Badass, lone-wolf MCs in a space setting. Both shows are mostly episodic (though Cobra has some longer arcs) and the OSTs are jazzy and great. Cobra is a bit goofier and definitely more OTT at most times, but overall they have a very similar setup and feeling.

Space Adventure Cobra is Cowboy Bebop's best known source of inspiration.
The citationism is exasperated, especially to American culture, but it is not yet influenced by postmodernism of the 90s.
Both works are born to entertain the spectator.
Science fiction with evasive purpose.
