Same shock value mech drama, but at least Valvrave had more budget. Even the opening songs managed to add TM Revolution on top of Nana Mizuki.
Both have previously civilian characters who are suddenly thrown into war. The plots are well written and deep with many mysteries to be revealed. Both titles gained a lot of attention (negative) for having shocking elements and plot developments. They are exciting, definitely very dramatic (some say over the top) and borderline parody. For this they have been called "train wrecks" and so bad it's good. However I like both of these shows very much and I see the aforementioned qualities as positive aspects that make the stories that much more interesting and engaging. Oh yeah, both are mecha
They're both original anime by Sunrise. Both have a rather ridiculous but well-written story. Cross Ange has more of a focus on character development while Valvrave focusses more on action.
