Both shows bring out the best humor anime has to give. Both shows are very funny but also tell a story. All things done have a deeper meaning behind them and lots of emotion.

Odd jobs trio takes care of your problem, sometimes through laughing and fun and other times by tugging at your heartstrings. SKET Dance creator (Shirohara) is a former assistant of Gintama's creator (Sorachi). It's therefore not surprising to see Sorachi-sensei's influence in SKET Dance. Comedy styles are similar. SKET Dance and Gintama' also have crossover episodes.
report Recommended by CookieBun
both have same comedy and have a group of ppl helping those in need !!! also Shinohara-sensei was Sorachi-Sensei's Assistant for a while so u can expect the same style from him.also both of them are from Shounen Weekly Jump...

Trio of odd jobs, characters that are very unique and gags that surely make you laugh! Plus, numerous parodies of other anime! Both are hilarious in their own way and the proof is the genius script (and lines) which are not a total waste. If you love one of them, try watching the other~

In the SKET Dance there is an organization which is similar to Yorozuya in Gintama Series and it has the same crazy atmosphere and few seiyu, who's working in Gintama.
report Recommended by aaa22
Similarities: Sarcastic, Parodies that breaks the 4th wall, High detailed animation. Some costumers are usually a plot device to the story. Differences: Themes (School & Feudal Japan), settings. More drama no or less action.

very funny, the main characters are also doing odd jobs Kazuyoshi's VA is the same with Gintama's main character (Gintoki) if you want something random, I recommend you watch this anime.
report Recommended by Yorozuya-GIN
The three main characters are very similar, and they do almost the same job, help people with whatever they request. Also both series are focused on comedy, but Gintama is way better than Sket Dance.
report Recommended by Raizhen
Both shows are about a 3-man group who'd do anything asked to them. Plus Kenta Shinohara, mangaka of Sket Dance, is the assistant of Hideaki Sorachi, the author of Gintama.
report Recommended by zetsuboSensei
If you love odd jobbers, you will definitely love SKET Dance! Basically, SKET Dance is Gintama in school format and not perverted as Gintama. I recommend this to all Gintama fans and school-related anime fans out there!
report Recommended by Fiji
Although sket has a different setting than gintama both are gag animes with tons of fun and 4th wall breaking scenes!

A lot of people say sket dance is the school version of gintama, and that's kinda true. Main characters: Both have 3 main characters, 2 guys and 1 girl. In both of them a guy started their odd jobber group and the others joined later. Style: The envirement is a bit different, because in sket dance they are in a school and help studens with odd jobs and things like that. In gintama they are in a city were there are different orginizations and people they help ( Shinsengumi, Joi and aliens). SKET Dance creator (Shirohara) is a former assistant of Gintama's creator (Sorachi-sensei). It's therefore not surprising to   read more

Mang, if you didnt watch this yet, gtf out of here and go watch It's just the second best anime you gonna watch in your life, One Piece is the first ofc. Well, its pretty much a insane Sket Dance in the good old days You cannot watch a single episode and dont laugh or cry, or both (me every episode). Sket Dance: - Do favors just to help people; - Funny and charismatic characters; - Nice set of openings, endings and OSTs 9/10 - They always get in trouble but manage to fix it in a funny way; - A funny story gets serious in a minute but ends in a comedy anyway; -   read more

They are pretty much the same show in different settings. SKET- 3 club members (2 guys and 1 girl) that do anything to help the student body Gintama- 3 yorozuya (2 guys and 1 girl) who do any job for money Both are HILARIOUS and will have you laughing every episode. They both parody other animes and sometimes have a sentimental side.
report Recommended by jfizzl
They have the same feel. Maybe because the mangaka of Sket Dance was once an assistant by Gintama's mangaka. Both are very funny. Some characters in Gintama are voiced by the same seiyuus in Sket Dance (For example: Gintoki - Switch, Jugem - Himeko, Takaya Hachibei - Bossun). Sket Dance is like the school version of Yorozuya.
report Recommended by sheidesu
Is similar because both are three mean characters. Both do parodies. both have a completly history.
report Recommended by SoyMia
Both have a trio that takes odd jobs, with plenty of laughter and memorable stories along the way. The creator of SKET Dance used to work under Hideaki Sorachi who created Gintama. That was what prompted me to take a look at SD.
report Recommended by sidvanhalen
Long story short: 1. Both feature a "help-them-all" team. 2. A classical trio: a fighting girl, a nerd with the glasses and the main goofy hero. 3. Great comedy with breaking the 4th wall and a lot of parody/sarcasm. Except for the differences in the setting and the characters of the trio, everything is more or less the same.
report Recommended by vanto
If there's anything similar, despite the completely opposite settings, they both made me laugh my head off. If you enjoy the aspects of doing odd jobs, well they both do that too! They're both very good series.
report Recommended by milky_crown
This is similar to Gintama because of the "helping" part. Its like a school version of Gintama. And it also has the Manzai type of jokes. It is also really enjoyable.
report Recommended by guddi
well both of Sket Dance and Gintama have a trio that helps people which are usually odd jobs. and they rely on parodies of other franchises such as Shounen series for their humor. and finally they're both hillarious and fun to watch.
report Recommended by sasori_
Both anime are comical and there is a group that works to help the others, but in different situations. The style of Joes is similar. Beyond being comedic, both also have a lot of action and sad stories. They both make you "laugh and cry at the same time."
report Recommended by Jchibi28
These two anime are similar anime because they are obviously both made by Shonen Jump, but also they are both comedies. They both have the same concept of having a group of 3 people helping other except their storylines and timelines are completely different.
report Recommended by Jintama
SKET Dance's author is something like the student of Gintama's author, so you know what kind of things to expect. SKET Dance follows a similar concept, but in a High-school and with three incredibly funny characters. Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you cry! Every character is different from one another, and most of the situations they're messed in are completely unpredictable.
report Recommended by Asho
Its like Gintama but in a School Setting. Really funny and has some deep moments too. In Sket Dance, each character is so unique they wont seem like just background characters.
report Recommended by Whats_an_Otaku
Similar characteristics and humour used. When you have seen both similarities are there but no joy is lost. Gintama has three main characters same as SKET Dance. If you enjoyed SKET then Gintama is the right kind of humour!
report Recommended by TawnyWings
Both are funny anime with a few serious arcs about main characters who help others and have a simliar message.
report Recommended by UsuiKazuyoshi11
Both have same concept. Yorozuya and SKET brigade help people/solve others' problems. The characters are also similar. Bossun = Gintoki + Shinpachi Switch = Gintoki + Kagura Himeko = Kagura + Shinpachi Student Council = Shinsengumi Both are comedies and good shows.

SKET Dance is basically a modern day Gintama.
report Recommended by vPickles
Gintama and SKET Dance are both focused on 3 characters that help people in their world. Both shows also have lots of comedy.
report Recommended by zumoku1137
both don't really have a plot, but its filled with tons of humor, while there is a tough main heroine while the other two have their own characteristics. also, the two animes have had a few crossovers.
report Recommended by slytheriness1217
Both shows present three people performing odd jobs in the most hilarious way. I generally believe that Sket Dance was initially influenced by Gintama, as its creator, Kenta Shinohara, was originally Sorachi's assistant. Additionally, both series have their "dark" sides and sad moments mainly rotating around their characters' backstories. Nevertheless, both animes (and mangas) are original and enjoyable in their own way.
report Recommended by NickTheGreek
Both of these have anime have similar comedic elements. They both star 3 main characters and a service help-like club. *Gintoki's voice actor is in both anime* *Shinpachi's voice actor is in both anime but plays a minor role in Sket Dance* They have crossover episodes. Sket Dance is pretty much what i think would happen if Gintama was set in High School.
report Recommended by PandoraFreak101
Both of them describe a story with people who do anything you ask. Both cover stupid jokes and epizodes which are almost about nothing but still you can't stop laughing. Main heroes compete with someone but at the end of the day they're better friends than ever before.
report Recommended by gitty93
Both these anime series are extremely high level comedy that will make you laugh out loud. There are many times when both of these turn serious and they even have a cross-over
report Recommended by GiantQAACSleier
Episodic series about 3 friends helping other people usually in roundabout way. As once it was stated in the Sket dance, it's poor man's Gintama.
report Recommended by usagi_Kuro99
They both are fun, alike. Some say, SKET Dance is school version Gintama. They both are willing to help people. SKET Dance mangaka also used to be Gintama Mangaka assistant. There is a lot concept taken from each other. They both also come from Jump. The Anime Airing time is Also almost same. Both stories teach you value of friendship and helping.
report Recommended by maelstrom16
Both feature a group of three who work together to solve people's problems or task. Both anime have similar humor, and not to forget that in both anime there is a 'rival' group,Shinsengumi in Gintama, while it is the student council in Sket Dance. If you enjoy Gintama, you should also enjoy this anime.

Gintama and SKET Dance's structure is extremely similar, that may be due to the fact that SKET Dance's mangaka was Sorachi's (Gintama's mangaka) assistant for a while. Both of them involve a main cast of 3, the leader that's usually lazy but when it comes to it he's the most responsible one. (Gintoki and Bossun) The girl that's the power house of their group (Kagura and Himeko) and the smart otaku. (Shinpachi and Switch). The overall structure of the show is similar, it's mainly comedy but there are those serious dramatic arcs that develop the plot and characters more. They both are odd jobs and it's really funny they also once had a cross-over. Gintama can have its own seriousness sometimes but can always make a joke out of it. Sket dance is more modern Gintama is just random.

- First, the very purpose of the Yorozuya and SKET-dan are the same: they do anything for their clients. - Second, both groups are composed of three members (exclude the pets) with similar characteristerization: one leader figure, one freakishly strong female, and one Glasses (megane) character. - Third, Gintama and SKET Dance have similar comedy and sense of humor. Both series parody other anime series, as both main protagonists are very well conscious of their status as main character (and both don't want to be outdone by other characters). Gintama's famous randomness can also be seen in SKET Dance. - Both Sket Dance and Gintama are gag series   read more

Where Gintama and SKET Dance really shine is the comedy. Their sense of humor can only be described as, for a lack of a better word, random. It's just a roller coaster ride when watching Gintama and SKET Dance. The comedic relief comes out of nowhere and sucker punches you, making it feel like your jaw is dislocated. Albeit, the humor is relatively different as far as the topic. But if one thing is similar, it's POOP. The amount poop jokes just makes you want to sh*t bricks from loosened bowels. Another point where SKET Dance and Gintama are similar is the heart warming scenes.   read more

Sket Dance has the same concept as Gintama; 3 friends create a school club to help the students. Now, it may not be as extensive as Gintama which has a futuristic setting with samurais fighting aliens and etc, SKET Dance's unique set of characters definitely makes up for it. You'll definitely laugh real hard with SKET Dance, I bet it.
report Recommended by Hsivak
The mangaka worked under sorachi for a while and this is heavily inspired by gintama so pretty much anyone who loves gintama will also love sket dance guaranteed. watch it yes

The following are similar because: -The author of these anime is coworkers before. -They have similar three protagonists, two males and a female. The female is the stronger one. The characters have unique, interesting and funny personalities. -The soundtrack is cool. The seiyuu did a good work on giving life to the characters. -They help people with their talents.

similar to the Odd Jobs crew in Gintama. Both shows also share the same voice actor for the main character, Tomokazu Sugita.

Similar ideas, just executed differently. Same type of humor. Some of the same voice actors. Crossovers! <3

Both comedies with similar feel; Both 4th wall breakers :) ; Gintama: samurai setting, enjoyable random episodes and story arcs, great characters SKET Dance: school setting, enjoyable random episodes with a little bit of drama that tells the story of the MCs, great characters

Parody, comedy that i can say this show quite similiar. Though gintama more Shounen Jump ish. And the Sket dance is SoL high schooler. But not only that. Why this is similiar cause the VA from gintama and sket dance some of it using the same VA. And yeah idk it's consider spoiler or not. They're collaborating each other one of their eps. So it's valid they're quite similiar

Very similar in terms of main concept and comedy. Also able to switch from comedy to a more series tone like Gintama does.

As what Gintoki stated, it's poor man's Gintama.
report Recommended by Nainu_
Both animes have 3 protagonists (a male leader, a strong girl and a pair of glasses wearing a boy) that help people with their problems. The Sket dan is like Yorozuya Gin-chan, and the nonsense comedy is so present in both anime, creating contrast with the sad drama arcs. There's also a crossover, as you might know.
report Recommended by Lvscx
They have the same comedy level. And have some similar seiyuu too

- Both do odd jobs, with funny and cool protoganist and friends - different settings

Similar premise with similar humor,SKET Dance is pretty much Gintama in a school setting and vice versa. They also did a collab episode one time,in case you miss the characters.

it's like Gintama but in modern era

Have the same mission, namely helping others voluntarily. With the main character who is respected and assisted by a suitable supporting character. So that it creates an exciting and very funny life. You have to watch both.
report Recommended by Osshin
The author for Sket Dance (Kenta Shinohara) was a previous editor for the Gintama manga, he also collaborated with Hideaki Sorachi (author of Gintama) to do a crossover chapter/ episode. Both follow a trio of odd jobbers in their quests to help all sorts of wacky characters. It's a shame to experience one without the other. Absolutely the 2 best shounen series out there.

Gintama in highschool
report Recommended by Ahaxx
Gag-humour parody anime with a group of three main characters (2 male 1 female) who run an odds jobs group helping people do various things. Mostly light-hearted, but sometimes they have serious arcs that get surprisingly heavy. They use a lot of running jokes and character quirks to shape the comedy, and mostly use a manzai routine. Also watch out for the crossovers.
report Recommended by Eziprez
I believe that SKET Dance and Gintama are very similar in terms of the main characters' anime style, in addition to the comedy being silly the same.
report Recommended by Haywd
If you like Gintama you should try Sket Dance, it has the same vibes in comedy and good plot as well especially the past story of Switch that literally made me teared up. If you watched Gintama you should've probably seen their collaboration and the same as Sket Dance. Sket Dance is like the mini version of Gintoki's group and also they do odd jobs like Gintama's. If you like comedy, then this is definitely worth checking out. And I also highly recommend the manga because they didn't adapted it all in the manga and there is still worth checking out in the manga. Enjoy   read more

Both anime's are based around a trio (1 girl 2 boys) doing odd jobs/solving peoples problems no matter what they are. Both the girls in the trio's carry their signature weapon and are super strong. Theres also a nerdy boy in the group, and then theres the mc. If your looking for an enjoyable show to binge watch and a good laugh, these are the animes for you!
