My name is Polly, and I am the somewhat proud owner of and atrociously bad head writer for Socksmakepeoplesexy.Net. Perhaps you've heard of us. That site with the Final Fantasy articles? Yeaahhh, I think you know who we are now! We're kinda neat! (read: but not.) Though we've been mostly focused on videogames (yes, I spell it as one word, if you don't like that, then A PLAGUE ON YOUR HOUSE!) since the site's creation in 2005, we've begun to feature a number of Japanese Cartoon reviews over the past few years.
I've been actively watching and collecting Japanese Cartoons (Yep! I buy stuff! Suck it!) since around 1992 starting in the VHS days, and my first exposure to them was somewhere around 1988. I tend to prefer action/sci-fi shows, but I also dig quiet and moody shows from time to time such as Sora no Woto and Haibane Renmei. From 2000-2005, I stopped watching Japanese Cartoons due to burn out. The only shows I watched during this time were both Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series. It wasn't until watching Elfen Lied, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Gunslinger Girl, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni that my interest in Japanese Cartoons was fully re-ignited and I've been actively watching and expanding my collection since then.
I keep manga reading to a minimum. Reason being, I tend to burn through volumes way too fast to justify purchasing them (save a few very special exceptions.)
I really have no idea why I finally decided to fill this out.
