Both are anime based off of games. They are both similar in their polts, how the main chartares must battle an ultimate evil being ,along with dealing with their own pasts. Both have differnet character classes, and are in a fantasy world where monsters and spells are the norm.

In both series, the theme of conquest, fantasy, magic, and swordsmanship are present.
Along the way, both series' main protagonists meets other characters who forms bonds with him. At the same time however, there are antagonists who gets in the way of the main protagonist as well as his friends.
In both series, there is also a main heroine who sticks by the protagonist.
Both series, there are fantasy settings similar to those of an RPG game. As such, expect action, drama, and some comedy.
