First of all, Astarotte no Omocha! is labeled an Ecchi but it truly isn't. There are a few bath scenes and such, however that's pretty much it. Less than five scenes I think and a lot of other anime have that many scenes yet aren't labeled Ecchi. Now... let's start.
Story - 7
The story is actually quite original and unexpectedly odd, however there are many predictable moments as this anime reuses the same boring humour/humor and ideas over and over again, leaving the story boring after a while. Why do I give it a seven? Well, like I said, the story is original. We have the succubus thing in this anime, which isn't actually all that original, right? It's used more in hentai than television anime after all, so many people may not know that this is actually fairly common. I imagine there are quite a few manga out there with succubus stories as well. However, the story isn't entirely about a succubus, rather the succubus thing is just an excuse for our protagonist, Naoya, to enter this other world. So now, we have the "protagonist enters another world" thing going on. Two common ideas, right? Well, it's true those are the main ideas, however there are a few plot twists and unexpected things that happen in this anime, which I can't say for spoilers, which actually make the story fairly original. The story is basic, but unusual, which is good. Unusual is definitely good.
Art - 10
I can't really find many faults with the art, not that I ever can anyway... Good art, though I personally don't find the art all that important anyway...
Sound - 9
I would have given the sound a ten but... some of the OSTs are so god damn quiet that I honestly thought it was something outside. Well, part of it could be that I watch and listen to everything on one volume, but honestly, for those who turn the volume up, it was so quiet that it would probably hurt their ears to listen to the actual voice acting of the characters... Other than that, the sound was quite good. Great voice acting, good-quality music and decent effects... nothing else to complain about.
Character - 7
Well, let's see... the character...
First of all, the character development. We have the usual one girl coming after another routine here and quite normal character development. Well, for the most part. There was quite an odd character development which was rather interesting, I must admit. The way the protagonist just carried on after that particular scene was rather stupid though. Now, the characters themselves...
Our protagonist, Naoya, is a kind, gentle and helpful character, a common type of protagonist in romance anime... however his past is definitely questionable from the start and is ridiculous. I don't even know where to start, so I'll move on. Now we have our main heroine, the princess Lotte... who is just... the typical loli tsundere with the same voice actress who plays only ever other loli tsundere in existence, as well as that one loli who isn't a tsundere from Dragon Crisis!... the character development is generally normal here, along with everyone else and so besides the unexpected part I keep talking about, there's nothing interesting here.
Enjoyment - 5
I'm sorry, I could not enjoy this series a whole lot. The same humour/humor being used over and over was ridiculously boring and it was an excruciating pain to finish the anime because Naoya didn't change after that ridiculous part I have mentioned time and time again. At first, it was enjoyable. Especially for lolicons, this would be great. We have a cute princess, the common short and gentle protagonist so it looked alright. An anime about succubi too, which isn't that common, in fact I've only watched two others that even had succubi in them... which were Rosario + Vampire and Goshuushou Sama Ninomiya-Kun... so I thought this would have been fun. Then, as I progressed into the ridiculous plot, which again, is quite original, I began to become bored. The plot is ridiculous, and it would have been an enjoyable one too, if it weren't for the way this anime feels like something made for kids the age of seven half of the time. Like I've talked about the humour/humor before, it is repeated over and over. However, not only that, but the humour/humor is suited more for children, when the story itself isn't. I mean, we've got our characters talking about blowjobs when the humour/humor itself is only stuff like "our jackass rival for the girl (princess Lotte) fails again and again because he's stupid" and that's just great. If this were a show made FOR seven year old children, WITH a seven year old story.
This is not a bad show, however the humour/humor is terrible (in my opinion) and repetitive. If you don't mind repetitive humour/humor and you don't dislike or hate lolita shows, then this you will probably enjoy this. More than I did at least. I definitely recommend it for those hardcore lolicons.
