Synopsis

After a month abroad, the Foreign Expedition Team has returned to the Japan U-17 training camp. The group consists of 20 players, each with strength and technique that far surpasses those who occupy the camp's top court. In anticipation of the team's arrival, the coaches announce that 20 of the best players would be selected for further training. Tension begins to rise when only high school students are chosen to participate, but the middle school students challenge the players who possess the 11th to 20th positions to steal their places.

With the delayed appearance of the "Genius 10," the middle school students begin scheming among themselves to claim those spots as well. Unlikely pairings start to work together, combining their efforts to defeat the top 10 players of the country. It is a battle of wits, deception, and skill—all for the privilege of representing Japan at the U-17 World Cup.

Warning: This is not tennis.

If you've watched the original Prince of Tennis, you'll definitely see how crappy the New PoT is.

Prince of Tennis is one of the best franchise in Japan. The reason why this series got a lot of adoptions is because of how high their sells are. Even I cannot believe how many the tenipuri fans are. As long as the anime sells, they'll make a new adoption. Not concerned if it 's good or not. And in our case, it is not.

In this series, tennis isn't even tennis anymore. They introduced a lot of violent techniques. A glowing shot that ... damages the court and can tear a water tank down. There was even a fight where you can see a pirate like wtf isn't this supposed to be tennis? Most of the matches aren't even thrilling. I hate how the producers skipped and altered a lot of scenes/chapters from the manga. The supposed to be fun part aren't in the anime. What the hell are the producers thinking?!

And the most disappointing part is that how come the Pinnacle of Perfection is being achieved by many. Isn't Teni Muhō supposed to be the top of the top? In the ORIGINAL PoT, Ryoma did achieve the Teni Muhō and his skills were unbelievable. The ball cannot be seen and the opponent can't even score a single point. But in the New Prince of Tennis, this is not the case. Teni Muhō is now just an achievement you'll attain when you enjoy tennis. I'll give them the credit if they made the matches more interesting but no. The matches is the New PoT are boring. It doesn't matter if you enter Teni Muhō or not. What matter in this series is how you'll survive in the match. What an unbelievable tennis.

Since this is an OVA, and judging how disappointing its prequel is, I did not expect anything from it. But let me just say that this series... is definitely better than its prequel. However, the story is very misleading. There are many scenes in the manga that the anime didn't adopt. Which lead to bad pacing, ridiculous opinions, and bad character development. Tenipuri has a lot of characters and 10 episodes can't possibly give significance to even at least ten characters.

The art is expected. Production I.G did a good job. They raised a lot of beautiful bishounens (especially Fuji damn he looked so hot). I thank you for that. I love the sound as well. The opening was okay but I find the ending song cute and adorable. I even pre ordered the "Party Time" album cause the characters are so cute!

Nevertheless, I really enjoyed watching this anime. I'm a solid PoT fan, you see. And I love watching them go cray with their matching oozing sex appeals. Fan service isn't bad once in a while, he. Tenipuri fans will definitely enjoy this OVA but as for the others... I don't know. It will depend on your taste if you'll give it a try or not. In the end, I still enjoyed watching how the characters fight for their death. This anime still has a lot of interesting stuff and I love the manga. I just hope the sequel will be more interesting than the first season.

This is my first review and what would be more perfect than reviewing the continuation of one of my favourite sports anime of all time? There won't be any major spoilers in this review.
~Story~
Comparing to the bare bones storyline of New Prince of Tennis, this story is slightly better but still quite boring. They're still in the training camp doing training camp things but they have a shuffle match against the first strings (basically all of them are overpowered as hell) who have just returned and that's it. Literally it. Still lacking but good enough i guess. 5/10
~Art~
Looks good. People move ok enough although ... I still think that sometimes the overhead shots of rallies lack power and simply look like weak. That's an issue i've had with the animation of this series for quite a while, the balls lack what looks like momentum, they lack punch. It's been a minor annoyance with me since the beginning of the series but hey, it's pretty good nonetheless. 7/10
~Sound~
Well it's pretty good. Though literally everything was taken from the previous series. The sound effects sound great and somewhat makeup for the lack of power mentioned previously. Overall pretty nice, it works, doesn't particularly excel at anything but still doesn't lack anything. 7/10
~Character~
Now here's an issue that plagues the series in general. The issue with the series is that it tends to focus on too many characters so many characters lack development severely well in this case that's addressed quite well. Many characters both lack development and screentime but the ones that get screen time tend to have subtle changes done to them. But in the end character interactions are still pretty entertaining. 7/10
~Enjoyment~
It was fun to watch. It was just like the other series in the way it was just fun to watch, there's no real way to explain it but it was just a good solid fun watch from beginning to end and sets up a real nice dynamic by the end of the series that will be expanded on (hopefully) when there is enough chapters to make a new OVA series on. 8/10
~OVERALL~
It was pretty nice. Yeah it wasn't the greatest thing i've seen, and it was pretty insane at some points i mean come on, ripping a hole in space by swinging is pretty stupid. But that's what this series as whole really is, it's stupid fun. You know it's exaggerated and almost impossible to do 90% of the moves done in the series but it's still a fun watch so I recommend any fans of the series in general to watch this, and any one who somehow stumbled onto this without prior knowledge to watch the original series or read the original manga then watch the National Tournament OVAs, The New Prince of Tennis then this. 7/10
