Miman Renai (Manga) add
Klabautermann
Seinen is a beautiful genre. Sadly not as common as ecchi or shoujo, but definitely most wonderful of them all - be it because of its more mature approach to certain elements of life that don't necessarily have to include chibitastic characters and already long since worn out "new" ideas, or the fact it is more than often quite original. Miman Renai is one such example of a successful seinen story.

Naturally, one would think that a man almost old enough... well actually, DEFINITELY old enough to be her father, falling for a 13-year-old is a variety of things such as unacceptable, disgusting, unnatural, pedophilia-alarming and allover in need of dialing the 911.

So then, what happens when such a man actually truly falls IN love with such a young character on such an awesomely romantic level that has nothing to do with her age or body? We get a cute little and completely wacky love story, of course! So you definitely don't have to worry about loli/ecchi stuff in this one. Need I remind you that this is seinen. They take their hilarious plot seriously, no pantsu included.

As for the artsy bit, it is surprisingly good - quite messy at times, but all is fair in characterization through art, or something along those lines. It thankfully lacks the shapeless designs we tend to call "original characters", while they're pretty much pulled out of the textbooks. No such thing here! Not to mention, we were blessed with quite detailed surroundings and scenery. Kudos for that wonderful effort!

Characters themselves are... quite different. Their interactions are very fun to watch, but I'll admit, at times, it seems a bit forced. It is hardly anything big enough to ruin your enjoyment, but still, it's there. Just sayin'.
Our hero.... well, we pretty much got him covered, but is he an enjoyable character? If you like comedy, I'm sure he will be. Plus, some might like his rugged out design that looks like he just crawled out of bed - similar goes for his personality.
The female protagonist is a bit typical of a school girl, but she's thankfully not a whiny brat like most of them tend to be, nor does she jumps to conclusions right away, like most shoujo-tastic heroines do. She is quite a refreshing sight, in fact. One of the rare young heroines I genuinely like.

The final grade? A very sweet, very funny romantic read that will surely melt your heart into a puddle; or at least provide you with many good laughs if you're not too much of a love-lover. Recommended with all of my feels.
