Well... I usually suck at 'about me' sections, so I tend to leave them blank, but I'll give it a try.
The first cartoons I remember watching were Scooby Doo and He-Man. I moved to Germany where we only had one channel; it was cartoons during the day and old black and white movies at night. Three years later we moved back to the states and I was still stuck on classic movies and spent a whole summer watching nothing but AMC. Once school started I had little time for tv. I was able to watch, maybe, a couple shows before and after school. I do remember watching Sailor Moon a few times, but I never seemed to catch it consecutively.
I didn't watch anime again until about five years ago when I met a friend through WOW that watched it. I asked for a recommendation and they suggested '
Naruto'. Well I didn't know any better and attempted to watch it in dub. That lasted all of thirty seconds before it was shut off. The voice of Naruto in the dubbed version makes me cringe. Took me a few months to warm back up to the idea of trying another anime. I finally got into it, I just made sure that whatever I was watching was always subbed. One of the few exceptions, for me, would be '
Initial D'. I don't know why, but I find the dubbed version HILARIOUS. I have watched it at least four times all the way through as dubbed and at least two times subbed.
So, once I got into anime, I think I was like most, I became pretty obsessed. I tried all genres, lengths, and art styles. I still do. About two years ago I came across '
Hana Yori Dango' which lead me to '
Boys Before Flowers' which then lead me to Korean and Japanese dramas. I was the exact same way with K&J dramas that I was with anime. I couldn't get enough. & through Korean and Japanese dramas I found K & J pop/rock.
