Both are sci-fi. Both happen around summer. Both series discover the bond between the characters, family in Summer Wars and friendship in Tsuritama. Both are about saving the world. Both series have unique art and animation. These two series give you similar feeling about people who try really hard to achieve something and of course, both are really fun.

That slice of life/sci-fi feel plus a group of people banding together to save the world.
They both have an awkward main character who has to save the world from a (minor) apocalypse. They're both feel-good slice of life with more action in the end. The artwork is somewhat similar and they're both very bright and colorful. It's something you could watch with your whole family.
Their art styles are similar: simple character design, bright colors and light soundtrack. And both give audience a feeling of summer.
The stories are both based on real country life, and sci-fi element is also contained in both series.
The main characters in both series save the world at the end, by fishing in Tsuritama and by game in Summer Wars.
