Name: Vin
Age: twenty-three years
Occupation: grad school slave (this makes me depressed)
Studying: my ph.d. in cancer genetics (a.k.a. curing cancer)
Time I will Graduate by: around 2012-2013 (this also makes me depressed)
History: My childhood consisted of only a few things: friends, playing backyard sports with friends past curfew, teenage mutant ninja turtles, Voltron, Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda. It was pretty fun now that I think about it. Then somewhere in between that, Rurouni Kenshin came into my life and paved the way for anime to take it over. Then before I knew what happened, I kind of had to go to college and figure out what the hell I wanted to do in my life. Somehow, I came up with the conclusion I wanted to get a ph.d., find the cure for cancer and save the world. I figure I need to take that one step at a time.
Current Game: MagnaCarta 2 (Xbox 360)
Sports: I'm a pretty avid sports fan, as I follow football (NFL), basketball, hockey, baseball and college football and basketball seasons pretty closely. So if you ever want to have a discussion about anything that has to do with sports, feel free to post a comment. I'll totally debate with you how utterly stupid the BCS system is in college football.

after 9 long years--Cubs fans might not like hearing that; haha--the Yankees won again. How was the victory parade yesterday? Chaos? Madness? RIOTS? lol.

Sort of, I guess xD I'm currently in my last year of nursing school and the area I'm interested in is oncology nursing, so when I graduate in spring, ideally I'd like a job that gets me within that field. My placement right now is in a hematology unit, so we see a lot of leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas, but I find the topic of cancer in general to be very interesting. Of course, because of the applied nature of my field, I don't get so in-depth as you do, so understanding some of the oncology textbooks is hard because I just don't have the biochem background ^^;
You're right that it's so difficult to treat, even between two people who have the same basic diagnosis. And, as they say, everyone knows someone with cancer. Any research that goes towards it has the potential to go such a long way and affect so many people!

I totally randomly dropped by your profile page, so I apologize in advance if I come off as a stalker. However! I noticed you're studying to, basically, cure cancer. My hat goes off to you! It's an area I am interested in, as well - not so much in the research area, though, but more in the practical area. But the research will do a lot of good in the world. Still, I gotta say....genetics sounds difficult ^^;; Have fun with that!

Looks like Avarice's prediction of the New York Yankees winning the world series in 6 games came true. Meh, didn't really care much for either team winning anyway since New York has now won 27 titles as a franchise and Philadelphia did win the title last year.
While I'm not much of an NBA fan (I tend to follow it at certain times), I guess I can mention some things to you on what to expect this season.
First off, Dwight Howard needs to prove he can be a better player because I can see Orlando pull out a NBA title in its future (if not this year). Obviously, Boston needs to stay away from injuries (especially Kevin Garnett) because they are a very old team. I'm also curious on how Cleveland will do this year especially since Shaq is joining with LeBron James (in my mind, he should not leave Cleveland because I think it is a huge mistake if he signs with the New York Knicks since it will be like Alex Rodriguez joining the Texas Rangers (never made the playoffs with him in the team)).
Although the L.A. Lakers are the favorites to repeat as NBA Champions, I just have this weird feeling it is not going to happen. For some reason, I think Denver might return the favor to the L.A. Lakers (for getting knock out of the Western Conference Finals last year) by winning the Western Conference Finals this year. Also, I would be amaze if the Ron Artest experiment works out (especially since most people in the U.S. remember what happen in the Indiana-Detroit brawl in 2004). Talk about an individual that has a short-fuse.

I miss receiving them :) I always looked forward to your comments... even if I always replied to them late XD
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm trying to do my best, although I would prefer more DB work to user work... I'd rather immerse myself in dusty archives and come out and socialize when I feel like it, than work with users directly, lol. Too many years in public service, I guess.
The year really has flown by. To tell you the truth, I'm looking forward to it ending. It's been a pretty crappy year in a lot of respects, so next year can only be better :D Don't worry about watching Kimi ni Todoke if you don't have time :P Is there anything else that's caught your small amount of free time this season?
Thanks again for the comment. I know why you left one today, and that coupled with the "whoop-ass" comment really helped perk up my mood. You're a sweetheart <3

damn it, Sillies won Game 1 in impressive fashion and Cliff Lee did plow through every hitter he faced and made them look foolish. Shit. The Oracle of Sports Talk, Skip Bayless had to pick the Yankees and in the process jinxed them--something he always does. And the worst part is I'm not completely sold on Burnett pitching well since he has been inconsistent. so much for my MVP pick.
yeah, Celtic looked good against the Cavs after their slow start. I'm still rooting for the old guys of Boston. lol. as for the 09-10 season, this should be entertaining since the top-tier teams from last year--well, not so much the Spurs of last year; they had injuries all over the place--got even better. I'm intrigued by all the off-season acquisitions, especially Orlando replacing Turkoglu with Carter and Jefferson to the Spurs since both can be great as a 2 or a 3. as much as I despise the Lakers, they're still above Boston or Cleveland or San Antonio, and I expect Phil Jackson to handle the Artest experiment well. L.A.'s still the favorite to win and repeat. *pukes*
Man I can't wait to see the latest chapter animated, what with the Beamspam of the Pacifista squad.

Just make sure you don't end up like Wilson from House MD (if you even watch(ed) it. Can't you push some of your work onto another colleague or student or something? Guess that would be mean. I'm glad that I got a pretty quick response.
Yeah, those are the series that I'm watching as well. Nyan Koi is funny, that's at least what I think of it. Kimi ni Todoke is cute in pure love, while Kobato is funny because of her ditzyness. And one smexy bishounen. Ah, gomen, gomen. Well, make sure you don't get too absorbed in your new game, otherwise you just might turn into a gamer and abondon your MAL and me.
New... Something new, huh? No, not really. I went to the dentist's today and it took somewhat like an hour to drill and fill my teeth. Yes, multiple: I had 2 of them. It hurts now that my anesthesia doesn't work anymore. Anyhow, I could say that I'm more busy 'recycling' than doing something new: I'm rewatching a lot of stuff and this is the last day of my one-week vacation of school (well, actually that's Sunday, but I always think that Friday is the last official vacation day). My sister's going to celebrate her birthday here tomorrow. She's two years older than you are. She'll also bring some people with her who want to stay the night here. I still need to do homework as well. It's going to be one crazy weekend. Or not. Nothing much is going on except for that.

Hunter being the first anime I ever watched makes it quite special to me; its sheer awesomeness is a bonus. XD It's actually the only show I'm purchasing the box sets of at the moment. Everything else just gets queued up in netflix. =P
Yep, good old KC. Good for barbecue and hospitals, at least for us in the suburbs. XD Med school, huh? Pretty awesome. Way to go you and your friend. ^^ And you still find time to watch anime? Impressive. I guess we all need a release. If you don't mind my asking, of the many series you've watched, which one would you most recommend to a shounen/mystery/action-loving girl like me, preferably with a memorable soundtrack? I'm always open to suggestions from like-minded people. ^_^
Random: Starting with the excellently animated Kakashi Gaiden in episodes 119-120, Shippuuden has finally picked up the pace to what it should have been from the start. And they're sticking quite faithfully to the manga. At least for the time being. ^^'

Hi. I'm Twisted. ^_^
After submitting a recommendation for Sword of the Stranger, I realized we viewed things quite similarly. Whenever someone else comments on the quality of a soundtrack, it perks my interest. Turns out we've got quite a bit in common. ^^ I heartily approve of your favorites lists.
