Both involve a Magical Girl awakening to the power of cards and the main characters in both are sweet, kind-hearted girls who aim to be helpful in the loss of their mothers.
Both series also share very impressive and original art. Their styles are not similar to each other, but they are both very well done for their respective time periods.

Like magical girls? Well, Cardcaptor Sakura and Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou adapts the theme quite well in terms of this concept. As such, both of these series deals with a young girl who possesses magical abilities. They become gifted with magical powers in order to accomplish their goals.
The premise of both series are a bit different but both of them retains that magical sense of magical girls. The main female character from both series are also kind and willing to help others. At first, they are unsure of the responsibilities given to them but through experiences, they are able to adapt.
