I understand what you are saying. It's not that i don't understand Shuurei completely. It's just that, from what i've seen, and even from your words, she sounds like a very VERY selfish person to me. I will try to explain why i dislike her. I'm not trying to argue your point, btw, just stating some of my own thoughts.

You kept mentioning the kind of man that Shuurei needs. That she needs a strong man, a man who has 'found' himself in life, a man who would be above her. Did you notice that everything you mentioned is about what Shuurei needs? She gives me an impression of someone sitting there being all high and mighty and pondering whether Ryuuki reached the level of the man that she needs yet. That is very selfish from my point of view. How come nobody looks at what -Ryuuki- needs and wants? How come Shuurei is allowed to be selfish and decide who she wants to be with, while it brings so much pain to Ryuuki? Why does she keep confusing him like that? I can't stand to see him so sad and miserable because certain someone can't make up her mind for 70+ episodes T_T I just don't see why she thinks she can be so high and mighty and take all the time in the world with her feelings for Ryuuki.

You said that she needs a man stronger than her, someone maybe a little forceful, someone like Sakujun. Explain to me then, why whenever Ryuuki attempts to kiss her or kisses her, she starts yelling at him and getting angry. When Sakujun was coming on to her, she did not even try to resist. This is the point, the whole Sa province arc, is the point that made me really dislike Shuurei. The fact that she never clearly told Ryuuki of her feelings before she left. He was waiting for her to make up her mind, he thought of her day and night. While she was, excuse me, flirting around with Sakujun. There is no way i'd believe that she did not realize what Sakujun's intentions were. For goodness sake, she was playing erhu for him while he was laying in his bed! >< And she kept remembering Ryuuki only when Sakujun made some kind of romantic approach towards her. She was comparing them. I'm sorry, but you just don't compare people like that. I understand that she was maybe confused, but this was just making me angry. And Sakujun, she was leading him on as well. She never whole-heartedly rejected him either. Yes, sure, she is a young naive girl. But you can't be so naive that you wouldn't notice the man is interested in you. And she never spoke clearly to him either. Not to Ryuuki, and not to Sakujun. I think in this arc she was very cruel, to both of them. Don't get me wrong, i am -not- blaming Shuurei for Sakujun's death. There was no way she could have known or seen that coming. Heck, even I could not foresee that he would fall in love with her -this- deeply. But she should have rejected him. As much as it might have hurt, she should have kept saying "no" to him and pushing him away, instead of leading him on. Because that would have been much less painful, and perhaps he would not have ended up the way he did.

That was in the romance department. There is more of why i dislike Shuurei. The way she treats people in general. First of all, Ryuuren. There were many instances, but i'm focusing on the part where he came to comfort her after Sakujun died. I don't know about you, but if my best friend came over in the middle of the night, i probably would not greet him or her with "why are you here, it's so late" or tell him or her that if they want to visit, they should do it before it gets late. Every time Ryuuren shows up, she has that "geez, it's Ryuuren" look on her face, why? He did so much for her, why can't she appreciate him a little more? I just don't understand this. Her overall attitude makes me very upset. Her bossy attitude, and she keeps telling people how they should be and keeps touching upon their morals. She wasn't even like that in the first season, but in season two that attitude keeps increasing. I just don't understand who does she thinks she is that she thinks she can tell people how they should act or what they should do o_o It's like, she is forcing her own 'right and wrong' on others, thus claiming that everyone should follow her way of being a 'good' person. I am talking about TanTan of course. Nothing is wrong is a guy just wants to be lazy and relax. There is no reason that Shuurei should be allowed to lecture him on the way he leads his life. But TanTan gets harassed by nearly everyone, for no good reason, so i don't even know what to think about that. I'm just glad that at least he said to Shuurei's face everything that was building up in me as i was watching it. I'm happy that he said all those things to her and opened her eyes a little.

That being said, what i dislike is how she treats other people. People she is involved with romantically or in any other way. I like her confidence and strength, i really do admire that. But she is not the center of the world she seems to think she is, and her way isn't necessarily everyone else's way. I have my beliefs but i don't force them on people. I don't try to change anyone for what i believe is 'better'; i just accept people for what they are, even if we disagree. And Shuurei can't seem to accept everyone equally.

i get what you're saying. Shuurei has feelings for Ryuuki, that's obvious, but it's been 39+35 (what i've seen) = 74 episodes, i am getting kind of annoyed with her "i have feelings for him, but i am not going to admit it, and i shall keep rejecting him too". she could at least stop acting so distant D: but that's not even the main reason i dislike Shuurei *cough*Sakujun*cough* >.> either way, Madhouse better start planning the 3rd season 'cause that story is not ending at all o.o lol

i don't know about Shuurei really, but i definitely can't see Ryuuki loving anyone else. he is just so devoted to her, and she is just.. not as devoted to him. it bothers me that she keeps giving him some hope but still keeps rejecting him =/

D: sorry, not a Shuurei fan at all, let alone Ryuuki x Shuurei xD i liked her at first (like during first couple episodes lol). well she is smart, i'll give her that much xD i do want them to be together eventually though, solely for Ryuuki's sake.

I simply love SaiMono and I want to buy the DVDs ASAP when they're starting to sell them again... It's been a while since I posted that reply here, right? xD If you need more reversed harem, watch Neo Angelique Abyss (or any other Angelique spinoff). The story isn't that good (it's pretty crappy to be honest), but the bishounen make it allright. I'm looking forward to an OVA that comes out in Novembre, Heart no Kuni no Alice. It's an reversed harem anime based on the story of Alice in Wonderland, but with bishounen and added romance, as read on MAL. Must... see... The upcoming anime season (September - November) looks very good. Anyhow, I got still some recommends for you. I'll just sum them up.

DNAngel, Cardcaptor Sakura, Code Geass(even though it isn't shoujo, but mecha and almost shounenlike, it's definitely a very good anime), Death Note(don't know if you'll like it, just give it a try), Fruits Basket, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha (it gets awesome from episde 4+), Mai-Hime (good action, but I'm warning you for a slightly shoujo-ai overtone, but it's not that disturbing), Rozen Maiden, Shakugan no Shana, Shigofumi (this one's pretty dark and the story is slowly building up), Spice and Wolf, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon (even if I didn't watch it), Tsubasa Chronicles and last but not least, Ultra Maniac.

That's pretty much, so I guess you'll manage with this... xD I do still have some manga recs... Koukou Debut is very funny, just as Junai Tokkou Taichou.
