Both of these mangas have a considerable amount of gambling involves and putting your life on the line to either go deeply in debt or walk out a millionaire... They also contain alot of physiological warfare which will doubts all of your senses.

because of debts, both mains get sucked into a game held by a mysterious company. in both games, they can win a lot of money at the expense of others by gambling and lying, but most of all by ingenious strategy and tactics.
in kaiji, the main is a male bum. in liar game, the main is a girl honest to the bone. both seem sure to fail, but of course it takes many chapters to find out if they do =)
Both have essentially the same premise, involving a shady corporation setting up crazy gambles that can be won through psychological manipulation. Kaiji has far higher stakes however, with lives and body parts often on the line, and features more one-on-one games while Liar Game is more about group games.

Both Gambling manga about characters in deep debt trying to get out of it with psychological games, usually unique games made exclusively for each series.
Struggles dealing with gambling. The MC at first is not capable of rationally thinking about how to find the path to win, however (s)he becomes more clever after being in risky and difficult situations that might have led to their doom.
*Expect an enormous amount of tension, twists and betrayal.
<>Whereas Kaiji is more or less on his own to tackle the issues, Nao most of the times has Shinichi in close proximity, so they can discuss and exchange plans.
