Well well, now i got around finish Utawareumono TV... (i played the game first though .p) But having finished it, i got to admit that after so many completed lovey-dovey blind-eyed-cant-admit-it-to-themselves romance and, excuse me, broken war stories i can not see it anymore...

Sure thats just my brabbling, but why do all these Anime's have to turn into some personal 1 on 1 affair at the end, and conclude completely unsatisfying? Not to mention for 26 episodes, little was explained, and even less was concluded.. AND it was a Happy-End... not only was it a happy end, but one that made completely no sense (2 equally strong gods unite again against the will of one? wth.. didnt they say that they can not be united against their will?)

Lets not mention the unrealistic war, where people bare handed go against an whole army (when a single arrow would kill them +.+) or where little, cute, but ultimatly useless girls drag along with an invasion force, doing nothing in the course of the whole Anime but cause trouble..

Lets not mention that the Imperial Capital is protected by wooden barricades and a kneedeep moat (they must have missed in school lessons about "how to build a castle" ) where half the towns building are clearly stone buildings, meaning they knew how to build them but were too lazy to build a stone wall around the most important town in a kingdom? Border checkpoints armed with 2 people or an extremely, and i do mean extremely, unrealistic war progress... peasents against trained and armored soldiers?

But then, comes the ultimate flaw of this anime, wars do not end just because kings die... Troops do never give up when they have the upperhand, and apparantly food is no problem in Tuskuro even though half the fields burned and nearly all major villages where pillaged. Not to mention that only the enemy seems to be susceptile to harrasing attacks on supply.. remind me, where do the supplies come from with all fields destroyed?

The anime doesnt lack gore though, but if you ask me if that makes it any cruel or dark i have to say, no. Alas, gore was so overused in some scenes, it was not scary it was just hillarious, so over-the-top, not to mention a women with no apparent muscles lifting a huge club, magic beeing used not as a weapon but only when it fits a scene, and the allmighty "peace bringers" apparantly all died in an instant, without even a fight, very impressive ;)

Last but not least, Character <strike>Developement</strike> lets see.. Aruruu, cute in the beginning, cute at the end, admited love at the finish but seemed unaffacted by the fact that gods probably sleep much longer than your average lifetime, thus making a promise that she can not keep ;) Even less affected emotionally... Cute but annoying.. no information about her past except *that* scene and her oath.. how handy you can skip out of demon' contracts that easily, maybe the Authors should have read Faust? ;)

Eruruu, simply useless throughout the anime, but cute.. no character development at all

Oboro.. we never heard anything about his past, hes still a stranger, a stranger that has 2 underaged girls with bows dragging along, who seem unaffacted by injuries or emotions (even more shallow characters)

Benawi.. a knight whos allegiance shifts as quickly as the war ends, not heard anything about his past, who he really is, why he helps the main character...

Ok, last words

I do not dislike this anime, and still rate it 8, for enjoyment.. but from a more philosophic and thoughtfull standpoint, where logic and character development are main points, Utawarerumono is simply too shallow for its own good..

/me goes back into hiding
