A bit about myself, I started watching animes just September last year and have since progressed at a worrying pace. xD
As for Anime preference, the only kinds I absolutely can't stand are overly explicit shonen-ai and ecchi. -OMG I hate ecchi- I value comic relief, so I naturally enjoy funny shows.
The foolproof character personality that I definitely will love in guys is the half-insane kind, who also has a serious side. Classic examples: Komui, Tamaki, Shigure. A few traits which will win me over would be: responsible, caring, funny (very very important!!), smart, dignified. I don't like obsessive/one-track minded/despo guys.
For girls, my lines of like and dislike are less distinct. I haven't found the exact trigger, but I generally like independent, realistic (in terms of behavior and figure) and sensible girls. I cannot stand crybabies and superglues (which is like 80% of the main female characters in Shonen), and prefect-in-every-way goddesses (in 65% of Shojo).
I am VERY ruthless in my ratings... anything 7 and above is really good already actually... =D I just have the mentality that since we're given a scale of 1 to 10, we should make use of the full deflection, so please don't be offended if you see your favourite shows getting a 5 or so...
My Rating "System"
10- perfection! (rest assured I'll never let more than 5 shows get this rating XD)
9- consistently good. So it is only different from an 8 because it doesn't have much noticeable flaws
8- can already be considered as one of my favourite shows, but probably has a few flaws which bring it down a notch
7- pretty good, definitely worth it
6- worth my time (naturally, shorter shows will get this score more easily)
5- if I had known better, I wouldn't have completed it
4- any time spent after the watching first few episodes is time wasted
3- complete waste of my time
2- either its "yuck", or "rarrgh" or "=.="
1- one of the great regrets of my life
Oh, so it's perfectionist spirit... I want to tender my resignation as your conscience...
If you come across any good ones (meaning they last longer than SID), be sure to tell me.
I still have no idea what the rabbit game is about, and I want to be surprised (i.e. shocked by the stupidity) when I play it for the first time.
Bleh I didn't like the Magic Study one. Maybe it's because in The Hunger Games it's more innocent. And The Seventh Tower is my favourite series of all time. Just fyi, in the end the boy didn't get killed. Or if you want something more mature (btw, not in the romance department, but overall story), try the Old Kingdon series.
No, sometimes it goes up, sometimes it stays. So that's why I give up.
i thought it's holiday for u and u still have to do work like presentation stuffs?? i have been busy and i was sick for a few days o_o
yes u are ruthless!! i don't drop though i will give low scores lolx
manga is equally slow as well. only those popular ones like naruto and bleach will have a new chapter released each week. those that i like are like taking so damn long, like one chapter per month oh my god
i do think i am not that strict! XD had been quite nice to my tuition students. tried not to scold them cos i simply can understand when they feel tired. i do feel tired just going school only. can't imagine how much more tired i would be if i have to attend tuition sessions.
i was also the non mugger in mugger class when i was in secondary school. so ended up my o level result was not that bad, but my class people all get damn good results.
forward module is like u failed a module in this semester, u have to take it again with other people and not your class people. u are gonna have lesser modules to take already also. cos it's like u are extending half a year more. so the remaining modules will be spread out more as well.
recently i seem to don't hate romance series that much already! partly maybe cos i have watched most of the nice shounen series already. sometimes when i see people updated their lists with some of those that i like, i envy them! thinking how nice it would be if i haven't watch them and i can watch those series now.
i think it's the art as well. again, u are almost heartless! i am still watching it and i seem to quite like it lolx
gintama is still loved after so long! sadaharu is so cute! but i still love gintoki the most. it's never boring for me lolx
really? well try other docus that doesn't center on tragedies...
XXD

bishies are boys that looks like girls...
i tried watching la corda d oro...and VK...
la corda i liked...VK, hehehehe...not for me...

Well, I do put on my anime reviewer hat quite a bit. I think reviewers in general are difficult to please, but hey, I know what I like and I can explain to people why I like what I like :3
RxJ needed to have Tybalt come early and often. That's the bottom line really. I grew fed up with the show and never finished it. Can't say I have too many regrets.
For K-ON, you ask me, the creators needed a loli version of Mio to appeal to the crowd. That's the only reason I can come up with for Azusa's existence. That makes for a rather depressing thought mostly because it actually worked.
Interesting commentary on H&C too. Yamada is definitely one of those characters that you really feel bad for since you do know she tries really hard, and she's not a bad person by any stretch. But despite that, Mayama's just too focused on Rika to be able to share his heart. Yes, very much a lovely series with great moments that brings with it a sense of realism really well.
Haha, I remember dropping Baccano once before a friend of mine convinced me to give it another look. Once I figured out what was going on, it turned into one heck of a thrill ride. A lot of quirky characters to make it all interesting, that's pretty much the selling point. That, and the intro. Love the big band jazz in that one.
well....some times i had to search but i pretty much settled down on one...hmm depends on whether i start another anime first XD
nah letting your brain rot is good for health animes are ggod too but realli i guess it helps me alot since in do actually watch alot XD IM GONNA CHIONG AFTER THIS WEEK AHAHA
hahah.. anyway... it's really up to you to decide though.. if u cant really enjoy an anime and u think it's boring..
well, you can't immediately switch ur habit.. right?
Just the ~After Story~. I think the OP/ED for the first season was by riya and Chata respectively. The thing that really caught my ear for Lia's performance on the ~AS~ arc was that it was filled with a whole lot of emotion, one that drives the point home further if you understand the lyrics. At least, that's how it was for me =3 Torch wasn't that great though, and the mood was kind of ruined on several occasions.
Well, with Lucky Star... it's certainly not a great anime. There were stretches in which the show got really drawn out, but when the series showed gold, it was fantastic. The bad thing is that there weren't enough of those moments and that, I think, allows you to declare that its potential was sort of wasted.
Romeo x Juliet is nothing short of a sore point for me. From the start, I was led to expect that the show would have girl power written all over it with Juliet doing some awesome stuff like leading a revolution. So the epic scope of the story is there, but I didn't think they took advantage of that too well. Once Romeo and Juliet abandoned Neo Verona proper to run away into the forest, I was filled with disgust at how irresponsible those two were. Yes, they were teenagers, but man, I'd like to think I was more mature than that at their age.
Oh well, at least the soundtrack is awesome. Needless to say, I love Hitoshi Sakimoto's music, and he delivers a fantastic experience in that one!
K-on had the ability to be fun, but it was wasted, because the execution was so poor. It didn't help how mindless things got sometimes. Mio and Azusa was mostly their for fanservice, Mugi is the token yuri goggles girl, and everyone else was various stages of annoying. In comparing that show with others that carry a similar setup, I'd much much prefer Hidamari Sketch. Now that's a show that does the four schoolgirls in a slice of life series fine.
As for DtB, it's a case of not really getting what was going on. I never like Misaki Kirihara since her only purpose was to provide a narrative which was not cohesive at times. But still, I know quite a few who like it, so I think in this instance, it might be just me.
Honey and Clover is just excellent! Its high points are in being able to create a cast of wonderful, sympathetic characters. The amount of attention that Kasai pays to each member of the cast shows in the final product as you're able to empathize with their plight and even identify with some of them. Part of the thing that gets me to really like the show is the characters, and if they can make up a strong, sympathetic cast, I'll be hooked!
As for Baccano, it's just a load of fun. I'd hardly consider it a deep show because there's not much thought that it requires (no ethical debates to consider like in Gunslinger Girl). The fact that they're able to combine so many characters into a short series while coming up with a cohesive story is remarkable and I was entertained the whole way through.
A year is a really short time, you know. I went through this past year without really knowing it went by.
Most whites, or maybe I should say those living in the west, get implants. See all those "Western-born" Asians with big boobs and you should know why. Sex sells, it's a fact. Just take a look at our SG idols. Very often, looks plays an important part.
Er, Mio is very unnatural, but I do know alot of girls like that. See a kazhua and run like the wind scream their heads off. Mugi was just the quartet's answer to Lucky Star's Miyuki.
I guess I'm surprised you haven't heard much from Lia. Tori no Uta from Air is fairly well known, and she also did the OP and ED for Clannad ~After Story~. Her rendition of Tiny Palm (also from Clannad) is fantastic!
Lucky Star practically requires that you've seen Haruhi the whole way through and have a very good background on games and anime in general. If I could describe that series, it'd be a series made by anime fans for anime fans. All those references they toss about are only enjoyable if you actually recognize where they come from. :P
lol i just finished the one whr they kena the hay fever and gt some damn scary amanto or smth...they sneezed "Micheal jackon"
woah i laughed like shit man damn funny...especially when shinpachi ask them to sneeze properly
i always watch anime so i dun nd to think XD
yep of coz im rite XD just joking iimm not always right but i guess i am this time XD
Well, you can probably count the number of J-pop artists who display a lot of variety with one hand. I know that most of the ones I listen to do have a tendency to sound the same. Still remember the first time I listened to ELISA's "euphoric field" and thought that sounded fine. Then I listened to "ebullient future" and realized that was nearly the exact same track as the previous. It went downhill from there.
The group that I tend to have most problems with is I've Sound, the people who've signed KOTOKO and Mami Kawada. I'm fairly convinced that the only way those two artists in particular are going to get any good is if they find a different group to work with. It worked for Lia at least :P (and I probably rank Lia as my favorite singer overall).
Because of that, I'm more or less resigned to accepting that the anisong scene isn't going to change all too much and just focus on the artists who come up with decent enough tunes even if the songs they perform sound a bit too similar or are difficult to differentiate. Oh well, that's why we have groups like Kalafina and Lia (and Nana Mizuki to a lesser degree) to listen and enjoy.
As for Aya Hirano, I agree with the thought out there that she's just at the right place at the right time. That's pretty much it. Her Haruhi voice was good and her Konata from Lucky Star voice was decent. Everything else is so-so or slightly worse.
