I started watching this expecting a male version of the pretty cure series. I was in the humor for cliches and silly jokes, and a not very deep story... and i did get that, and so much more. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as i did.
This show isn't advertised as such, but no matter what they tell you it IS an spoof/parody of magical girl and shounen ai genres, and fanservice for ladies. That doesn't make it less enjoyable, it actually make it become really refreshing.

one, the brains, the playboy, the richboy and the lazy one), that are chosen by an alien pink Wombat to save the world and give love to the loveless. The funny thing is that they actually couldn't care less about this job, and even they make fun of their silly outfits and create hilarious names to their attacks.
I was pleasantly surprised how it got better episode by episode, and even though i would have love if they have given the plot more substance, i think it fulfills the purpose for what it was created: to make you laugh.
The only thing that i really think that sucks a lot are the monsters. They could have made something better if they tried... but it's ok, i was actually expecting something like that.
But anyway, hear me out, if you want something light-hearted and funny to pass your evening, give it a try.

I dislike being mean when i give a review, but i promised to myself to be sincere every time i give one.
Marginal Prince falls under the category of "it was so BAD it made me LAUGH". People who reviewed about this being terrible weren't joking to you, truly... the only reason i didn't drop it off from the start was because it gave me a sheer amount of laughter in every episode.
Welcome to the world of Marginal Prince! The worst Anime based of a dating game yet to be made.
Main character (who is a dude instead of the main girl in the game) is

the new guy in this amazing all-boy academy. At the beginning it seems that this will fall in the category of "new guy in school who gets fawn over by everyone", but in reality Marginal Prince is wrongly labeled, it is NOT a shounen ai... and that makes the story even more pointless.
The thing is that THERE IS NO STORY. We have random pieces of plot scattered everywhere dealing with the character's back stories that we don't really care about.
The worst yet most hilarious part is that the characters sing. Yes. They sing. Out of nowhere. IN THE RAIN.
I love my good musicals, but... this wasn't suppose to be a musical, or is it?
Everything is random and pointless.
I don't suggest you to watch it but if you really want to i bet you at least will get a few laughs on how WTF everything is.

When i started reading/watching the manga and the anime of Fairy Tail i was really enthusiastic.
As someone who grew up watching shounen this anime had everything i was looking for genre-wise: a huge cast of characters with amazing and diverse powers, jaw-dropping battles, and an interesting plot that i thought could only get better by each episode.
The problem was... that as time passed by, everything that originally made me gasp and yelled in excitement, grew duller and duller.
The first few arcs of the story, in my opinion, were really enjoyable. But suddenly it became painfully repetitive, and instead of giving an answers to all

the questions that were presented in the beginning, they kept adding more and more. More villains, more characters, more unanswered questions. Suddenly they were dealing with alternative realities and time travel, and so many things that were far away from the original plot... and sadly i had to stop watching it all together as i wasn't having fun anymore.
In my opinion, this constant necessity of adding and adding is what killed this poor anime. It could have been SO much better if they decided to concentrate in only one thing at the time, instead of scattering storylines everywhere.
That said, the first few arcs of the story are worth watching. I like the four lead characters a bunch, they are very diverse and have likable personalities.
But if you decided to start watching, keep in mind that it will start getting old somewhere in the way.

You can have a standard plot with standard characters but still have a good show. Nevertheless... I may have the unpopular opinion here but i think Gakuen Heaven is completely dull.
Gakuen Heaven follows the typical formula of "the new dude in school who is fawn over by all his classmates" which is a typical cliche in yaoi/yuri, shoujo and every other anime which involves school romances.
But you can have this setting and still make a great story, but in the case of this anime the plot is boring, all twists are hand-fed to the viewers from the start, and the only one
...
which isn't (which i won't spoil because it happens in the end) it's completely random and pointless. The characters are dull stereotypes who doesn't add nothing rather than being handsome love interests to the main character. And Ito Keita himself is completely weak as the protagonist.
I know that this series, as it's based on a yaoi videogame, was probably made as some sort of fanservice for it's fans... but i expect to have at least a little bit of substance if i decide to take my time to watch a 13 episode show. I kept waiting for something to surprise me but everything was a disappointment in this one. There has been BL anime/manga with the same exact premise that still manage to be really interesting... but Gakuen Heaven couldn't get me engage in it.
But i understand that some fans may enjoy it. It has cute bishounen and a happy-go-lucky storyline (eventhough it's extremely pointless)... so if that's enough to float your boat it will probably satisfy you.
If you are someone who prefer something more substantial, it's a waste of your precious time.

I'm going to be sincere, i heard of this anime because everyone on the internet kept saying that it was a "Madoka Rip-off". But as i believe you can't judge before watching it yourself, i went on and watch it.
My conclusion: people really exaggerate, it definitely isn't a rip-off. It does have some common grounds, but Genei Wo Kakeru Taiyou has proved to me that it stands as it's own series.
Genei Wo Kakeru follows the same formula that most Magical Girl shows have, the only difference it's that, apart from the grim factor, it handles very mature topics.

villain by accepting a contract with him suffers from a human problem: Jealousy, anger, sadness, isolation... we all have experimented that once, and maybe sometimes, if someone came to us in our darkest moment, and offer as a deal, would we prefer giving up on our humanity in order to punish those who have wronged us? Or maybe give up our souls in order to save the life our best friend?
I think we can consider this show to be divided in "two parts". The first seven episodes shows us the most exterior part of the conflict, while Akari tries to come into terms with what her job as an Elemental Tarot implies, and she befriends her new teammates.
It's in episode 8 when we FINALLY get to the real plot and the story takes a very dark (and bloody) twist.
I really enjoyed the first 7 episodes, but i believe, as this story is only 14 episodes long, it would have been better if they started introducing the real conflict from the beginning, instead of waiting until half the series and only having a bunch of episodes left to tie everything neatly. They also could have used those first seven episodes more wisely, for example by explaining better more aspects about the Sefiro Fiore, or about the main character themselves. It seemed to me that the only character who had a personal growth through the story was Akari, and only because she was the protagonist. I think there were a lot of missed chances here, but that doesn't make this a bad series either.
But anyway, i really appreciate the change episode 8 gave to the story, as it made it more interesting to watch... i was enjoying previous episodes but i was starting to get bored.
The only thing that bugs me is that there were a lot of things that were left without an explanation. I don't know if this means there is going to be a season 2, but i hope they make it, because if not it will always feel that the story is incomplete.
In my personal taste, i also didn't like the character design... but it wasn't bad either, and it's only a matter of taste. On the other hand, i really liked the battle scenes and the special effects on the character's attacks. Also, Akari's hair animation once she transforms is really awesome to watch.
But all in all, i found it a really enjoyable series. I'm glad this series was able to maintain all the Magical Girl genre's essence, but still being able to step a bit more over the line and handle other things that can appeal to older viewers. Don't be discourage to watch it by those who criticize it by comparing it to Madoka... i think we should appreciate both series as their own, and be happy that the industry is now opening itself to bring the Magical Girls to a new level, by making content for the older fans.

If you are planning to watch this OVA i suppose you have watched the series already. If you haven't i suggest you do it first, as you will probably won't understand what is going on.
If you haven't read the manga which this series was based of, the OVA covers chapter 16 of volume 4. It starts with Ryouma finishing recording a movie special, and being anxious to go back home and see Izumi again, after they had their first time together nights ago. But back home, for some reason, Izumi doesn't seem to be ready to see his boyfriend again --- won't spoil what follows.

It's a typical episode of the saga, funny, adorable with a bit of sexyness. Maybe i would have preferred if they had decided to adapt another chapter of the manga, instead of this one that doesn't really have much of a story to tell... but if you are a fan of this anime, it's awesome to be able to see this characters animated again, so don't miss the chance and go watch it!

As with any genre, yaoi/shounenai is often criticized by people who doesn't like it. Actually shounen ai (and shoujo ai too) is mostly the same as ANY romantic comedy anime out there, the only difference is that the main couple features homoromantic characters, which tends to scare off straight viewers.
The thing with "Love Stage!!", what makes it so special, it's that for some reason it seems to have broken that genre barrier, and a big part of their viewers are straight male people who don't usually watch shounenai/yaoi shows.
The premise of the story is very simple: Ryouma, a famous actor, fell

in love with a girl when he was a child and has been obsessed with her memory since then, and once he meets 'her' again, now as a young adult, he discovers 'she' was actually a him: Izumi, a clumsy otaku with a showbusiness family.
What makes it SO good is both the comedic value, because the story is tremendously HILARIOUS, and the characters itself, which are really very well developed in just a few episodes.
The art is pretty cool, nothing out of the "shoujo norm", but myself, i love the character design a lot. But i'm biased because i really love Zaou Taishi's drawing style.
So, i must say that if you are a fujoshi/fudanshi or a person who appreciates the genre just like me, this is a MUST watch.
If you are a viewer who usually doesn't like yaoi/shounenai, or you haven't watch one ever, i will give it a try. Odds are you are going to like it... and if not, at least it's worth the laughs.

I made a review about the third Madoka movie yesterday, and i will quote the beginning of it because it applys to the anime:
"You either love or hate Madoka, that's my conclusion after discussing this series with friends and acquaintances that have watched it too. I believe it wasn't an anime that was meant for the "magical girl" genre fanatic, but for the anime fans who love crazy visuals and stories with dark twists. "
That said, i'm not meaning that magical girl genre viewers would not like it, but if you watch it expecting to follow the canonical way in which that genre is

constructed, you will be really disappointed.
Madoka's real plot is disguised as a Magical Girl series in their exterior, when in reality is more closed to the psychological thriller genre. I actually suggest people not to read about this series before watching it, as it is much more rewarding if you watch it without knowing what to expect... the series is full of dark unexpected plot twist in most episodes, and spoiling them makes you loose half of the experience.
I can't promise you will like it, because, as i said, you have a love/hate thing going on in here, but i can promise enjoyment and a bunch of surprises.
That said, there's ONE thing that all viewers agree in: The visuals are AMAZING, original, they blow your mind. And the animation sequences are really fluid, and if you are an animation fanatic you will get really excited.

I must say i really liked the first half of the series. I won't say the premise is original, but it is very interesting, and the first two episodes will have you on the edge of your seat.
The problem, maybe, is the pace in which this story was told. There are lots of time skips that sometimes make you angry, and lots of random episodes that seem to be irrational filler that give nothing to support the plot.
But if you can make a blind eye to the unnecessary fanservice and filler, the first 14 episodes are really enjoyable, and, at least the final episode of
...
this arc was surprising and rewarding.
So if you are planning to watch it, the first part of the show works pretty well on it's own, and even if it's not perfect (in my opinion) it's very enjoyable.
Now, the real problem is the second arc of the season which starts in episode 15.
Not only it lacks of a real plot whatsoever, but it feels completely unnecessary, and the show just goes downhill from here.
Our once "strong" female lead is held hostage until the end of the season by the villain of turn, whose only real motivation is... marrying a comatose girl against her consent, and probably rape her?...there are other things going on, but everything is so uninteresting that you will probably be banging your head against the wall until the end of the season.
The last episode does gives you a good closure to the WHOLE experience, but it isn't worth the pain of watching this 11 train-wrecking episodes that ruined the whole thing for me.
So, my recommendation is to watch just the first 14 episodes, and if you are really curious, watch episode 25 in the end. You won't be missing anything at all.
My rating of "7" is just for the first half of the series which i think fulfills the objective of entertaining the viewers (which, seriously, it IS the objective of every show). I would give the second half a 3, but i don't want to bring down the first part that works well on its own.

I must admit it IS an ambitious train-wreck, but it isn't THAT bad.
The premise of the story is very good, and so it is the first episode which gives you a lot of expectation. But beware... sadly, the anime is not gonna meet those expectations.
The story-telling wasn't wisely constructed, and what could have become the anime of its year, crush and burn miserably. It's such a pity when stories with so much potential are executed so poorly.
I haven't read the visual novel from which this was based of, but i am planning to, as i'm really intrigued if they gave this story
...
more justice in there.
Actually, i won't recommend you to see this, just because the dissapointment is TOO bad. If you are still interested, give it a try, at least the concept is good... if only it weren't so badly executed.
