I really enjoyed your Evangelion review. While I don't necessarily consider what was written to constitute a review itself, I think what you wrote was important in acknowledging the depth of Shinji as a character. That being said, I hope more people see it, especially people who are quick to write him off as that "emo kid/beta male" archetype. I think part of the problem is that people fail to realize how close he was modeled after the writer, and I think seeing that projection of the writer onto his character attests to his humanity. That was something that really resonated with me, as I'm sure it did with others. It's a shame that a character that acts so human and hits so close to home is accused of being shallow and unrealistic. Kind of ironic, really.
My opinions aside, I hope to see more of your writing in the future. Your ability to express a well-substantiated opinion so articulately is a rare talent, especially in the grammatical slaughterhouse that is MAL.

Indeed. They tried hard to make the romance work but it never did. The relationship was at best co-dependant just like 2 sick ppl (a soulless girl and a need-to-be-loved guy) found each other and supported each other. They had no real time to bond so much and seeing so much of the plot rely on them.... just hurt.
Action might have been simplistic but I think that was the only redeeming feature it actually has rly. The rest was so bad, that it made action better. Not all of the scenes ofc cause the fights with Darth (it has awesome music and some rare nice scenes) and Gai were absolutely ridiculous and there were tons of times that made me wonder how Shu does it.
Plot-wise... it could have been so good.... But a horrible main lead, a horrible female lead, a horrible set of friends (except Haru in my eyes) and a pretty much a horrible anti-government team and the horrible advancement... All the chars that began well, ended in utter failure ESPCIALLY that Kuhouin girl...
This anime is so bad, I don't understand how there are ppl saying it's epic x.x
