Preliminary (Unknown/61 chp)
I'm not going in great detail on all of this, but I'll give you the basics and the feel of the story so don't expect much.
When I first started reading Sugar Soldier I found it really refreshing although the plot is nothing unique and neither is its characters or its plot. I found the male lead refreshing, but only for like the first few chapters and I'll do my best not to spoil anything so if slight hints bother you then don't bother reading for your own good.
Our main character Makoto has always been overshadowed by her older sister to the point where its ridiculous cause they look just alike aside from their hair.. anyways this year she's made the decision to try her best to become more cute so she can stand on her own two feet without being compared to her sister and the male lead decided to support her, she falls for him, and you can guess how that works out.
I particularly like the male lead in the beginning because he was really refreshing and wasn't the usual dark past angry type, tsundere, slightly perverted, or any of our cliche male leads. He was just a really nice well rounded and good looking person, but that was only for a little while, but trust me he irritated me, but he's still a good person in the end. For the main character she's your usual try my best, clumsy, no common sense, I'll make him like me, kind hearted heroine... yeahs she's not very three dimensional you could say, but her extreme insecurity is a new.
The art is your usual well done, cute, shoujo art. it's not unique at all, but I think you still find yourself liking it.
I enjoyed reading it and as I always say the enjoyment of a manga depends on its reader cause if you handed this to a wrestler and asked him how much he enjoyed it the book would probably get thrown back at you... unless he's a secret otaku!!! O.o lol but no it works the same way with me if you handed me a horror manga I'd burn it and give it a negative 500 so yeah enjoyment depends on who's reading.
Overall I give it aaaaa 7.5 optimism, try it, it helps you to enjoy things better, but overall I must say this isn't at all a realistic manga with a hard to guess interesting plot it's your typical shoujo but typicals can be enjoyable as well.
