different school. This leaves Bocchi alone, surrounded by new classmates with whom she must make friends before Kai will talk to her again.

Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu is the story of a first-year middle school girl trying her best, despite her social anxiety, to make friends.

While the show's theme is indeed social anxiety, don't worry - at no point does the show overwhelm you with cringy moments of the main character getting ridiculed after embarassing herself. The entire show is completely light-hearted in nature and will easily put a smile on your face.

If you're looking for a heartwarming slice of life show and the above premise sounds good to you, then by all means, watch this show. The strongest points here are the characters, which truly grow on read more

When I see a slice of life school anime, I first think what does this one offer. Most of the "good ones" go for the sad side of drama or complete comedy. Hitoribocchi does not go to any extreme side. It is just a great slice of life school anime with an interesting premise that it sadly does not deliver, but still it is a nice watch for other reasons.

Story 6/10
The weakest side of the anime, but it works just fine.A simplistic story that has a single thing making it stand more than just a mediocre story. The fact that the main character has extreme read more

Mind you, this type of anime usually fail to keep my attention. I was pleasantly surprised that Hitori Bocchi's Lifestyle went way beyond my expectations. And I dare say the best moe slice of life I have ever seen.

You know an anime is going to be fun when their main character is named Hitori Bocchi (meaning solitary and alone in Japanese). Without revealing too much, it's a light hearted story about the social conquest of a very shy girl in overcoming her anxiety.

So is the plot particularly interesting or unique? No- admittedly a lackluster premise. But fret not, the magic lies in how a read more

There! I just saved you from 92 minutes (4 episodes) of nothingness…Go on, now. Spend your time wisely and watch a decent anime. No need to read the rest of this review.

………..(you disappoint me).

Transitioning to a different school is difficult, especially for socially inept individuals like Bocchi. Combine this with her obsessive, maladroit behavior, and it’s inevitable to catalyze embarrassing situations. By harnessing Bocchi’s embarrassment, Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu attempts to deliver laughter to the audience, yet it is anything but. The crux of read more
