About shopgirlcanada
Hi I’m Bianka. I grew up in B.C. but am now going to university in Ontario. So the general how did I start liking anime: My school was an international boarding school so we started learning Japanese in grade 4 and our sensei would always give out random sanrio erasers/pencils/tissue packets (something inherently Japanese) to the class and I immediately fell in love with all the cutesy stuff…let me tell you now I have a pink Hello Kitty Clipboard that I definitely take with my to all of my lectures (in addition to the spew of pencils/pens/glittery shiny japanese/korean things that fill my multitude of pencil cases)

My first anime was Gundam Wing…my best friend and I were bored and flipping through channels when I stumbled across it and my attention was instantly caught by the crazy Trowa hair (although my favourite is Heero!), I sat through the whole thing (she I think wondered off to the computer not being very impressed with the show)…ending song included, which is why I then how I first saw DBZ which starts right after. That was a Friday night and from then on every Friday night I taped those few eps on YTV and would watch them with my breakfast the next day.

Soon sailormoon and Pokémon came along followed by anime movies in Japanese class and soon I was fully addicted. I was constantly yelled at by my sister for slowing down the computer with all of the torrents (until I discovered sites like veoh :D) and slowly half of my birthday requests changed from clothes to manga/DVDs and other anime related paraphernalia and that is pretty much how it is today as well. I don’t buy a lot of DVDs only the few series that I really like, because I know I will watch them again. I have quite a bit of manga but my main thing is I collect keychains/pins/figures and plushies. Most of the storage space in our apartment if filled with all my anime stuff over the summer (since I come back home from university)…don’t know what I am going to do when I have to move back permanently…*freaks out*

Asides from anime I have two other obsessions – music and fashion –

Music:

Making that list was tiring so that’s it for now….

!!!!excitement excitement!!! going to Japan in August....and that means Comiket
...dosn't look like I will be able to watch any anime until August though, working as a Co-Op student this summer and its pritti crazy

Alohaaa, lol yeah don't worry about it! I admit it was a very long message. Thanks for letting me know that you won't be able to read it though! and yeah, recommend me some jap music when you get back =D

rockaric | 08-13-08, 10:51 AM
LOLLLLL monster message is an understatement.
ahhh can't complain though, not up to much at the moment. could do with a good reaaad!
Yeah, sometimes I hate my internet, it sometimes has a spaz attack!
Even now i'm on facebook, started acting slightly gay when I tried signing in. Kept getting disconnected grrr...
Yeah, I have a 30gb Ipod, it's not bad. Had it for quite some time though, so currently it lacks space =(
Might invest in a new one. I had a crappy 1gb, that was after I owned a CD player. It felt like I only had 10 songs on there! (okay, slight exaggeration there).
But ahhh, the newer models look quite funky (I have the one before that, it was a lot similar than the older one).
haha at your computer. I used to keep all my music on my mac, but then my computers performance just sunk. Whenever I typed something, it would take quite a few seconds for the words to appear. Whenever my friends used my mac, they would always laugh at me and call it an exclusive hahaha. But then I bought an external hard drive and put all my music and videos on there....SWEET!
ooohhhhhhhh, gaaah, you mentioned the word 'media' curse you! it just brings back memories of my terrible media lessons in college with my terrible pervy teacher...loooong story. He would just always go on about some woman who lives down his street, he's about 50. and he goes on about how sexy she is. It's quite disturbing.
anywhooooo, yeah with my shed, it's primarily used for music, but we use it for other stuff as well, like we have a pool table in there, a tv and my nintendo wii =D
ahhh, you're a gamer too eh?
lol, my CDs are staying in the recording room/shed, they shall NEVER be moved! All my CDs are in alphabetical order, took me a while, but i'm proud *geeky snort*
lol I used to play violin, was forced to play it. but only for about 2 years, was never good at it. Guitar is kindaaa easy to play. I'm self taught, found some tutorials online and just progressed from them really and got really into itttt. You should look into it =P
Haha, send in a print screen of my comments to the press eh? I like your style.
Wellllllll, my cousin is really into music as well, so he bought quite a bit of equipment to replace some of his old stuffff and then gave me his old stuff. But it's alright, I really like it. But hopefully i'll write some stuff one day and record ittttt. I've just been playing some covers though, just improve my guitar playing!
Ahhh, the sweet burning vinyl record smell. That is seriously what I smell lol, but I love it.
oooooooo heavy metal phase eh? I went through a grunge stage when I was like 13 years old lol. But I didn't dress or act like a stereotypical grunger, just liked the music. Not anymore though =/
I used to watch some episodes of the osbournes, but gaaah, I can't stand kelly osbourne, I don't know what it is, just can't stand her. hahahaha, his stuttering, I couldn't really make out some of the stuff he tried to say. But yeah, when I first heard one of his songs 'Dreamer' I was a bit shocked at comparing his singing to him talking on the osbournes =O
But you found it attractive? haha
That's alright thennnn, it's annoying when some of my music goes missing, I blame my brother. lol yeah, I have to school my dad sometimes. I seem to know more than him, but I could agree with your point though, he does seem to forget things as he gets older -__-
llol, yeah I get what you mean. Parents do that a lot at the moment, it's because they don't want you to outsmart them on things, so they just try and come up with questions that we can't answer...my parents do that sometimes, but my dad gets slightly embarrassed if I get the questions right. He expects me to not know somethings...
NOOOOOOOOOOO! I hate cricket with a passion lol. It's really because of my computer lessons in college. My teacher was Sri Lankan and my friend was from India and they were really big on cricket. They would argue all the time if India was to beat sri lanka or vice versa. They would claim the other country was cheating. Especially the time of the recent cricket world cup, they would forever talk about it =/
ooooooo I like Banquet, it was actually the first Bloc Party song I had heard or was it Helicopter =S
But it's still quite cool though that they're played in Canada, even if it is only two songs.
Yeah, The Prayer is quite different. My friend says she can only listen it when she's in a weird mood. mhm, would be interesting to hear what's new from them, hopefully they'll release something new at the end of the year or the beginning of next year.

lol, super klutz. I'm sometimes a bit of a klutz, I have a tendency to drop things orrrr walk into things.
Kinder surprise! goshhh, haven't had one of them in ages. they're still going though, I like them. But they're small =/ but it's all about the toys inside.
lol yeah Yorkie, some girls get weird looks when they eat the yorkie bar, after it was given the the slogan "Yorkie...not for GIRLS!" (with a censor sign around a woman in a skirt). 2.50 for chocolate O_O
That's cool, take a bit of the british culture with you when you go back to canada XD
I can't think of many canadian bands, I used to be really into one canadian band Our Lady Peace. They're alright, don't listen to them often though.
I would say, when I was about 13 I used to only really love american stuffff, but now I prefer british bands.
Ahhh, yeah, I really like We Are scientists, I haven't got round to listening to their new album. But their debut album was definitely impressive.
I loveeeeee audioslave, I had only heard cochise, but my friend got tickets to see them. So I went and heard them live and they're amazing. Became a huge fan ever since. But then they broke up =(
I guess, I should stop my monster message. I had 2 cups of tea while replying to this. *random*

rockaric | 08-12-08, 5:08 PM
Meh, tried replying earlier, but my internet browser had a fit, everytime I kept clicking the reply button, the whole window went black...wtf?
yay, long comment! lol I just love reading long comments.
Yeah, I own an Ipod, i'm quite happy with it at the moment. itunes is pretty good, keeps all your songs organised and it's quite simple to use. At first I had a few problems with it, annoyed me slightly! But the ipod is just so compact, small and can store quite a lot of music (if you own one with a big hard drive). gaaaaah, yeah, over here a lot of CD stores are starting to close since a lot of people are starting to download these days. ooooooooo you have a record room? In my old house, we used to have one. But now, we have a huge shed in the garden, we did it up to look like a proper room. It's quite decent, because I play the guitar, so I have some recording equipment in there and my dad gets to play his vinyl, and if i'm ever bothered, I may put in a CD and just relax in there.
But hahahaha, at the record smell. We have that, since my dad has a lot of records. It's kinda like a burning smell in my shed hahahaha.
awwww, I love a bit of hendrix, don't mind bit of black sabbath, quite a bit of love for AC/DC!
ooooo. I would never let my parents sell any of my music, I love my music to bits lol
My dad used to be crazy like that, he's not so big on music like he used to. I'm pretty much taking over now, sometimes I even educate him about music in his day!
ohhh cool, I loved hunting for witches when it first came out, really played it out.
I would probably say my fave Bloc Party song of all time is The Prayer! I love it, so catchy.
I prefer their debut album stuff to their newer stuff though (but the newer stuff is still really good though!)
Yeah, Arctic Monkeys are brilliant. But I can get bored of them after a while, I kinda hunger for more I guess lol. Like i'm really big on them when they release new stuff.
Yeah, Klaxons are awesome. They're quite different from the stuff I usually listen to though, which is quite cool. awwww, hurt your fingers on the corner of the CD cases, bless lol
I was quite surprised with your favourite bands though, I can understand that The Beatles were/are REALLY popular around the world. But some of the British bands that you like, it's nice to know that they're recognized in Canada (even if you are the only one their who has heard of them lol)
aww, yeah, sometimes when I find a new band, I always try to look for something a bit different, so even when I recommend a band to a friend, their not keen on it at first =/
ermmmm for top 5 fave bands, I would probably say

*Arctic Monkeys
*Bloc Party
*We Are Scientists (if you haven't heard of them, do listen to them!)
*Audioslave
*Muse

gaaah, so much more...

rockaric | 08-12-08, 1:16 PM
haha, no, no, it's alright. But I like the fact that you chose an oldie as your favourite band, than most young people (don't want to sound like i'm stereotyping), but I guess the oldies are really the classics and most probably some of the best music around!
I could agree with the Beatles being one of my personal faves, i'm really not sure if I have a fave of all faves. I love so many bands. Ahhh, Klaxons, yeah they hit big with their debut album, everyone went crazy over them. They're really good, they provide something different. But for band at the moment, I'd probably say Bloc Party, used to be Arctic Monkeys. But i'm kinda put off them for the moment (basically, whenever I went out I always listened to them).
lol, Yeah, it's alright, you're not old! I'm not a vinyl collector myself, but my dad is. He prefers it over CD's and MP3 players, he just gets a vibe from it when he plays vinyl. Even one of my friends loves vinyl. He's a really big fan of Jimi Hendrix, he has quite a collection of Hendrix vinyl.

Emoney_1986 | 08-12-08, 12:13 PM
Let me guess? Japan?! so are you going to get me something cool and send it to me? lol

I'm so jealous, but have a great time. You'll have to tell me all about it when you get back.

rockaric | 08-12-08, 9:48 AM
o0o0o0o0o central london eh?
Yeah, I love central london, but it's a shame I live in North West London -__-'
oooo, yeah Hot Chip are pretty good! Judging by the bands you put on your profile, I think you'll like them. Could say they're a bit underrated though lol =/
do you have a favourite band of your own?

UchihaFire | 08-12-08, 6:21 AM
Thank you very much for doing that. It means a lot to me. :)

rockaric | 08-12-08, 5:45 AM
lol thanks, it's not my dog though. It's my friends, I just thought the picture was really funny. I have dogs of my own, I may have to re-invent this picture, by putting wigs on them, randommmm =P
yupppp, i'm from London! I love it at times, be nice to travel though, gets a bit boring being in the same place lol.
oooooooo, what part of London did she stay?

StephanBlackhawk | 08-11-08, 10:37 PM
But I have to admit It's better then Ontario...and Winnipeg.

StephanBlackhawk | 08-11-08, 10:32 PM
Lol. I'm bad with making likes and dislikes that's why there so random. Ah BC, I'm from there It's really...boring.

rockaric | 08-11-08, 4:35 PM

Its Mizuho Kazami from onegai teacher/please teacher. I am very excited too and I can't wait for it to get here. She is in a little green bikini and sitting in a dessert cup while she has her own little dessert in hand.

I'm just starting to get in a picture taking mood as I go back to school. Also I sort of want to take a picture of all my manga. I seem to have gotten quite a bit since I didn't have much money for anime. Easier to spend 10 dollars than 20 I guess.

Yea, I usually go somewhere in the country so I don't fly too much. I can take as much junk as I want to throw in the car. I just hate moving everything in at cool. My mini fridge and all that stuff is heavy!

Emoney_1986 | 08-10-08, 5:42 AM
I like road trips and flying, but I hate packing so much. I am going to have to do that for school soon. Also cool new picture! You are sure to gain a bunch of young mal admirers now! ha ha. I'm getting my first figure soon so I am excited to see what all the hype is.
