Well, Kino serves as more as a medium/perspective to experience the story from than as a character with significant development and depth, so that's the reason why I like the anime more than the character.

Heh, I think that Yotsubato may be one of those mangas that you read a lot of it at once and then don't read it for a long time. Not that it's bad or anything (it's quite the contrary), it's just how it may be :p

Hidamari Sketch is a very relaxing show. What sets it apart from other anime, in my opinion, is that there is a large amount of love going into it from the production staff and the seiyuus. The love is so transparent that you can easily feel it, and you just know how much fun that they must have had while working on this show (instead of just another job).

The author of the original Hidamari Sketch manga, Ume Aoki, brings an unique female perspective to the slice-of-life genre and actively participates in the anime. The show is nicely paced with relaxed drawing style and music, and is perfect for winding yourself down at the end of the day :)
