Both are great, mature, serious psychological anime made by the same studio (Mad House) and with the amazing character design of Takeshi Obata (but only for the first 4 episodes of Aoi Bungaku). Raito & Yozo are very similar: both are handsome, well-known young men with their own vision of the world and who don't have a good relationship with society. Oh, they both have a lovely crazy laughter, too.

Both have very dark, very depressing storylines, yet the characters draw you in and you are left with not a sour taste in your mouth, but excitement. At least... that was the way it was for me.

Same studio, same designer (Obata) and same genere

The character design for the majority of Aoi Bungaku's episodes is done by Takeshi Obata of Death Note fame, so the similar artwork should come to no surprise. This is jarringly notable in the first segment, called "No Longer Human" based on the best-selling Japanese novel of the same namel by Osamu Dazai. These three episodes present an unforgiving realism and its manipulative, objectionable main character -- a supplementary resemblance to his more popular work.

This should be at the top of any recommendations list for Death Note, but unfortunately will not because it is very unheard of. Aoi Bungaku Series (first four episodes) features the character design work from Takeshi Obata who originally worked on the Death Note manga. Madhouse was the animation studio that worked on both Death Note and Aoi Bungaku. Fans will enjoy seeing how Madhouse capitalizes on the animation aesthetic from Death Note in the first story that Obata contributes to, and will appreciate the main protagonist that almost perfectly resembles Light Yagami.

In both series, the first few episodes adapts similar themes with psychological tendencies dealing with the main characters' consciousness. There is a similar feeling and the main character here even looks similar. In both series, there is philosophical approaches as well as psychological backgrounds surrounding the story. Both series also has thriller like endings and moments that can are presently in a peculiar way.

Both anime are dark, sad and share almost similar characters. The art and music is the same from death note(art drawn by the guy who did death note, and the same with the music). also both anime are intelligent and leave you thinking at the end. However unlike deathnote this is a series of different stories. I would watch no longer human and kokoro.

The first arc is written by the same creators of Death note. It covers subjects of psychology, death and life. Music is created by Hideki Taniuchi ( same composer for Death note ost)In the end of Aoi Bungaku we meet Kandata, who has the voice of Mamoru Miyano ( Light Yagami )

These two works explore the mentality of their protagonists, which are related to death. The protagonists feel a contempt towards humanity and society. They often use the persons, them for their own purposes in order to brighten their miserable lives a little.

They are anime who are concerned with books in one way or another. The main characters have lives that degrade over time and result in misanthropy. The art styles are similar (sometimes) and have lots of greys in the art.

This recommendation is only relevant to the first story of Aoi Bungaku, No Longer Human, which is the first 4 episodes of the series. Both Death Note and No Longer Human are amazing psychological series, they're also made by the same studio, Madhouse, and both of them are in Takeshi Obata's art style.
