My tastes in terms of anime and manga.

Principally, I have a strong attraction towards stories occurring in a nearby or distant future, realistic or not, like science-fiction, or in the past, such as historical. The present is an eternal source of boredom. Humans must always look ahead to judge where they're going, sometimes behind for reminisce where they came from, but they should see absolutely no use to watch their feet. Living in the present is walking straight towards a wall you can't see coming.

I still watch and read almost any genre, expected things connected to eroticism even if from time to time I get a look at some works containing ecchi although it's not in my habits and clearly the genre I despise the most. I wouldn't say I literally hate all anime containing this kind of content, but I clearly don't like anime that seek to fill their poor scriptwriting by such scenes. This also goes for action anime. It's nothing about having pure anime or some other retarded virgin shit like that but I like my anime to be free of that if there's no real purpose for the scenario. There's more convenient places on the internet if I want to see these kind of things.

I believe that there isn't a genre I haven't yet experienced but you can always correct me if I'm wrong, it'd be much appreciated from you. And I usually take very well the criticism of other users even if their tastes differ from mine, but obviously, only if it's done in mutual respect of course. I'm probably one of the less dogmatic user that you will encounter here. I hope at least.

How I evaluate the shows I watch or the manga I read.

Sincerely, I'm not the kind of person who evaluate each and every anime and manga on every aspects of it. And most of the time, I don't do it because I think the majority of them don't deserve giving them so much attention anyway. I believe that we should still see anime and manga more as entertainment instead of some kind of contemporary art, even though I could probably have long debates about it with many of you. So most of the time I base my marks on my general appreciation of the work, even if most of the time I judge almost everything in a very rational way.

For cons, I am of course able to tell the difference between the overall quality of a work and the enjoyment I get out of it. You can be sure that even if I don't analyze everything in details, this isn't the only thing I consider. But I often think I should do it in the right way, analyzing every other aspects correctly, but I'm mostly too lazy and always putting it off until later. But we never know what the future may bring, maybe one day I'll get out of this procrastination and let you enjoy plenty of reviews.

But to conclude on this aspect, even if I don't do a personal work of it, I think I still rate the works that I watch or read in a fairly objective way, which often conclude in giving low ratings compared to the standard of other users of this site. But unlike those arrogant pseudo-intellectual morons that I came accross through the years, all my rates are legitimate and really represents what I think of the works, and aren't an attempt to seem cultured or superior to anyone's eyes. I actually use the full-scale rating fo my own use, and not with any bad intentions. I would love to say that I'm doing this to help and guide others in their anime choises but as you can see I'm not well-known enough on this site, but if only one user would be able to discover a great anime or avoid a bad one thanks to me, I would be very pleased.

But in the end, it doesn't really bother me if you don't like me or even hate me because of my ratings but you aren't obliged to expose it by harshly criticizing me that I'm wrong to give a low score to something you like, or even because I gave an excellent rating to something you dislike. I hope this isn't your case, since we need as most open-minded people as possible on this site, something that we clearly lack.

It may seem excessive to explain all of this but as we all know, anime is serious business!

Useless information about me you don't really need to know.

There are countless things I could tell you about me but I'll start with the main topic of this website, which I hope you still remember. First of all I must tell you that I don't like to represent myself as an anime fan. I'm not saying this to be rude but if you admit such a thing in public, a lot of people would premuse that you're a young immature dumbass only watching mindless fan service and shonen battle shows, or even thinking that you may be a socially retarded weeaboo always talking about how Japan is the most superior country of the world. And there are even worst things that I just won't talk about. I wish I could tell them that they only are stereotypes but this is unfortunately what the anime fandom is often up to. So in the end, I prefer to keep to myself the fact that I watch anime, but it has nothing to do about being judged, I just prefer to keep my energy for more useful things, by not having to defend a fandom with such a bad reputation. I will simply continue to anonymously watch anime and only trustworthy longtime friends will be aware.

Alternatively, I could also talk about the origin of my username. Corleone. But to not linger too long, the only thing I will tell you about it is that I didn't choose such a name because I'm one of those who likes a little too much Francis Ford Coppolla adapations of Mario Puzo's novels. I don't discredit anything to these brave men and their great works but I don't really like those who think they know everything about organized crime because they saw a few movies, without even knowing it comes from a novel. If you really want to educate yourself, as a good start, you should read John Dickie's book about the Sicilian Cosa Nostra, or even reading Mario Puzo's novels would be a very good decision.

And if you actually still need other useless facts about me, I'm currently studying litterature while being an apprentice novelist doing everything possible to combine part-time work, studies, relationships and personal projects. I also have an emerging and growing passion for astronomy. On my more redneck side, I could also say that I'm a big fan of motorsports in general, but more concentred about rallying. I love cars since my early childhood partly thanks to my uncle which is the owner of a mechanical garage. Otherwise, I also like many sports that aren't related to motors. I play baseball since I'm kid and boxing since my teenage years and they are still a big part of my interests, which can be obviously seen in my anime and manga favorites. My province is also very well-known to have a lot of hockey maniacs but I never been really fond of this sport.

Other than that, if you made it so far in this shitload of texts, maybe you're curious about how I look like. This is me from a couple months ago. Sorry if I may be ugly from your standards, it isn't deliberate. And if you're even more curious, this is effectively a dreamcatcher behind me. This shit hangs from the ceiling from my room at my parents home for at least the last ten years and I'm still wondering why it's still there. It was from when I was a superstucious and stupid kid afraid of nightmares. And if you're not disgusted enough, let me just say that this picture deliberately hide the fact that I have cauliflower ears, even if it's not that bad. Probably the only inconveniant I met trough practicing boxing.

I will add more later... Probably. I need to think about it.
