I signed up here in the hope it would help me kickstart my interest in anime, the last anime I actually finished(!!) and enjoyed was Strawberry Panic back in 2006 and since then I've drifted away from it due to other hobbies, friends losing interest in it and just not finding anything I liked enough to watch. Similarly using this site as an incentive to wipe the dust off my manga pile so the trees didn't die in vain.

The first anime I ever saw was Tenchi Muyo way back when it was on Toonami, think I was about 12 at the time, I used to get up at 6am to watch it before getting ready for school - though I had no idea what 'anime' was back then. A few years later I bought my first anime dvds: Perfect Blue and Blood the Last Vampire, after seeing a trailer for the former. After that I blame the internet and the influence of certain friends/past boyfriends & girlfriends for my addiction. I'm by no means an anime fanatic but I did go a good few years *only* watching anime...I still maintain there just weren't any good films out back then ;)

Genre wise I have a preference for yuri, shoujo-ai and horror/psychological/dark type stuff. Not a fan of mechs, harem or things that really don't have much plot or character development. I'm not one for jumping on the popularity bandwagon ether but if you want to recommend something to me feel free!

Outside of anime I'd say my biggest interest is probably videogames. I've been into videogames since I was 5 years old and owned most consoles at one time or another. RPGS, especially strategy RPGS, and fighting games are my forté but I'll have a go at most things, sport or racing games don't really interest me though. Favourites include: Shin Megami Tensei (series), Devil May Cry, Fire Emblem, Tekken, Disgaea, Golden Sun, Fear Effect, Onimusha (except the 4th game), King of Fighters, Ar Tonelico, Castlevania and the Mega Drive/Genesis Sonic games.

I discovered jpop and jrock through anime, and through them Japanese fashion. These days I have a particular love for the lolita fashion subculture (no nothing to do with Nabokov's book just fyi) and have been dressing in the style for about 3 years now. I'm mainly a gothic and kuro lolita, though I've been leaning more towards classic recently, and enjoy other styles such as aristocrat, ero and hime lolita.
