It is made by the same author and some of the same people worked on both. Both are space operas with empires fighting against rebel fleets and both have the same atmosphere as of the first episode. Its kind of early in the series to say they are the same but I can safely say that both Tytania and LOGH have the same feel. Battles in both emphasize tactics and fleet movements in three-dimensional space. Tytania is a bit more modernized including communications networks obviously descended from the Internet and other such ideas.

One look at Tytania's opening, which is almost entirely dedicated to showing close-ups of serious business male faces (and the occasional spaceship), would set any LotGH ho... lover's heart a flutter. The OP/ED even break up the two halves of the cast, just like in LotGH's. Don't let the brief shot of a girl with antenna hair fool you! Tytania was written by LotGH's author and its anime was directed by the same director. Although no famous classical music is used, rest assured that an orchestra performed the soundtrack. There's the same ancient nobility setting / attire blended with spaceships that comes across so un-futuristic   read more

Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Tytania both have the same director and original creator, they both are space operas about great galactic coflict, and much, much more in common. Similarities go so far, that Tytania have been already named by fans "Legend of the Galactic Heroes 2008"

Original stories of both series(manga/light novels) come from the same author. Both series are of mainly space opera genre; the sorta story which focuses on military/politics/strategy. Although a bit sci-fi and post-apocalyptic , they don't focus on high-tech weapons and robot action. They are also similar in the fact that main protagonists are excellent military strategists.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes creates a more detailed and interesting world then Tytania's. The plot is much more complicated and there are a lot of characters with likeable personalities. I would recommend LoGH to anyone interested in political and millitary themes in anime.

They are both adapted from novels of Yoshiki Tanaka, and are Space Opera with many politics aspects. Tytania is really similar to LoGH in many aspects, the designs are similar, the worldbuilding and characters look really close... Tytania is not as good as LoGH but great for every fans of Space Opera and of the author.
