Yuuma and Kakeru share a lot of traits, mostly that at the beginning of the show they lose every card game they play. It isn't until Astral (Zexal) and Pedal (L.O.C.K) come and save them from a very important game do they begin to start winning and improving. The only difference between the two is that no one can see Astral besides Yuuma and no one can understand Pedal until they 'live change' or turn into a monster themselves.
