Summer '09 Review...

Since the summer season of anime is almost over. :| And 'cause I'm bored with Nodame right now... >_> Alphabetical order: ~Bakemonogatari: I'm 10 episodes in, and it's really been great so far. It's kinda awkward and stuff at times, but I love tat aspect of it, and if I were to ever make an anime of my own, this would be the style of it. Story's pretty cool too. Characters are nice as well, and the VA'ing is good. I'd give this either a 9 or a 10 so far. It's my 3rd favorite show of the season. ~CANAAN: Honestly, I found this pretty boring at a lot of parts. It just confused me a lot, and that rarely happens. I can't forget why I watched it in the first place, though. Canaan's hawt. :| Imo, it'll probably get an 8 from me. ~Dragon Ball Kai: Continued from Spring. This filler-free re-watch is really getting good. Freeza's got the best arc, and it's all being played through now. The VA's seem to have gotten better to where they're all becoming recognizable. Anyway, this is really getting good. It gets a 9 so far. ~Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: Continued from Spring. This is way better than the original, imo. Everything lately has just been epic. A few slow episodes here and there, but the battles lately have just been awesome. It's getting a 9 so far. ~Needless: This show had me hooked from the very first episode, and I always want more. Shame it's only 24 episodes, though. They should make it like One Piece and give it 400+, but that'd mean they'd have to add millions of characters, so maybe that wouldn't be too good of an idea. Either way, show's betchin'. It's got a 10 from me so far, and was my first favorite series of Summer. Now it's my second favorite. ~Spice and Wolf II: This is just as epic as season one. The characters and supporting characters all have so much charm to them. Mark from the first six episodes of this was a damn good supporting character. The whole first arc was crazy, dealing with my favorite part of this series, being the merchant trades and haggling and such. It's really awesome to watch these things play out. Screw the love story within it all, though. :| It's either got a 9 or 10 so far, 'cause it's just that epic. ~The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2: :| Is there much more I can say to describe the failure that is Endless Eight? No. It got a 4 from me. Honestly, I should've gave it less. ~Umineko no Naku Koro ni: While it doesn't have the biggest impact on people, it's still a nice watch. There's a lot of people who don't like this, so I don't know why they still watch it. Sure, it's over the top sometimes, but it's okay. So far, I'd give it an 8 or 9. ~Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: After watching all of the previous installments over the summer as well, I realized that this one was the absolute best. Holy crap, Zetsubou Sensei... It's awesome. Every episode leaves you wanting more, everyone's more crazy this time around, the styles are awesome, and all of the characters... you can't help but love all of them. This is awesome. It's by default a 10 for me. It's amazing, and my #1 anime of the season. Let me try and remember all the other things I watched this season: Baccano! Baccano! OVA Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion Full Metal Panic! Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu Ga-Rei -Zero- Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei Kurokami Kurokami - Intermission Special Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Neon Genesis Evangelion Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Sengoku BASARA Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Movie: Gurren-hen Toradora! Trigun Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei A few of these might have been back in spring, but if they were, it was very close to summer. Now I'm watching Nodame Cantabile... Anyway, I wonder if the fall season will bring something that can top Bakemonogatari, Needless and Zan SZS. =) Darker than BLACK 2, perhaps? >_> I can't wait for that.

Trying to watch a lot of anime at once

I'm trying to do that, because I'm gonna be going to Boston on June 26th, so I wanna finish up some things first. I've been loving Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I think it's gonna be really great to keep watching, but I wanna finish it by June 25. As of the time I'm writing this, I'm eight episodes in, and since I'm gonna be watching Excel Saga two episodes per day, I'm gonna watch this primarily on Saturdays and Sundays. Excel Saga got better, but I'm not sure if it's anything spectacular to me or not. It seems like time flies when I'm watching NGE, but when I watch an episode of Excel Saga, it kinda drags the time on and on. I'll admit, it does have its moments, but I guess I just can't really get into it. I'm totally watching it for the ending. Also, I've been slowly trying to watch Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Second Series, but I need to speed that up a little. It seems like the worlds will go by faster, and I like the new art style of this anime. I noticed some changes, that's all. I've also just started Big O Season 2 back up. It's really a good show, but I'm distracted from watching that with all this other anime I've been watching, but that's okay. I need to finish Excel Saga first. I need to get the least appealing things done with first. So, yeah, I'm very excited about Gundam 00 Season 2 on Sci-Fi. That's gonna be awesome. I love the original, and I'm sure that it's sequel will be just as good, if not better. After that, I may look into Gundam SEED, and possibly Turn A. But I still wanna watch Hayate the Combat Butler, so Gundam might have to wait. I wonder when Darker Than BLACK 2 comes out. That'll be so awesome. Seriously, I can't wait. And, other stuff too. I get out of 8th grade next week for summer. I'm glad I get to leave. This was probably the worst year of school I ever had, mostly because most of my friends turned into jerks. Real jerks. I'm glad I still had some good friends, though. And, my high school isn't across town, so when I go into 9th grade, I'll have a whole bunch of friends I've known for years. That'll be good, it'll be a less stressful year indeed. Hmm... I should try to get another chapter of my fanfic out before the 26th. I'd have to give up a few nights of anime, and I'd have to force the ideas upon me. I've got writer's block. After 28 chapters, I finally have it. There's 22 left, and a possible spin-off. Posting one whole chapter a day in the beginning was crazy. That was all I did all night at home. My parents said I was on the computer too much, as always. I know I am, but it's just so capable of getting rid of stress. I wanna see Transformers 2 already. T_T

Thoughts of a few anime I'm watching now

Okay... I'm bored, and I'm finally starting this because I'm bored. Bleach has been really good, lately. I'm glad that the fillers are finally over. The Arrancar arc has failed to disappoint me. I have been spoiled up to Chapter 350 something of the manga, but that was on my own free will. It kinda sucks that I know what's gonna happen, but I have to face the fact that I spoiled myself as I do with a lot of shows and games. So, yeah, Bleach has been epic lately. I think Ikkaku's becoming a favorite. His battle and back story was fantastic. It's been a good few weeks for Bleach as of late. I hope to see more of Ulquiorra, though. Dragon Ball Kai has been sorta good. I mean, it's your typical Dragon Ball Z. None of the scenes were redrawn, and the HD is way unnoticeable, but hey, the fillers are cut, and that's good enough for me. They're only on the eighth episode, and Vegeta and Nappa are already in the city, with the Saibamen fight coming in episode nine. My only real, real complaint about this s that the voice acting is terrible. I really dislike the cast of this. Yajirobi sounds like a freaking four year-old. Good stuff, action-packed, well, next episode is, but bad VAs. There's one or two that stand out, but for the most part, the VAs are the least enjoyable part of Dragon Ball Kai. Excel Saga's been pretty lame, I have to say, but I'm only four episodes in, and I've heard a few good things about this show and it's insane finale. I'll continue to watch, but I really haven't found it funny yet, even if the fourth episode was played out like a dating sim game. I really don't find the characters likable, and I don't care much for the art style, but I'm not gonna drop this. I made a promise to one of my best friends that I'd watch it. It's bland so far, it's not funny, but from what I've heard, it will get better, and I'm not gonna drop this series. I love the opening theme, though. K-ON! is probably my favorite of the spring anime, because it's nice, funny, and a relaxing thing to watch after a long day of school. Each of the characters are fantastic and funny, especially Ritsu, my favorite character, and Yui. Mio's awesome too. She's kinda like the Miyuki of K-ON!. Mugi's nice too. She supplies cake and tea and she's rich. But seriously, that show is awesome. The worst part is that it's only thirteen episodes long. I hope they make a season two eventually. It's got great characters, nice pacing, and a good story. I like it a lot, and the VAs are incredible. I recently finished Darker Than BLACK, which was a great series for character development, while still keeping you entertained with lots of action. It's not like Moribito, where a lot of the character development is quiet and calm, but this show sticks new characters, and a new story into every two episodes. It executes the development perfectly, and keeps the two-episode arcs going, and colliding with the actual plot of the show. It's epic, awesome, and you wanna know more and more about the characters each and every episode. A few of the characters like Huang and Yin, have some interesting back stories. It was exciting, and it even has a one-episode OVA, which is comedic for the most part. The problem I'm having right now, is that I'm trying to figure out if I should watch Naruto Shippuuden, or delete it from my list. Yes... I delete, I don't drop. The only other series I deleted was Blue Gender, and I was only one episode in. I just get a little obsessive and want my "Dropped" section to have nothing on it. Anyway, I'm gonna be out of eighth grade in a few weeks, and I wanna try to at least finish a few series over summer, while not regretting that I may have wasted some precious vacation time. I need to divide my schedule up so I can feel good about my vacation. Summer break only comes around once a year.
