Gantz and Berserk are very similar anime or manga at least. They're similar in the way that they don't cover nearly as much as the manga does. I highly recommend giving these two a read or a watch. They're extremely violent, gory with strong characters and themes. My personal favorites from each series are Kaze aka Muscle Rider or Guts. Not for the faint of heart
