Hal is like a longer but more boring version of Hotarubi no Mori e. They are both short, visually stunning movies with interesting characters and attractive story, setting, and plot. Both are fantasy/Sci-Fi, but focuses more on the slice of life.
Both movies center on a male lead with traumatizing childhood and past experiences but meets a kind, loving, and naive female partner which brings significant changes to their miserable lives and how they value it.

They both portray the love and relationship of two unlikely individuals (youkai and human and robot and human). Both are very emotional and may lead to a river of tears.
Feels train. Depressing anime. A heartwarming story. Great characters. Good romance.

Both the anime are not ever a hour long but will remain within you for a long time. Both the anime focus on how one should move on even after loosing someone very important. The character in both the anime are very well written and at last both the anime have very sad ending....
