i watch all kind of anime well with exception of yaoi/shounen-ai or wadever u call. Generally i prefer Martial Arts,Action, Mecha, comedy and Sports genre, but anything with good story would do also.I prefer anime that r more positive, instead of some dark anime.

I usually dont read a manga unless the manga dont have anime or the anime ended before the manga(eg. eyeshield 21)
