I am truly fascinated by this anime. It took more than a year to search for the episodes and to watch them, but it really worth it. To be a shoujo manga adaptation it is full with realistic allusions and it appears that the mangaka put a lot of work to form the story and the characters. This 51 episodes perfectly enough for the story to progress and also for the characters’ development.
Story: I have to say it is really amazing. The best shoujo anime I’ve seen so far and of course the second Tv anime adaptation of the great manga, Garasu no kamen. Unfortunatelly I haven’t read the manga, but truly did enjoy the anime. Already the first episode caught my attention and I was determined to find the rest of it and in spite of it took really long, I was able to complete it.
First maybe you think of it as another shoujo anime, with romance and ’I want to be an actress’ and the main character actually a genius who captivate everybody around with her talent and pureness. Of course it wouldn’t be a shoujo, if it doesn’t contain these parts. But the creator somehow put these things together so right, so realistic and many times so dramatic that you can’t stop watching it and you’re always curious what is going to happen next. It shows you not only the sparkling, amusing side of the theatre but also the cruel things. I liked especially the plays and how the roles were formed almost perfectly. The unusual love made it really sad but romantic, unforutanely it isn’t well developed. At the half of the series there is a tragic happening that the most heartwrecking thing that I’ve ever seen in anime. Of course the consequences were well made and the most character development happens at this point.
Another point of view this is a story of growing up, we can see how the little, clumsy Maya becomes a wonderful actress and the whole hard work she does for it. It is really good to see how the good or bad things make her stronger but she doesn’t lose herself and she is always keeps going forward for somebody who is always support her from the backgrounds. There is always the one that we fight for and unknowingly that person becomes our most important thing, but do we really have to lose that thing to realize how precious it was? 10 points
Characters: The characters were the soul of the whole anime. Their personalities were made real, living, I liked them the most in it.
In details:
Maya is going through a lot of things, grow up in front of our eyes, become a famous and wonderful actress but also lose precious things in her life, but no matter what, she keeps going forward and does her best to reach her goal and play the role of Kurenai Tenjou. She shows us that pure talent is not enough to fulfill our dreams, we also have to make sacrifices for it. We can’t earn something without doing anything. I liked in her that until she got to know about the Kurenai Tenjou she did acting because this was the only thing Maya was good at, acting was her life and doing it made her feel happy. She has friends to support her and a secret fan who encourage her with the well known purpe roses, which always gives Maya a push to do her best. While growing up she learns more about herself and about acting and she fall in love for the first time, she is a real shoujo heroine.
Himekawa Ayumi: She is the daughter of a famous actress but she tries to separate herself from her mother’s fame and earn recogniction on her own. She also realized Maya’s ultimate talent in acting and this is what motivates her to be the best and don’t lack the hard work. She even takes special trainings on her own or with the lead of Tsukikage Chigusa. Unusually she doesn’t recognize Maya as an enemy and doesn’t try standing in her way with nasty tricks. Also she sometimes helps her to develope her talent. She just see Maya as a rival who she must surpass and that’s why she starts do acting seriously. She also claims that she couldn’t beat Maya in acting a single time since she appeared. Like Maya, acting is everything to her, she hasn’t got even friends because she thinks she doesn’t needs them. Acting is a special bond between them and unconsiously they became really close friends and they support each other in a way. Ayumi is a real lady also in her actions and speach and I really liked this in her.
Hayami Masumi: He is the president of the Daito Entertainment and he was enchanted by Maya’s talent and pureness and in spite of the age difference he falls in love with her. Masumi appears to be a cold hearted business man but Maya really starts to melt the ice around his heart. He supports her as Mr. Purple Rose and he tries to make it easy for Maya to develope her talent. He suffer from the love for her and he doesn’t know what to do about it, because of the age difference he feels guilty. He has a really complicated personality, while he loves Maya he also tries to keep a distance from her, calling her Chibi-chan or tease her, but he knows how important his purple roses for Maya. He also can’t forgive himself causing Maya so much suffering in an incident and that made him easy not to allow Maya to be close to him. Unfortunatelly their relationship wasn’t developed so much in the anime, but it is really beautiful relationship.
Tsukikage Chigusa: She is the former Kurenai Tenjou and she was a genious in he young years, but because of an accident she has to quit from acting. She is desperately tries to keep away the entertainment companies from Kurenai Tenjou, because she would like to find the one who can play it and it is also the only thing that left from her late lover. She is very strickt but she only want to develop Maya in acting and she is like a mother to her. I liked her character because of it’s admirable and respectfull aura that’s surrounds her. She once was a well known actress but after so much time people still recognize her as the greatest actress, and this is a proof of her highness. Also in spite of her bad health she just keeps doing her best to protect the Kurenai Tenjou and she just wants to live until one of the actresses are able to play her role. If she was a real person, I would truly respect her.
The characters were so detailed and well formed that I can't skip so I gave it 10 points
Art: The art is great, a little bit different form the original, but it is a product of the 21. century so I think it is well animated. And of course it developes time to time and the last episodes concentrating on the Kurenai Tenjou are really fascinating. Also the animation of the plays are great, detailed, the colors are vivid so it is good to see. The facial expressions are real too and these are really important in an anime like this. 9 points
Sound: The ost was really suited for this anime and highly affected the enjoyment. Sometimes especially during the plays, I had goosebumps from them so they were truly great. The opening themes and endings were also fit for the story and style of the show, some of them were quite energetic and they all gave the impression of a shoujo anime.
I was really fascinated by the seiyu performances, because they did a very important role in this. I mean they had to play their character also they had to be able to do the roles of the plays. And they did a really great job, for example Kobayashi Sanae as Maya. She became my favourite seiyu because of this role, also I really like Ayumi’s seiyu. Thanks to them the characters became alive and they formed them the best way they should be. I appreciate their work. 9 points
Enjoyment: I really enjoyed the series and I hoped for a continuation for it. Truly every episode was special, I knew so many plays and roles. Some of their performances impressed me the rate I searched for the book or the story for example I read Wethering Heights influenced by Glass Mask. And this, that they also used real plays, stories to perform was a great choice form the creator. With this, Glass Mask is really the story of a real girl and not just a fictional one. And this makes it so special and mostly the best shoujo story of all. 10 points
Overall: I enjoyed the show from the begining till the end, and I highly recommend it to everyone who would like to watch a truly great anime. Of course this is especially for shoujo fans but don’t ignore it because it is a shoujo and you don’t like them. Just give it a try and I’m sure you will like it for sure. 9 points
P.S. Don’t just say this is not helpful because you don’t agree with me.

First of all, I started to watch this anime, because I'm currently reading the manga, and it is one of my favourites, so I decided to watch it animated. And maybe this is the reason, why my judgement is a little bit harsh.
Well, the story is quite well made, not about the usuall zombie hunting. The main characters got the chance to overcome death by hunting zombies and pay the zombie-loan. But they only got one year to pay back the money and if they fail, they'll die. Of course there is the main female character with a special power, the shinigami eyes and the three of them try to reach their goal to get back their lives.
I liked the story very much and I'm kinda glad that they stuck with the original manga plot and didn't fill the show with unnecessary things. But I'm really dissapointed that it's only 11 episodes long. They had finished it before the story started to get exiting and interesting. That's why I gave it only a 9.
The art was much more worse than in the manga. Of course the character design was the same, but the animation ruined the whole show. This is not the '90, with the moving colored backgrounds or skipping the characters' movements. Still there were some really pretty scenes, and they used the fitting colors to express the mood. The way they did the characters was like in the manga and that part I'm satisfied with. However the action scenes the cause I just give the art 6 points.
The sound was forgetable, only one or two track I still remember was good. I'm not a hardrock fan, so maybe that's the reason why I hated the opening. I only could listen it in the first episodes, after that I skipped it always. The ending was much better, still a rock style song, but it wasn't my taste either.
The voice actors did great, I didn't have any problems with it. Nice job guys, but still a 6.
The characters were the tipical shy and clumsy girl with special powers, the always persistent and restless main guy, and also the calm, mysterious third one. Also there are the usual group of three: one girl, two guys. Why is it always like this? 7
Although it was far far away from the manga, and it was really short, I enjoyed it very much and it was good to see my fav manga animated. 8
Even if the art and the sound only made it to a 6, I still recommend it to everyone who likes this kind of stuff. There is a little (very little) fan service, but that's not the main thing. You might enjoy it so just please, give it a try...7

I watched this anime more than a year and a half ago, but it's still has an impression in me, so I decided to write a review about it.
Sola was the first anime after Naruto, that I started to watch in japanese, so maybe that's the reason why I like it so much.
Story 10: The story cought my attention right away, mostly concentrating around the sky and the characters' actions are all influenced by it. I don't mind that it isn't progressing fast at first, because at least we have some time to know the characters and the reasons behind their actions. There are lots of great ideas attained and as how the story continoues there are more and more flashbacks showing the characters' past and connections. There are always something surprising during to show, sudden changes that keep your attention on it. So I decided to give this a 10.
Art 10: I loved the art, it was beautiful. Especially the backgrounds and the pictures of the sky. They made it so lively with those pastel colors. All the sunrises, twilights were beautiful, the flowing clouds in the sky made me feel at ease... They all made the show beautiful and enjoyable. It shows that the animators put some work into making this anime and there were just a very few lacking.
Sound 9: I liked also the openings and the ending, they were all suitable, having the same mood as the anime. Ceui made a good work, her songs still on my mp3 player, also Aria Yuki's Colorless Wind so...
The ost was great to, nicely choosed for the different scenes, they really created the mood for them.
I was satisfied with the voice actors, Noto Mamiko was a good choose for Matsuri, but they all did great.
Character 9: The character development was impressing in the series. You know, there are those kind of characters too, who at first seem to be the enemies, but later you realize that they have their own reasons to do what they do. And sometimes those reasons as painful and sad as the main characters'. As the story is progressing you start to like them or they become your favourites. I like when an anime make the bad guys likeable, maybe sounds cliche.
But I like the best Aono's character development in the end. The way she reached that point was hard and painful, but she was able to stand up after the happenings and live her life as it should be.
Enjoyment 10: I really enjoyed this series, I finished it within a few afternoons, I just couldn't stop watching it. And after I finished it, there was the feeling of lonelyness. It can't be helped, series I like always does this to me.
But thanks to this anime, I started to see the sky, and to be honest I realized that there are lots of little pretty things, that we don't sense and we just skip them. It's impressed me the rate I started to make pictures of the sky too and still if I see a beautiful scenery, I can't help but make a photo of it.
Overall 9: I recommend this to everyone, because it contains romance, some light fight, deep emotions and you can know a great storyline. Of course at some point I caught myself almost crying so if you are emotionally weak, prepare some tissues for the last few episodes please. read more

I bet you've already received a letter or e-mail that sais send this to your friends and this and that will happen, you'll be happy, get what you want or you'll be sad, unlucky, loose your money. Uroboros no Wa is about a letter like this, what you should copy and give it to two of your precious friends or you'll be cursed.
Story 7: This is a quite good story to begin with. A cursed letter, what if you don't send on, you'll be cursed.
But if you received a letter, who would you send on to or why? Because of jelousy, anger, revange or just to selfishly save your own life even if you have to sacrifice your best friend?
If you read the synopsis you would think this must be a good horror manga, but then you'll be disappointed. There are just a few bloody scenes and the plot isn't really concerning about how the victims are cursed. I missed the terrifying parts very much or some more supernatural parts. In spite of this, the story wasn't that bad, just it could have been better.
Art 9: The art was great, the best part of the manga. Female hair are beautifully drawn just flowing softly through the scenes, also the backgrounds are well made. Girl are cute boys are handsome so there isn't anything that I can complaing about. But I just gave it a 9, because there were some parts that weren't the same quality as the rest.
Character 6: Just as always, the boy, who is in love with his childhood friend, but haven't told her yet. The girl, that lives the next door, just satisfied by being close to the boy she likes. And the girl's best friend who is secretly in love with the boy. They have to solve the mystery around the curesed letters. There isn't any impressing part in them.
Ops... I forgot the young and clever teacher who acts like a big brother to everyone, especially with his real brother, the main boy...
Enjoyment 6: I did enjoyed it at some point, but I read it at night, and it wasn't scarry at all, so I only give this a 6. But still liked it, because mangas with great artwork always make a big impresson on me. I don't really know why. But after reading it, I'll rethink about reading suspicious e-mails sent by an unknown person.
Overall 7: Well who expect a scarry, horroristic and bloody manga, I'll have to disappoint you. But if you like shoujo romance you will find yourself enjoying this 6 chapters. read more

The second season of Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto, Natsu no sora is reached my expectations... I was afraid that they would create another boring slice of life drama, like the first one(I didn't really like the first series). But fortunatelly it didn't disappoint me and this was a great work to begin with.
Story 9: Like other slice of life animes, Natsu no sora is a very relaxing peice, there isn't any place for fighting or blood. With the supernatural parts, they made it more impressing and ejoyable.
The main character, Suzuki Sora is a little bit shy but straightforward girl from Biei, Hokkaido. Like her father, she can use magic, and in Tokyo, she got the opportunity to become a legal magician, but she has to do training before. So Sora, from the country side, travels to Tokyo, and experience a lot about frendship, love and of course magic as well. But something isn't going on the right way...
Art 10: I loved the art. I loved the unique style they showed us, especially the real backgrounds. The contrast between the characters and the background made the anime so enjoyable. It was a good opportunity to know Hokkaido or Tokyo from another point of view. There might be someone wo doesn't agree with me, but if you dropped this because of the art style, then you missed a chance to watch a great anime, and a great storyline.
Characters 10: The characters were realistic in their personalities or actions too. How to deal with the costumers problems or just to use magic on the right way. They had to solve their own problems about love, the faluire in magic or how to bear the death of an important friend... There are things that can't be solve by magic and they have to realize how cruel life is, but if you experienced sadness then you can treasure those little happy things that happens with you... That's what I felt while watching the anime.
Sound 10: I liked the sound very much, especially the opening and the ending. I also liked the idea of putting a steet musician in some parts, because of the great songs she perform. Of course you can sense that this is a production from 2008, the sound is well made, and it's suit the series.
Enjoyment 9: I don't have to say I really enjoyed the series, especially because I could know Tokyo a little bit more and it was a refreshing slice of life drama. But I don't want to emphasize the fact that it made me cry in the end, and it's a plus point to me. Because if it can make me cry then it really can express feelings and I think in a series the most important thing is to express the feelings that the artist wants to: happiness, sadness, jealousy, kindness, joy, anger, fear... And if the viewer can feel these emotions then it's worthy. And Natsu no sora can...
Overall 9: Well I quite glad that I watched this series, but to be honest it was almost one year ago. It didn't disappoint me like the first series it was much better. But if you don't really like slice of life drama, then you shouldn't watch this peice, because reviews full of disappointment are usually from these people.
It's really suits summer afternoons, because you can feel the hot like in the series... it's really strange feeling... So just watch it, I recommend it!!!

The 15 years old Wakaba suddenly confessed by his cram school teacher, Toudou sensei. Wakaba is not really a strong mided girl and the sudden happening confuses her. She knows that a teacher-student relationship can cause problems for Toudou sensei, but later she realizes that she likes him. They begin to date for a trial period to see is it works out well, or not.
The story is not so unique, another teacher-student relationship, but this time Toudou sensei confesses to Wakaba and the girl doesn't really know how to deal with it. In cram school he is not too kind to her, always shouts and complains about Wakana, but outside he is a university student, who is actually caring, kind hearted and he sais in the manga that although he is Wakaba's teacher at school, he is a guy.
The manga also contains too one shots, Aoi bokura and Love you. Both of the stories are cute. Aoi bokura is about a girl, who tries to hide her real complaining self from her boyfriend, because it was the cause of the breaking up with her ex. But always saying "it's ok", "no problem" makes her boyfriend think that she doesn't love him as he loves her. This story was so cute...
In the manga Love you, we see the main heroine, Arisugawa Koto the student president of an all girls high school who is pretty and cute. One day, in an exchange meeting with an all boys school, she meets with the boy, she confessed in primary school, but at that time he said he didn't want to go out with an ugly girl. Well this one shot was actually quite interesting and I really enjoyed it, it was cute as well.
But because all three stories were full of clichés and tipical shoujo moments, I only give this manga an 8 for the story.
The art was amazing, the mangaka did a great job, I really liked it. All the boys was so welldrawn and goodlooking, but the girls as well. I don't have anything to complain about so I'll give the art a 10.
Characters were the tipical shoujo characters. There wasn't anything new in their personality. The girls are all clumsy, always fell over and the guys always there to catch them or cheer them. So I only give this an 8.
I enjoyed this manga quite well, but I don't want to give this a 10. It's only worth an 8 or less, because the story and the characters. But I sticked to it, so it's worth reading but only if you like shoujo. There were so much love scenes that I like that's why I add this an 8 point.
Well you can see, this manga is not a very outstanding piece but if you like the shoujo romance genre, then you'll like it for sure. I still stick with number 8 for the overall and if you read it, I hope you'll enjoye it.
P.S.: Sorry if my english sucks sometimes... read more

Do you know the feeling when you know that you have to part the person you love the most because of your future. Because of you don't know how to deal with the distance betweet you and maybe this is the best both of you... to be hurt the least...
Well Makoto and Yusuke have been together since junior high school until the end of high school, for 6 years. Perhaps it was a too long relationship for a young couple like them. During those six years they spent their whole time together, they shared all the big and little things that happens to them and they knew each other better than anyone. But senior year is coming to an end and they both going to attend a different university so they decided to break up but still be friends after. But neither Makoto nor Yusuke is sure is this the best decision. They go to a last trip together and make a last memory of their relationship...
The story is quite faithful, it can happen in real life. People part because of the distance or they don't really sure their feelings for each other to keep up. In this case they are high school students standing in front of the begining of the real life. They are young and unexperienced but they already act like adults, decides to keep their relationship not lovers but friends to last forever and try not to ruin their precious time together they spent. I really liked the story and especially the ending altough it was full of clichés. So I'll give it a 9.
The art was beautiful I liked it so much but I won't give it a 10, because I missed something, that I don't really know myself, but it wasn't full. Maybe it could have been more flowing or soft to a story like this. But I still liked it so I rate it 9.
The characters were so much real, like their thinking and how they were dealing with each other and how they acted in a situation like this. Of course there were the tipical shoujo manga characteristics, the pretty and troubled main heroine and the handsome and caring boy. And we see the story by telling Makoto, the girl who is actually really likes writing novels and she won a price with it too. So I still stay with my number 9.
I really enjoyed this one shot manga and I wished it to be longer, but it was complete like this and I rated it with a big 9, so I have the right to say it was worth to read. I really liked the short backflashes of their time together during those 6 years and to see how they love each other after this long time. It's a 9.
Well, anyhow i see, it's only worth to read it if you like shoujo, romance, slice of life manga. It doesn't contain fight of heartwrecking emotions but a very warm and cute story about love. My overall is a ONE BIG 9. read more

To be honest at first I was afraid reading this manga. I'm not used to read this kind of stories, but I've read the other reviews and I started to get interested in the storyline.
The manga is about a girl, Aikawa Hinako, who was raped by his stepfather, got pregnant then aborted the child. But unfortunatelly the harassment countiued and she got pregnant again and she had to give the child to adoption.
We usually see the happenings from a boy's view, Suwa Daisuke, who accitentally heard Hinako's confession about her past. But instead of telling everybody at school, he's getting interested in the girl, and his mind always on Hinako. Daisuke is impressed by Hinako's strength, bearing the fact that she has a baby boy, who is already one year old yet she haven't even see him. Because of the rape, Hinako usually avoid his male classmates and quite afraid of men, but after she gets to no Daisuke, her fear is disappearing slowly and some new feeling replace it.
Well, the story is quite well done. The way Daisuke knows Hinako's past is interesting. It is good to see how their relationship progress day by day. And the fact that this can happen in the real life makes me rate it 9.
But I had some problems with the art. Sometimes, especially when we see the characters go or run away... Seems like he/she has to go to the toilet, becouse something horrible will happen...I hope you know what I mean...
But the others, like faces, expressions and backgroud are pretty so that's why I give this an 8.
Characters are all have different personalities. It was cute to see how Daisuke concern Hinako's past and emotions and try to protect her from the bullying of a girl, who likes Daisuke and intend to be his girlfriend. But there are times when they went overboard. Sometimes it's seems like Daisuke is going crazy always thinking about Hinako and don't deal with other things. Or Daisukes's girlfriend, who is always thinking about how to make Daisuke love her and she don't want to part with him. So it is only a 7 for me.
I don't know who can enjoy this kind of story... or maybe I don't know should I enjoy myself reading it? It is sure was interesting to read and it had a great impression in me. To be honest I couldn't really put away, while I was reading it. I always wanted to know how the story continues. So because of the tragic story I only give 7 for the sake of those women, who was raped or something like this happend with. I don't want do give it 9 or 10... I wouldn't feel it right.
Well this is a somewhat kind and gentle story, how can a girl stand up after so much hardships and find the love that she haven't experienced in her life before.
Those 32 chapters was so right to read.
Well I'll give it a 9, becouse of the artwork's problems and the sometimes fanatic characters.
You shouldn't just rely on my opinion, read all the reviews and decide to read it or not. I hope I helped you...

This anime was not what i expected. I thought it is a very enjoyable creation, but I didn't feel anything while I was watching the film only I was a little bored.
The story wasn't so interesting, it is really calm and relaxing. Too relaxing maybe. There wasn't any new idea, what could make the anime more impressing. It is a very low quality which i wasn't satisfied.
With the art, it was alright but the moves aren't natural. The character design is I think nice, but it could be better if the creators would have dealed with it more.
I am also unsatisfied with the character voices, especially with Yume's voice. I felt nothing while the main character should have felt pain and suffering. I couldn't felt anything. In my opinion that was the real problem.
With the sounds there aren't any problem, I really liked the opening and the ending too while they're very different.
I don't really know who should watch this anime. I watched it because I really like those animes, whitch I have to think about, but this has a very simple story. This is only my opinion, you don't have to listen me, I just write it, because I felt I must write my review. I hope you will enjoy it, if you like those kind of animes. read more
