Haven't gotten enough of France in your anime yet?

One is based on a classic French novel by Alexandre Dumas, and the other is loosely based on pre-French Revolution history. Both also contain elements of magic, mystery and political intrigue. Keep in mind, these are also both LOOSE adaptations, so be prepared for a few plot-deviations and historical inaccuracies. They're still great series though.

Is it weird that the anime with Ninja Superpowers is more accurate to Shakespeare than the one with Romeo and Juliet in it? I think so...

If you like anime about love, tragedy, and pine over what could have been if only fate had not been so cruel, these are definitly series for you. These series get you attached to wonderful, lovable characters, only to rip them away or put them into heart-wrenching moral delemas. Keep a box of tissues on hand if you get teary eyed over anime like that.

If you liked Nerima Daikon Brothers add

...then you might like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei add

Both are jading political satires about life in Japan, cleverly disguised as screwball comedies. Both can be enjoyed without any knowledge of Japanese life and society, but it's even more hilarious if you can enjoy it on that level as well.

Worth checking out if political satire is your thing.
