Story (9/10) Great
The Story for Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo is simple but great. It starts off real slice of life-ish but obviously by the name of the anime movie you get into the meat of the story and it left the mystery of why she can do it hidden for a good amount of time before explaining how she can do it and where it came from. I appreciate that it explained those type of things because I've seen too many stories that'll just have it in there just for the sake of it and have it occur for plot convenience only, although all of them do it for that very reason but this didn't feel forced (Like Kimi No Nawa, Re: Zero and Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi).
Art and Animation (9/10) Great
The art style and animation were both great, although I don't think it was anything mind blowing it's great for a 2006 anime movie. Some scenes were flat out amazing and some were just meh, sometimes the movement of the characters did feel vaguely sloppy but it was no where near enough to complain about but it did leave enough on me not to give this section a 10 none the less it's still great.
Sound (8/10) Very Good
I watched this anime in english dub so the voice acting was very good on everyone. I felt all of the characters matched the voice actors they got for the role. The background music didn't have anything outstanding and didn't have anything that felt misplace or horrible so I'm neutral when it comes to that.
Characters (9/10) Great
The characters were great in this anime movie. All of the characters that got somewhat of a spot light, I felt somewhat connected to which is a good thing. A lot of series these days can't make me give a care about anyone but the main character a maybe like 3 others most of the time. All of them felt real and likable so if any of them were in any danger (which they were) I definitely wanted them to be okay which means you've done a good job at making me care about the current cast.
Enjoyment (10/10) Outstanding
For anime movies I'll definitely say this has to be one of my favorites I've watched in a long time. At first I wasn't really feeling it, I mean we know what the movie is called so up until she did it for the first time I was just waiting in anticipation for when it would occur. And yeah we can predict what the entire plot, girl gets ability, girl abuses ability, girl makes her life better or more convenient for her to live in, something bad happens, girl loses ability, girl gets ability back and somewhat fixes everything. Although I've said in the past I do not like a story that I can predict, what I do not like even more is the execution of said predictable plot and the explanation behind said story driven plot, if that's trash to me then my overall impressions and enjoyment can be tainted. The said story plot will leave a bad taste in my mouth and the three anime I named in the story section all fell guilty to that this flaw.
Overall (9/10) Great
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo was an extremely enjoyable anime movie and if I made a top 10 favorite anime movies I know this would be somewhere in it. The execution of the plot is what I think the best thing about the movie and also the explanation behind the supernatural ability. Explanation behind time manipulation powers or any supernatural abilities in movies like this most of the time go missing and never explained and that drives me insane to no end, this didn't do that. Anyway this is a great movie and I'm glad I took the time to watch it because time waits for no one!
