Yo Yama, sorry about the late reply.
Letter Bee is going great so far. It seems like the chemistry between Lag and Niche will be quite tight. At least that's the impression I am getting so far. Odd, because it didn't really seem that way on the OVA. Then again, it was only an OVA right? ^_^;
You really should try some console gaming man. Online stuff is cool, but there are some really good games for the consoles. Unless of course, you use a ROM/download them to play it on the net. Sneaky!
Cool video man, so I take it it started to gentle rain on your walk...that turned into more heavier rain? Man that vid was so relaxing. I love to hear it rain at night, puts me to sleep. -_- Zzzzzz
Hahaha, yes I would love cheese with my tea! :P
Been doing good man, just struggling to get a new position at work. Not going good at present, but I am hopeful.
How has everything been with you?

Oh no, you've gone silent again?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!1!!!

So you don't like the term: "Yama the bad guy?" Sorry about that. But what am I going to do with all these wanted posters I made? ;_;
Hahaha, just playing with ya bud! :)
MidnightGorgonzola? Yet a second possibility for a future username! :D
Well I have been sleeping much better now. If I am having my problems though, I put the radio real low and listen to Jazz music. It purrs me to sleep.
Cold tea is fine too, but what the heck I'll drink it now! :)
So in all seriousness, do you have any plans on what you want to do at your next job? Also, how come you got layed off/quit in the first place? :(

No you wouldn't have "just" sent a late reply, you would have totally chewed me up and spit me out. I know you Yama, and I know how your mind works. You pretend to be my pal, but in the background you are actually contemplating my doom!!!1!!
Huh? Whad'ya mean I have too much time to think about things??!! How rude!!!11!
Hahahaha, I kid!
Oh actually I have had quite a bit of different types of chesses in my life time. I think one of my favorites is goat's cheese. Many people down play it but I think it's delicious. Of course because I grew up on Cheddar (literally) , I just couldn't resist to call myself that. I think if I would have used another exotic type of cheese, people wouldn't have known what I was talking about.
Wait, you mean you didn't even have a job these past few weeks, and still no contact from Yama????!!!! This is the straw that broke the camels back. Put my tea in the fridge, I am now retreating into my dark corner of woe.

Yo Yama, long time no chat...again. I was actually thinking about commenting you a few days ago, but I thought maybe you were busy these past few weeks.
Oh yeah, I did change my name eh? :P Reason is because I changed it to this name on other sites I am on a few weeks ago. So to keep my name the same on all sites that is why I did it here. Besides, what could be better than eating cheddar at midnight? XD
Anyway, you can still call me Ziggy if you want, no problem.
Ah so you have been MMORPGing around I see. Never played that game. Only World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. I have been busy with short titles as of late, trying to finish up the currently airing programs and a few others.
Nope, no tea for me, you know I have to have the Yama brand style.
Nothing new much going on with me...same ol same ol. Leaving to go out with a friend in a few minutes.
How's work been?

Not quite (Amazon lists an October release) but things do have the habit of sneaking onto the shelves before street dates. I suppose this means I best be on my guard for it soon.

Hey there Yama, I was wondering what happened to you, glad to be chatting again! :)
Whoa, finally an English adaption has come, thought it would never get here, I am still counting down the days till the actual anime airs...among others of course!
Ah okay thank you for explaining the differences with CCS and K-ON! in BD. Honestly, I forgot we were even talking about that! ^_^;
So how have you been mate?
Thanks for the tea, don't be such a stranger dude!

They removed all the episodes of "Cooking Idol Ai! Mai! Main!" on Youtube! ._.

Okay man, sounds like the anime might be worth picking up,if I get some extra time this month I'll see if I can check it out. I am still counting down the days until "Kobato" airs, not till October though, so the wait continues for me. :( I am a CLAMP nerd as you probably know.
Man I honestly haven't watched an episode of Cardcaptor Sakura in about a year, really should get back to seeing it. Every time I hear the background music a flood of memories starts coming back to me. So did the quality look like a 3D sort of way, what's the difference?
No no no, not at all man, high quality video is always better. But K-ON!, how did you watch it in that format? Internet...television? Sorry, probably a dumb question for me to ask.
*drinks Lady Green tea*
Thanks Yama, you have a good rest of the day too man, take it easy out there! :)

Hahahaha, so Yama was involved in his own personal episode of "Letter Bee". Not cool man, I really want to be in one myself, or at least in an anime that takes place on a tropical beach for me to relax in! :D Well either way I am glad to see that your tale got a happy ending! :P
I know how you feel though man, sometimes I too will shout out random Japanese phrases without even noticing it. Guess it's just our Otaku-ness showing up in the most random of places.
So was "Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo" good? I was actually thinking about picking that up when it aired, but I thought it might turn out to be mediocre. What say you?

I have a friend at work who's been a big fan of Sweeney Todd since the 70s, so I've seen it and liked it well enough (the theatrical version, not the Tim Burton movie). Same friend is cautious about Dan Simmons's Hyperion because she was very deeply disturbed by some of the horror trappings.
I, personally, had to work myself up to horror of that nature; I've never liked violence too much and even super-cheesy live-action gore special effects (think Bruce Campbell movies) are frequently too much for me. I'm (obviously) a little more comfortable with violence and horror and such, but I can't watch (or read) something just to get off on the shock-thrill of violence and carnage, I have to like the story that underpins it. So you're not alone, I feel / have felt the same way. I spent a year refusing to watch Higurashi because it was "scary" and "disturbing" (which it was, except I found that I liked it). I pulled the same stunt on Mushishi and had to seriously shift my perspective for me to come around to liking it.
Which, I think, is generally what taste comes down to anyway, for me. If I can't attain the perspective necessary to like / enjoy something, then I probably don't like it. And vice versa.

Grand Guignol is a very bloody, very amoral theatrical style, named after the turn-of-the-century French theater of the same name. It mostly involves killing people a lot. Think Sweeney Todd, although that's Sondheim.
How odd; I myself also listen to good music and watch good anime! Which just goes to show the malleability of the term "good," I think. Personally I find the word rather abused and maligned, as though it were a Higurashi character.
Variety is the spice of life; sometimes I feel as though I like life blackened with every spice from the spice cabinet. Even the incompatible ones. Especially the incompatible ones.
|
|
I'm guessing you just don't like the Grand Guignol-style and/or penny dreadful-style narrative, which is perfectly fine; I can't really explain why I like them either, as I can sometimes barely figure it out myself. But, then, I can't figure out how most things I like fit together in a neat, tidy picture, so...
I think sometimes I'm just the modern version of the 19th century Romantics but that may be because all those fun melancholic words are among my favorite words. Or something.

Yeah, I hope you like Cooking Idol. They are geared towards a young audience, so don't expect too much from it. I just love the whole cooking theme it has.
Fireball, I did like, I just wish they would have at least changed the backgrounds on it, all the episodes looked the same to me, it was funny though. By the way, did they end up leaving the castle at the end? I had to see the last episode in raw form unfortunately.
Oh wow, cool figure. You are quite the collector man. I guess it was pretty neat that it was made in conjunction with Disney.
Night Yama, and thanks for the tea!
